Experiment Lab // God isn't Necessary {Open, Accepting}
Possibly a little bit cliche. Beware.
Also. I am in no way an atheist. I'm Agnostic. The Title relates to my character I'm sorry if it is offensive The Rules Level - Semi-literacy; You should be able to post a minimum of a paragraph per post, and a minimum of three paragraphs for an introduction. A paragraph is four complete sentences. Basics - Follow the most basic guidelines of role-playing. That includes not controlling someone else's character, nod god-moding, etc. How Many - You can have up to five characters. Staff - three; Experiments - two. Romance - Is allowed, though it's not taken kindly to. MxM, MxF, and FxF are allowed. Limit Menewsha's PG-13 limit of course. C= Age The lab will take anyone 7 and over. OOC - You can OOC on the role-play, but it IS recommended that you do most OOC on the OOC Thread. OOC Thread (Link) Lab's Guidelines One - All experiments are to be treated as humanely as possible; They are still people, even if they are genetically altered or were created. Two - All Scientists found to be conducting unauthorized or inhumane experimentation will be dealt with harshly; The punishment may be death depending upon the severity of the conduct Three - All Experiments are to be in their designated dorm-area (men in men's area, women in women's area) by ten pm at night. You are not to leave your area until a scientist gets you or you are let out at 6 am. Four - Any Experiments who try to do harm to the scientists, doctors, or any other staff member will be dealt with based on severity. There is no death penalty, but torture is allowed. Five - All Experiments should respect the staff. About the People The people who inhabit the world are Kemonomimi - Humans that have animal ears and tails. Also, depending upon the species, they may have patches of scales, wings, claws or fangs. They Look human save those possible features of an animal. ...I am...sorry if this pushes anyone away. Zio doesn't have a full human form, and he's my main character for these types of role-plays. About Hydrusk Industries Hydrusk Industries, the Laboratory, specializes in no specific thing. Actually, the company holds a monopoly in almost everything. They are first in Weaponry and Mechanics, have a wonderful Medical field, and even do a lot with Agriculture. The boss behind the company's vast empire is a Dragon, a rare species to be found. Zio Hydrusk, the company owner, has been in business for over 200 years (dragons are immortal, people), and has used his company's expansive resources for his gains. He supposedly has only the best for the world in mind when it comes to the experimentation on the people. Such things tend to earn him a reputation for being uncaring and ruthless in his pursuit. In any case, he uses the well-known name of his company to do illegal experimenting, paying off the government leaders who know of it. He also seems to have the media and general public wrapped around his finger. Therefore he had been able to pull off the experimenting without many people noticing, or caring. Experiments Most Experiments were pulled out of debt, or off the street by Zio. He saved them, even if it was for his own good. They can hate him, but they are now living (rather comfortably when not being experimented on). Some Experiments were people who were lost from their family, or people who have been kidnapped. As long as their is a fairly equal amount of men and women, no one cares how the experiments get there. The Plot There really isn't one, though you're definitely welcome to give ideas. C= Character Profiles Fooled you! There aren't any. C= Meaning, no skeletons for you. My Characters Zio Hydruski (The Company Owner; Chinese Dragon Kemonomimi) Xae Kline (A mechanic; Was raised by Zio; A Lion Kemonomimi) Xsaero (The "perfect" weapon. A Lion Kemonomimi) Suki (A Medical experiment. Is Human) My Introduction Sunshine leaked through the sheer curtains of the penthouse, standing on the top floor of the company's headquarters. He rolled over and sat up, looking drearily out the balcony doors, which were open. The smell of rain and wet pavement could be found on this wind, which made the curtains rage. It was a pretty wind, strong but not strong enough to be of much bother. The sound of sirens made its way into the room, obviously from several police vehicles. There must have been an accident in the rush-hour traffic, or maybe a robbery was occurring. The noise, despite how far away, made him put the steel-blue toned ears against his head. How he despised the city, but it was the best place to be. It would be too conspicuous to have a large twenty-five story building out in the country. He wasn't even counting the seven stories underground they had. There were other reasons for remaining within the city's realm as well. Many people, children and adults alike, called this place home. In the country, one might get suspicious. Here, all they had to think was that the scientists had family homes within the confines of the Company's grounds. Actually, that was true. Several staff members lived in the small one-to-two floor houses on the large acreage on which the company sat. After several minutes, the male made his way from the bed, which was covered in exotic fabrics that were died deep, rich colors. As he stood up, the white-blonde hair, natural despite what many thought due to his complexion, feel down to his mid-back, and his muscled form was revealed. Two black horns peaked from the mess of hair, near his forehead, and went up, slanting and curving much like an Impala Antelope's would. He was tall without the horns, standing at probably Six and a half feet, or 198.1 centimeters. In any case, the male made his way towards a set of doors. He slid them open to reveal a very large walk-in closet, probably the size of a medium-sized room. Suits took up around Forty percent of the space, and the rest was filled with various other professional clothing items or clothing that would accentuate his features. He pulled on a long-sleeved shirt, it fit snug in all the right places, and with its ribbing, made him look even taller. He added dress slacks and then pulled on a pair of black socks, following by a highly profitable brand of professional standard dress shoes, supposedly as comfortable and tennis shoes, maybe more so. He also grabbed an unstained, clean lab coat. He grabbed his glasses on the way out the door, his tail flicking behind him as he walked the five feet to the elevator. The ride was quick, and he was let off on the main level, which consisted almost entirely of the Cafeteria, Social Areas, and gym (which had a stairwell connecting it to the second floor - a weight room with a track around it). He adjusted as he walked into the afore mentioned cafeteria. His presence seemed to create a darker atmosphere. This man, Zio Hydruski, the owner of the company, was not known for his kindness or compassion around here. He was known very much for anger. It was well known that he had payed the government more than once to drop cases where he had been a suspect. Mostly in murder cases. What it came down to was the man who seemed so caring and kind to the outside world, was a sadistic, angry person in truth. While he did show kindness to some, the majority of people only say this side, which was truly disgusted with most people. Zio walked over to a table, empty of people, and sat, staring at a file. He was alone until another male, tanned skin much like Zio's, sat down. This boy had shorter hair, cut at his shoulders, and a rounder face. He was shorter, about five feet and ten inches, or 177.8 centimeters. He looked much nicer then the elder man, and much more natural then the dragon sitting across from him. This newcomer, Xae, was considered Zio's surrogate child. Zio had taken Xae and his brothers, Mari and Seri, off the street at a young age, and raised them as his own. It was obvious to most that this meant Zio was much nicer to them. It had also been noticed that out of the brother's, Zio doted on Xae much more. Some people thought that their relationship was much deeper than a simply father-son one, but time and time again it had been proven to be a false theory. Xae was young, maybe only 18, but he was one of the company's best mechanics. Though he had never been formally educated (which again leads to discussion of the depth of the relationship between Zio and Xae), he had learned as much about mechanical items as he could. He found them fascinating, and was often the one to call if something needed repaired quickly. He was, however, socially awkward, and not very good at carrying on conversations with people he didn't know. He had a tendency to say the wrong things at the wrong times, or to the wrong people. After several minutes of silence, Zio looked up from the file and papers. The two shared a warm smile and a soft conversation was carried on, only getting loud when they came to a subject that made either of them laugh. Though even that they tried to keep down. It was over too soon, and Zio was on his way up to a lab, to check on experiments that were going. His mood changed from good-humored, to serious in a heartbeat. It left the young man by himself, tinkering with a small device that he had created. The day had just begin, and it had already been very long. {ooc// I have not made that kind of introduction in years. I'm giddy. Yes, it makes me happy to post a nice, long Introduction, or relatively long. And Yes, I know that my characters have odd names. They are all very old characters, from when I made up names. C=} |
"Geez, what's taking them so long?"
A teenage girl with dark brown, almost black hair with two blue streaks in it paced outside a tiny cafe. The girl, now 17, was supposed to be meeting up with two news reporters and two of her friends for a story on the Hydrusk company. One of the friends, Emily, had been recently saved from a life threatening injury she sustained form a car accident through the companies extensive research in medicine and the media was itching to get the exclusive. Kerin-the girl who was still pacing and now getting a bit annoyed-wrinkled her nose and checked her phone. They were all running almost thirty minutes late... "If they were going to show up thirty minutes late, I wouldn't have been rushing so much to get here..." She thought back to the car accident and shuddered. She was one of the lucky ones that day-Emily could have died and it would have been all her fault. But she could have sworn that when she had looked out the window up at the famous company's building, she saw a flash of a human that was not so human. And that split second shock was enough to send the tiny compact car into a tailspin straight into an eighteen wheeler. "Hey, Kerin!" A breathless bundle of blonde joy collided with her blinking, gothic Lolita self. With a laugh, Kerin, brushed her bangs out of her face and peer over thick framed glasses into the face of Emily Waldren. "Sorry for the wait-there was a small holdup and I think they'll be on their way shortly. Yui's running his skinny butt over here-you know he can't miss his time to shine." The looked at each other and burst into a fit of giggles. Yui was one who craved even five seconds on camera and wasn't afraid to admit it. Kerin looked to the Hydrusk Industries complex and couldn't help but feel another strange shudder. Well, better not dwell on that right now...She thought fervently, cracking a smile at her friend's confused face. How could anything be strange about them, since they were so kind in helping my friend get back to her normal self? I...couldn't bear the sight of her twisted, half burnt body and the smell, the sight of it made me want to hurl... "Well, what are you waiting for silly? Let's go sit down..." +++ "Argh, no! Stop! Let-let me go!" A thin, slightly good looking male that was about 6 feet tall was squirming against his captors. The two adults looked down at him with pity and discomfort. "Yui, it's alright, it's only a few tests here and there, nothing too bad and then you'll be on your way to an extraordinary life-" "NO! Let me go! You-you'll pay for all your sick and twisted ways!" The pale green eyes flashed a slight tawny yellow color for a split second. He was already feeling a strange desire to rip their throats out with claws he didn't have. "I want to be normal, have a normal life! Please, let me go! Please!" The grip did not lessen but it wasn't so harsh. They both know that mishandling was frowned upon and they were not too keen on hurting this new Experiment, seeing as how he was taking in the DNA so well without any side affects...well, unless that temper of his was the side effect. "Look, Yui, you must calm down, you're making the fusing unstable and you can seriously hurt yourself. Besides, you wouldn't want to get our company's boss mad-he's a scary thing mad." Yui spat and gave them an alarming purr-growl that caught all three of them by surprise. Yui squeezed his eyes shut in fear and hot tears began to well up behind his eyelids. The only people he had to turn to in this world were his two friends-he had no one else, had to fake his way though parent conferences, though his high school enrollment, just to hang out and be with them. He had no parents, no home, no siblings... and now...now he was being morphed into a freak. " I HATE this place!!" He roared, barring slightly pointy teeth. He tilted his head towards the open doorway and blinked wondering why the two adults by his side suddenly froze. There passing by, he caught sight of a white blonde male with two horns peeking out from above his head. A sudden chill went down his spine and he blinked, two salty tears rolling down his cheeks. Who...who is that? (OOC: I hope this wasn't too long of a post for you. The first two characters aren't exactly experiments, just some back story. Yui and Kerin will be the two who'll end up experiments and Emily will kind of...fade into the background..>< Hope this is acceptable.) |
{ooc//It's very lovely, actually. C= I think back stories are very significant in things like this. I give you props!}
The male, who suddenly seemed slightly annoyed by the sudden sound. He looked in the room, golden eyes gleaming from the tan complexion. "If you can't handle him, then calm him down. We have plenty of D66-O5. Use a small amount and keep him held down. You two should know the basics by now." He walked in, his form almost ominous simply by the change in his stride. He grabbed a small box and opened it up, which revealed labeled vials and a syringe, clean and new. He pulled the syringe and added a small amount of white liquid to a tiny amount of gold liquid. A reaction took place, and it went almost clear. After a moment he injected Yui with the calming medicine. He hadn't worked with this experiment yet. Perhaps it would be...fun? Who knew what they could extract and use from someone who was doing so well. He thought for a moment, keeping a hold on Yui's lower arm. He simply told the two men to leave, and looked down at the younger male, grabbing his chin. He looked the male's face over, and reached around to feel his ears and amongst his hair. After finding not much of interest he looked him in the eyes. "Open your mouth for me." |
"So you were twisted beyond comprehension and Hydrusk managed to not only put you back in one piece but skin graft you to perfection and replace part of your lost brain tissue with hyper-stimulated stem cell regeneration?" Kerin blinked at the garbled summary and glanced to her friend. She shrugged and shot her a "I guess they know what they're talking about" look.
"Yeah, I guess you can say they did exactly that. I'm really grateful to them for giving me back my life. It's all I ever wanted, but never dream that I'd have..." Kerin sat back in the wrought iron chair while sipping a cup of hot chocolate. She flipped her phone open and frowned at the screen. Yui still hasn't called or showed up...Again her eyes wandered to the place that was responsible for saving her friend's life. The two reporters were hounding Emily for more information but Kerin's thoughts tuned them out. Yui wasn't exactly the most fortunate of people. She remembered how, one day, her and Emily found a little boy curled up on the curb crying his heart out. That was almost 10 years ago. His parents, his siblings had vanished from his life and, feeling pity for him, they both took up the task of taking care of him as well as being his friend. Granted, the girl's parent's weren't so enthusiastic about it at first, but Yui soon grew on them. Ever since then, Yui had held a special place in her heart, not as any kind of romantic interest, but as someone whom she could truly call her brother. And it was the same for Emily. "...well, thank you very much for your time. The story should be on the 6 and 10 o'clock news, so tune in!" Emily and Kerin both thanked them in turn and immediately after they left they both sighed at the same time. "God, what in the world-" "Skin grafting? I've never heard of that..." "You ever heard of hyper-stimulated whatever-the-heck it was-?" Kerin snorted after this last comment Emily made. "It's hyper-stimulated stem cell regeneration. It's some emergency procedure that rapidly repairs tissue and restores it to what is was before. Naturally, it has to be done within a certain amount of time or it doesn't work so playing God hasn't been refined yet, but...hey, don't give me that look!" Emily stuck her tounge out. "I find this kind of stuff interesting, you know?" "Well, hey, enough about me-I'm starting to wonder what happened to Yui. He completely missed his chance to be on TV! That's not like him at all." Emily was chuckling but they both know that this was something a bit worrisome. "I'll call him again, but why don't we split up and take a look around his usual haunts, you know? He wasn't at either of our houses all day so..." Kerin nodded, casting another blank stare at her phone. The screen reflected her concerned eyes and the graying skies above her. "We should do this soon though...I don't want my mom worrying about me and the weather doesn't look all that great. I'll call you whenever I figure out where he's been." Kerin stowed her phone into her corset's side pocket. Emily picked up her bag and nodded. "Alrighty then, well...I'll see you around!" Kerin turned around and strolled down the street feeling almost as if she were looking for a stray animal. She smiled sadly. Yui, I hope nothing bad has happened to you... +++ "Y-yes, sir. Sorry for the...the inconvenience..." They had both been reduced to blubbering, bowing people who immediately turned tail and ran from the room. "Cowards!" Yui hissed vehemently, barring pointed teeth again. He had been dumped unceremoniously onto his behind and wincing, he managed to pull himself off the ground. But his anger instantly melted in fear when he caught a better glimpse of the man they called their "boss". He was unnaturally tan and with that hair...kind of like mine, he found himself realizing and a hand reflexively went to his own mess of hair. But the almost surrealistic nature of his presence wasn't what freaked him out. It was that shiny, long needle that made his heart almost stop. "Wha...? No.." He whispered but he stood frozen as the syringe hit a pulsing vein. He absolutely hated needles and after the first few jabs of the morning he couldn't bear to take another one of those in his body... "N-not...not another one..." But for once, the prick didn't feel so bad and the liquid now flowing in him didn't make him nauseous and think thoughts of ripping, clawing or...well...he blushed inadvertently on the last one. This one didn't feel bad at all. It reminded him of all the times he went with his friends, all the times spent lolling around, having pillow fights, having hugs, feeling loved for who he was- He blinked as a feeling of euphoria swept him and he almost giggled under the touch but couldn't fight a smile. Oh great, I must look like an absolute idiot... "Huh? Why?" He mumbled, wrinkling his nose. He smelled...okay? Wait, what? Smell? He smells okay? Jeez, what is going on with me...? Without anther word, he did so, feeling a slight pang in his mouth. |
He smirked and looked the males teeth over, reaching a gloved hand in and touching the canines. "They're sharpening. That's good." He mumbled softly, running his hands over the other teeth to feel their change. He chuckled softly and pulled the finger out, tugging the male over to a chair. With Yui calmed down, it would be easier to analyze him and his changes. It meant that keeping the boy in line would be easier also. He looked at the male, eyes glinting a little. He reached and felt the boys shoulders, checking for wings, despite knowing that this boy would not have any.
He had to follow procedure. After a few minutes he shut the door and pulled a chair over, and took his time checking the vitals of the boy. If anything was elevated it could mean something bad was to happen. He needn't anymore deaths on his hands. After listening to the vitals, he pulled over a machine and looked at the boy. He gently took Yui's arm and pressed something to it, a coding machine. "....You haven't been coded yet. That's not something they often forget." He chuckled however, knowing that he had given the employees a bit of a rough time. It was such a fun...game. Watching them scramble. He so enjoyed this game. He mumbled something and pressed the barcoder harder against the skin, which which usually came a burning sensation. |
Kerin stopped, panting. No one knew where he went-not her parents, Emily (obviously) not even the random hobos on the streets whom he made friends with on occasion and who watched over him like he was their child.
But finally, the city's old crone everyone called Babba Yackers gave her some disturbing information. "Yui? Oh that sweet boy who's kept city thugs from roughn' me from alo' the monies I have left." The lady crackled a bit, sitting down beside Kerin on a park bench. "I saws him with me own crinkled eyes, yesums. He had left some pretty vintage house not a block away from that spiffy place o'er there" she pointed a crocked finger towards the direction of Hydrusk Industries. "I was walking around with Squiggles in my cart-you know, my happy bundle of cat joy I could ever want in my life. I spys him getting talked to by a couple o' strange men, some looked like scientists, I believe and they convinced him to go to Hydrusk with them to help with somethin that had to do with an Emily girl..." "Hydrusk? He went to Hydrusk?" Kerin felt another cold chill down her spine. "Babba Yackers...are you sure?" "As sure as all 120 odd wrinkles that cross my face, I am." She looked rather proud of the fact that she had counted them all. "Thank you-thank you very much!" She yelled hurriedly over her shoulder as she sprinted towards the buildings. The skies began to open and a light rain fell onto the pavement. +++ When the man mentioned sharpening he wrinkled his nose. "So what am I getting turned into? A vampire?" The sarcastic comment flew out of his mouth before he could stop himself. Yui coughed and ducked his head. But the yanking around was starting to get annoying, even under the unnatural calm he was feeling. He frowned a bit at his next words. Coded? What am I livestock? "I'm not some kind of animal you know..." He mumbled as the machine touched his skin. Instantly he felt a stinging sensation run up his arm. "Aaaaarggh!" He yelped, head thrown back into a long drawn out roaring snarl. |
Zio gave a small glare at the male, disliking the sudden comment. "Back sassing isn't allowed here..." He looked at the male's charts. "Yui..." He chuckled and looked at the boy and pulled the coder away after a moment. "No. I haven't checked your files, but based on everything, you're becoming something of a predator. A carnivore." He pushed the machine away and walked over to the files. He hadn't ordered any specific genetic alteration. So they could have changed him into whatever they wished.
"Oh. A Snow Leopard. That's cute." Zio chuckled, amused by the choice. "Rather fits you, based on what I've seen of you." He looked at him, a relatively kind smile on his face. "The code now on your arm marks you as an experiment for Hydrusk Industries. You're lucky, Yui. You get to help us while we strive towards a better world." The way he said it was as if it was something to be proud, letting them use you for science. Of course, Zio didn't exactly see the world the same as younger people. "Besides, you get everything for free here." He pushed a strand of hair out of his eyes, the gel holding his bangs back weakening. He pushed his glasses up a bit and sat down in a chair in front of the male. He smiled lightly and pulled out a tape recorder. "I want you to tell me about yourself. You don't have to go into a lot of depth, but a small amount of detail would be appreciated." |
"Hello? Is anyone here?"
It was pouring now, but Kerin didn't mind, she managed to get though the front gates, but it was eerily quit. Too quit. She took another cautious step. "Hello? Is there anyone-?" A sound to the left of the apartment looking buildings made her whirl on the spot. She screamed and began to back away from it... +++ "Back sassing? " Yui fought the urge to roll his eyes. " I get poked and proded, scanned, half drugged with something and you expect me to not be a little bit bitey? I'm sorry though, if that's something you didn't expect, but I don't think you'd particularly like it either." He almost felt like hitting himself. He was sitting across from someone who definitely was not completely human, as he had just seen the tail curled around the floor. So why was he suddenly much more bolder than he normally was? They must have done something to my personality too... "Wait, a what? A carnivore? Like...I eat raw meat kind of carnivore?" He half gagged. He wasn't a vegetarian-he loved his red meat. But the thought of eating something raw and squirming, still pumping blood wasn't striking his fancy. He balked even more at the chuckle. Unable to contain himself he lept from his chair. "Is this some kind of twisted joke?? Snow Leopard? So you're telling me that your happy scientists were trying to turn me into a huge white kitty? I am not a huge, white kitty and I refuse to turn into one!" With that, he sat down in a huff and found himself licking the back of his hand, attempting to calm himself. "Stupid-twisted-evil-ark, gaaaaa!!" He spat and pulled his tounge from his hand in horror. "I don't care what I get for free, I don't care if I'm some kind of chosen person. All I was is to just go back home and be back with my friends...that's all I want. That, and to lead a normal, happy life." He shot the tape recorder a death glare. "Why should I talk about myself anyhow?" He snorted. "Your people seemed to know enough about me already, creepy stalkers. Knew my full name, knew my friends, knew what happened recently..." He shivered. How cold anyone had known but the three of them what really happened during that accident that day? He had seen it too-the strange figure in the windows of Hydrusk. And like Kerin, he had emerged without a scratch, which left him feeling infinitely as guilty as Kerin herself. "What was that?" He caught the sound of a very, very faint scream that seemed to be coming from outside. Yui tilted his head, frowning. |
"...." Zio looked at the male and stood up. "You'll have to excuse me. I do believe we just caught an intruder." He looked at Yui, however, and chuckled softly. "You won't be a full animal. You'll be much like me, or so I do believe. I do hope they didn't play with your genes and dna too much. That would require quite a large punishment for them and quite an amount of gene editting on you, which is far more painful then anything you've been through."
With that he left, shutting and locking the door behind him. His demeanor became frigid in a moment as he made his way to the main floor. "Who is our intruder?" He looked at the people scrambling around. "How did they get through the gates? Who was the idiot who let someone get on our campus?" He growled and looked amongst the scientists and guards. "She's been caught sir." One managed to spit out. "Or, I think she has been." When he got a icy glare, the scientist swallowed. "S-She shouldn't be too hard to catch if they haven't already." "I'm just worried about whether we're going to have to keep her here or not." Zio snapped. "If she saw anything that she shouldn't have, she's going to have to stay, now hurry up and bring her to me." |
"An intruder?" Yui's ears perked up at this and then he remembered. That's right! I was supposed to go with Kerin and Emily today for the interview! It couldn't be Kerin or Emily...right?
"Hey wait a minute! Where-?" But the door was slammed on him before he could utter another protest. "Argh! What in the world is going on here...?" He sat back down and suddenly felt another wave of nausea. Oh no, not again... He groaned softly and slipped off the chair. It was a good thing he did-a split second later he cried out as the seat of his pants bulged violently. It ripped at the seams and out from the top of his crack spilled a luscious white tail spotted with black. A Snow Leopard's tail. He gazed at it in sheer horror as it flicked lazily and curled itself around his back. He gave another spontaneous roar of displeasure. Feeling another wave of despair and tears settling in, he curled up into a ball, torn pants and all. +++ "Oh urgh! What happened to you??" The...clawed...thing screeched at her again as Kerin turned tail and bolted for the doors. That...couldn't be human. It was something entirely...wrong. "Hey! Hey you right there! Halt!" Now, normal looking people were heading her way from one end and some more regular armed guards from the right. She gazed around wildly, hoping for escape. "Pst! Kerin!" She looked to the left. From behind the main building stood Baba Yackers, beckoning towards her. Kerin dashed over to her. Baba Yackers was practically hysterical. "What are you doing here, you crazy girl! Are you nuts? They'll have yo' head fer sure!" "Is Yui here for sure? Did you see him? Can you get me to him?" The question spilled from her mouth. "Yes, I can child, but you'd have to be absolutely insane to try-" "Well I'm willing! I have to see him!" Baba Yacker shook her head. "Alright then...follow me." She lead her around the corner stealthily and pulled her towards the smooth wall. Kerin turned to her. "Now what am I-?" But she froze. Baba Yackers was not who she had appeared to be. She gaze a wide toothed smile, revealing two very long, downwards pointing tusks. "Surprise, surprise." The woman rasped, whiskers sprouting from her wrinkled cheeks. "I'm one of them hon. I'm an Experiment they let free. And my job...is to help them recruit more viable candidates for the good of all." She barked loudly, a noise that made Kerin wince. One arm started morphing into a flipper, while the other remained it's normal human shape wrapped tightly around Kerin's arm. "They'll be on their way very soon. Just hold still girlie and very, very soon you'll met your precious friend, Yui." "NO!! " She started trying to yank her arm free. "Let me go! You lied to me!! He wasn't here at all-!" "He is here! You'll have your proof soon!" The rasping bark belched from a slightly puffed and wrinkled throat. "Guards, Scientists, Experiments-come forth! You have your intruder caught by your loyal one, Baba Yackers!" Kerin caught a gleam of triumph in the woman's eyes and, shrinking back against the was, she tried to make herself disappear... |
A man approached, stricken of one arm entirely. The lost limb was in his other hand, and while he walked, he reattached it, without so much as a wince. He stopped, and seemed to be looking. "Babba Yackers, Coded; Freed." He looked down at Kerin, and his pupils dilated further then a normal humans ever could. "Analyzation complete."
The male had a natural tan, something like a Chinese complexion. His hair was unnatural however, the twisting of genetical information turning it to a dusty-gray, though it had a lot of sheen too it, like silver. Two albino-ears perked from the mass of hair, and a tail, a lions and also albino, flicked behind. He seemed to stand there, and then looked back as three or four scientists approached. "Master Zio strictly specified the Intruder be taken to him." He looked back at the girl and Babba Yackers. "Babba, we shall take her to him now. Thank you for your help." -- Zio had made his way back up to where Yui was, and entered. He blinked after a moment and his smile returned. "What did I tell you, Yui? Indeed a Snow Leopard." He actually purred, though it sounded very deep and guttural. "You will have a surprise very soon." He sat down. "....I don't usually perform the first tests, but...I think you might need to see them." |
"Just please put me back to the way I was." A true whimper came from Yui's throat as he attempted to crawl away from the man. The tail seemed to have a mind of it's own-it reached around to tickle it's owner's nose. Yui wrinkled his nose again and tried to rearrange it. The seat of his pants began to tear a bit more and, blushing, he sat up on the floor. "Hey...are you some kind of cat thing too?" He frowned. He'd never seen a cat with horns, but that purr really threw him off. The man didn't seem half as bad...just more-troubled? A bit off his rocker?
"Tests? Dropped the whole tape recorder thing, have you?" He still glanced around anyways for evidence that it was still running. "If it has anything to do with needles, I want nothing to do with them. I can't remember how many times I've been injected today but I can't stand another one..." At this point he couldn't keep the fear out of his voice. +++ Kerin covered her mouth, feeling suddenly sick as she saw the man approach her. He didn't seem even fazed by the strangeness of it all...He's in on all of this too...and then she really began to wonder what Hydrusk really was all about. To the rest of the world, they were philanthropists, saviors, favorable in the eyes of countless people. But have they seen the abnormalities they kept here? Still struggling, she was dragged off by the strange detachment-man with the albino lion parts and four other regular looking people. The older woman crackled behind her and left the grounds, whistling as her body returned to it's normal, wrinkled self. "Where...where are you taking me??" Panicking she tried to wretch herself free. "Whare's Yui? I want to know where he is!" |
Zio gave a soft chuckle. "We have an intruder. She'll be delivered to this room within a few minutes, and from there we shall analyze and test her. I'm not sure yet what to use the dear girl for..." He looked at the boy, and knew, despite his attempts at changing the subject, he was going to have to answer the questions before hand. "...I'm hardly a cat, Yui." He said softly. "To be honest, I was never human either." He chuckled. "There was a time, thousands of years ago, when my people lived in the world, known to human." He looked at him. "I'm a dragon Yui, a real one."
He expected the boy to be shocked, or possibly to laugh. Then again, he resembled no other animal really. What Yui's reaction would be, even after analyzing the boy, he didn't know. -- Xsaero looked at her, his albino tail twitching. "We are taking you to Master." He spoke without hesitation. "He wishes that the intruder be brought directly to him. You will be passed judgment there. A human who has seen this, either has their memory erased, or perhaps he will keep you here." |
Alexander pressed a finger to his throbbing temple, pushing his greenish blond hair out of his glasses as he did. God did he hate those stupid alarms. His slitted yellow eyes searched his meticulously clean office, as he tried to recall where the painkillers were. Alexander's office had the barely lived in feel of a high end hospital, where everything smelled faintly of disinfectant, and you could have eaten off of any surface without fear of contaminants like dirt or germs getting into your food. Not that he would have let you, Alexander rarely let anyone into his office unless they were called specifically by him, or were sent on official business. Alexander walked swiftly over to a grey cabinet near the back wall and opened it. After a second or two of searching he snatched a clear glass tube filled with small light blue spheres. Alexander tucked the tube in the pocket of his white lab coat and turned to leave, thankful that the sirens had finally stopped. He hissed and twitched when he was startled by a man wearing a black and red jacket, who was leaning against his door frame, a red fox tail wagging slowly behind him. His short red hair had three grey streaks in the front and didn't seem to be styled at all, causing it to stand in messy spikes, but it still ended up looking good somehow.
"Caillen! What exactly do you think you're doing? What business could a security enforcer possibly have that would bring him to my office?" Alexander narrowed his eyes and added. "For the fifth time this month?" Caillen grinned at Alexander, amused at how he held his frame with the utmost indignation at the very presence of someone in his office, just like always. "Just making my rounds, checking on how everyone is. You should be thanking me, you could have been taken hostage by the intruder for all I knew." A vein throbbed menacingly on Alexander's jaw. "I can take care of myself perfectly fine thank you very much." Alexander made to move past Caillen, but had to quickly shift his center of balance as Caillen made a grab for him. Alexander's leg whipped out, sweeping one of Caillen's feet out from under him and sending him off balance, as his arm grabbed ahold of Caillens wrist and pulled in the direction Caillen was already moving. This move would have sent Caillen face first into the ground had he not had special training. Alexander tucked his left hand into his pocket and pointed at Caillen with his right, his nails lengthened by the adrenaline in his blood, venom seeping from their tips. "Do not test me Caillen, Or I will be forced to send you to the hospital. Again." Alexander turned and headed for the bathroom. "And my headache is bad enough already without having to deal with all the paperwork that creates." Caillen examined the small cut he had sustained on his wrist. The area was already going numb. Caillen grinned at the slim retreating form of Dr. Alexander. The unattainable was always the most fun to pursue in Caillen's opinion. He shook his hand and flexed his fingers as he began walking back to his post, he hadn't really been doing rounds checking on the scientists, he had been checking on Alexander alone. Alexander walked swiftly down the white hallway his white lab coat fanning out behind him ominously. He was still fuming and being preoccupied as he was, he completely missed the bathroom and had to turn around and head back the way he came. The reverberating slap noise his shoes made on the white tile was making his head pound harder, not improving his mood in the slightest. A female scientist with long black hair and glasses dropped her papers at the sight of him. "Dr. Alexander, sir, is everything alright!?" Alexander brought his hand to his face and rubbed his forehead. "Just a migraine. It's the damn alarm system, I'm just more susceptible to it because of my sensitive hearing." Alexander brushed some of his shoulder length greenish blond hair behind his ear, revealing the pale green scaly ridge that ran from his eye back behind his ear, resembling the hood of a cobra. The female scientist nodded knowingly as Alexander helped her retrieve her papers. "I know what you mean, those things are torture." As she bent forward her hair parted, revealing her ears to be pointed and furry. A black and orange cat tail also poked out from under the hem of her white lab coat. Alexander smiled, handing her the last of her papers as they stood up. "I think I'll be taking my break. See you in a few Lynx." Alexander turned and walked though the bathroom door, Lynx bowing politely to him until he was out of sight. Alexander pulled a paper cup out of the dispenser and filled it with water. He pulled the painkillers out of his pocket and unscrewed the black cap before tapping three of the semitransparent light blue gel spheres into the water. They began to fizz immediately and Alexander waited a few moments before downing the whole cup with a refreshed sigh. Caillen pulled an anti-venom shot from his jacket pocket, his belts clinking as he shifted. He pushed the plunger a tiny bit with his thumb, until a drop of the clear liquid appeared at the tip of the needle, this made sure there were no lethal air bubbles in the needle. Caillen found the vein nearest the cut and injected the anti-venom. The numbness that had almost covered his entire arm made it so that he didn't even feel the injection. As feeling began to return to his arm, Caillen walked the last stretch to his small office. A series of six laptop screens showed the camera feeds from his sector of the building. Watching every single camera in the entire building required a large room where all four walls were covered with monitors. This security room was manned by eight guards, but in addition to them each of the ten Security enforcers watched a section of the building. With this many eyes watching the goings on, hardly anything was missed. Caillen's sector was Alexander's floor, the third, and the two below it. Caillen sat down in his chair and quickly flipped through the many camera feeds from his three floors, but stopped on one from the first floor of a girl being dragged to the elevator by a guard while four scientists brought up the rear. Caillen watched until she had disappeared into the elevator. Hmmm must be the intruder. Wouldn't have thought it was a girl... must be a fanatic from one of those environmentalist groups or something. Caillen leaned back in his chair and let the computer screens resume their automated rotation through the camera feeds. Caillen yawned and stretched, then began searching his snack drawer for anything worthwhile. On one of the small square images,a tiny Alexander was walking out of the bathroom, back to the lab. Alexander cracked his neck, glad to be rid of his headache. He walked slowly back to his lab where he was immediately assailed by Lynx. "Sir! Sir! We finally managed to do it!" Alexander raised his eyebrow. "Ah, we finally sequenced the cuttlefish DNA? Good, I knew results would present themselves given a little time." Alexander clapped his hands. "Alright, now all we need to do is identify which genes give cuttlefish their amazing camouflage abilities." ~-------~ A relatively small boy with short black hair lay asleep in a white room that was bare except for the bed he was sleeping on and a bookshelf full of meticulously ordered toys. He lay comfortably on a twin bed under a large white down alternative comforter. The room was completely white and lacked windows, were it not for the fact that it lacked padded walls it could be mistaken for a room in an insane asylum. The boy sat up and yawned, blinking his dark green eyes, and stretched. He pushed the fluffy comforter off, showing the thin grey long sleeved pajamas he was wearing. He looked up at the black panel above his bed displaying the time in fluorescent green numbers. The boy tilted his head to the side slightly, looking puzzled. "Noon?" Suddenly the wall panel underneath the clock slid backward and allowed a small thin television screen to take it's place. Alexander's face, smiling more warmly than he usually did, filled most of the screen. "Good morning Seth! There was an attempted break in earlier and other such nonsense that put me a little behind schedule, so I thought I'd let you sleep in today." Seth looked taken aback for a second and then smiled. "Thank you, sir." Alexander laughed and smiled. "Just don't get too used to it." Alexander pushed some of his greenish blond hair out of his face and slid his glasses back up the bridge of his nose with his index finger as he checked the time on his watch. "I still have a little work to finish up here, but I estimate I'll be down to see you in about fifteen minutes. That should give you some time for breakfast and a shower before we start with today's tests." Seth nodded his head and started getting out of bed. "Of course, see you then sir." Alexander smiled and severed the connection, causing the TV screen to slide back into the wall. Seth quickly got up and pulled off the grey long sleeved pajama top he was wearing along with the matching pajama bottoms. He walked through a door to the right of his bed which concealed a shower stall, toilet and sink. Seth dropped his pajamas in the laundry basket in the corner before jumping in the shower. Seth was in and out of the shower within five minutes. He had long ago taught himself how to take military showers, ever since he learned that the water came directly out of Alexander's pocket. Alexander had been more than happy to let Seth take as long as he wanted, but Seth had insisted on taking as short showers as possible so Alexander was forced to politely concede. Seth didn't want to cost Alexander any more than he absolutely had to. He was well aware that he had it a LOT better off than most experiments. Seth quickly dried off and brushed his teeth before exiting the bathroom for the door on the other side of his bed. This door concealed a small closet that held Seth's clothing. Seth picked the slim black Kevlar weave short sleeved shirt, as today was a scheduled combat testing day. He also picked a pair of sturdy grey cargo pants the reached all the way to the ankles of his black combat boots. Seth walked toward the door on the other side of the room, facing his bed. This was the door leading out into the building, but it was always locked unless Alexander came to see him. Seth wasn't allowed to wander of course, he was only an experiment. He was actually headed for the panel next to the door. The panel glowed a pale blue and waited for his input. It was only active for six very short intervals each day at 8:00 AM, 12:00 Noon, 3:00 PM, 6:00 PM, 9:00 PM and midnight. Each time slot was a potential meal or snack that he could order from the staff kitchen. Alexander had fixed this up long ago, and the kitchen staff were more than happy to oblige as Seth never ordered anything overly complicated. Seth quickly keyed in "I would like scrambled eggs with ketchup, please. [I missed breakfast, sorry.]" A reply flashed across the screen seconds later. "Most of us missed breakfast with those blasted alarms going off left and right. I'll have that right up to you dear." Seth only had to wait a few minutes before there was a mechanical whirring and a square section of the door about halfway up the door opened. A kind looking older woman with slightly greying hair and moderately plump features carefully pushed a plate of scrambled eggs through the door. "You know If I've told them once I've told them a hundred times to widen these horrible meal slots. I can barely fit my plates through them, and they keep telling me to use smaller plates! Ha! Preposterous." When the plate of eggs was safely in Seth's hands she bent down and smiled at him through the hole. "You'll enjoy that, I made it extra special. But be careful, it's hot out of the skillet." Seth smiled and looked at the scrambled eggs that had obviously been enhanced by bell peppers, cheese and bacon bits. Smiled back at her and said, "Thank you very much cook Aggie." Agatha laughed, a tail resembling a golden retriever wagging behind her. "Oh, you're very welcome lad. Ah! But I'd almost forgotten." Agatha reached into her apron and pulled out a plastic bottle of ketchup. "Here you are. Now I must be off to the kitchens again. Have a good day wee one." With that Agatha turned and headed back to the elevator, and the square hole closed again with the telltale mechanical whirring. Seth wolfed down the delicious eggs, accidentally burning his tongue the first few bites, and then waited for Alexander to arrive. |
Yui stared and felt a strange chill running down his back. His tail twitched involuntarily and he felt like pressing his body against the cold tiled floors. A girl...but they can't mean...? Yui wrinkled his nose and his eyes widened at the man's next words. Surely..surly he was jesting. Dragons in this world did not, and shouldn't, exist. Now he thirsted for more to understand exactly why and how he got here...
But before he could ask, the male had already left him again to his own dizzying thoughts and sneaking suspicions. ------ "Pass judgment? What does that mean, some sick version of god-ness?" She continued to struggle but eventually was worn out fom the effort. She sighed Well, at leas now I'll know for sure if Yui's here and if he's alright... But she shuddered at the thought of either suggestions. "I want to remember everyone but I'd hate to stay here!" lashing out with a new found rage she began thrashing against her captors again. |
