"Stolen memories...Who and why..... Fate has the power, or perhaps Malachi......" he mused over the thought for a bit then gave up and shrugged.
"It will be hard to identify them without further evidence. Perhaps I can aide you in such. do you have any idea why someone would want to take your memories?" he paced, his feet thudding upon the floor. Somehow he managed not to step upon any of his feathers. he seemed to get frustrated and his wings shot up. "I feel as if the other gods are just playing with us. Surely they want us to do something." He growled and clenched his hands. A feather from his wing floated in the air and was carried upon the air toward Artemis. |
Artemis closed her eyes and tried to think. "I'm not sure why someone would want to take my memory away from me. But sometimes I feel like I was supposed to do something. I can't remember what, though." She said as she shook her head. She caught the feather from the air and looked at it. Then she looked at him, remembering him mentioning 'other gods'.
"Wait a second. Gods? There are gods?" She looked as if this was new information. She had seen strange things in her travels in the past four years, but she had never heard or seen any mention of gods. And without her memory, she had probably forgotten all about it. |
He snickered at the clueless girl. "What do you think I am....a demonic angel? I am the God of Chaos...Although like you I am currently at a disadvantage. My brethren have cast me down here to do something, some errand to help better the world for your people. What that is, I know not." He had puffed up when He announced his name, his wings outstretched to their fullest in the large room. A light wind seemed to sweep about them and his sword glowed brighter. Then at once it dimmed down and he looked sullen and cross. he was more a demi-God than a God now.
"Perhaps our missions are intertwined. It surely cannot be coincidence that we are here together out in the middle of this harsh land." |
Artemis looked cross as she stared at him. "Well, what do you expect? I don't remember anything, and no one ever told me anything. I didn't ever see anyone in my travels, and even when I did, they would never talk to me. I don't even know why. It was as if people were afraid to be anywhere near me." She looked away. "I don't even know who I am, or what I'm supposed to be doing, and now I learn even more crap that I probably should have already known! ARGH!!" She screamed at the end in frustration.
She hardly noticed the God of Chaos part, so far he hadn't done anything particularly chaotic. In fact, he had moved her from the bench, he had talked to her, and he hadn't done anything to her. She looked at him, but she knew that he couldn't be lying about such a serious matter. And his wings were truly amazing. She sat there holding a single black feather from his wing. |
"Feeling a bit vexed are we?" he poked at her... Seeing the turmoil and yes chaos inside her he couldn't help put stir it up. It was his nature after all.
"Now who would be afraid to be near a little girl such as yourself. It makes sense if people are afraid of me...They should be afraid.... I could destroy and create chaos with a blink of your beautiful eyes... Do you know how to count to ten? I could teach you that as well." He smiled a little wickedly at her puffing her anger up a bit more before turning the game aside. "But enough of that. I suppose you would like a bath or something to eat hmmmm? There is a spring not too far from this building, and well...there's some wild cattle that could use thinning." |
Artemis looked away from him, ignoring his attempts to make her do anything. She was upset with herself for bursting like that to begin with. It was just so hard to keep control when she was always frustrated. She calmed herself though and looked at him again.
"Eww... that's... really not necessary." She said looking utterly disgusted. "I can get my own food. As for bathing, I suppose I do need it." She said, even though she didn't necessarily smell bad. She had managed to find an abandoned home with running water so she could wash herself, but that had been a couple of days ago. |
he laughed, "Alright girl, If you say so.... Shall I lead you to the spring then? It's a bit cold but it's actually clean enough to drink from. A rare commodity even before the destruction." He walked toward her and held out an arm to her, gentlemanly style.
Again he looked into her eyes and marveled at this creature. She had refused to continue in her despair and rage, and had gone to rationality in almost a blink of an eye. Control over ones emotions was even more rare than clean water. he would enjoy picking her over, learning bit by bit the complexity of her personality. It made him think that he was indeed put up to this. She was much to interesting to him for her to be just a coincidence. It was like the perfect wrapping done on a suspicious box. Even though you knew it might explode in your face, you couldn't help but want to unwrap it. |
Artemis took a deep breath and took his arm. "I don't see that I have much of a choice. I'd rather not get myself lost by trying to find it on my own." She said simply. She really didn't see a choice, and if she was really going to get anything done and find her way, she might end up needing his help. Even if he was a 'God'' of Chaos'. And especially if he was a God of Chaos.
"I tend to get lost a lot anyway. Always when I'm travelling on my own." She sighed and brushed a strand of hair from her face, revealing the small triangular marking on her cheek. She, of course, didn't even know it was there. She hadn't seen a mirror image of her whole face since the day she lost her memory. She knew about her multicolored hair because she had seen it reflected in the water, but she'd had the glasses on at the time, so the mark was hidden. |
He did indeed escort her. He led her away and out of the building, using the door she had kicked in. He eyed it upon closer inspection as they passed it.
"Hmmm that was more impressive than I thought... Quite a kick you got there.." He smirked, and held a chuckle within him. The air outside was dry and dusty. There was a low and wild breeze that just eddied around like a spirit alive. Of course the city was all in rubble and decaying. Some vegetation had grown, but it was course and very scrub like. No large vegetation was in this area. Although in some areas he had seen cities covered in green, as if life from the planet was taking over. Other places were dead like ti was here, as if life had given up. The pool he was taking her too, was something he had whipped up. He had called water from deep below the surface to bubble up creating a crystal clean pool in which his Godliness could bath within and even drink from. He had his pride after all. |
Artemis allowed him to lead the way and she smiled at his comment about her kick. "Well, I have kinda needed it. I had to have some way to defend myself. So I learned how to fight." She said as she walked with him. She looked around at the barren city and she frowned. "I wish I could have seen this place at it's best." She said simply as she wondered what it must have looked like before it had become like this.
|
"fighting is good." He agreed with her. War and battles were all was chaotic. He loved them. Perhaps not as much as the warlord God, but he particularly liked getting into fights himself. That ticked all his siblings off, as they had to make changes and strategies to figure out what he would do. It was like a giant board game between humans and the world up there.
chaos didn't follow rules...in fact he purposefully broke or ignored them. No wonder they had kicked him out. "The spring is here...." He went behind a rather large piece of rubble and there nestled among smooth walls that had fallen was a pool. It looked like it had been made. Well it was, Chaos did work on it a bit. |
Artemis looked at the clear pool stunned into silence. Compared to the barren city, it didn't belong. It was so pure and clean, it felt so out of place, but it was beautiful. She wasn't sure what to say. "I kinda feel like I'm standing on sacred ground or something." She said softly, not looking at Laman. She couldn't take her eyes off the pool.
|
"Well technically any ground I walk on is then sacred...if youbecome one of my worshippers tha tis....What do you say? Want to fall in divine worship of me?" He teased at her.
he stepped back knowing she'd want some privacy to bath. Not that he wouldn't mind watching her, but he wouldn't gain anything by it. Laman gestured for her to go ahead to the pool. "Feel free to use it. It's perfectly safe and clean. You can drink from it even. I'll leave you to it." He turned to go, so that she may bathe in peace. |
"I'd really rather not." Artemis said in slight annoyance as she looked at the pool. Even just the sight of the water calmed her even more and she was eager to get the chance to bathe. She turned around to thank him, but he had already vanished to give her some privacy and she smiled lightly. She walked over to the edge of the water and dipped her hand in. It was a fairly decent temperature, and she smiled further.
"Alright. Time to get clean." She stepped back a little as she began to get undressed. She dropped all her clothes on the ground by the edge of the pool and she stepped in. Several minutes later, she was getting dressed again, her hair flatter on her head than before, dripping on the dusty ground. She tossed out her hair, water flying everywhere and she laughed lightly at the feel of it. She sat on the ground as she pulled on her shirt and stared at the water. |
Laman jumped up onto another crumbling wall about three stories up. He wanted to make sure he could see around the pool, but of course not into it. He didn't like to leave things to chance. If someone was trying to get them together to do some sort of mission. there would undoubtedly be something or someone just as set against it.
He waited for the girl, scanning the area. Everything was quiet like it had been before her arrival. He wondered what the next step could be. Perhaps they would travel to a more human populated area. If he recalled correctly there should be one wouthwest of here about 30 miles. |
Artemis was simply sitting near the pool when she thought she could hear something moving around the area. She stood up and looked around, but she still couldn't see anything. She felt like she should ready herself. She needed a weapon of some kind. Just as she thought about it, a thin sword began to materialize in her hands.
Artemis stared at the thin, light weapon and then got into a stance. A large ragged looking wolf jumped out from behind a nearby building, snarling at her. Artemis narrowed her eyes and took a step back, closer to the pool. It's a dire wolf. But I thought they didn't exist. She thought calmly to herself as she watched it. The beast lunged at her and she rolled out of the way, stabbing up at the beast as she rolled underneath it. There was a weak yelp as the beast turned on her again. Artemis stared at it with wide eyes and the thin sword shifted and became thicker, sharper. "Alright then, come on." She jumped onto her feet and took a fighting stance again. The beast lunged at her one last time. She jumped over it and managed to land on it's back. It tried throwing her off, but she grabbed a hold of it's thick matted fur. She moved close to the beast's head and rammed the sword through it's skull, killing it in an instant. It fell to the ground, taking her with it, her leg getting caught under it's massive weight. "Oh, for crying out loud!" She yelled, trying to pull her leg out, but the beast was too heavy for her to move at all. |
There seemed to be something.... He couldn't tell what it was.
"Perhaps I better check the girl...." he mused to himself. He thought he heard something, and well, he didn't want to miss out on any action if there happened to be any. he jumped down and quickly crossed over to where the pool was. He heard a yelp, not a human yelp, and hurried up. When he got there he scanned the area for Artemis. he couldn't spot her at first, until he heard her voice. Ther was a furry mass over on one side of the pool. he quickly charged in, lifting the beast above his head. He didn't care if it was alive or dead, he hurled it at a wall that was 10 feet away. he stared at the carcass making sure it wasn't moving before turning his attention back to the girl. "Hmm I hate it when I miss out on the fun." he had a small wicked smile upon his face. "Are you alright?" he asked curiously. |
Artemis looked up as Laman appeared and easily lifted the dead beast off of her. She sighed and tried to sit up. Her leg moved into an awkward position and she screamed, falling back to the ground, on her back. "Dammit!" She tried sitting up only partially this time, holding her leg in position. "I'm fine for the most part, but I think my leg is broken." She said lightly. She was hardly afraid of having a broken bone, at least she wasn't dead.
"That thing came out of nowhere. I think it was a dire wolf. I've never seen one before." Artemis said, trying to ignore the dull throbbing in her leg. She looked at Laman, "Can you help me with this?" She asked, indicating her leg. |
He tsksed over her leg, looking at it without touching her. he mused over the leg and the wolf a t the same time.
"Hmm a dire wolf...That is a bit odd......This leg I might be able to deal with, but hmmmm....how do I put this? You might like it? Ah well, there's no dealing with it. You can't walk with that and I don't feel like carrying you until you're better. Alright I'm going to pick you up now." He reached down with his arms and scooped her up as gently as possible. then his wings flared out to their fullest. Their dark feather's shading them completly from the sun. slowly he wrapped them around both himself and ARtemis. It was like they were in a cocoon of feather;s. they were soft and warm against her, and almost seem to tingle or vibrate ever so softly. There was a faint hum, the feather's grew warm and brighter with a red glow. It wasn't a scarey glow, but reminded you of the blood that beat through your heart to keep you alive. A sense of peace, comfort flowed through them, it was warm and intense, like a lover's hand holding yours. Heat wrapped around her injury soothing the pain healing it. It took several minutes, and that feeling grew until at last it dispersed like scattering fish in a pond. He unwrapped his wings and the light came back. He dropped them to his sides, the feathers brushing the ground. however he still held her, a peaceful almost angelic look upon his face. "It's not a complete healing. I no longer have the power for that. Pu now it should be walkable." He stated to her calmly. |
Artemis nodded lightly and she let her legs down, gently puttig pressure onto her leg to see if it could take the weight. When she felt no pain shooting up her leg, she smiled brightly and let herself jump from his arms. She looked back at the dire wolf and sighed. "I don't know where it came from, but I thought it was supposed to be myth."
She looked at Laman. "You know, like... a creature created and controlled by one of the gods. I've heard about dire wolves, but I never believed the stories could be true." She shook her head. "I guess everything I know is being proven wrong as I continue searching for my memories." "And I really should thank you... for healing my leg and all." She smiled weakly. She looked away quickly enough. He was extremely handsome, but he was a god, and strictly off limits if that were so. After all, she was only human, so there was nothing she could do to win his heart, even if she wanted to. So instead, she was just trying to be herself, or at least, be who she was now. |
He nodded down at her. he was glad she wasn't too hurt. Much more and he wouldn't have been able to do much. his powers had become much more limited now that he was downcast here. He didn't recognize it but he felt care for this girl who had climbed into his life. It had been too long since he really interacted one on one with anyone, let alone a human girl.
"Hmmm I do believe that some of my brethren do in fact have such kinds of creatures. ?But more than one if not all are able to create and summon such things. Trying to figure out who, will take a bit more evidence...and unfortunately I think were going to get it. Ah well, perhaps it will be entertaining at the least. For now we need to decide where we go from here." ((Unfortunately I'm gonna be a bit less active... I like this rp though so hopefully you'll bear with me and want to keep going... Do you like the rp so far?)) |
(( Of course I will bare with you. I really like this rp, so I'm not gonna just let it die. ))
Artemis sighed and looked around. "I haven't the slightest clue as to where to go from here." She said sadly. "I've just been wandering, and with no one helping me, I haven't really gotten very far. Though I guess I have travelled most of the world by now." She sighed. "Four years, and I still don't know exactly who I am, or where I come from. That's pathetic." She let out a deep sigh and sank to the ground, hanging her head in shame. "That's not just pathetic, it's rediculous." She said softly. "I guess I can just never catch a break." She still had the broadsword in hand. She looked at it, remembering how it had appeared out of thin air when she needed it most. It was strange, she'd never done anything like that before. The memories of places and people when she touched them barehanded was so different. How was it possible for her to conjure matter? |
"hmmm that is really odd...and mind you, if I say that it's triply so. I think perhaps our best bet is to move on. We won't discover anything here. Perhaps if we can find the hall of records. Although I'm not sure where they are. Somewhere south of where Lightyn City used to be.... I didn't pay attention much, books were not of an interest to me at the time." he admitted with a shrug.
He would keep looking around them, his eyes trying to perceive any chance of threat. He didn't like to be the one surprised upon. He was the one who liked to surprise others. Not the other way around. |
Artemis took a deep breath as she stood up again. She turned to look at Laman, keeping the sword in hand, for now. She couldn't simply carry around a weapon without having a sheath for it. And as soon as she thought about it, a leather sheath appeared out of thin air right in front of her. She grabbed it out of the air, her eyes narrowing as she put the sword inside and attached the sheath to her belt.
She looked up at Laman. "I suppose anything is better than sitting around waiting to be attacked again." She said simply as she turned her head to gaze at the dead dire wolf. It still felt strange that it had come out of nowhere, just like her powers. She wasn't used to any of this, she was only human, she wasn't supposed to have powers of any kind. "Hold on a second, I want to try something." She said softly as she pulled off the glove on her right hand. She walked over to the dire wolf and layed her hand, palm face down on the beast's matted fur. She closed her eyes and uttered a slight gasp as her power took her back into the past, watching events through the eyes of the dire wolf. "You must not let that girl learn of her past. Go, attack, take her down." Came a smooth, masculine voice. Artemis could not see who was speaking, the dire wolf was too busy watching something through a crystal. It was watching her as she made her way towards the ancient ruined city. Before she had even run into Laman. "Go, my dire wolf, and do not fail me." The voice said again, somewhat feircely. And the memory ended there. Artemis fell back away from the dire wolf. She lifted her right hand off the beast and lifted it to rub her forehead. The voice told her nothing about who it was that had sent the beast. But it proved that someone was out to destroy her. She wasn't sure if she was meant to be important in some way, but someone wanted her dead and out of the way. It was a lot to handle, but she wasn't about to lie down and let them win. "Whoever sent the dire wolf will probably send something else after me. So I'm thinking we should definitely keep moving." She got herself up off the ground as she pulled the glove back on her right hand. She didn't want to have an unintentional vision of the past again. She would rather make it so that she was always trying to have visions, rather than having them by mistake. |
He glanced at her curiously as she managed to conjure a sheath out of the air... Come to think of it, where did she get that sword as well. there was something familiar and yet, different about the blade. Somehow it just wasn't coming to him. He clenched his fists tightly in his frustration. He walked closer to her and watched as she pulled off her glove.
"Wha..." He stopped talking as she concentrated her eyes, seeing something, that was not there. Laman leaned in closer staring at her. Who and what was this girl. She was more than she appeared. What was it about this girl that tugged at his locked heart. A memory or more of a feeling really, whispering from the cracks of his heart. 'It will be alright. you'll manage.' A gentle voice, a soft hand upon his cheek. 'Don't do this, you can't, i can't..." He held a woman cradling her within his arms, afraid to let go, afraid to hold her to close. "I will come...I will see you again..." 'don't leave me, please.' the woman smiled at him/ 'The God of Chaos does not beg, beloved. It doesn't suite you.' "no......NO!' He shook his head violently, trying to shake the thoughts from his head. He envied the girl who was here before him. If only he too could forget. He looked into her eyes, wondering how she had done it. he leaned closely in toward her face. Jumping back a little when she snapped out of whatever it was she was in. "Ah, Yes. I always preferred a chase to an ambush. We should grab some water and other supplies from here and head out as soon as we can." |
