Ooc: Pff, don't worry about a long post. ^ ^ You can't have one that is too long.
--------- Tanja skidded to a sudden stop when she spotted the man that looked rather worst for wear. Kamil was quick to draw his gun out on the male, but Tanja's hand slapped the barrel to the floor, "Stop." She turned to him and in German explained that his voice, the accent was that of Russian. Kamil requested to know how she could detected the accent, "My father, he speaks Russian." She told him. Her eyes returned to the frightened man, but it was to late already there was the sound of shots being fired and screaming. "Oh no!" Tanja shouted running to the ledge of the building, Rolf and Kamil fallowed her to see that Gorski had gotten him self noticed, so the German's knew they where there, "Damn!" She pulled the gun off her shoulder and kicked out the stand. While Rolf and Kamil begun shooting. While Tanja was loading her gun she turned to the man and gave him a soft smile, "Don't worry, everything will be fine." She told him turning and letting loose with her gun. |
((Trialis:: Omg, I loved your post! xDDD ))
Heidi nodded at Antoni and quickly followed up the stairs after the others. She did know what she was best capable of, but she wanted to make sure neither the hidden assault nor ground assault were lacking. She therefore decided that if need be, she could stealthy leave her position and join the front line. When Heidi reached the top, she noticed a sort of stand off between a Russian looking man and Tanja and the others. Tanja seemed to be merciful with the man, whilest the others wanted to shoot first and ask questions later. That was the point where Heidi's respect for Tanja grew. "Oh, no!" Heidi repeated after Tanja, by a split second. She positioned herself in the building where one of the others weren't and took aim, then began firing. She was quick at what she did, aim, fire, reload, repeat as necessary. She did make mistakes and miss, as she was a bit out of practice, but she more often than not hit her target. She told herself mentally she would need to start practicing again if she were to be useful. |
Tanja paused when she saw Heidi kneed down near the firing squad, she nodded and went back to reloading her gun. She looked to her left and saw Rolf, he was aiming and firing. His face emotionless, staring blankly at the sight of his gun. Quickly Tanja returned to firing her own gun, while bullets whizzed by, dust from the old buildings trailing after them.
Her thoughts were subconsciously on the man, hoping he was doing okay, she turned back about to look for him, but quickly snapped back when a chunk of stone hit her in the side of the head, and quickly she went on shooting. |
Ooc~ Heh, excellent then. Thanks Jessi x3
Sasha was expecting to be shot when the woman intercepted. However, she spoke to the man who had wanted to shoot him in what sounded like German. Not exactly comforting. He caught the word "Russische", and wondered why it was that that seemed to be a good thing. Wasn't the Third Reich at war in the east too? When shots started being fired, Sasha gulped and tried to figure out who had shot him, but everyone seemed to be looking as confused as he felt. Just to be sure, he looked down, but didn't seen holes in himself, or blood running. He felt his face, and sure enough, it was also as unharmed as it had been before the shots fired. His new companions seemed panicked about something, and were looking out towards where they had made a roadblock. Sasha wasn't sure whether to look or not look. Either way, it seemed like he was trapped. All of them in the building scattered to vantage points, but the woman who had stopped him from being shot paused to smile at him and tell him that everything would be fine. While he didn't want to contradict this woman carrying a big gun, he was decidedly not going to be fine. He backed away from any openings to the street, and sat down on the stairs, and held his ears with his hands, determined to wait the shooting out. It wasn't like he could be helpful. He shifted his seat slightly, and winced as he realized he was sitting on small bits of stone and brick. He looked down, and noticed that they were about the perfect size to knock out a rabbit with a slingshot. A slingshot! He scrambled to where he had left his belongings, and quickly ripped his ragged blanket into shreds, keeping low to the ground. Gathering the strips together, he tied a few of them together for strength, and then scrambled back to the rumble of the stairs. He picked one of the smoother bits out and put it in the sling. Gathering other smooth pieces, he put them in his jacket pocket for reloading, then inched his way down the stairs to where the gunners were. He peered out into the street, and saw German soldiers firing at them. He sunk back, and wondered if he'd gone crazy. Taking a deep breath, he straightened his back, and recalled his childhood hunting rabbits. With a smooth motion, he stood into a more open space, whipped his makeshift sling around his head and let it fly at one of the German soldiers. He ducked down, but not before he saw the soldier look dazed and rub his cheek, a pause long enough for him to be shot by someone on Sasha's side. At least he hoped they were on his side. "Xa! Yest' odin," he exclaimed to himself, Got one. Maybe he could be useful after all. If he was going to be shot, he might as well get shot fighting. He reloaded his sling, and tried again. |
Tanja's mouth fell a gap when she saw the males sudden courage to help them. She continued shooting, looking down at her feet she saw some more of the smooth stones, when her next round was empty she quickly picked up a few and crawled on over to him, "Sorry I do not know your name, but I want to say thank you." She told him. Dropping the stones next to him. Tanja was quick to return back to her gun and pulled out the next set of rounds. She her self was getting a bit low on guns.
She peeked out from the bottom of the window to see only five soldiers still standing the other's were all dead or laying on the ground dying. Tanja could feel pride as another two dropped thanks to the efforts of the group below. |
Sasha was feeling exhilarated. Maybe it was the adrenaline that surged through him with every bullet that whistled past him to lodge in the wall, or maybe it was the sense that he was finally fighting back against something. While his stones only distracted and dazed, he was still helping, and that counted for something.
Reaching into his pocket, he realized he'd run out of his second supply of rubble. Looking around him, he was surprised that the blonde woman who'd spoken to him when the shooting had started had crawled over to him and deposited a pile of smooth debris next to him, and thanked him for his help. How strange. I am thinking of myself, and she is thinking of everyone on her side, he thought to himself, and felt shame. When had he sunk to this level? Had he not been raised to think of the good of the many? Sasha rubbed his palms against his trousers, before standing and taking another shot. A shot to the arm, with a crack of bone. The soldier had one arm left, which wasn't enough to save him from someone else's bullet. A bullet whizzed past Sasha's ear as he dropped back down, and he reflected that there were only three German soldiers left. Would they surrender? Or would they keep fighting, hoping to take as many with them to hell as they could? Sasha supposed they were as desperate as the people he was helping to hold on to their lives. My city, Sasha reminded himself, not theirs. Still, there were three left, amongst the dead and dying. In the place of his earlier exhiliration, a numbness was setting in. He picked up one of his stones, and turned it over in the palm of his hand, noticing for the first time the small cuts from handling the rough debris bloodying his palm. Completely forgetting where he was, and ignoring the exchanges of gunfire and moans of the dying, he stared at the palm of his hand, fascinated. It didn't particularily strike him as being his hand, as more the hand of someone else. He, the middle-class educated, with bony hands as rough and bloodied as a child. This was not his. Ooc~ Sasha's going into a delayed reaction of shock, don't mind him xP |
[Sorry I haven't posted for a while. >< I've been sick and busy.]
The final three fell and Tanja begun to cheer giving a high five to Rolf. The others were quick to run down the stairs and find everyone. Slowly she walked up to the shocked Sasha. "Hey...I, what is your name?" She requested of him. |
(No worries. I hear 'ya on the sick part. Getting some form of cough-flu from kids I teach atm)
Sasha looked up in surprise, completely having forgotten where he was. He looked up to see the blond woman, and stood up to not appear discourteous. "Sasha," he said, wiping the blood off his hand before extending it, "Sasha Vatimov. I am happy to meet you and your friends." He paused, before she could introduce herself, and added, "I would like to help your friends more. I am tired of hiding." |
Tanja smiled, "You would have to ask Antoni about joining." She explained to him, "But don't worry he's down stairs so we can just go down and ask him." Tanja exclaimed smiling. Rolf had ran back up and tugged on her arm for her to come down. "Come," She offered a hand out to Sasha, "I'm Tanja by the way."
[Sorry. >< I'm always busy with games! xD] |
Sasha nodded, accepting that he would have to make his request of someone else that Tanja, and hoping he could convince himself on the short flight of stairs down. He shook Tanja's outstretched hand and shook it, giving her a small smile.
Picking up his belongings, he followed her down the stairs, clutching the bundle to his chest and trying to think of why he, an intellectual, would want to join a rebel group. He couldn't think of a good reason that he had not already said to Tanja, and supposed he'd just have to tell it to this "Antoni" character. As he descended the stairs, he could start to smell the blood of the dead soldiers, and hear the whimpers of the dying. He paused, steadying himself on the wall, and swallowed down the urge to throw up. He refused to be weak, he refused to be weak... He leaned heavily against the wall, and called down to Tanja, "Can we please show mercy to the soldiers? Their suffering is not necessary." |
Sasha's words caused the males of the group to all turn and give a slight glare, "Hold on," She said putting her hands up to the other guys. "Sasha, we need this stuff thought." She begun to explain. "Our head quarters is completely empty and if you've noticed, Rolf and I can't really be seen like this in public." She gestured to her uniform that was now covered in dust and rubble. "The most of us were of the nazi party, we found out what they were really doing and now we're trying to put a stop to it..." She looked back to see Antoni walking up.
"Who's this?" He asked. "This is Sasha, he helped us up top." She explained. "There were civilian clothes among the supplies," Antoni said, "Go find your new outfit." "Yes sir Antoni." |
(OOC Yay i'm posting!)
Rolf placed the old magazine in his drop pouch and place the new one in his MP40. The safety clicked in and he walked up beside Tanja. "Hey, keep your old uniform, If we every have to use it again..." His voice trailed off because they both knew what he was talking about. He walked up to the mass of bodies, he sighed a breath of relief as he noticed he didn't recognized any of the soldiers. He heard a faint muffled groan from behind a pile of rubble. He walked over to it and found a soldier. He was bleeding from the stomach and his leg had a large hole through it. "Schicken mir, zu mein Gott." (Send me, to my God). Rolf stared in agony as he looked at the boy. He was younger than him and thinner. He pulled the Mauser from his pocket and like he was in a trance he readied his aim and pulled the trigger. The hole through his head the bullet made made Rolf drop the gun. he staggered back and promptly vomited on the chips of concrete that passed for a street. The others stared at him. Rolf picked him self up grabbed his gun and walked past Kamil and sat on their road block. "Great now we really need the food." Kamil joked. The pit in Rolfs stomach didn't get any better. |
Tanja had nodded to Rolf and slowly made her way over to the pile of clothing on the cart. She picked out a white under skirt that was for a more dressy occasion and a white quarter sleeved jacket with hook and eye clasps. She also found a pair of ripped up black tights and black ankle high boots. Then black finger less gloves and goggles. Then something else caught her eyes, an old corset that was horribly ripped beyond the point of ever wearing again. So she took its ribbon that was threaded up the back.
Hearing the shoot she jumped and turned to Rolf and watched him with concern. She picked up an potato and walked up to him with it, "I heard that eating starchy foods after throwing up is supposed to help." She mentioned. Even thought she knew why Rolf had thrown up she still felt maybe it would be a good idea. He seemed still in shock so she simply placed it next to him and walked off and looked for her own food. She felt disappointed because she hadn't found anything that she was really enjoying. Just fruits like apples and oranges. The oranges she passed off to Gorski, but she kept the apples. Then a few rolls caught her eyes so she picked thoughts out. |
(( >< I'm so sorry it's been so long since I posted. Now was the first time I've been able to get on in awhile. I've been distracted by college. ))
After Heidi began firing, she went on auto-pilot. Killing was second nature to her, and her barin seemed to shut down. Who would have thought trying to save lives would lead her to taking so many. When the mission was complete, she pretty much followed Tanja around. She kept an eye on the new male, Sasha. It was interesting to have seen him so willing to help. She watched Tanja report to Antoni, still as though she was looking in on someone else's lives. She heard the shot and it snapped her out of her trance. Heidi looked to him instantly, and then saw Tanja offer him a potato. Heidi didn't want to bother Rolf, deciding it would be best he had time alone before she tried talking to him. While Tanja was gone, Heidi picked up a few food items that would satisfy her. A couple oranges, an apple, and a roll of bread. She also found a pear in there, and picked it up. She tucked the food into the pouch inside her apron on her uniform and looked to the civilian clothes. She too scavenged the pile and found a pair of pants, to relieve her of her nurse's skirt, and a long sleeve shirt that would keep her warmer than that. Heidi also found a pair of shoes that were a size and a half too big, but Heidi could walk in anyway. She carried the clothes, deciding to save them for when they were needed. It was best to take what you could when you could, because you didn't know when you would be able to get it again. |
Rolf stared at the raw potato. He picked it up and his stomach sank at the thought of food. But he took a bite of it anyways. He crunched it between his teeth. It tasted like a dirty flavorless apple. The hardest part about eating the potato was the skin He took his knife out of his pocket and began to skin it. He realized that his appetite had come back. and after he was finished skinning the thing he had forgot all about the hole in the mans head and the one bullet missing from his Mauser.
He took a bite of the potato again and looked at the truck. The girls where busy picking out clothes. He looked down at his brown coat with the stitching scars from the patches he had ripped off. He picked himself up and walked over to the truck. He looked through it and grabbed somethings that looked warm. Pants, sweater, a vest, and a large old brown coat. He slung the clothes over his shoulder and sat on the edge of the truck. |
Ooc~ Huzzah, everyone is returned!
Sasha was displeased by the reaction of the rebels to his suggestion to kill the wounded but not yet dead German soldiers. Why should they expect mercy if they did not show it to others? He knew better than to say anything more, the others had all give him dirty looks already. Their leader Antoni, was sizing him up as Tanja left, and Sasha forced himself to straighten his shoulders and meet his gaze levelly. "Sasha, is it? That's Russian, yes?" Sasha nodded, "Yes sir." "Then why aren't you in Russia?" Sasha smirked sardonically and said, "Because Stalin is afraid to lose his power, and I support Trotsky in exile." "Red Army then?" Antoni asked, clearly expecting some form of military training. "No, I was a journalist." Sasha said, and received the expected look of surprise. "I came to stay with my grandmother's family, but they died in the first bombings. I was a member of a communist group, and we agreed it would be better to go. I stayed, as I have no where to go." "So you have no home, no family, no country. Why fight?" "Why not? I have nothing left but myself. I am tired of hiding," Sasha replied with a shrug. "Well, we won't shoot you. You still need to prove yourself, however. Find yourself some decent clothes, you look terrible." Sasha nodded, "Thank you," before walking over to the direction of Tanja and two others. Tanja looked like she was holding clothes, while a man was holding a skinned potato. Food and clothing, Sasha thought to himself, paid for in blood. He shuddered, but covered the movement as a shiver. Nodding to those clustered around the wagons, he shuffled through the clothing until he found himself a plain collared shirt in good condition, and a warm pair of trousers. A black wool winter jacket was also in the pile, and Sasha debated with himself momentarily before picking it up. It was better to plan ahead to be warm in winter than to think of convenience of carrying and freeze. His shoes would need to be replaced soon, but there didn't seem to be a good pair of them in the pile. He then stuffed his pockets with as much fresh food as they could hold, and happily munched on an apple, eying his new companions. |
Tanja found a place to hide to change into her newly found outfit, feeling like it was exactly what she had always wanted to wear for her self. She smiled twisting about and standing in front of a mirror and admiring her self. She made her way back and saw the knife at Rolf's hip and walked up snatching it from him and pulling the ribbons that she found across the blade. The blazing red head gave him back the knife and quickly tied her hair back into short pig tails.
"Thanks," she said, Using the paused moment between speaking to pull the goggles up like a head band. "There." She smiled to Rolf, quickly spinning about her gun keeping her skirt down and in its place. This was her way of inquiring what he thought of the outfit. She didn't mind that he didn't respond, but gave him and thumbs up and trotted away. |
Heidi watched Rolf and smiled a little. He seemed a bit better, as though he had forgotten what had happened. At least, he was eating, and that was a pleasant site to see. He needed to keep his strength up if he were going to stay alive.
Heidi walked over to Gorski, "What do you think's going on with him?" she asked, making gesture with her eyes to the Russian. Gorski just laughed and shook his head, shrugging. Heidi had apparently intterupted Gorski's eating and wasn't getting an actual answer, so she decided to approach the man herself. She walked over, "Hello. I'm Heidi." she said with a small smile, "I didn't catch your name... or what you're doing here." she said, as politely as she could. She was suspicious though, him being Russian. Heidi really hadn't caught anything he had said yet, but the fact Tanja and Antoni hadn't shot him yet was a good sign. She held her smile as she asked, "Care to share?" |
Sasha was quite happy to be filling his stomach, when another woman walked over to him. How many women are there here? Sasha wondered to himself, also struck by the fact that neither Tanja nor this one seemed phased in the slightest by the gunfight they'd just been in. It was very strange to him.
The woman introduced herself as Heidi, but added a subtle barb of suspicion into her inquiry of him. Sasha forced himself to smile back, as if he hadn't detected it. "Oh, yes, of course!" Sasha said, rooted in his pocket and passed Heidi an apple. "My name is Sasha. I will help you and your friends to fight the Germans out of Poland." He then realized he had no idea if the group had a name. "Uhm, could you tell me if we have a name?" |
Heidi nodded, noticing the smile didn't seem one-hundred percent sincere, but still, she decided it would be nice if she weren't rude to him. She was polite, always. Besides, he hadn't proven himself an enemy yet, and as she already thought, if Antoni and Gorski hadn't blown him away yet...
"It's nice to meet you." she said, taking the apple absentmindedly. When she realized what she took she shook her head, smiling more sincerely now, "You keep this, I have my own rations." she held her hand out to him, holding the apple, "You never know when the next time you'll find food is. As I'm sure you already know..." She looked around momentarily, but returned quickly to the conversation, "Thank you, for your help. As for us, we're The Nobodies." she laughed a little, "after all, this seems to be nobody's war. Both sides are losing, with all this orderly chaos and severe destruction... and death..." she trailed of, almost getting lost in her own thoughts, "But I just recently joined, so I don't actually know the true reason behind the name. That was just my interpretation..." she smiled a little more. |
Tanja took a moment to look about the desolate city. She wasn't really walking more of dancing through the streets, being sure to peer around the corners and check that there where no enemies, even thought she had her gun she still wanted to be sure.
((P.S guess who just found out that her dad has two mousers! One is a british one from i think 1943. I don't know for sure though. ><)) |
Heidi saw Tanja walking about alone and knew that wasn't a good idea- even if she was armed. She didn't want to be rude and jsut disappear after her, but Sasha was here with the rest of the group... "If you would excuse me. I need to go follow Tanja; she should not be roaming alone." she told Sasha, backing up a step towards the direction Tanja was in, "I will talk to you later." she smiled and gave a single wave and ran after the other woman.
When she caught up she addressed her, "Do you often go off on your own without back up? It is a good way to get killed you know." Heidi said, a few steps away from her. |
