Isobel Ipsel
They marble stones of the Misu bridge lay beneath Isobel's feet as she leaned against the structured rail. A neat row of pebbles were stacked on top of the ledge, all lined up and waiting patiently to be tossed into the river below. Isobel picked up the closest stone and reeled her arm back. With a swift movement of her wrist, the pebble flew through the air, bouncing a few times on the water's surface before sinking down to it's watery grave.
This is where Isobel came when she needed thinking time. Today had been the fiftieth anniversary of her mother's death. Tears welled in the girl's eyes as she reminisced about the mother she would never see again. Today, Isobel wanted to mope, and there was nothing anyone could do to stop her. As she did every time this day rolled around, she felt alone and abandoned. Her teeth clamped down on her lip to fight back the sobs.
Heni Gumal
Panting hard, as she used up the small shallow breaths she was obtaining, Heni bolted toward the Misu river. As the bridge came into view, her sprint strengthened for that one final stretch, not stopping until the clack of sole against marble reached her ears. It seemed when she stopped all the exertion caught up to her. Doubling over with her arms around her chest, Heni fought to catch her breath. When she could breath she stood up and smiled her excited smile at Isobel who looked astounded that the girl was there.
She knew Isobel had asked to be alone today, just as she had every year, but Heni had some news she knew could not wait. IF it had not been so important, Heni would not have ran all the way here. Her grin grew wider and the she spoke. "He's back, Izzy," she announced excitedly. Her arms moved up and down in excitement, and it looked at as if she would fly away. She watched Isobel's confused expression. "Kyne has come home," she elaborated.
Isobel Ipsel
Isobel's face lit up at the mention of his name. Memories of summers long ago flooded her mind. Not even the anniversary of her mother's passing could suppress the joy she felt now. Her hand reached up and wiped away the tears from her bloodshot eyes. A smile tugged at her solemn face as she let the news sink in. He hass come home she thought happily. "Well, what are we waiting for?" she asked Heni rhetorically,"Let's go greet him!" She ran passed Heni back to the castle.

Kyne Alieda
Kyne had reported his news to the guards, after which, no one at the castle wished on his presence. He pleaded with the guards for a while to let him stay, although his demands to see the princess didn't stand long. After being accused of the king's murder? They thought not.
So it was outside of the castle courtyard's walls that he would wait. I will see her. He thought, kicking stray weeds away from his spot. She'll have to come back at some point. It was only a short while before he heard the quick, muffled sounds of feet on grass and the protesting snaps of twigs being trampled on.

Isobel Ipsel
Blood rushed to Isobel's face as she raced home, but she did not notice. Her mind was only able to focus itself on one thing: Kyne was home. He had come back to her after all these years, and she would not allow him to disappear with out again. Too long she had been without him, and she could stand it no longer. Her legs pleaded with her as she ran on, but she would not hear of it. She would not stop until she was in his arms again.
Misu's walls ascended on the horizon in front of Isobel as she drew closer. A figure stood outside the city's walls, and she knew it could only be one man. Her pace quickened and she could see him clearly now. Her arms outstretched for him, hoping to embrace him after all this time.
The last few feet seemed too long. With a slight push from the ground beneath her, Isobel leaped Kyne's arms. Stumbling a bit, she fell into him. Her eyes and hands searched him, studied him, making absolute certain this was the man she knew. When her eyes came to lock with his, she gazed helplessly into them. Her arms pulled him into a hug that she prayed would last forever.
She finally pulled away to look at his face again. "Where have you been?" she asked him as tears of joy pooled in her eyes. Her throat felt choked up. She thought he would never return, and yet here he was, in her arms just as he had been so long ago.
Heni Gumal
Knowing Isobel would not want to be bothered, Heni stepped passed the two and through the gate which led into the city. The streets bustled with commoners busying themselves with shopping and socializing. No one turned their head as she passed, as Heni knew they wouldn't. She was Hxen to these people, and was lucky Lance had been so kind to her father.
Loneliness overtook her, and Heni decided to search out Atah. Isobel would be busy for a while, and Heni wanted to interact with someone. She set off for the castle, hoping to find her friend there. She did a pretty good job maneuvering through the crowd. It would have been perfect, but there was that woman who bumped into her and dropped her groceries. Heni had to bend down and help the woman carry her things home, apologizing the whole time. Once finished, she was quick to get out of there without even waiting for a "Thank you."
The cobblestone thudded beneath her feet as she jogged up the steps into the castle. Her head turned every which way, in hopes that her friends was in sight. She was in luck. Atah stood in the open audience hall. Heni stepped through the iron wrought double doors into the hall. She waved her hands in the air and shouted,"Oy! Atah!"

Kyne Alieda
This was different than he had expected it to be. He had everything planned out; he would pull her into his arms and say something witty and romantic. He would be strong and confident...he was neither of these. Seeing her again brought a weakness to his knees, a squeeze to his heart, and a knot to his stomach. While he was familiar to this feeling, it had been far too long since he had felt it.
It was with this he said something very intelligent, "Uh..."

Isobel Ipsel
A giggled escaped Isobel's lips despite how hard she tried to fight it back. It soon erupted into a full blown laugh, and she was doubled over trying to catch her breath. Tears poured from her eyes as if she were crying. She did not stop until her throat felt as if it was on fire. A couple coughs spewed from her like a the last few puffs of smoke before a fire dies.
A peaceful, gentle smile drew up her lips and touched her eyes. "You never were very articulate," she laughed teasingly at Kyne despite how much it hurt to do so. With Kyne, Isobel felt a sort of lightness she had not felt since he left. Her eyes sparkled with a joy that could not be possibly be a facade.
Pointing toward the gate, she motioned for Kyne to come inside. "Why don't we discuss everything inside," she suggested. Honestly, her feet hurt from running as far as she did, and she wanted to rest. She saw the protest in his eyes, but spoke before he could say anything. "The guards will allow you in if I wish it. Otherwise they will answer to Uncle Junas," she told him.

"If that's where you want to be, then that's where we'll go." He scooped her into his arms and gave his best half smile, then walked toward the gates. He buried his face into her hair for a moment, then sneaked a kiss on her cheek. Her scent is what truly made this place home.
"So what's been occupying your time for the past years?"

Isobel Ipsel
Unsure of how to react with her feet off the ground, Isobel latched herself onto Kyne's shirt. She was a tad uncomfortable not being in control of where she went, but she trusted him. It made the whole experience a tad bit easier. Her arms clung tightly around Kyne's neck as he carried her off.
It took a moment for his question to sink in. She had to think about how to answer it, but was unsure no matter how she put it. Her chest heaved a sigh and she gazed into his eyes. "I have been waiting for your return. My life is uneventful without you," she told him. Blood flooded to her cheeks, but this time it wasn't from loss of breath.
Heni Gumal
Heni embraced Atah in a hug. She stepped back from her and smiled her I-know-something-you-don't smile. "Guess what, Atah?" she said said she jumped excitedly. Before Atah could reply, however, Heni answered her own question. "Kyne is back. He outside with Izzy right now,"she said.

"Hm." The emotion he was feeling now was not joy, but regret. Uneventful.....I caused her pain... He couldn't let her see this. Not when she was so happy; he would be happy too. "Uneventful? Aw, Izzy, I'm a little disappointed! You've always been so fun to be around. How could your life possibly have been that boring?" He chuckled.

Isobel Ipsel
Isobel saw how Kyne tried to hide his feelings, but she saw right through him. She reached her hand up and gently touched his face, turning it to face hers. "Do not feel bad. I missed you, true, but I have had fun. Atah and Heni have kept me company," she told him reassuringly. It hurt Isobel to watch anyone to be sad in front of her, especially when it was her own fault. She felt so guilty for upsetting him.
Wriggling free, Isobel leaped out of Kyne's arms. She grabbed his hand and tugged. "Why don't we go see them? Atah and Heni I mean," she suggested. She was sure Atah would be happy to see him again. Although she knew no one was as happy as she was. It had been far too long since she felt so overjoyed. Today was not a day to mourn as Isobel had planned.
Heni firmly planted her feet on the floor and refused to move. "Give them time. They will come to us," she told Atah.
Her attention wavered as she stood stubbornly rooted to her spot. Her head turned once or twice as she looked behind herself. "They'll come through that door any minute. I'm sure of it, "she said more to herself than Atah. Her arms swung freely at her sides as she tried not to think about Izzy or Kyne.
Finally, it got to her and Hein yanked on Atah's arm. "I can't wait any longer,"she said as she tugged her friend toward where she had left Isobel. She ran all the way back to the gate. As she turned a corner, she bumped into Isobel and they both tumbled to the ground. She rubbed the back of her head and smiled at Kyne from the ground. "Sorry about that," she apologized to Isobel.

Isobel Ipsel
Isobel let Kyne hold her in his arms. The fall had knocked the wind out of her for a moment. This caused her balance to be off, and she could hardly stand. It took a moment for her to catch her breath. "Heni!" she scolded the rambunctious girl,"be careful!" She rubbed her hand on her chest. No damage had been done, but she was still a bit unsettled.
Her gaze turned to Atah in shock. "Why didn't you tell me you stole that?" she asked the elf with surprise. Her eyes shone brightly her immediate disappointment. "I would have bought it for you if you had asked. I can afford it, "she told her friend with hurt in her voice. As always, virtuous Izzy was ashamed of her friend's dishonesty. The princess had never done anything that would count as 'breaking the rules.'
Heni Gumal
Heni pouted at Isobel's scolding. "I'm sorry, Izzy. Don't be mad," she pleaded. Her gaze turned to Kyne in hopes that he would talk sense into her. She hated it when someone was mad at her, especially her friends. Although, her playful nature usually got her a firm telling off from Isobel, and sometimes Junas. Her father ever scolded her from time to time.

Isobel Ipsel
Isobel welcome Kyne's touch as he brushed her hair from her face. She nodded at him, not really acknowledging what he had said. She had not meant to be harsh, but she was still a bit emotional from everything that had happened. Her heart felt overwhelmed with grief and joy, unable to decide which to feel. It was confusing and upsetting.
She apologized to Hein and then turned back to Atah. "It is not burden to help out a friend. I have more gold then I know what to do with. I like to buy you things. Please, do not think you are burdening me. Feel free to ask me for things,"she explained to her friend. Isobel was too good sometimes. She would buy her friends a small island of they asked.
Heni Gumal
Heni smiled and jumped excitedly. "Don't be sorry, Izzy. I forgive you," she told Isobel. Her peppy personality was coming out again. It was good to see Izzy not mourning this day or once. This day had been a sad day since before Heni was born, and she was glad it wasn't toady. A peppy, thrilled smile crossed her lips and leaped into her eyes.

She laughed nervously, "Sure at first it was just food and things that we needed...but after a while I started to wonder what it would be like to steal something else.. I got such a rush that I couldn't stop. I've cut down quite a bit since I've been living with you." She sighed again, more deeply this time. "Izzy, dear, you could give me all the fine jewelery in the world, and I would still not be able to help myself.

Isobel Ipsel
A heavy sigh of exasperation breathed itself from Isobel's chest. She hung her head, unable to find the words she needed to express what she felt. Her extreme disapproval of rule breaking and her love for her friend put her in a quite a dilemma. It was her duty to her kingdom to apprehend criminals and law breakers, but Atah was her friend.
Isobel's head swarmed with ways to deal with this situation. Finally, coming to a conclusion she spoke. "I better not catch you at it again, all right?" she told the elf firmly. Isobel was not ready to turn in her friend, but she was also not ready to allow such things to happen in front of her. She lifted her head up to look at her friend.
She turned around and grabbed Kyne by the hand. "Have you said hello to Uncle Junas, yet?" she asked. firmly grasping his hand in hers, Isobel dragged him along behind her. Junas was going to find out sooner or later that Kyne was her, and she preferred it would be from her he heard it. She could be quite convincing and persuasive when she had to be. Plus Junas would do anything for his niece. This included harboring a fugitive in his own home.
Heni Gumal
Heni followed happily behind Izzy and Kyne. She loved visiting the Regent in the throne room. It was so fancy and decorative. heni would crane her neck to the point of breaking to get a look at the ceiling. She loved the paintings and architecture. It was all finely crafted, and she could spend plenty of time staring at it.

His heart took a leap of apprehension at the thought of seeing the Regent. This was not the moment he wanted to be back inside the castle. Nevertheless, he followed Isobel with the strength of his faith in her. Junas had never been a man of cruelty, anyway.
When they reached the throne room, he and Atah knelt in front of the Regent.

The man chuckled, and wrinkles from years of smiles formed around his eyes. "You may stand. There is no need for such formalities. You should know that by now." He turned his attention directly to Kyne. "Kyne Alieda... these are not good times for you in Misu." Now his attention was for his niece. "Isobel, na wuyj, to what do I owe this pleasure?"

Isobel gave Junas a formal bow. "Emxpu, I wish for you to welcome Kyne with open arms. Announce to your people he is not to be harmed. Tell them he is an ally," she told the regent. She was never one to mince words. When Isobel had something to say, she said it. Now she wanted Kyne to be safe inside Misu's walls, and that is what she said.
Heni Gumal
Heni watched as Isobel spoke. She always was so authoritative when she spoke. Sometimes Heni wished she could talk like that. Although she knew no one would ever take her seriously. Her smile only faded for a moment. She was not one to dwell on the bad things.
