"You're telling me, sir? I had to walk here in this dress and heels but once I got in I thought I'd be served. The woman just appeared and dissapeard and that's the last I've heard. I'm quite tired of this place, and I would be far gone if it were not for the fact that I am waiting for someone." she finnished still a bit angry about how the day had thus turned out. What an odd seeming man, something of the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland I think. Veya frowned and ran her hand along the wood of the bar feeling the texture and cleanliness. It was by no means clean, but enough to do.
Liz laughed once, looking around at the bar. "Yes, where has she got to?" she sighed. Looking back at Veya, she saw that she was looking at her watch on her wrist. Her face seemed to show some sort of sadness or irritability. "Is there something wrong?" Liz asked caringly.
Then, the man sat on the armchair spoke. Veya talked and seemed visably distressed, to Liz. |
Percival tisked at Veya, "You should've taken a cab." He frowned at her saying "Well whoever you are waiting for they are ignorant pricks it seems." He titled his head at her and said "I am not an Lewis Carrol character." He glanced at Liz and said "I recently arrived and I have see hide nor hair of the Inn Keeper."
"I wonder if there is something wrong back there? Maybe she went round the back" Liz said back to the man. Liz thought that his appearance was oddly misplaced in this too-casual room. "Sorry, I haven't introduced myself. I'm Liz" she sighed.
She leaned backwards; having a human this close to her was unsettling. She was trying to decide whether or not to reply to his belt comment, when she felt her balance slipping. With a yelp, she fell backwards off of the stool, landing in a crumpled heap on the floor.
Percival smirked at her and said "Pleasure to meet Liz. My name is Percival, Percival Gray." He slide hair behind his ears and said "I like to leave my estates looking my best." He leaned back in the chair and stiffled a yawn with the back of his a pale hand.
Liz took a sharp intake of breath as she saw the incident. Quickly she slid off the stool and reached down to help. She wasn't sure whether she should touch the person. Her reptile like tail hinted an inhuman body and Liz didn't want to unsettle the creature.
Percival faces dropped as he watched the cloak figure fall. He raised his eye brows opening his mouth to say something but as Liz rushed to help her, he shut his mouth.
"Nothing is really the matter, I must just be dehydrated I think. Thank you for your concern." She smiled honestly, but very red in the face from the man's comments. She turned to the chair he was sitting in, "I don't think we've been properly been introduced, I'm Veyalaria LeDemonique, you may call me Veya. How did you learn to read minds if it isn't too personal of a question?" She dared not to think anything else until the answer was given.
The creature looked up at Liz in surprise before rising to her feet and dusting herself off. "Sorry about that," she said softly. Not wanting to risk falling off of a stool again, she made her way to one of the chairs instead, and nestled herself in a particularly large one, her knees drawn up to her head.
"Are you sure you're quite alright? That was a nasty fall!" Veya had hardly noticed her fall, but figured that's what happened from all the commotion.
Percival smiled slighty at her and said "Dehydration should be a crime." He titled his head at her and said "You are not the first one to give me the look as you did. It usually comes with 'Are you from another time?' or 'Are you from Alice in Wonderland?'" He chuckled slighty and said "I once got a snog out of someone who thought I came from the early 1900 hundreds." He held out his hand to Veya and said "Percival Gray. At your service."
Liz rose slowly from bent knees as she watched the creature make her way to an arm chair. She closed her mouth and slowly turned to sit back on the stool. Veya asked Percivil a question and Liz found this to be something she would have wondered too, if not for the strange event that had distracted her.
Percival glanced at the cloaked figure and said "Are you alright, birdie?" He titled his head to the side and brought both hands behind his top hat, resting on his knee.
"My pleasure, I'm sure," She smiled and shook his hand genteely. Although she cringed at the word 'snog' she liked this man quite a bit already. He was unique and Veya found that prize worthy in a man. Still glancing at the recuperating reptilian.
Liz swept her eyes across the walls of the room, searching for a clock, her eyes resting on a dark-red wooden round clock. Realising the time, Liz picked up her silver laptop and walked quietly over to an armchair facing everyone else, to gain some privacy. She pulled open the lid and pressed the button to switch it on.
Veya was quite tired of this wait. "I'll be right back everyone I'm just going to see if I can find the barkeep." She picked herself up off the barstool and began to walk toward a store room looking door in hopes of getting that tea.
Percival nodded at Veya and clapped with his hands as she got up in search of tea. "Noble quest." He glanced over at Liz and wondered if the cloaked figure was doing okay.
Liz's fingers flitted across the keyboard in a blur, her eyes intent on the screen. She stopped and looked confused for a moment and looked up at Percival, then at the creature hunched up on a nearby armchair. She closed the lid of her laptop quietly. The silence in the room made Liz uncomfortable. "Do you live close by?" She asked casually of Percival.
Percival smirked at Liz and said "Depends what country we are? I take a flight and got mixed up and took a cab and ended up here." He leaned back saying "I have 17 estates around the world so I am not really sure where are so I can't really answer." He frowns, now seriously worried if he has an estate close by.
Certainly an interesting man Liz thought I wonder if he has any family, or a partner?. Liz didn't want to be too nosy, so she didn't speak her thoughts. Sliding the laptop onto a nearby table, she stood up and wandered back to her original stool by the bar. Looking out the window, she saw rain start to fall from the grey clouds. "Well we're not in Jamaica that's for sure" she sighed still looking out into the fading sky. "It's going dark already.."
Percival glanced out the window with a blank face and said "Jamaica is too hot. It was quite cold outside." He leaned back and re-crossed his legs. Tapping his fingers sightly on the brim of his top hat.
"Well," Veya sighed, "As you can tell I've failed at locating our mysterious waitress." He hand reached down to smoothe her dress pulling at the wrinkles and sprucing up her hair a bit. The curls were begining to frizz with the humidity, but only the wearer would've noticed. "What a strange place," a melancholic smile hung on her face.
Percival sighed at Veya report and said "Darling, where is the kitchen located at?" He smiled at her dress and said "That color looks fetching on you."
"Why thank you, it was a gift from an exlover of mine. He had very good taste for a man." She paused, "The kitchen seems to be behind that brown door over there. I wouldn't venture it, the light is broken." she smiled and returned to her seat urbanely and crossed her legs at the ankles.
