It all started out as a bit of curiosity. The visits to the ‘surface’. The observation of the creatures with… legs. He didn’t just watch humans, but birds as well. Anything he could get his eyes on he would observe. As time went on, he realized something. Maybe it wasn’t as simply as curiosity. Maybe he was a little bit jealous as well. The birds had the land and the air. They conquered two worlds while he was stuck just barely pushing out of a fish bowl. He often listened to their stories however! And then there was the two-legged creatures… they were just as lucky as the birds even if they did not have wings to fly with, they had so many other things that this little fish could not even begin to imagine. As much as he loved the shore and the surface, Zale would have to force himself back under water due to frustration. He’d have to move himself all the way back down to the deepest parts of the sea where his home was. Aquor…. It was no Atlantis, the glamour, the life that was in that place…. It was much different from that of Aquor. Even the royal families were highly different. You see…. Aquor was in the pit and crevice of the sea. The dark places where all stranger looking fish lived. These fish often didn’t get along with those from Atlantis because of how they looked—and it wasn’t just the fish from Atlantis that rejected Aquorians, it was the merpeople from all over. Like fish from the deep sea, most Aquorian’s could glow, they were cold blooded and usually had very sensitive eyes to sunlight since they hardly went to the surface. They liked the low lights that they all produced. That’s all they needed.
That being said, it was only typical to expect that Zale would surface during the evening when the sky lights were low. He experience the bright lights and the dark lights that the surface had. His eyes weren’t used to it for the first while he visited the surface, but over time, his eyes were able to adjust and even now he could go out during the day, but that didn’t mean he liked it as much as when it were night. There were so many kinds of lights in the middle of the darkness. He would see beams through the sky that would come from on top of large cliffs and there were little dots of lights in the sky as if there was another lay to the world that was just like the one he came from, all the blinking lights were also glowing creatures, just like the fish where he had come from. It was yet another reason why he liked it to be dark when he came to the surface.
There was just… one little thing… Boats. They lit the night as well. Some with cannon fire and battle and other’s with festivity and parties. Zale could just see the two-legged creatures throwing garbage over-board and debris from the battle drift off in the ocean. He couldn’t understand how they could be that wasteful and that’s where his problem started. His frustration and jealous brought him to wish them to die. They were going to kill each other anyways, so he started to help the process along. For battle ships, the man-fish would start to sing. His medium voice would carry well in the open sea and he would lead them into tides, whirl pools, and cliffs. Those who partied he only ever wished to join and would do the same thing, even knowing they would die from it, he continued to lead the happy people in song from his own selfishness. It never made him happy though. Who was he supposed to be happy when he couldn’t play with them because they died? This night… This evening he had a different plan. He wasn’t just going to let them die. He wanted one. He wanted his very own human! They all laughed, his siblings in Aquor, they avoided the surface, but he swore to them that he would get his very own human to play with and that’s just what he planned to do!
The evening stars were out again, but only in a couple places where the patchy blanket of clouds let them shine through. His wet blond hair clung to the pale, soft skin of his that nearly appeared as if it were glowing. In the distance, his gem-like eyes saw a travelling vessel, his heart pounded with excitement and anticipation. He would have a two-legged for himself! He didn’t what it would look like, but from this ship he now spotted, he was going to take one somehow. The plan…? Well… he didn’t exactly have one… not yet.
The swimmer with the brown-orange tail started off for the vessel in the distance. He wanted to be closer, he needed to be closer. His voice carried, but from this distance, it would be soft and if it was a party ship, there was the obvious chance that no one would hear it. He wasn’t going back home a failure. He had to start something! Zale flipped and jumped back under the wave of water before he quickly started his way off towards the ship. His heart seemed to pound a little bit louder and more excitedly as he approached the ship and the bottom of it became larger and larger. The type of ship he recognized almost instantly. For as much as he had been around ships, he knew the difference between them unlike many fish that he knew and even lived with. This wasn’t a king’s ship and it definitely wasn’t a cargo ship. It wasn’t a ship simply for fun, but it was actually a pirate ship. A pirate…. Most of the pirate ships he had seen before had an ornament of some kind, many of them mermaids. ”You will do it.” He told himself softly, ”If anything, they should be afraid of you!” He affirmed with a grin on his face.
The game was on and no one could beat him, no one.
He was to either be caught in a net or to catch a two-legged creature in a net of his own. The blond haired mermaid cleared his throat and looked at the ship that wasn’t by his side. Where was the nearest whirl pool? Where was there a tunnel cloud that could suck them up like a vacuum and spit them out? He got an image into his head before he started to move away from the ship in the direction of his intended place. It wouldn’t be too long if they followed the sound of his voice. When at the edge of the distance he could make his voice travel for sure, he stopped. The boat was still in sight, but it was a dot in the distance. His net wasn’t far from here at all. With that in mind and himself in place, the mermaid started to sing. His voice came out just as majestic as it was loud. The empty space that surrounded the middle of the sea helped carry it for miles upon miles and here he would wait before he guided this ship further into the hand of the sea. ”You are the lighthouse, the sea mark. The tempest created this time. I’m hold to the black silver ocean where the current and the heavens collide. You are the brick, I’m so unpredictable. Lead by the current away. Your solid stage is so necessary to save all those who astray. You are the navigator who never could be. You were lost in the silver sea. I was the ship who was too proud to sink. I am your thought but the water’s amnesia. My names on the tip of your tongue. My image is slipping, your memory is gripping, this is my breath in your lungs. You are the navigator who never could be. You were lost in the silver sea. I was the ship who was too proud to sink. Echo, my voice is an echo of places you don’t know and stories that have been told. Echo, we all are connected. A lighthouse, a voyage. For histories sake would you please take notice?” His strong, powerful yet soft voice carried to the ship with the hopes to catch someone’s attention if not more than one person and start to change their mind of their course. His voice held an androgynous sound to it so it wasn’t easily distinguished between that of a man’s voice and that of a woman’s voice. Not that it would affect any part of the seduction that was held within a siren’s song. When you listened to a siren sing, one often forgot about the sex of the person—or mermaid in general.
His heart poured into it. He was tired of listening to them. They’ve called him silly for as long as he could remember. Down in the deep, they didn’t know what he did here. They didn’t know he destroyed things by simply using his voice to mislead, and here he was misleading them by not informing them that they could do that. Well, just wait to see what they say when they see his hand-picked prize from this. The cutest of the bunch would be the one he saved. The rest could die for all he cared. The prince of the deep wasn’t a very soft-hearted man. It wasn’t something to figure out if you ever spoke with him. It wasn't something he was ashamed of.

The ship that Zale had his eye on belong to a feared group of pirates. Their Captain was called 'One Eyed Raymond'. Raymond receieved his name, because when he was a young man, he was in a terrible accident while training to become part if his town's Navy. Raymond lost an eye, and since he could bearly see, the heart-broken Raymond, soon found the numming comfort at his town's bars. One night, before yet another fight was going to break out, a man approched Raymong."Hey, let's talk for a moment."He told the half-drunk man. Raymond listened, and the two sat at the bar."What do you wanna talk about?"Raymond asked leaning against the bar top.'I have this crew right, and we need more people to join since we're a little short. You interested?"Raymond frowned, confused at this man's offer."I have a pirate crew, and we're looking for new members."Now Raymond got it,and so he thought about his offer. After a second, Raymond held out his hand"Why not!Call me Raymond."The man smiled and took Ray's hand.Welcome aboard Ray,call me Speedy.
Now years later, Raymond is a proud Pirate Captain. He was just finishing his conquest over a smaller travellers ship. They added a good amount of money, and treasure to his cargo, as well as a few new crew members. While the crew was below deck partying, Ray was up navigating the ship. He never wanted to be in anotehr accident again,so he neevr partied while they were on the move.Half way through their journey, that's when Raymond heard the singing. In an instant, he turned the ship towards the sound of Zale's voice. The crew members down below didn't catch wind of the song until a few minutes later, they all became silent as ever, and one by one came up top. They looked around to see who was singing that beatuiful song. Raymond didn't look around, hsi sight was fixed on this one point. That point was where Zale made his trap, and the Pirate Captain was heading right for the trap full speed.

The attention of the ship was his. Center stage belonged to no one other than the mermaid whom broke surface in the night with corrupt intentions of ownership. Ownership… might have gone just a little bit far. It was a very thin line with this prince of the deep between owner ship and companionship. Call the fish ignorant, but he wasn’t entirely sure of the difference. Every companion he’d had up to this point was basically owned by him because of his status. The palace servants, his father owned him, thus that’s how he saw it. The birds and creatures above water whom he made bonds with were just the beginning of him starting to learn, but no connections were made mentally yet at all. His reflective eyes opened as his voice carried on and in the distance, the ship he had himself aimed for had changed it’s course. Instead of going to the east, it would now come to the south.
A grin pulled up onto the soft, pale lips of the boy and he continued to call. His own chants within his head, his own encouragements! It wouldn’t be long until he had his own. Until he was the one with a person that none of them could take away and none of them would be able to say trashy things about him!
The clouds closer to the large whirlpool were just a bit darker the closer you got in, but it wasn’t a drastic change and there wasn’t much of a storm. Light drops of water would start to fall down the closer the ship was to get. Zale kept himself at a distance—one that got smaller and smaller as they both became closer to the inward swirl. He would have no fear of drowning with his gills. He knew how to make his way out of a whirlpool. Even the strongest of them. Zale realized that the two legged creatures could not breathe underwater, so if he wished to save one, he would have to rescue it quickly before it was sucked in with all of the others. He would have to be careful that it wouldn’t suck up that much water. He heard that two-legged creatures were greedy and that pirates were the worst. He didn’t know how greedy they would be come to this. Would they beg for death to come faster?
Call it sadistic, but after a while, Zale started to wonder… everyone was different. Some people actually wished to die before he brought them into the storms. Some people would fight and fight and—regret the day that they decided to go sailing. The boy actually enjoyed learning which way each person chose to go. He wondered which way his pet would choose. Would his pet wish for death? Would he have to force it not to jump back into the water? It would be like house training—except he wouldn’t be able to ever take it to the depths where he lived, and not just because of the amount of air it would take just to get there. It was so much more complex than that.
Zale’s body swayed ever so lightly to the rhythm of the song he sang mixed with the sounds of the waves that drove his body crazy. It drove his body to move, to want to feel. The smell of sea water could sometimes get to him as well. He knew what it was, but ignored the feeling for things he could do without companionship. One of those things was in fact, dancing—or at least what he called dancing. ’Rocking you into to your cradle of water. Keep your eyes clear, don’t you falter. The cutest one is who is saved, so for your own life, you better pray.’ The dark words went through his head with that grin upon his lips. The water should be getting high now. The ship should be getting pulled into the whirlpool. The sooner it was sucked down, the better. The sooner—clams. He heard a splash. He heard a splash that was not the whirlpool.
Zale’s gem-like eyes scanned the horizon while he kept his voice up. It would stay loud and strong until that ship was broken and half way down the whirlpool. Until people started falling off and scrambling for their lives or… doing what they would do. His plans were going to run short if he just stopped. He could see them, off in the distance… mermaids from Atlantis. ’Clams! How did they know I was here?’ He mentally growled. The shiny people from the higher surface—no, they weren’t shiny like people from Aquor, they were shiny clean. Shiny GOOD. King Triton… and his daughters. Zale despised Triton and his daughters. Double clams! They saw him! They just went under the water! No, no, no! He didn’t have his two-legged creature yet and the ship was already sinking! He was not going to let the stupid Atlantians screw this up for him! ’Now sink you damn ship!’
|| No worries at all.
I've been there before too. >.< ||

((Thanks))
The ship closed in on the whirlpool, however no one on the ship noticed the clouds becoming darker. Raymond, as soon as the ship hit the clouds, speed up the ship. He followed the sounds of Zale's voice, and wanted to see who he was. Minutes passed and the ship hit the whirpool. Most of the crew including Speedy was thrown to the left, Raymond, however was through forward. Screams of the pirates were heard, some hit rocks on the way down, so the only thing one could see was a floating dead or unconscious body. Raymond however, was on the edge of the pool of swirling water, and his trance was broken. "Speedy! What happened!"Raymond called grabbing on to a near by rock. Speedy didn't answer. " Speedy!Answer me! The pirate captain then looked behind him,and saw his floating body, get sucked down into the pool. "No!...Raymond exclaimed. The Captain soon let go of his rock, since he was too tired to hold on. With his rapidly fading consciousness, Raymond saw the clouds above him, and the night sky. This wasn't how he wanted to go. Tricked by some creature of the ocean. Maybe the same thing will save him from a watery grave, or even another passing ship might be able to help him get out of this mess.
Whatever the case maybe, Raymond looked over his life, and realized he shouldn't have gotten so upset at the fact that he couldn't become a sailor. Maybe he should have just become a fisherman instead, he could have a happy life making good and honorable money, plus he wouldn't be in this mess in the first place. On the flip side though, he would have never met Speedy, who he grew to love as family. All his crewmen were like family to him.
Raymond found another rock, it was the last one before he'd fall into the whirlpool completely. I can't die....not like this... All of his crewmen including Speedy were already sucked down into the death pool, and Raymond didn't want to join them Oh someone please...save.....me.....With the last of his strength gone, Raymond let go of the rock, and started to descend into the whirlpool.

Their voices…. Zale always enjoyed the voices of those from the land. He could only hear them if he came close and usually mixed together during festivities, but he realized how they sounded so much different than him and… he really liked to compare the highs and the lows—for someone who sings like he does, it wasn’t strange for him to like to listen to voices. He would even go so far as to know what note everyone ended up speaking in when they all spoke together. Music was a large part of the darkness of their sea. In Aquor, it wasn’t strange for people to sing, but not like the people of Atlantis. The people of Aquor didn’t do perky, memorized dance numbers, but rather, spontaneously danced when they saw someone they liked in however they felt to move. Music often filled the streets simply because someone felt like playing something. People in the deep were driven on impulse, unlike the people from Atlantis who tied themselves down with ‘rules’ or you became in trouble with their king. It was idiocy. You didn’t have to have these ‘rules’ to run a city. Zale’s father had rules nowhere near the same as King Triton. That was proven truer than ever when those stupid little Atlantian’s started to pop their little heads up in his business.
It was extremely annoying to think they would butt in on his business even though Triton’s own girl had gone and made a move on a human—and she failed! She turned into sea foam because of the ‘following the rules’—actually, the fact that she went behind her father’s back to accomplish what she wanted wasn’t even something hidden from the deep. At least Zale wasn’t making any shady deals. His father knew he was up here. His siblings and knew he was getting a human. Not behind anyone’s back at all. So why did they have to come and ruin the party?
”Well,” A smirk came to the blond’s pale lips. ”The boats already going down. They shouldn’t be able to notice if I save one. I just have to do it the right way.” He said to himself before he dove under water, his smooth tailed flipped up behind him and his large, brown tail fin snapped above the water before It went in after his body already had. The ship had a couple more moments before it would be broken to pieces, he knew members of the crew were to be thrown off at any minute, but that did not stop one of the members of Triton’s troops from coming up by him. The tail of the man was a solid green, scales obvious. ”What do you think you’re doing?!” The seaman demanded. ”What does it look like I’m doing?” Zale answered with a cocky, slightly irritated sound to his voice. ”Unlike you, I’m going home. I was having fun, but now since you’re here, I don’t see why I should stick around.” Zale said, his nose pulled to the air before his tail slithered through the water beneath his body and pushed him slightly. That was all that this merman needed to grab him by the arm. ”We’d heard the rumors that a good-for-nothing lighter was surfacing most nights and causing problems. Little did we actually think it would be from good blood that tainted our names.” The man retorted with distaste and anger. ”Not my fault. I heard from Gugal that the two-legged creatures were the ones that spoke of us singing to kill them. They imagined us into existence. I just decide to play with the legend.” He replied with that same upper class pout in his voice. It was obviously getting to the guard that kept him up like this because out of the corner of his emerald sapphire colored eyes he could see the merman grinding his teeth. Zale had to do everything within his own power to keep a grin from coming to his face. Things were going just on schedule now. ”You’re not going anywhere. If you plan to emerge from the deep, then you better learn how to act. Get over there and help clean up the mess. The merman pushed the smaller merboy towards the whirlpool, but he stopped. ”Paska. You know, if you leave them alone, they’ll drown on their own. I don’t think they need you’re help." ” Sulje, siistiaasi. We’re not letting them drown. Now GO!” The man finally snapped and with a roll of his eyes, Zale turned around and headed into the whirlpool. ’Go help them he says…’ He muttered out as if displeased but… moments after, he chuckled to himself. All went according to plan. Now he just had to pick one and… that one would be his, even if he took it to shore, that one would be his. He was gonna take it to shore anyways. He knew they couldn’t last underwater. The two-legged creatures, that is.
Zaye’s eyes scanned the moving water as he came closer and started to feel it’s pull. He started to move closer to the surface. There was the one he wanted! All the way—it was heading down! Pahus! He needed to move quickly! Just as Zale started off in the direction, his pet was picked up by one of the Atlantian’s that had ‘come to their rescue’. Why the hell did they have to come anyways? It was the two-legged creatures that took Triton’s favorite daughter away, right? So why did he still care enough to help them? ”What are you doing?” The merman from before called irritably. ”That one! That one right there! He’s going in! Get him now!” The man ordered with clear authority in his voice.
There was no other choice, that one with the dark hair and the covering on his face… that would have to do. ”Sulje!” He called back as his large tail fin smacked through the liquid and sent him bolting towards the swirling pool. His slim, pale arms reached out for the body just as it was coming down and he caught him. After the body was in his arms, Spike closed his arms around it and worked harder so his tail would move him fast enough, putting more and more effort and strength into the swimming motion to pull himself out of the pool. He’d never done it with two people and it was a heckova lot harder than he thought it was going to be. The Atlantian watching almost moved in to help, not that Zaye would accept it. It was his pet, he would prove to take care of it. He was too proud anyways.
As soon as he got out of the whirl-winded area, he quickly made his way up to surface with the knowledge that the two-legged creature had probably been under water for too long—as he seemed to say nothing after he had reached him. Nothing past the pleas for life that he heard prior to his submerging. On the surface, the fish slipped the man out from in front of him and smoothly slid him around back before he pulled the sailors arms over his shoulder and held onto them in front of his chest as he swam towards the nearest shore. He knew that Atlantian would be on his back, so he couldn’t take his pet to some kind of island, so he’d just have to do something… somehow… to make him come back. Maybe… if he was lucky, he could captivate him with a song of mystery and make him want to come back and back and… Pahus. Ranta. The shore was right there. It wasn’t near civilization, but sure enough if this person traveled, he would run away… Maybe that wouldn’t be such a bad thing. This dark hair… Zaye wasn’t so sure he wanted this two-legged creature. He much more would have preferred the other one he saw….
Upon reaching the smooth beach, he had to slow down to pull himself up the sand so he could lay the man on a spot where he wouldn’t get washed back out, should he not wake up before the tide rolled in, that was a just in case measure. ”He wasn’t under that long.” Zale mused out lout while he slowly started to roll the man off of his back and into the warm sand. After he was placed, the blond-haired mermaid turned to face him and slowly reached out his webbed finger to brush the wet locks of hair out of the man’s face. ”You know…” He started off slowly, a grin gradually started to grow onto his face into something very small. ”You’re not so bad close up. I approve.” His voice became lighter and just a bit more excited. He had succeeded with step one! His pet was his! ”I think I’ll call you Finn!” He exclaimed with pure bliss. His smile widened just a bit more before the back side of his hand went to run over the cheek of the man.
Bing, bing, bing! Idea! Zale pushed himself so he sat and brought his hand to his right and slowly slipped off the orange, frizzy looking ring that was deep sea coral from nearly 6000 feet in the sea. A piece had broke off the creature one day and—no. Zale didn’t break it off himself… but he picked it up and twisted it around his wrist and now he would give it to this person. Maybe it would peak his interest—maybe he should have brought gold from a sunken ship instead. Maybe next time.
Oh! You know what he was gonna do? This was his pet! He would just wait until he was awake! ”Zale! You are a genius!” He exclaimed proudly to himself. Yes. Yes he really was—at least he thought he was until he heard the sound of the water breaking and the annoying voice of that damn Atlantian. It was like he was a personal school-sitter. ”Prince Zale, let’s go. King Triton has prepared—“ ”A fisher and a messenger for me, right? I don’t wanna go.” Zale interrupted with a bored, childish tone in his voice before he laid his hands down flat beside this person’s shoulders and lowered himself down a bit. He had no choice. This was how they marked what was theirs, right? Zale had seen his sisters do it all the time, so he placed his lips to the skin on the man’s neck and started to suck on it, just a little less than gently for he knew he needed to hurry—and he didn’t have much control over himself.. If he were to leave now. There was no telling if Finn would come back or not. ”Yeah—no. You’re going. Now.” The merman from Atlanta started to worry. He quickly made his way to the shore and up to Zale before he first yanked hard at the large fin of the tail which both struck Zale with surprise and hurt like a conch snapped him. ”Gah!” He sanpped in pain. ”Fine! I’m coming.” Zale said with some irritation as moved himself away and started to slide himself further and further into the water. ”Oh you were a fire caught in the storm. Memories like embers keep us warm. Will you leave me in the morning? Will you leave me? The light had slipped through the window. The morning ripped you away, ohh. Don’t wake me up, I am still dreaming of stories undone. Unravel at the seams. Don’t wake me up, death is misleading and when I fall asleep, sleep with a---“ ”Knock it off.” The Atlantian interrupted what was Zale’s last attempt to somewhere stick into that man’s head. If Finny wasn’t here when he came back, if he couldn’t find him, then he’d have to start ALL OVER. A grin pulled up on the younger one’s lips. ”Why? You falling for my voice now too?” He teased with a chuckle as they made their way to deeper water where they could actually submerge. ”Not in the least. It’s just obnoxious.” He replied with blandness. Zale’s jaw dropped. ”You should learn to hide your jealousy better.” The young prince suggested before the two of them had taken their moments and turned themselves to go underwater. Zale’s tail went up after the other’s and high into the air above water to give him a good stroke as he went down under to follow the man. Now was that long travel back home with the additional ‘nagging’…. He’d be back to surface in a few hours at most. ’Remember; it was one crazy night.’ He chuckled with the thought of that mark on the neck that he left.

Hours passed and 'Finn' was still unconscious at the shore. What brought the man back to life was salt water crashing up against his body. "W-who saved me?"Raymond asked sitting up on the beach. His clothing was tattered, and soaked through and through, but he was grateful he was alive. 'Oh you were a fire caught in the storm. Memories like embers keep us warm. Will you leave me in the morning?' He remembered some of Zale's lyrics, even though he was unconscious, he still could hear that unmistakeable voice. The battered pirate captain stood up, and looked around. He had no idea where he was, what to do or even if anyone was going to come by and bring him back to his town. Might as well take a look around.... Raymond thought as he started his way down the west side of the beach.
Will you leave me? The light had slipped through the window....Raymond sang to himself. The song was catchy, and fun to sing. When the captain turned his head to look at the ocean, he felt a crick in his neck. He went to rub it, when Raymond felt the mark Zale had made. What on Earth....He started to ask himself. The captain then rushed over to a small pool of water, and looked into it. He saw a black and blue mark on his neck in the shape of a bite.Who did that!He exclaimed standing up quickly. Now he was worried that someone might have done more than just give him a mark on his neck, also taht must mean someone else has to be here.
Hours passed, and it was high noon. Raymond managed to find himself some fish to eat as well as fruit from the trees. He still wore the ragged clothing, but he removed the unnecessary things such as his jacket, and shoes. The Captain was sitting under a near by tree eatting some fruit. It looked like an apple, but it was colored differently. He knew that it was okay to eat since he saw some animals eat it before he ate it himself. The Captain was at peace with himself about loosing his crew, and his best friend Speedy, now the only concern was how to get back to the town, find himself a new ship, and crew.
After a few minutes, he sighed and stood up. Raymond started walking again, but not to look for anyone, just because there was nothing much he could do. The blue sky and bright down beat down on the Captain. The man plopped himself on the sand, and he looked around. "I'm going to die here!!He exclaimed leaning back, and now laying on the sand. Lost, forgotten, the pirate captain would have been better off dying the the whirlpool, now instead of dying a watery death, he'll dye on this island where no one knows he exists.

The swim back was just as painfully long and annoying as Zale had anticipated it was. The blond-haired merboy was stuck with an Atlantian he knew well because—let’s face it, not many Atlantian’s can actually deal with how cold the deep actually was. Merrick here, was someone who moved up from the deep somewhere. You could tell because his fin was brightly colored like Zale’s was, but it wasn’t the same color. He had more of a blue-purple color and the end tale of his wasn’t as big as Zale’s was. His fin size was something nice that he inherited from his mother’s genes—or at least, it was good where he came from, but places like Atlanta and all of those upper level cities people thought big-fins were flashy or tacky or—you know, it wasn’t something a mermaid could control! It just depended on the species of their parents! Apparently Merrick had been able to get along with them so well that he decided he wanted to live in the shiny soap cities instead of the deep. He was always the one that was sent with Zale when Triton needed to talk to the merboy’s father—partially because Merrick had some authority over Zale seeing as how the two of them had known each other since Zale was an egg.
As always, he wasn’t in trouble with his father for what he was doing, but he was in trouble for upsetting the Atlantian’s. This being said, he wasn’t punished greatly and soon enough he was released. That’s when the bragging started because his siblings started to question and wonder. ”I got one. he said. ”I’m going to resurface and find him in a while, after Merrick and the Atlantian’s settle down.” He said proudly and with excitement of his own. They probably didn’t believe him, but they had to have realized that he no longer had that bracelet of his that he made when he was still with schools of fish.
Hours passed by while Merrick monitored Zaye as he went about his daily business. It was far from the Atlantian’s did. All of their structure, their rules. Zaye had his studies due to his royal blood, which he did and did with boredom. He couldn’t wait until his watcher was gone—and those hours later, the fishman finally left to head back for Atlantis. Spike waited a good amount of time before he left what he left the palace, finally. He had been inside of it far too long for his own good. His fin waved in the water quick and with determination. He was anxious like a fish for food or a two-legged creature when chased by a shark! He wanted to get up there sooner to make sure Fin was still there and with all this time that was waste—he could so easily be gone by now!
It took the blond more time than he would have liked to get to the surface and then even more time to find the shore that he had placed the pirate on. He couldn’t get close to the islands as he checked them for the man which, to Zaye’s disappointment , he didn’t find. ”Barnacles!” He complained in disappointment as his pale white hands smacked the top of the water, his frustration came out clearly in the blow. ”He’s not here…” He added—as if it really needed to be stated. How depressing was this. He even bragged about it and now he was gone. Now he was gonna have to start over and—”I’m going to die here!!!” Zale’s fin-like ears twitched along the side of his head. Was tbat—was that Fin?! Quickly Zale dove back under water and headed in the direction he heard the voice from. He couldn’t say whether it was Fin or not—seeing as how he had never heard the man’s voice before and you can never guess what a voice would sound like when you look at someone. Some people were just… so out there. He swam around the water around the beach, his head popped up here and there until in the distance he spotted the body on the beach that from this place, looked like a blob. A large smile pulled up on the mermaid’s lips and his teeth came out and bit his bottom lip.
The boy started to swim over, closer to shore, but stopped short of the shallow waters that wouldn’t cover him anymore, not from shyness or worry, as was obvious with the end of his large brown fin sticking out of the water behind him while his flat white arms sat out in front of him, straight and holding him up. ”Why are you gonna die?” He asked with a laugh. ”You’re not in the whirlpool. Why are you gonna die now?” He asked with a quite pleased look on his face. He was still here! His Finny-Fin-Fin! His responsibility. "What made you stay? I mean--I knew it would work, but what made you stay?" He asked with excitement and anticipation.

Raymond looked around to see who was talking to him. Then when he looked at the shore, the Captain gasped. "You!You stranded me here!"He was actually more pissed that Zale left him here. After a moment, the man sighed and faced the odd fish-man. "So what are you?A fish-man or what?"He asked coming closer to Zale. This might have been the thing that saved me....'Raymond than thought as he stopped a few feet in front of Zale the Merman. "I'm greatful that you saved me, but you couldn't pick anywhere else? And the only reason I stayed here, is because I have no idea where I am, and I might be rescused by some passing ship or boat." The captian stated getting back to Zale's orginial questions.
The man then sat down, he stopped caring if he got wet or not, and sighed deeply. "I'm also going to take a wild guess and say that you also made my ship and crew get sucked into that whirpool. He stated a little irritatedly. If Zale was the guy, and he indeed was, then Raymond might have some nice fresh fish-man for dinner over the next few days. He wasn't going to forgive Zale for what he did to his ship and his men on the ship, no way.
Raymond eyed the fish again, and shook his head as if to second guess himself. 'Nah.....he looks to much like a man to have such a nice voice....' He then though placing his hand on his chin and rubbing the nonexisitent beard on his face.

Zale’s smile widened at first when he was noticed. He was noticed! Hehe!! This was a brand new experience for him and he couldn’t wait to see what kinds of memories and tricks he could make with his Finny, but when he heard the anger in his voice, the merman wasn’t sure of whether he should be anger back or worried or scared. His eyebrows pressed together and his expression dropped with confusion. ”Stranded you here?” The male asked with a very light tone of voice. He couldn’t understand why the pirate would say that. This wasn’t an abandoned island. The Atlantian made sure of that—if Zale had his choice of places, he would have put the man on an abandoned place so he was sure to be there when he came back. ”You’re not that smart, are you?” The prince didn’t bother to stop himself from commenting. ”It’s just my luck to get s stupid one.” The merman said to himself with frustration as his arms crossed over his chest and his lips pursed out a bit. They always spoke about how smart humans were and yet… yet look at this! He gets the one in a million that’s incredibly stupid. Couldn’t even find his way back to civilization, however far that was away—though the boy shouldn’t have been complaining. It meant his pet was still here and it also meant that he could teach it to depend on him! Hehee! He wondered how much he could teach it.
”I thought it’d be obvious.” He flickered his eyes a couple of times. The long lashes opened and closed over his gem-like eyes. ”I’m a mermaid! The kind your people make stories about! Like Ariel—only better.” He just thought he would mention. At least this person should have heard of Ariel. The girl was famous in the seas—and she was living with a prince for a few days. Geh, he didn’t know how the land stories went—but he was sure that two-legged creatures talked about mermaids because… mermaids totally talked about two-legged creatures—and pirates had mermaids on the fronts of their boats! Which was rude, by the way! Rude, ugly, and mean!
That seemed so fitting for this person though. He was so mean! He knew he would have preferred that one that the stupid Atlantian took! But nooooo~ They had to come and rescue the stinking two-leggers…. They never came before…
A small pout came to his lips. Why did he have to sound so mean? He could be sociable. He was alive, wasn’t he? Besides, Zaye wasn’t an ugly type of mermaid anyways. The man could at least get lost in his eyes or his hair or daydream or something! Not complain and bitch. Blaah. If he wanted that, he could have gone to Atlantis. ”Yeah… but it’s not like any of them died.” Zale easily admitted and he only spoke of it that much because he figured the pirate would ignore him if he just ignored it and let him wonder about whether his mates were dead or not. Seemed to be a common thing among two-legged creatures. ”So.. you wanna play something? Now that that’s out of the way—c’mon! We should do something!” He enthused again. So apparently the trick he learned from his sister didn’t work. Fine. He would never do it again. It wasn’t worth having his delicate, sensitive tail yanked on by that shark from Atlantis.
With those words said, the merboy pushed his webbed fingers against the send and then his body moved back while his tail became the closet part of his body to the sailor as he started to move on back towards the sea, but with himself faced towards the pirate with a large grin on his face. ”You can swim, right?” he asked with a slightly teasing tone in his voice as his cool hues looked playfully onto the land dweller with hope that he would come into the water and play and not be a guppy.

Raymond was just going to ignore the merman's comments about his men, and this island. He didn't really want to hurt this creature since he might get into trouble. The man let out a deep sigh, and nodded his head."Yeah I can swim. Why?" He didn't understand why Zale was asking him such an odd question. He caught fish on this island, as well as swim back to his ship after a raid on a sinking ship one time. "And what could we possibly do?You have fins, and breath underwater. I have legs, and can't breath underwater." the ex-captain stated as stood up and walked closer to Zale despite the fact that this thing was talking to him.
When he was only a few inches from Zale, he looked down at him, and stated. "See the problem. So unless you have some way of getting us both at an even level, then I won't be able to see you unless you keep yourself like this" He used his pointer finger, and moved it in a line like motion to prove his point even further. Raymond was wasting his time with this mer-creature. He just wanted to find a town here, and see if he can get back home.

Zale’s smile widened even more to the confirmation. He would have assumed that two leggers could swim. He’d seen it before. It was how they became shark bait. Hahaha~! Damn. Why didn’t the sharks get in trouble for eating people? It simply wasn’t fair that he was punished for having his own little fun just because it wasn’t like ‘Atlantians’ and because he wasn’t ‘a shark’ and putting them too ‘good use’. It was fun! That’s all the use that somebody needed! ”Well, if you can swiiimm.. you can come join me!” The male mermaid said with quite the pleased sound in his voice. He couldn’t possibly become depressed or saddened with the thought of swimming with his Finny Fin. He was a little drawn aback when asked how it would do anything because of little differences that sure, Zale never thought about, but he also didn’t think that it was a problem when he heard it. ”Just because you’re swimming doesn’t mean you have to breathe underwater, right? Or will you drown with your head above surface?” He chuckled a little bit darkly to himself.
He had studied two-leggers enough to know their limitations. He knew that they wouldn’t be able to last, just like Atlantians, down where he came from. It was just too cold and the pressure was… agonizing to say the least, for those who didn’t grow up in it. Their heads would probably explode! Underwater! That would be so… interesting!
Spike watched his pet closely as the man came closer and closer to the spot where he was laying in the water. ”I realize this. I have plans to come to surface and play with you every day. I’m here now, aren’t I?” He smiled proudly at the thought of it. Someday he might just try and bring his siblings up here to see his Finny—but only after he had taught it some awesome tricks of some kind. Suddenly a dark thought came to his face though. He had just told him that town wasn’t too far. If Zale left… if Zale left there was no doubt that Finny would leave him. As if it were impulse, the mermaid reached his hands out and closed his web fingers around the ankles of his pirate. Within the next moment, he pulled at the man to make him go off balance, in theory, and pull him into the water. Zale was going to move him now—move him to a place if he could, where he wouldn’t disappear into town, into a place that he would never, ever, ever see him again!
You’d think, for people who talked about merpeople all the time and thought they were just myths, and had them on the front of their boats, that they’d be more appreciative once they met one! They wouldn’t be so quick and happy to run away… two-leggers should be more thankful and less nonchalant when it came to things like this. If they were, then… Spike wouldn’t feel the need to be this drastic. This… he wanted to monopolize him. So bad. He wanted him… to sit there and wait for him to return just like Zale would if he were in the position. But he wasn’t so he couldn’t. He didn’t have to legs, but he would if he could! ”Don’t run away! If you leave—then I’ll have to crash another boat! I’m not going to let you run away!” The prince threw a small temper tantrum towards the ungrateful pirate as he pulled him further into the water by his legs wishing to go further and further until the man wouldn’t be able to go back to shore without his help.
So he would be stuck.

When Zale started to pull Raymond more into the ocean, it took him by surprise. "H-hey!"The man exclaimed falling back first into the water. "I am not going to run away! And who do you think I am!You're pet?! The ex-captain added on trying to get the merman off of his feet. Raymond was wet and tired, and wanted to spend what little coins he had left on new clothing for himself. He did not want to spend his time getting more wet, and with this odd fish-creature who not only ruined his life, but is treating him like some animal or pet.
Raymond never enjoyed being treated like something lowly, if anything Raymond should be treating Zale like an animal, he is half fish after all. The man growled and shook his legs free of the merman's hands. "I have no idea who in the world are you! And don't treat me like some pet of yours! He exclaimed angrily.
A group of fishermen heard Raymond screaming at Zale, and decided to investigate what was going on. Raymond looked to his left and saw figures coming towards him. He then looked at Zale and said in a hushed voice. "Look I promise I'll come back tonight okay. I don't want you ending up like the wooden statue on my ship. Even though Zale costed him his ship and crew, Raymond did not have it in him to watch Zale caught or even seen. He most likely had the idea that someone who saw Zale would go hunting for him, and his people, who ever those people might be.

The fish boy uttered a chuckle and couldn’t help but do so as the man yelped as he fell on his bottom into the water. Zale had never experienced such a thing for the place in which he lived was not owned by the same thing the surface was. Where he lived, he could go anywhere. High, low, as long as you could withstand the cold and the pressure. Was that what kept the two-leggers out of the sky? Was the higher they went the same as the lower? Two-leggers, unlike birds, couldn’t handle the pressure above them? Heh. That was a funny thought—so two-leggers were like Atlantian’s of the surface! The male fish could not help but laugh again with amusement at the protests of the pirate as they were exactly the opposite of what he had in his head. As Zale saw it, he was the master of the two-legger for he saved him. He was a prince, good flounder and as a prince he got whatever he wanted! Land or sea!
Spike was caught off guard when the soaking wet man actually pulled out of his grip—however he shouldn’t have been considering he was a wet, slippery creature, much like fish. Even his human-like parts, the webs between his fingers were scaled, were… no different than the matching parts of his tail, so it actually should have been a surprise he held on this long. The unsatisfied prince pushed his teeth together with frustration. ”You keep saying that; but you are my pet! I sang last night because I wanted a two-legger for a pet! I saved you last night! You are mine.” The fish claimed just before he turned his nose away and put it in the air—not that it was much higher since he was low, sunken in the water up to about his shoulder blades once he resurfaced from when he slid back because of the lost grip on the pirate. The pirate had no right to be annoyed. Spike did all the work here. He swam all the way up here two, three times just for this. He saved him from the whirlpool, granted, this wasn’t the one he wanted… but… he would do. ”You’re cuter when you’re not saying stupid things like that.” He said with an obvious pout in his voice. His arms crossed over his pale, nearly glowing chest.
He hadn’t noticed at all the sound of talking men coming their way and thus he didn’t make any kind of move at first. It actually took the pouting Zaye another second after his pirate pet started to whisper at him before he looked over and his facial expression softened a little with confusion. His eyebrows pushed together with the same bit of confusion before it all brightened up, as if he were a puppy about to be given a biscuit. Or rather, a shark about to bite a leg. ”Really? You’ll really come back?” His smile grew, however, he felt himself become an idiot for a second. What if this was a trick? Then he’d have to get away with crashing another ship and saving more pirates… But he said he wasn’t going to run away. So… what was it that Fin wanted him to do? ”I could never be like the wooden things on your ships.” The mermaid stated with a grin on his face. He lifted up his snow white, webbed hands and placed each of them over where his nipples were. ”I don’t wear shells.” He stated playfully with a smile upon his lips. It was only then did he see more two-leggers behind his pirate, and they were approaching rather quickly. His hands dropped into the water and his fin started to move underneath the water to push him back a bit from the shore. ”Friends of yours?” He asked as his baby blue eyes returned to the male with curiosity and confusion once more. He had never seen two leggers interact—and with Finny, this was his own first personal interaction with one. If he could talk with more… Haha! They’d be so jealous of him down in Aquor! King of land and sea is what he'd be--if and when he became king.

Raymond nodded his head. Since Zale seemed to like him so much why not, plus he was not that obnoxious, he just irritated the man a bit. "Yeah yeah... He stated back tracking away from the merman. "But you can be turned into something at a freakshow. The ex-captain said looking over at the coming fishermen. "Now get going. Before you get yourself into trouble. That was the last thing he told Zale before he turned his back to him and ran towards the men.
The men saw Raymond coming out of the water. They placed their stuff down, and rushed over to him. "What happened to ya?The taller fisherman asked giving Raymond a once over. "Yeah. All we heard was ya screamin' and came runnin' over to see who it was. Raymond chuckled and scratched the back of his head. "Yeah.... was all he could say, since if he told them about Zale that might either one make him look insane; or two might put Zale and his people in danger.
The men nodded their heads, and the shorter one stated smiling. "Ya look like ya need some clothing. Come back to our town, and we'll be sure to set ya up with some. Raymond nodded his head and followed the two men away from the beach. Before they disappeared from view completely, Raymond looked back one more time at Zale.

Zale listened, but didn’t really. He didn’t know what the pirate meant. ‘Freak show’. What was that? If anyone was strange, it was surely the ones with two legs. The ones that stood on the land. Well… birds were pretty strange too. So why would he be there? Zale didn’t see himself as anything strange. He saw himself how he always did. So when he was told to scram for the very reason that he was strange, he just moved back a bit. His nose fell underneath the water as he swam backwards. His gem colored eyes kept strongly on Finny’s back as the man walked away before they shifted to those which approached the man. ”Some freak show… He murmured underwater. The way he spoke underwater was so much different than two-leggers. Mermaids were could be comprehended, but that was possibly because it was spoken differently. It was spoken not with lungs, but with gills.
Spike kept going and kept going. With his fish-like ears he could not pick up the sound of what those on shore spoke about, but the male’s mind seemed to wonder about what they were talking about as he spoke to himself off in the distance. ”Who were you talking to my friend?” Zale adjusted his voice to be a raspier than normal when he spoke as the larger man who approached. ”Yeaaah. You some kind of clownfish?” He made the little one say in a high pitch voice. ”Well, no. Actually, I am now pet to some fabulously attractive mermaid prince from Aquor.” He changed his voice to be more dignified, more... awesome, and slightly deep. “Aquor?!” “Yes. You see? He’s right over—well, you can’t see him from here because I’m slightly embarrassed and you’re obviously not good enough for his presence.” “Ohhh. We understand. We could only dream of being graced with the prince of Aquor’s presence.” “Yes…. Dream of it. Cough.” The more Zaye went on the bigger his grin got at the compliments he made himself hear from the other side of the water. He didn’t know who was talking, but he could see the three—and now they were getting smaller and smaller. At first Spike thought it was his own eyes, but then he realized their backs were turned.
The merman started to slowly swim towards the shore at first. Leaving. They were leaving. His Finny was leaving! He knew he gave too much room just then! He knew he did! Just before the three disappeared from the view ahead of him, he sped up his swim as he called out. Damn it! NO! ”You promised!” He growled. Of course it didn’t strike the male that his pet had said ’he would come back.’ It was simply registered as, ’I’m not going to leave you.’. It was far too late by the time he hit the shore, and still, the mermaid tried desperately to go onto the shore. He crawled up the shallow end, pulled himself by his arms as he got further and further out of the water. But the less of him that touched the water, the less he could breath anymore. As he gasped for air, his fingers and webs grasped the muddy sand beneath him before he started to push himself back and wave his large tail fin desperately for force to pull him back into the water where he was once again able to breathe. After a couple moments, the pout returned to the blond mermaid’s face and those hands that once grasped the sand smacked the top of the water as a tear dropped down his face and as it dropped off, it turned into a pearl and fell into the sand. ”Buffer fish!” He snapped before he submerged only to head back home with irritation that filled his every gill. Someone was going to pay…

They reached the town, and Raymond sighed. He would have to visit that mer-creature, even though he would annoy him to no end. Raymond kept a promise though, and would keep it until the mer-creature died or lost interest. 'Hmmm...I wonder which one will happen first..... He thought to himself jokingly. He knew that Zale would not lose interest in him no matter what. They reached a tiny inn, and the taller fisherman looked at Raymond, and suddenly said. "We are me manners. Me name is James, and me friend here is Robert. The shorter fisherman smiled and inclined his head slightly. "My name is Raymond. Nice to meet you both. Robert opened the door to the inn, and looked at Raymond. "We'll set ya up with a room, and tomorrow we can talk about work for ya. Raymond entered the inn, and saw that even though it was not impressive in size, it had a lot of life and zest to it. James was about to say something, when a woman about the same age as James came up to him. She was an attractive strong looking woman. Her hair was tied up in a loose messy bun, and it seems as though she was not all too happy with James. "Uh....I-I can explain... He started but was soon cut off by her.
"I though ya went out fishin'. Not collectin' strangers off of the shore!" She exclaimed wagging a disapproving finger at him. James raised his hands, and looked at Raymond. "Me and Robert found him yellin' for some reason. We couldn't just leave him." Raymond sighed. "I'm sorry, Miss. My ship was wreaked, and all of my men died. That brought tears to the woman's eyes. "Uh! Ya poor thing! Follow me, and I'll get ya a room to stay in. Ya can stay there for as long as ya need." She then took Raymond by the hand, and started towards the steps. She then looked at the two fishermen and said in a low voice. "The two of ya better get somethin' good. The two men stiffened and hustled off the inn quickly.
Raymond looked at the woman and was little shock. She can put such fear into those two. "Me name is Sheila. And James is me husband, although he acts more like a child." Raymond chuckled, and smiled at Sheila. "My names Raymond. Sheila smiled back, and sighed. "I sorry about ya ship though. It's terrible to let that happen. But I have a hunch about who did it.Raymond already new the answer, but Sheila seemed like a nice person, and he did not want to seem rude. The woman then continued. "It was the mermaids. They always like to irritate us "two-leggers." She stated. Raymond nodded his head. "Do all of the people here believe in that? He asked.
Soon they stopped infront of a room. As Sheila unlocked it she nodded her head. "Of course! We live off of the stories of the old. She then pushed the door open, and let Raymond in. "Make ya self at home. I'll be up to bring ya some fresh clothing, and a hot meal. Raymond nodded his head, and Sheila closed the door. Raymond looked around, and sat on the bed. The man contently sighed. "Maybe I could ask Sheila for a tub, and some warm water... Raymond thought as he took off the rags that he wore.

”Whaa? You’re back early, Zale.” One of his older sisters said in a teasing voice as they watched the younger blond haired fish swim back into the palace with urgency. He was pissed—and that wasn’t really hard to tell. His tail moved with a slightly violent wave in it. The fish that he passed knew the difference between the prince’s usual playful swim and this one which basically told them to stay out of his way as the water pushed back almost like a stream due to the way his tail fanned the liquid behind him. ”Did you really get a two-legged pet? I wouldn’t think you’d come home so soon if you did.” She furthered tease with a smirk and a grin on her lips. Hehehee~ She knew he couldn’t do it. She knew he would pretend and eventually come back and make it obvious how he failed! Anyone could spend two hours on the surface—or at least she assumed. She wasn’t a frequenter of the surface. Her eyes didn’t like the ultraviolet light that was shone down on them by the giant ball of light in the sky. It was much different than anything they had down here below. ”You suck at lying, Zale~ You should at least just say you failed and just try again if you’re so determined.” The little clock in the merman’s head had been ticking, ticking, ticking away like a time bomb. It waited to go off until just then when he spun around. All the water around him shifted and nearly tossed the older girl aside before his baby blues glared at her. ”Shut up. I have a two-legger. He has an eye patch and was a pirate!” ”Oh crabs, a pirate~ You know how dangerous that is? Such a go getter.” Another one of his sisters popped up around them. She hardly believed that Zale would mess with a pirate. A pirate of all things to mess with!! He was hardly threatening—and as soon as he was caught in the net of a fisherman, he was toast. Davey Jones only knew what a pirate would do if he caught one of them. ”It’s True. I named him Finny. He just went to go eat so I came back.” ”Uh huh…” ”So when are you going back?” The older one with the dark brown hair questioned. Her tail was a pink-orange color with fins that were almost white. Her skin wasn’t as glowing pure white as Zale’s was, but pretty darn close to it. ”Later.” The two girls laughed. ”Told ya, pay up.” His brunette haired sister opened her mouth to speak, but easily was cut off by the prince when he spoke up out of lost patience. ”Shut up! You are both stupid! I have a pet pirate! I don’t care if you don’t believe me, but leave me alone about it and don’t make beats!” He growled at the two of them before his fin whipped behind him and he went swimming off away from the two of them with great speed behind him.
He didn’t feel like listening to things like that. He would resurface later and see if Finny was back. He said he would stay—or did he say that he would return? ”…He thought that they would turn me into a ship decoration—which means he has to be coming back.” The prince said in a pout as his swim slowly came to be slower. Finny was right. He couldn’t be on land, and Zale very well knew that two-leggers couldn’t last under the water. Wasn’t there a way that he could last above in the air? He swore there had to be. There was some person—like with Ariel—but he wouldn’t be so stupid as Triton’s daughter. If he went to the octopus he would be sure that he was not taken in by her unfair deals. He would make the rules clear on his terms and still they would be good enough on hers—but she was a final choice. ”But she could do it. She could make it so we are inseparable.” He thought about it. His reasons were so different than that stupid Atlantian’s. He wasn’t interested in everything above the water, to see what varied and changed. He was never interested in all those kinds of things, but then, the deep was rarely graced with such things so he really didn’t know what all came from above the water. ”You’re not considering doing something terribly idiotic, are you Spike?” A male with glowing green eyes questioned. This male had short spiked up-like hair and a long tail like an eel with spots in it every so often that glowed—like holes that led straight to his core. This male mermaid also did not have arms, but that wasn’t due to his birth, but something else entirely. ”Me? Something idiotic? Never~ How could you say that?” Zale questioned with a bit of annoyance in his voice. He knew that Sal was just playing, that’s how they did it, but it didn’t help when he was already pissed off. ”You were talking about Ursula just now, weren’t you?” The armless merman questioned as he followed behind the blond haired one. ”..Yeah—but you know those stories about Triton’s girl? I wouldn’t be like that. She couldn’t get the best of me. I’m too valuable. I’m—“ ”She was a princess.” Zale paused, ”I was going to say; from the deep. You see, even she of all creatures doesn’t come down this low. I’m sure there’s plenty of things I could trade with her AND I’d make sure she made it comfortable for me. No glass.” The eel-man pursed his lips and frowned. He didn’t like this. Not at all—and not only because Zale was his best friend, believe it or not.
”Zaye—“ ”See ya later, alligator.” The blond haired boy said playfully before he quickly swam off from the other. A cold chill ran down the eel-like one’s spine. ”Don’t even joke…” He said, his eyes closed as those types of thoughts filled his mind. The other was so carefree when it came to dangerous things like that… too carefree for his own good and he didn’t even know. Oh crabs! He was gone… ”Don’t go to Ursula, Spike… just.. don’t. Please.” He said to the open water before he closed his eyes and turned back around. That guy… That guy had actually headed back up towards the surface to go and wait for Finny—to give him ideas about his plan, to tell him that they wouldn’t have to be separated and he could be on the land—at least it’s what he was going to try and work out and when the prince of Aquor wanted something, he always got it. Always. Soon, even his pet would realize that.
Zale reached the surface and placed himself in some of the more shallow parts of the shore as he laid down on his stomach in the muddy water. ”Come back soon Finny… I’m bored…” He whined before he turned rolled over onto his back so he floated heads up in the water with the tide that started to move him back and forth, lulling him a bit.

Sheila came back with some new clothing for Raymond. They belonged to her son, but when he died from an illness, she could not bring herself to throw them out. The woman knocked on the door before opening it. "I brought ya some new clothin'. You look like you could use somethin' better than what ya had on." Raymond in the mean time was sitting on the bed with the sheet wrapped around his waist. He did not hear Sheila's comment, because he was looking outside of the window. The Inn was facing the beach, and since his room was on one of the higher floors he got a good look at where Robert and James found him. Sheila let out a nostalgic sigh, and that broke the captain out of his trance. "Oh!....I'm sorry. I didn't hear you come in. The young man stated rubbing the back of his neck, as well as chuckling nervously.
Sheila smiled, and entered the room. "Not a problem. I wasn't standin' there very long." She then handed him the clothing. "Here ya go. They may not be much, but tis better than what ya had on before. Raymond smiled, and took the clothing, he gave Sheila a warm smile. "It's not a problem. Thank you. Oh!And can you bring me a tub and some warm water? I really would like to get clean. Sheila nodded her head. "Sure thing, Raymond. I'll be right back. The woman then waved, and walked out of the room, closing the door behind her.
The captain sighed, and looked back out at the beach again. Even though the merman was obnoxious in everway shape and form, he missed him. The captain sighed again before leaning himself on the wall, closing his eyes.

On the beach, Robert and James were scouting the beach for a better fishing spot. Eventually they came across Zale in the water. However they did not notice that he was not a human, so they ran over worried that he might either be dead, or wounded. "Hey!Robert exclaimed dropping his fishing gear. "Can ya move!? He added on running over to Zale's still breathing body.
As he got closer he soon realized that Zale was not only okay, but that he was a mer-creature they have heard about. James! James! It's a mer-creature! A living mer-creature! James tossed his fishing gear into the water, and rushed over to his friends. "Why would you looked at that!" James exclaimed smiling, and pointing at Zale.

The little merman sighed as he looked up at the sun. He didn’t know how long it had been, but it felt like forever. It probably was forever. Did this pirate know that you were never to make a prince wait? Never meant never. Back in fishy land, if he made Zale wait well… Zale would be out and about and swimming high and low to find that no good pirate! But… Zale really couldn’t travel on the land, as he had found out earlier… He couldn’t breathe if he left the water which was… something he did not know earlier. Spike growled softly to himself which eventually got louder with his frustration until he flailed his arms once and smacked the water at his side with that same frustration. He didn’t want to sit here and wait! He wanted his Finny here right now! If his sisters were right—”No. They are not right. He’s gonna come back!” Zale snapped at himself in assurance. He knew he was going to come back—no… it didn’t even matter. He was going to go and see Ursula and he was going to become a two-legger, and then he was going to find his pirate and then—well… he’d wing it when the time came because he wasn’t entirely sure what he was going to do… when he found Finny.
He was sure his instincts would kick in and he would know what to do.
Hey!” Finny suddenly became alert and flopped underneath the water before he turned onto his side and pushed himself back above to the surface with a smile on his face. Was that Finny? Was Finny back? Finally! Yay! He had some ‘plaining to do though. Then the guy continued and even started towards where Zale was in the water. It was obviously not his Finny. ”He’s not cute enough…” Zale said as his arms crossed before his cheek filled with air and puffed out in a pout. That guy was standing him up. You don’t stand a prince up. That was another worldwide known never. ”Of course I’m mooooving. I’m just annoyed!” Zale replied like a bratty little child with a whine. Eh. He just wanted to be left alone unless his darn Finny was here.
But wait—weren’t these the guys that walked off with Finny earlier? He sort of recognized them. So maybe they knew where he was and could give him a message! Oh yes, Spike had completely forgotten whatever his pet had said about people before so the merman started to swim over. ”Hey, hey~! Did you see the pirate guy of mine?” Zale asked from a couple of feet away from the two on the shore that had been and were pointing at him, which was quite rude. He was a prince. He could understand the excitement, but the pointing was really a little… overboard… and slightly rude. Like he was some kind of shark. ”He had hair like this,” Zale brought his hands to his head and had his fingers sticking down as if to be the style of hair that Finny had last time he saw him which was of course, wet. ”And he only had one eye like this.” He added as he removed his hands then moved one to cover over his right eye. ”You took him away earlier, right?” Okay, now the prince was starting to get slightly impatient with that thought. Wasn’t it their fault that he left? Was it? No… he was hungry and wet and… what was easier to blame him leaving on?
Well… these things were his only lead to finding him.. so he’d have to find a way to put up with them, for now.

Robert and James watched Zale's improve of Raymond, and laughed. "Yes, we have. Do ya want us to him him?" James asked holding his sides from laughter. "I knew that Raymond was talkin' to something. We'll have him come over. Robert then stated calming down a bit. He then looked at James, and they nodded their heads before running away from Zale as fast as they can.
***
Raymond in the mean time was taking his bath. Sheila had brought up a tub, some warm water, and a towel and rag for the captain. Raymond pour the water into the tub, before sitting in it. "This feels very nice.... The man stated. He then took the rag and dunked it into the water. He then rung the piece of fabric over his head, and let the water wet his hair.
*****
Sheila was checking out a few of the guests when the fisherman bursted through the front door. "Sheila!Sheila!Where's Raymond!" Robert exclaimed. Sheila frowned and asked. "What lit a fire under ya behind? Can ya see I'm workin'?" Robert groaned, and moved behind the counter. "Something happened at the beach, and Raymond needs to see it!" Sheila sighed deeply. " The man is upstairs, takin' a bath. Knock on the door, and don't be rude. Either of ya. She looked at her husband, then at James.
Robert then hopped the counter, and him and James rushed up to Raymond's room. Once in front of Raymond's room, they pounded on the door and eventually broke it off its hinges. Raymond leaped out of the tub, and spilled the water everywhere. "What in the world is wrong with you! He exclaimed wrapping the towel around his waist. Robert and James stood up and James stated."Get dressed! This mer-thing is lookin' for ya!" Raymond groaned, and sighed. "I told him later tonight, but fine. I'll meet you two downstairs....." The fishermen nodded their heads and turned around to see a not so happy Sheila standing there. "Ya two are goin' to get this time..." She then pulled the two men by their arms out of the room. "Raymond. Go ahead with out them. And while ya gone I'll have them fix this door for ya." Raymond rubbed the back of his head nervously, and chuckled. "O-okay... Sheila smiled, and dragged James and Robert into her room. She was planning on giving the men a nice long chat.Raymond sighed, and started to get dressed. Once in his new clothing, Raymond walked down the stairs, and out of the Inn. Then he headed towards the beach.
He was on the beach within a ten minutes. He saw Zale, and said. "I told you I was coming back later tonight like when everyone was sleeping. Raymond stated sighing. The captain was not wearing his patch since he had taken off when he was bathing, and forgot to put it on. "So what is it?" The captain added standing over Zale. He had just taken a bath, and did not want to get these new clothes dirty.

Ah! Now this was more like it. Instantly Zale was quite happy with the services here. He didn’t know why Finny was being so mean about talking to the other two-leggers. Saying silly things. Just because they were from another land didn’t make him less of a prince or have any less authority. Ha. Now when they mentioned another name, it didn’t even register to Spike that it could possibly be Finny’s real name. Fin’s real name. It almost didn’t read that they were going to go and get his pet, but he thought they were going to go get someone else entirely. Like the leader of this land whom Zale did not want to meet. He wasn’t here for stupid politics. He just wanted to play with his two-legger and talk and… show those idiot sisters of his that his two-legger would come back. If he didn’t—if they brought him someone else, he was not going to be pleased at all.
Now after the two had left, Zale was stuck with these thoughts if they were really getting his two-legger, but those seemed to pass as soon as his patience was gone. It was just… wiped clean because no one was near and no one was… he was still stuck here sitting all alone in the water! What could be taking them so long? Did they know when royalty asks for something, you get it to them without wait? That’s how you do it below. Did they have a different rule here? Like.. make them wait, make them come—Che. This was ridiculous. As Zale laid in the water with his body floating above the ground, he let his body start to sink so his back fell completely against it and water washed over his face and his chest and his entire body.
There were suddenly feet in the water near where the blond’s head sat. His eyes peered up through the rigged surface of the water to see dark hair and a face of familiarity and not some kind of… something else! Yay! The teenage mer-boy ripped out his top half out of the water as quickly as he possibly could with excitement. ”You’re back!” He shouted with joy as he emerged and then wrapped his arms around the leg of the male. It was about then that he realized what he was doing and pulled his arms back before he crossed them and put his nose in the air quite proudly. ”Ha! I knew you’d come back.” He said as if to brag at those who were not present. Then he realized that his pet had been speaking to him. His gem-colored eyes flickered couple of times before he looked back at him. ”I was lonely and bored. I wanted to see you.” He said bluntly, maybe a bit like it should have been obvious. Well… to Zale, it really was. He wasn’t a loner, he liked company. Company of one or two usually more than many, but he would never turn down a party of sorts. It was just the type of person he was.
”You know, you are really strange about your other creatures. I don’t get why’d you’d want to hide me like I’m something strange. They don’t care. In fact; they did a really good job listening. Why did you only want to come back after—“ Beat. Zale just noticed. That annoying patch of black was gone, it didn’t intrude on the other male’s voice like it did earlier. Zale’s expression slowly lowered with surprise, but not of the bad kind, not at all. ”I like this you a lot better. It’s definitely nicer.” Eeehhh… This was so not cool. Zale wanted to be closer, but he couldn’t. He was stuck at knee height because there was no way to get up on his tail and the water was so shallow—so shallow… the only way he could reach would be if Finny came down to him or they went deeper into the water… how annoying… ”Why do you wear that thing? No, you should just not. Not ever again.” The smile started to come back onto his face the more he looked at the clear face of the other. It actually looked so much better—and he didn’t look like such an old person who would easily die like before.
Heh. Zale shouldn’t expect any less from someone who was his pet.

"Of course I'd be back. I promised, and you didn't like the patch? Wow, uh sure I guess, but people might find it odd that someone with a missing eye isn't wearing anything to protect it." He raised the left eyelid and Spike could see the missing eye. "It was gouged out a few years ago in one of the bloodiest battles my crew has seen. I had to replace almost everyone in my crew. In that fight I was one of the lucky ones."He sighed at the memory. He lost good men, and even women on that day. He didn't, and still doesn't believe that women on the ship brings bad luck. Some may say that it was the women who caused the battle to start, and why is eye's missing. Raymond's theory is that it was because they had stolen treasure from another ship, and the guy holding the blade did it out of torture. Raymond sat down in front of Spike, and said. "I'll come and vists you every night, since it'll look a little odd that I'm talking to a mer-creature."The e x-captain wasn't all too sure about what gender Spike was, so he didn't want to call him a mermaid, and have him be a boy. He crossed his legs in the sand, and looked at the merman. Why was this creature so attached to him? He tried to kill him, and his entire crew, for god's sake! Raymond shook his head, and sighed again. "So what'd you want to speak to me about?"Pray it be something important! The last thing Raymond wanted was this thing to have called him down, to mindlessly chat about nothing.
But what the hell, mindless chat with the creature who saved his life, might be interesting, so without letting Spike speak, which he might pay for later, Raymond went ahead and asked. "Since this is the first mer-creature I've ever seen, are you a boy?or girl?If your a boy, then I have to say you have some good vocals." Raymond would be a little shocked if he knew Spike was a boy, since the creature he heard singing sounded like a girl to him. Then again, he had heard only a hand full of legends that mermen have equally beautiful voices, as their mermaid counterparts.
