Lore squinted through the rain and darkness. She thought she could make out a box of some kind... She pointed it out to Ouna "Look, there. What is that?" Lore approached it cautiously, examining the small glints of metal she could see, not willing to approach lest the metal attract the lightning. Lore circled it warily, before looking at the mud and scuffing it slightly, obscuring the still barely visible tracks of the cart. She looked in the direction where it must have gone, but the rain was too heavy to permit a view of it, though she knew it couldn't be far if she could still see the tracks in this rain. "Well Ouna, I don't know if anyone is coming back for this, but the metal might attract the lightning, so we shouldn't touch it in this storm." She looked around, and for a moment could have sword she saw a patch of shadows move. She blinked and looked again, but saw nothing. Shaking it off she returned her attention to Ouna. "We should take shelter until the lightning stops at least, then we can check it out."

(( Holmes ;) ))
Full Name: Navalia ( Is known as Nava ) Played by: Chema Gender: female Age: 512 (appears to be about 18) Race: Demon Appearance: http://c2.api.ning.com/files/5eESoCh...rmu/anime9.jpg Personality: Mysterious, strong willed, and cute Abilities: Can conjure Barriers, fly, and has the ability to move anything with her mind, no matter how heavy. Methods of Combat: Prefers not to hurt others, so she uses her barrier to not get hurt and her telekinesis to move people out of the way. Quirky Facts: She thinks that Bats are adorable and even has a pet Bat named Fang. "Good for nothing parents and their stupid arranged marriages!" Nava was walking down an old road, venting her rage over being the daughter of the Demon King's Brother. In sense she was a princess of the Demon Lands, but the Demon King had just born a son who would take the throne some day, causing her role to be of no importance. That was part of the reason why she had decided to run away. The other part being the man that her parents wanted her to marry. He was about a thousand years too old for her and had a bloody nose whenever he saw her, the dirty old man. No, she refused to marry that guy, so she decided to create a new life for herself, not knowing what she was getting herself into. Everything seemed bad enough already, since Nava had been walking on an old road for god knows how long, but it all became worse when it started to rain. Sure, she used her barrier to keep herself dry, but it was nearly impossible to see. Suddenly a carriage came racing down the road out of nowhere, she would've been hit if it wasn't for her fast reflexes. Apparently she wasn't fast enough because a huge object flew out of the carriage and knocked her to the ground. Now, she laid on the ground in all the mud, her barrier not keeping her dry anymore, and thought about how wrong everything was going. |
Something moved in the mud near the box and Lore blinked and looked at it again. "It seemed to be... a person? She approached cautiously "Hey, are you alright?" Lore could barely see with the fading light and rain, so she took a few more steps forward "Can you hear me?"
|
Nava was brought out of her depressing thoughts by a female voice.
Great, now some human has found me and will now go screaming off down the road to alert the people of the next town that a girl with bat wings and red eyes is coming! She thought in despair, but then she sensed something that calmed her down; the person talking to her wasn't human. What a relief, now she could stop bracing herself for the terrified screams. "I am perfectly fine, albeit a bit dirty now," Nava stood up and cast a barrier over them both so she could actually see what this girl looked like. "Thank you for your concern," she smiled at the girl, "My name is Nava, what is yours?" |
Lore blinked at the cessation of rain and looked up at the barrier above them. "Well, I'm Lore, and you Nava are definitely one of the weirder things I've seen today. This is Ouna by the way, and unless your magic also protects from lightning strikes I still suggest we seek shelter."
(P.S. I am human, Ouna isn't. >.>) |
Donny slunk closer, creeping through the muddy shadows to a point just a very few feet away from the sopping wet trio. He pulled up his goggles, enchanted by the Felwood elves to slice through darkness and rain, fog and such with no problem. He could clearly see the group, but the one on the road exuded danger. He had seen a few demons in his time, even assassinated a couple, but this one was different. Usually a demon was leading an entourage of minions. Garbed in harsh, disturbing armor. Wielding weapons of woe and devastation. This one seemed... slightly lacking in flash and evil. Perhaps she was only a half-demon bastard child? It would make sense. I will be careful, it might be a ruse to gather victims. Donny ran a finger over the complex tattoo on the underside of his left forearm, and felt a brief pang of heat, sharp and scalding, along the routes of ink. He then mentally pushed upwards, and felt his body shift into smoke, float upwards to a branch above him, and coalesce into his natural form once more. These people warranted watching. Perhaps one has a price on their head. Then it will be interesting and profitable.

(( oops DX sorry firemare, let's just say that my character's senses were a little disoriented and she was actually sensing Ouna then ))
"Um...thanks and nice to meet you too, Lore," Nava's eyes squinted in confusion. This girl was in fact human, but her senses had been picking up the girl behind her. She wouldn't worry about this though since Lore sounded like she was a nice human. "Well, I've never actually tested my barrier with Lightning before," Nava curiously looked up at how fierce the lightning was becoming and then back down to Lore, "But, it protects me fine from weapons of any sort, as well as any type of power." Suddenly she remembered the big object that had hit her and was very curious as to what it was. She expanded her barrier to include it and went over to investigate. "This looks like some sort of coffin," she had never been very connected to the world outside the demon kingdom, but it looked to be older than herself, "It must be about a thousand years old or so." |
Lore approached cautiosly and nodded "I suppose so, but what is it doing here? The cart that brought it seems to not care that it was dropped, for that matter, shouldn't you know what it is since you were with it?"
|
"I wasn't with it. It flew out and knocked me into the mud after I narrowly escaped from being ran over by that damn carriage!"
Nava's eyes started to glow red in anger when she remembered what had happened, but she quickly calmed herself down and looked back to Lore. "Anyway, should we open it, or just take it with us to this shelter that we need to find?" |
Lore nudged it with a toe. "I'm not carrying it, and from long years in the military and the runners I know to not open anything not addressed to you, it's either booby trapped, filled with something really nasty, or whoever it belongs to will figure out you opened it and get mad. I want nothing to do with it. Whatever you do let it be on your head."
|
"Well I am curious," Nava looked at the casket, her eyes burning with interest as to what was inside, "But, I'll heed your warning since I'm sure you know better about things out here than I do."
Nava had been raised in a castle full of servants and was never allowed to leave the Demon Kingdom in all her 500 years. Therefore, she was naive when it came to objects outside of the kingdom's gates. She would leave it be since she didn't want to die before she got to really know what freedom was like. "Alright, so where do we go to find this shelter?" |
Lore shrugged "It seems counter productive to me, but there's a tree just back there." She jerked with a thumb over her shoulder, "but we could also just go into the woods there." She indicated the woods off to the side "That's probably smarter. And then you can bring it along."
|
"Alright then, let's go."
Using her telekinesis, Nava made the coffin float after her as she walked to the woods. Her barrier moved with her until she got to the trees, then it simply faded away as there was no need anymore. She laid the coffin on the ground next to a tree and sat down and leaned against the tree across from it. |
This was intriguing indeed! Donny hadn't noticed the coffin laying on the floor, his curiosity filled by the supposedly innocent demon. And she had telekinesis! This is very strange indeed. He waited until they got to the shelter of the woods before intentionally betraying his presence. He wanted to see how these people would react before showing himself. As he passed over a limb that had fallen, he put more weight on it than was necessary, causing it to snap loudly. He then jumped into a nearby tree, and awaited their reaction.
|
Lore whirled, hand flying to an unseen destination under the cloak as she scanned the area. She cautiously moved a few steps closer and looked around again, seeing nothing she called out in a commanding voice "Who's there? Reveal yourself!"
|
So the human is armed. A dagger most likely, or a hand-crossbow, perhaps, but then she would have drawn it so she could aim before firing. Intriguing. Dropping soundlessly to the ground, he drew his own crossbow, long and sleek, loaded with a magic-piercing crossbow bolt, and aimed it at the demon's back.
"So. Am I the only one curious about what's in that coffin?" |
Lore gripped the handle of her sword tightly as she glared at the... thing that had appeared. Left to her own devices she would have attacked or run, but he was threatening innocents and there was a wicked kind of sheen to the crossbow bolt. She started to slowly edge to stand next to his intended target. "Yes. Yes you are. But we aren't protecting it, so if that's all you want take it and go."
|
"Actually, i'm less interested in the coffin, and more interested in the three of you. Quite the strange group. However, the reason i'm even bothering to aim a weapon, is that demons are more often than not dangerous, and I would rather not face off with an unknown demon under unknown circumstances. Not without pay, anyway." he glanced quickly over at the human. The blue thing was still not attacking him, but that was no reason to write it off as harmless. "So, can we all agree to not kill each other? Not yet anyway?"
|
Lore's eyes narrowed. "So you're a mercenary. Phaugh, I know your type. I'm convinced that someone, somewhere is paying you to breathe." She spat contemptuously in the dirt and moved closer to Nava. "I've got no reason to kill you unless you get in my way, but I find your manners sadly lacking, even for a mercenary. So as far as that goes, agreed. Now what brings you here merc? As far as I know, I've got no bounty, it's doubtful Ouna does, and you already admitted you don't know Nava. So why are you here?"
|
Donny tilted his head to one side, chuckling heartily. These civilians were so amusing! Like angry kittens! Except the demon was still a possible threat, and there was the rare occasion where human bravado turned out to be earned.
"Human, your manners are no example to go by either. And no, no, at the moment I am unemployed. Mercenary is also a bit of a soft term, just as an aside. I'm no grunt. But really, your human angst has roused my curiosity. The reason I am here is boredom. You are interesting, so I come to see what you will do. And that coffin is strange looking. Strange feeling, too, if you had any magical sense." he slid a finger over his forearm tattoo once more, and pushing towards the coffin, causing him to break down into smoke, and reappear at the coffin. "Shall we open it?" |
Lore started and spun, drawing an inch or two of sword before sheathing it. "If it is magical, that's even more of a reason to leave it alone. If you've been following us, you know my reasons, and if you have any military training at all you would know it to be foolish. Opening magical items that you don't know the origin of is just asking for trouble, or demons." Lore glanced at Nava with a nod "No offense, but my argument stands and if this merc plans to open it, I want to be a safe distance away." releasing her sword she turned and walked to where the forest opened onto the road and prepared herself to run should it be nessacary, but she couldn't suppress some curiosity, and paused, looking back over her shoulder to where the others stood.
|
Nava hadn't been worried about this new appearance. Since she was a member of the Demon Kingdom, she had been brought up to be fearless. If the guy had had any real intention of firing his weapon, she would have just stopped the arrow with either her telekinesis or barrier and flown away.
Honestly, she thought, humans get antsy so quickly, but I guess that might be because they don't have supernatural powers like we do. Even though she thought like that, she was still very happy that Lore defended her. It was quite unusual to find someone who wasn't afraid of a demon, much less a human. "Actually I'm curious as well," Nava spoke for the first time to the strange guy, "Go ahead and open it." She stayed sitting at her tree because even if there was something bad in that coffin, Nava's barrier could dispel just about anything and her telekinesis would take care of the rest. |

"Really, demon, I admire your bravery. I also know your powers, and have ways around them. However, for now we are at peace, so there is no reason for squabbling." turning to where Lore was standing further off, he raised his voice slightly, "Oh lady-buck! I'm about to open it! Sure you don't want to get a good look? I really am quite experienced you know, and I am fairly sure that if anything dangerous is in there, the demon and I are more so! And you hint at prowess, so join us!" he turned back to face the coffin, dropping his crossbow to hang on the leather strap slung over his shoulder, in easy reach should he need it. Drawing a small figure made out of clay from a pouch on his belt, he shaped it to resemble a humanoid with long legs and arms, then spat on it, and tossed it to the ground.
Upon hitting the forest floor, it sank through the leaves as if it weighed much more than it did. Within a very few seconds, a humanoid creature made of dripping, runny clay emerged from the ground, caked with leaves and twigs. "Open the box, golem." as Donny spoke, the clay golem strode over next to the box, and raised the lid. |
Nava leaned in closer, her barrier ready to protect her and the other guy, since he had said that they were basically friends right now. If anything bad came out, she'd use all her power to protect all of them.
"Nice Golem," she complimented the nasty creature with a grin. She stopped talking and stood up from her spot, ready to get a good look at whatever was inside. |
