"No worries. I made it up in one piece. Thank you." Mark's voice was extremely strained as he crossed the room to see Gin. “You might want to lock the door or something if you haven’t already,” he said over his shoulder.
“Gin, wake up,” he said sternly, brushing away a few strands of red hair before putting his hand on her forehead. Concentrating, he ordered her to wake up again. No response. “Gineja El, wake up.” This time, she did and cried out in surprise more than pain. She looked up at Mark in disbelief. Panting, she asked, “What are you doing here?” She tried to sit up, but he pressed her back against the bed with two hands against her shoulders. She tugged at one of his wrists, wanting to sit up. “Stop that.” “You really should stay down for a few. You’re going to have an awful headache if you get up too fast,” he said gently before backing away a little. “What’s going on, Mark?” She asked, sitting up slowly to appease him. She was very thankful that he had pulled her out of that but curiosity came first. “I’m not sure, yet. But I probably have little time to talk,” he said with a small smile, sitting on the bed. “There’s a very good chance those Shadowsayers have found me now.” “You shouldn’t have come, then,” she hissed. “Find my pack before they find me,” he ordered just before falling back onto the hospital bed, out cold just as she had been moments before. |
Seige had just sat back down from locking the door when Mark lost consciousness. “Great.” He muttered, through clenched teeth standing back up.
“What do we do now?” He asked Gin, staring at Mark’s face. |
"We shouldn't leave him here," she said quickly, getting to her feet. She held the back of the hospital gown shut. "We need need to get him out, Seige. They know where he is. He isn't safe." She tugged at her hair. "They might already be close."
|
“Ok. How about you go get some clothes from somewhere and I’ll tie him to the end of the rope, and lower him down. Will that work? and then We can get Sade amd Malia.” Seige asked her rope already in hand.
|
"Perfect. Let's just do it fast," she said, already heading towards the door. "Let's meet at Sade's coffee shop," she said quickly before slipping out of the room, carefully closing the door behind her.
OOC: I'll post all the getting out stuff in the next post... I need to think about a few things, first. |
Seige tied the rope to Mark, triple checking the knot, tying the rope to the door knob he lowered Mark, slowly making sure he didn’t land too hard. Then Seige climbed down the rope. Biting the rope off when he got to the bottom, he slung Mark over his shoulder, heading for the coffee shop.

Gin had no idea where to find clothes, so she found a second hospital gown and tied it on backwards to cover her hind end. Then, rushing down the stairs, she searched for the waiting room and her two other friends, carefully avoiding nurses and doctors, unsure of who would and wouldn’t recognize her.
When she finally found them, Sade nearly tackled her with a bear hug. “You’re awake!” He squeezed her so hard that she could barely breathe. “Yeah, and we need to go. Now.” She said, struggling free from his hug. The nurse behind the counter was trying to get her attention. When she didn’t respond, the nurse called for help. “Okay, now is good,” Sade said, grabbing her hand and dragging her out the door with nurses shouting behind them. Malia followed closely. They jumped into the first cab they could find and sped towards the shop. |
When Seige got there, there was no one in the shop. He walked up stairs with Mark and put him on the sofa, covering him with a blanket. Seige went back downstairs, and paced for a minute, before going back up stairs, to wait for their return there.
|
The three burst in with such vitality that they probably could have taken out the door. “I felt like we be escapin’ from a prison,” Malia announced, falling into a chair. “My heart be racin’, mon.”
Gin tugged at the sleeve of the hospital gown and turned to Sade, “Do you think I could borrow some clothes?” He nodded, and she walked up the stairs. “What’s going on?” Sade asked as soon as she left, walking straight up to Seige. |
Seige shrugged “It looks like Mark changed places with Gin. It’s something about a pack.” He sat down as far away as possible from Malia, and yawned, exhausted from hauling Mark up the hospital building, then down, and then across town.
“At first, I thought it could have been my mother but this Definitely isn’t her. This is so beyond her talents.” |
Malia stood quickly and went over to the table Seige sat at, putting her palms on it and leaning towards him. "Why are ya scared of me, mon?" She asked.
Sade laughed and went behind the counter out of habit. He started a pot of coffee as Gin came back downstairs wearing an over sized shirt and sweat pants. "Cute, no?" She asked with a short laugh, going to the fridger to find food. "Anyways, we need to find Mark's pack." "Pack?" Sade asked. "Yeah," she said with a sigh as she found no food, "He's actually a wild dog." |
Seige standing up from the table stepped back, “I don’t want to go near you, because I don’t react well to angry people, and last time we spoke you were angry because I broke your TV.”
“Hmm. How’d you know?” Seige asked Gin, calmly turning to Malia, “Well finish this some other time, deal?” |
"No. I don't be likin' the way ya avoid me, mon," she said, hands on hips. "Why wouldn't I be mad at ya when ya be breakin' my TV? But I forgave ya since den."
Gin sat on the counter and crossed her legs. "Well, the Shadowsayers asked for Marcolis at first, and I didn't know who that was. They told me that he was the dog I took in (that was over a year ago). When I told them that the dog ran away, they tried his human identity on me... and I knew that. I pieced it together from there." She left out the details of torture and whatnot. "It helps that I can fathom shape shifting. That's thanks to you, Seige." |
Seige smiled briefly at Gin before turning to Malia “I was never told you’d forgiven me, for all I knew you were going to cut me up the next time you got a chance.” Seige told her trying to stay calm.
Stepping toward her he bent down to be at eye level, hands on his hips, and grinned ear to ear. “So how’s the new one?” He asked. |
"Dat's more like it, mon," Malia said, returning the grin. "I be likin' it. Tanks."
"So, where do we find these Shadowsayers?" Sade asked, staring at the coffee pot. "I... I don't really know..." Gin said, shoulders falling. "He said to find his pack. I'm sure they'll show up eventually. They're after him." |
Seige straightened back up and walked to the counter. “I’ve been smelling more dog around lately, do you think that I’m smelling them? Or Mark?” He asked sitting down on one of the chairs.
“Sade can I have some water?” |
"Probably just Mark," Gin said quickly.
"Sure thing," he said and filled a glass of cool water for the Cinsaid. He set it down in front of him before pouring a cup of coffee for Gin. "You know, I have food in my kitchen upstairs. Anything in particular sound good?" She shrugged. "I'm thinking right now." "We could just wait for them to come to us..." "No way," she cut him off. "They'd rip him apart or something." Malia joined the three, sitting next to Gin on the counter. "I tink we should be checkin' the woods, mon." "That's a great idea!" Gin clapped her hands together once. "Seige, you know the forest... are there any wild dogs there?" |
“The most I ever saw, was foxes, but I suppose there could be.” Seige wrinkled his nose at the thought of there being a pack of something he didn’t know about running around his family’s forest.
“I can go check, while you stay here and guard Mark, or vise versa. If I do stay here I'll call Zink for extra protection for you guys." |
Just as Gin was about to say yes to Seige's offer, a group of eight bikers entered, all lean muscle and sun tanned skin. Sade said some generic welcome and offered them coffee as they approached the counter. Malia glared at each of the bikers as if to warn them against trying anything funny. She never trusted rough looking men.
The bikers each took a cup of coffee and sat around at the tables. Their eyes danced around the place and flickered between each other and the four at the counter. "I don' be likin' dem," Malia said in a low voice against Gin's ear. She shrugged. "We don't need to worry about them. We need to worry about... well, when they come for him." "Mark?" Malia asked, a confused expression passing across her eyes. Immediately, she clamped her mouth shut, suddenly understanding that Gineja had meant to leave his name out. The bikers stood at the sound of his name and walked closer to the counter, reaching into their leather jackets to pull out guns. They froze as their eyes saw the guns. One of the bikers stepped forward and asked forcefully, "Where is he?" |
“Why did you have to bring guns!!” Seige yelled, standing up. “I hate guns, they’re about the only projectile-firing weapon that’ll kill me.” He shrank back against the counter, wishing for anything that would cover his chest, a shirt, a newspaper, anything.
Then, remembering he was, in fact, a Cinsaid, and he had his own weapon that was faster than a gun, and he’d be able to stand getting shot better in his other form, he changed into his Cinsaid form. After changing he took an offensive stance, stinger at the ready. |
One of the bikers raised a gun to shoot at Seige’s tail if it even flicked. “I can blast that thing off,” he threatened, almost growled.
“Why wouldn't we bring guns?” Another asked. Gin snorted. “You wouldn't need them if you weren't compensating for something." Sade glared at her out of the corner of his eyes as if to say "shut up!"; Malia shook her head. "Think you're cute?" The leader asked, leveling the barrel of his gun between her eyes. She just shrugged. "Let's try this again. Where is he?" Chum, who had been asleep under the counter, floated up upon hearing the situation and glided towards the phone. Silently, of course. It was time to make a call. |
Seige smiled “It won’t go anywhere if you shoot it. It’s armored and faster.” He didn’t want to mention that his torso was just as vulnerable as it was before.
He watched the leader, no longer concerned about the rest of the guys. If he got shot, he got shot, there’d be nothing he could do about it. Trying to distract him from Gin, he motioned with his hand walking toward him slowly. “Mmm. That’s not nice, you’re not even telling us who he is. How can we tell you where the guy is if we don’t know what his name is? ‘Where is he?’ isn’t exactly being specific.” |
"His name is Mark," the man growled. He stiffened in response to Seige's words but still had his gun held up.
"Never heard of him," Sade said and shook his head. "Are you sure you have the right coffee shop?" "That woman," one of the bikers pointed to Gin. "Is his friend..." Gin shrugged. "I don't have friends." Malia smacked her forehead. These guys were going to get her killed. Chum listened to the ring tone anxiously as Zipper joined him, gliding around him in nervous circles. |
“Ahh… Him. Yes I know where he is. Follow me.” Seige told them, walking toward the door. He planned to go to Zink’s house, knowing that Yolam and Zink were powerful enough to hold these guys for a couple of hours, giving Sade, Gin, Malia, and him enough time to figure out what to do about Mark.
