His world of darkness gave way to the light, he saw the figures fighting above him. His body racked with agony and suffering. He lifted his head and felt the excess blood flow freely from his mouth and nose. He saw the woman from the coffee shop, couldn't help but wonder what she was doing there, how she found him... and what Reaper was doing to her. He found himself overcome with hatred and rage but no way to release it, his body to weak and fragile to allow him to help, his head fell back to the pavement as he coughed a little blood out of his system. He then saw the vial sticking out of the Reaper's pocket from under that cloak, the practically glowing liquid called to him like a siren. He needed it, he reached out for it with an outstretched arm caked in blood. His energy, rage, everything he had was placed into this one opportunity to possibly gain the upper hand. He snatched the vial and brought it to his chest, his eyes closed as he could smell his victory. He twisted the top off the vial and the sweet aroma filled his blood soaked nostrils, a sweetened smell of ecstasy blotted out the copper taste of the blood. He threw the liquid into his mouth in a maddened frenzy. The honey and vanilla toxin lingered for what seemed like hours in only a few seconds. His freezing body was warmed and the pain slipped away from him. Mark felt the wounds sealing and bones mending adding to his pleasure and joy. His vision faded before his body gave out and fell... to a mound of freshly grazed grass that felt like feathers to his now healed body.

Derrick had pulled out the case of Ambrosia vials on the floor. The milky liquid cast a faint light on Ace's face as he walked into the room. The breeze was gone, and so were the faint whispers. Derrick had led Ace straight to a drug dealer's house, but appearantly the wife was oblivious to her husband's life. The faint scent of honey and vanilla wafted towards Ace, encircling him. Everything about the drug called Ace to it, like a siren's song.
==== The same set of feet stood in front of Mark, as he laid in the beautiful grass. The blonde hair covering all the bare necessaties (No pun intended), as that gorgeous set of green eyes looked down at him. A smile gracefully placed on her apple red lips. "Ares. I knew you wouldn't be able to resist temptation." She said, bending at the waist and offering him her hand. "It's time that you reawaken." |
Ace squinted against the small light, drawing him closer to the vials that Derrick had pulled out. It was so tempting to just take a small sip of that, but he knew that it wouldn't be able to stop. Temptation was a horrible, horrible thing and even so he wanted to give into it. He walked and walked until he was next to one of the vials of milky liquid. Don't...ask before..before.. Before he knew it he had uncorked the vial and white drink was dripping down his gullet, emptied within a minute. And then he popped into that meadow...

As Derrick went off with a woman in hysterics to investigate a crime, and watched Ace tail them, though she believed he was trying not to be spotted, she came about realizing how late it was. Picking up her jacket and throwing the hood up over her head, she spotted Alexia with a co-worker from the coffee house and a stranger. Walking away to her store, she called out "Goodnight Alexia!" and waved.
She entered the store, pressing in the combination to turn her alarm off. She walked towards the back and from there pushed on the wall - a secret entrance to upstairs, and her temporary home in the city. She didn't think anyone had really known about it when she bought the place, except for perhaps the people who built it. It didn't matter though. Climbing a spiral staircase and reminding herself to fix the squeak of the stairs, she walked down a small hallway into her bedroom. It smelled of lavender incense and a variety of tiny gemstones - sapphires, fluorite, different quartz crystals, and many more twinkled dimly as she flicked on the light. Falling on her bed, moaning a sigh of relief. It'd been a hard day. Spilling her secret to not just one human, but two? At least it seemed she could trust them. But what of Alexia and the angry redheaded man? Who knew what would to come. Suddenly her attention was pulled to her meditation crystal. From across the room, different blurs and colors passed by. Picking it up gently and bringing it to her bed, she gazed deeply within to see what was happening. A strong breeze broke open one of her windows and looking up out a small skylight, she saw lightning crack. Something was going on, and her crystal ball was giving her a sign. She gasped as she saw Derrick laying on a floor unconscious. Then the picture changed to a woman in her birthday suit standing with two others. Her eyes widened in deep surprise. Are those...the Fates!? They had a conversation with Derrick, but he looked different - more...godly. Derrick disappeared and the Fates turned...to look directly at her. "You have done well to follow your heart and intuition here, and now is the beginning of change. Go find those young ones whom you met earlier. You must help them guide them when and where we cannot." As Chiara went to ask where to find them, they cut her off. "The way to them will be in your heart, for we will lead the way in spirit," they spoke, before her crystal ball went clear once again. Through her window the moon seemed to glow even brighter, casting a glow on a few select stones she had collected, but hadn't connected to - though at the time she didn't know why. She grabbed a small leather messenger bag, tossing the stones inside. Before exiting back into the main level and outside, she grabbed a cloak and flung it over her shoulders. After about fifteen minutes, she was led to a building. The woman she had seen earlier was running away, so Chiara knew she was in the right place. While jogging towards the building, she mauled into Derrick and fell back, the hood of her cloak falling off as well. "So you are here! But what of the other guy? You know he was following you and that woman," she pointed in the direction of where the woman had fled. |
Mark's head was in a spin, he didn't know how he end up here, and strangely enough it didn't matter to him. When his eyes opened he saw the woman standing over him. 'Ares' she called him... 'Ares'... yes a powerful name, a name to be feared. Why didn't he know before... he was someone to be feared by all who stood against him. He felt powerful again, and it was glorious. He took the woman's hand and pulled himself up... he breathed air and opened his eyes truly for the first time. He could hear the sounds of battle, bloodshed and screams... war, merciless brutality from across the world filled his ears like honey blended with lustful pleasures. He allowed it all to sink in, before speak to them. "I am Ares... I am... the God of War." The gravity of the situation finally came down on him. He looked to the woman before asking the important question. "What happened to me? I don't remember... anything."
|
Railey inhaled more smoke and stared dully at the coworker and sneered. "Eh, what's it to you? Maybe I wanna take others when I die from these things?"
He then looked back to Alexia with his deep ocean eyes. He was definitely not expecting the reaction she had given him. Throwing the cancer stick to the ground, Rai stomped it out and waved the smoke away. "Well, nice to meet you, Alexia. I'm Railey." He said cooly, smirking to the coworker, almost as a taunt. |
"Eh?" Alexia said and looked between the two men confused. She really hoped they wouldn't fight. "Oh um... this is Jake," She said introducing her coworker to interrupt the tense silence. She smiled. Railey didn't seem too bad, although it was kind of rude for him to blow smoke in their faces. She wondered what he was doing out this late. Did he just get done with work too?
|
The woman smiled, "Yes, Ares... You have finally awoken to your blood. The blood of a God." Her hands were folded in front of her, her jade eyes looking into his; "What you were as a human matters not now, seek out the others. Though you will have your differences, you must fight alongside one another."
The cloaked woman twitched and her voice came out as a moan of five rather than one; "They will destroy themselves, slowly... one by one..." She took in a deep breath as if emerging from water that had strangled her before. She twitched and went back to swaying from side to side, her body bound in chains. "But Ares, we must part. Reawaken to you new life." She tilted his head towards her and lay a delicate kiss upon his forehead. The meadow faded for him as he returned back to the alley were the Reaper and Anarith were. But Ace was only starting to awaken in the Meadow. The woman walked over to where he lay and gave him that heart warming smile. "Hermes. Welcome back, our little messanger." She said offering him a hand. Derrick stumbled back, but within the blink of an eye caught Chiara in his arms before she could fall. The moonlight reflected off his skin giving him a powerful or visible(to the naked eye) aura. His blue eyes looked over her, as if seeing her clearly for the first time. Before she had looked like a woman who was just a crazy. Now her skin glowed with an inner light that rippled like water. "...Chiara..." He said her name softly, before being brought back to reality with her questions. "... Nobody followed me." He said quietly. He helped her back to her feet and released her. |
Ares... it may had been a hallucination but the power that he felt was certainly not. When he returned to the alley he looked at his hands as though the blood of countless millions were on them. He would do what he was told, he needed to reunite the others... but where to begin? Suddenly he remembered Reaper and the woman from the coffee shop. He slowly turned to face him, his blood felt like fire within in his veins. Countless years of violence and blood shed laid in his past and suddenly Reaper didn't seem like a threat, but rather a bothersome insect in need of a good crushing. "You! Ready for round two?" He pointed at The Reaper and to declare his challenge fully and unquestionably.
Gerald took Emily's arm to help him remain stable along with his cane. "Your personality could use some tweaking... just a suggestion. I think you should have your head examined, what if the police raided the place and found you here?" He shuffled alongside her as they left The Pit together. "I'm far too old to bail you out of trouble all the time." He joked affectionately, remembering that ambrosia. It certainly couldn't hurt to take something that would make him stronger, healthier. Then maybe Emily wouldn't worry about him so much. |
The Reaper turned away from Anarith, a wide grin on his face. "I do love it when the prey plays hard to get." His raspy voice silthering between his teeth and lips, following his errie chuckle. He ignored Anarith and took a stance to fight Mark. That laughter echoing in the back of his throat.
"You know I don't go looking for trouble, Gerald. Hell, the most trouble I ever get into, is planting a garden on top of your dig site." She said with a smile. She pulled out a small vial that carried that strange milky liquid from before. "Besides," she said with a smirk, "I snagged this off of one of the customers. I think it's enough to put the club out of business. This stuff hasn't even been out of the market very long, and it's already being sold in public. Remember that detective guy in the Coffee shop? I figure I'd turn it in to him." |
Anarith watched on in wonder as Mark appeared taller and more threating... She stumbled against a wall as she peered into his heart...
She clutched her head between her hands in pain, she saw blood and heard the cries of millions... But there was one voice heard above them all... "I am Ares! God or War!", the flame red hair, the muscle packed body... The blood stained armour and hands... She slide silently down the wall as her head throbbed, something seeming to be pounding at the inside of her head... Trying to get out... Despite her achind head she eased her eye open, hoping to see what was happening around her. |
Mark lifted up the empty vial into plain sight. He smiled before looking back towards the Reaper. "Interesting stuff, I've never felt better." He tossed the vial over his shoulder and rushed Reaper with inhuman speed, he noticed that the Reaper's smile faltered slightly at the notice of the empty vial. A fist of fury and rage slammed into the Reaper, so powerful that it sent him flying from the alley and through a passing bus, the bus slammed on it's brakes to figure out what had happened but the Reaper had already gone through it like a BB through a tin can. The Reaper would roll into an alley across the street before coming to a halt. Ares showed no sign of pursuit but rather noticed something on the ground, he hit the Reaper so hard that he had dropped two more vials of the ambrosia. He quickly lost interest in the fight and collected the vials. When he looked around him, he saw the world through the eyes of a God of War, the sky was black and inflamed with hellfire and screams of the damned. Road work a few blocks away rang in his ears as though he were right there listening to the destruction of the ground. The buildings were weak and fragile to him it seemed they would come crashing down at any moment. The rain that fell from the sky was that of a beautiful crimson, it was a glorious hellish landscape, and Ares understood... this was his new utopia. He looked to the woman who had been thrown to the ground and saw something that was strangely familiar. Almost a memory that was beyond grasp. His warlike nature and brutality had strangely been subsided and he reached his hand out to her to help her up. "Are you... alright?"
|
Anarith, gingerly took his hand... Her entire being flinched initially before seeming to ease in his presence...
"Who are you?" she whispered out, her eyes seeking out his face. She couldn't see his face straight from the shadows that were cast by the light. She helped herself up using his hand and the wall behind her. She leaned against the wall slightly, watching him from barely opened eyes. Her breath was shallow as she tried to rally her thoughts into place. Her hair was soaking wet causing it to hang in lank pieces across her face... She swiped it out of the way to get a better look at him... |
"Her-Hermes?" Ace stuttered, not sure what to make of it. Despite this, he took the girl's hand, getting up rather easily. What didn't come easy to him was the answer to how the hell he got into this grassy meadow and why this girl called him a messenger. It's probably just a drug induced hallucination. It's probably just a sign I've gone crazy. This isn't real right? But it certainly felt that way. He knew that "Hermes" was the Greek god of thieves and such, but what did that have to do with him?
|
He watched her for a moment, trying to see the real her. Not just the facade of her mortal coil, but what lay hidden beneath. Sleeping within her was something powerful and familiar. Flashes came to mind of golden long hair, nights of lust and passion filled hours of pleasure, but that was not all... hurtful memories were there too, flashes of pain and betrayal. His mind was broken and fragmented and he couldn't force the memories any further. All he knew was a strange and forgotten desire for her that couldn't go much longer unanswered. He pulled one of the vials from his pocket that he had taken from Reaper and held it out to her. "Drink this, it'll make you feel better... and help answer your questions." He would've added that it would also answer his own, but he needed to know for certain first. He had to know who this woman was to him, and he knew that Ambrosia would bring forth answers to all of his questions if not more.
Gerald looked at the vial and felt a strange pull, one he had not felt in years. A pull of greed and longing. He didn't even know what he was doing until it happened. He had taken the vial away from Emily and had already pressed it to his dry lips. The liquid was honey going down and he felt strength returning to his body. The wrinkles faded away and his dim eyes grew strong again. His spine twisted and straightened out his back and he seemed to grow taller. A beard of youthful black hair grew from his chin and jaw, his tired limbs felt strength within them again as the muscles of his body find inhuman strength and power. He gasped before falling towards the pavement and instead landed ionto the beautiful grass of the ancients. |
((HOLY CRAP! They just keep popping up don't they! LMAO! The fates sure do have their hands full. 0_0! ))
The Reaper, crazy, but not willing to risk another hit like that slowly stood, his breath was shallow and his smile faultered. He fled, wanting to remain alive for at least a little while longer. ==== The woman gave him a understanding smile, "The meadow, the grass the songs of birds that you hear... that is all a hallucination, but we are not. Your true nature has awoken. See the world through the eyes that lie from deep within and know that war is about to come. Gather the others, those who have awoken and those who have yet to remember. Be the messenger that you are." She said placing a hand on Ace's cheek. Her green eyes were kind and understanding while her touch was 100 percent real. The golden waves cascaded over shoulder as she bent over to gently place a kiss on his forehead. She knelt down and touched his ankles, small transluscent ethereal wings fluttered before dissappating. "You will see soon enough. Awaken now, Hermes. Breathe in your new life." She said, before the meadow grass faded and Ace was once again in the apartment building alone with the man who lay on the bed. The body lay there, unmoving, not breathing. He was now just a corpse slaughtered by the drug Ambrosia, the drink of the Gods. ==== "GERALD!" Emily quickly fell to her knees as she caught the man, the vial slowly rolling out of his hand. The transformation dumbfounded her, his black hair was thick and beard the blackest of blacks. The wrinkles faded before her eyes as he became heavier, his limbs were laced with muscles that she had never seen before. Her green eyes grew wide with confusion as she ran a finger under his cheek. Youth... She knew the drug was suppose to bestow youth on you, but this was an almost impossible transformation. He couldn't be more than fourty years old, if that! She shook him in her arms, trying to stir him, but he was unresponsive. "Ger... Shit..." Tears started to well up in the corners of her eyes and she shook him again. ==== The Bare woman knelt down beside Gerald who lay in the grassy field. Her hand reached out and touched his cheek with an almost endearing feel to it. "Hades... It's been a long time since we've seen eachother, friend." She said in a soft voice. "Awaken from your former life and breathe in your new one." |
Anarith looked up at him uncertainly, licking her lips before bringing the vial to her lips and take the cork between her teeth. She spit it out and then dumped the liquid content down her throat. It tasted so good going down, nothing she'd ever tasted before could compare to that...
Her body became limp, as she fell back... her eyes closing, but instead of pavement under her... It was a soft patch ofgrass... It cradled her form as her mind difted away. |
Hermes, the messenger of the Gods. It made sense now why he was so fast and why he was such a kleptomaniac. Ace tried to grab her hand when his ankles were touched, only for his hallucination to fade away into nothingness. What was that? How could the setting be fake but her touch be so real? This was all too strange. Still, this meant that "other" gods and goddesses must be in existence and must mean that other people had already been "awakened" before himself. Was that guy one of them? He had taken a similar drug. Still, that would be a good place to start. Getting up from the floor, he dusted himself off and ran out of the apartment, not wanting to be near the corpse.
|
As Derrick caught her, she blushed and noticed his new glowing aura. "What are you, Superman?" she asked lightly and jokingly as he caught her. But she was brought back to reality when he said no one followed them. "You're wrong...the blond kid was tracking after you and that woman...he's here, I sense it! We need to find him," she exclaimed as the sirens wailed louder. They were approaching quickly and if her and Derrick-not Artemis were to find Ace-turned-Hermes and get out of there, they needed to do it now. "Come on, let's go!" she said, grabbing his hand and tugging in the direction towards the building.
|
Ares captured her limp body and carefully lowered her to the ground as she left his world to meet with the fates. He knew she would return... and her aura was beginning become even brighter. He began to understand more as he waited.
He sat up slowly and came to recognize those around him. Like a reunion of old companions that had been long lost. He felt welcomed by them and he stood feeling life back within him again. "It's been so long... so very long." He spoke aloud to himself before standing before the fates and finding all the familiar sights around him. He became enthralled with his new body, he took in a deep breath and felt as though it had been ages since he truly felt alive. It's only begun... I have a task before me don't I?" |
The woman smiled and nodded. "Always the wise, my dear Hades. A war is soon to break out. You need to awaken the others and help restore the Olympian Gods. They should not be hard to seek out. Ares, Hermes, Artemis, and now you have all breathed in your new lives. Gather them, though I know it will not be easy to do so." She said as she placed a kiss on his forehead. Both hands framed his skull as a helmet cloaked his face briefly before disappearing. "Good Luck Hades." She said with a smile before fading from his sight. As he left their world she turned and offered a hand to Anarith. "You haven't changed at all, my dear Aphrodite. Please Awaken to your true self."
Emily still cradled Gerald's body, rocking back and forth with it. "Gerald, please wake up...." She could hear sirens going off in the background and her head followed the sound as they zipped by, before turning back to him. 'What are you, Superman?' Chiara joked after he had caught her. A smile tweaked the corners of his lips up, as he watched her. "Among other things." He replied, but he was cut short as she started running with him. He kept pace, and held onto her hand. "The college student from the coffee shop?" He asked her as he ran alongside her. He had never felt so alive before. |
Running was so much easier now, as if there was no friction and no resistance against his body. Ace/Hermes felt like he was in heaven. But he had no time to indulge. He needed to find "the others". Which of the other gods and goddesses awakened? He stopped for a moment, his momentum instantly dissipating. That was kind of cool. Looking around, he realized that he was already on the bottom floor of the building. That was fast, but he didn't even feel tired. Well even less not tired.
|
(The Fates.... Grr tired... Late night... No it was the Muses that were Zues' daughters.. Or were they the same? No they weren't... *mumbles to self*)
Anarith blinked and looked at the woman in front of her, offering her hand. Aphrodite.... She closed her eyes and opened them again before reaching for the hand offered to her. She looked at the woman in front of her. "Goddess of Love..." she whispered to herself quietly... Remembering some of her past, such as the passionate tryst with Ares, the love she'd found... Their son Eros... Being caught by her husband.... Her vengeful nature.... She looked at the woman in front of her, a slight smile covering her lips... A Fate... |
((Oh sweety. D; Go get some sleep. Don't strain yourself, as if I am one to talk. Lol. But seriously don't strain yourself sweety *Hugs Nether*))
"You remember, don't you my dear?" The blonde said as she pushed some hair from Anarith's face. "You have awoken to a previous form, a form that is foriegn to you, but so intimate. We have awoken you, because, like we have told some of the others that have already breathed in their new life, there is a war coming. You and the others must gather together to keep the Humans from destroying themselves. Do you understand?" |
(I ish fine... Me must go home though... I hate school... Grrr.... I'll be on for a lil while longer... Then I'm taking my butt home for a late night session on the phone... But I'm fine, my thought process is just screwy)
Aphrodite smiled at the woman in front of her. "I understand, I'll help, so what happens should we fail?" she didn't really happen to care for much other than life and love. And if it meant going thorough some rough times to make sure both existed she had better get with it..... She gazed at the Fate, this was probably going to be a breif converstation, since this was a Fate, great Olympus how she'd hated having to listen like this before. But she could afford to be patient.... This once... |
