Mahjii considered all that had been said by the others. He didn't speak up during the exchange, as he typically listened and learned, and then, if there were questions yet unanswered, he would ask them. But the task at hand seemed simple. Watch the strangers, if any were to emerge. The new information was startling to him; he had never seen a vessel so large, nor one that came from the skies. Birds only flew so high, and it seemed this thing came from beyond their reach. He shook his head before speaking up. So many voices were already volunteering.
"I will also help undertake this task. It is vital we understand these creatures and why this tragedy has befallen so many. And to prevent further suffering."
The sounds of outrage had quieted since the arrival of the elders, but he could hear their mourning. A few new beings had also arrived to look upon the thing that had fallen from the heavens. Surely the news had spread far. Many villages were probably wondering what kind of thing could wreak such havoc. He silently hoped the beings inside did not intend this. He suffered to see life lost, even the life of hostile creatures, for he believed all souls had the ability to live in harmony with others. Death removed that choice, that chance for redemption, and that was the most tragic of all.
