"Are you... sure," he asked.

Oh, what do you care about this kid for? She's useless to you, anyhow. If she goes berzerker in this joint, then that's a problem. But its nothing you can't handle. She may be 100 or so, but remember: you're Leonard Erland; wanted around the globe for assisting conspiracy, murder, and arson. Nothing can bring you down. Nothing can bring US down.

"of course" she smiled but it was half hearted. "why?"

"Well, because your eyes are starting to turn red. Should we be concerned?"

Always with the concern... you really need to figure out where your alliances lie, son. You're headed down a bad road here...

"hmm thats never happened before" she walked up to a mirror, "thats weird"'

"So... what does it mean," he asked, his growing concern overcoming the petulant voice in his head.

"i dont know" she said

"Ooookaaay," he said, getting a little frustrated. "Is there some way you can figure out what it does mean? Because its my experience that people's eyes changing color, whether human or not, is a bad thing."

"last time my eyes changed color i woke up the next day in a different town" she tipped her head, "and i dont remember what happened"

Leonard took a step backwards. "That... that's not good." Very quickly, he surveyed the area for something he could use in his defense should he need it. He didn't like using his powers for fighting: he always ended up doing more damage than he meant to.

"So... what do we do about it?"

"i-im not sure" paige looked at the door and darted outside, "ill be back i hope" she starts running into the forest.

To put it mildly, Leonard was confused. More than confused, he was concerned. Her last words were that of the variety someone says when they are likely not to return. But there was little he could do, apart from follow her, which he could not do. He still had a job to do here, and that was to find someone. He took his modified newspaper and traipsed up the stars to his room.

Paige woke up again she didnt know if she blacked out but she found herself in the garden behind the inn, "i wasnt anywhere near here!" she got up confusion clear on her face.
