Myths and stories tell of many worlds; worlds of different creation, legends, and history. Creatures and tales untold. But one tells us of what hides those lands and worlds of each story apart from one another. What keeps the two from ever conjoining. Such misery behind those dark words placed upon the parchment, the tears that had possibly been shed, what it worked so hard to hide.

In this chapter of such a large tale, we discover the one of the most unfortunate upbringings of stories describing that of such separation. To know of ones existence, yet never given the ability of plausibility... A wall of glass divided between two of many kingdoms, a never ending barrier and pair who discover one another, yet they cannot ever touch or speak. In spite of the story, the two look for a way past the glass, and it only touches the depths of sadness hidden in that book, protected behind those words written with dreadful ink.

Another hot summer's day was in store for the half fox as he traversed through the desert's sand. He rubbed at his brows, keeping the perspiration from dripping into his eyes, his tail poofed out in a bitter manner. Nothing but sand, dust, and more mountains of sand... everywhere. He wished for something different, something new, something that if a grain of it flashed by his nose the poor kitsune wouldn't be thrown into a sneezing fit.

Sighing, the boy understood that was to be nothing more then an unrequited dream. He was in a bloody desert filled with dirt and heat. Stinking heat. His throat began to burn in protest to their surroundings as well, craving for his thirst to be quenched. His footsteps grew wary and tired, and his body began to slouch. If not desert, what was he looking for? What else had the boy ever known? His world of story was an Arabian Desert Wasteland, not some Walk in the Park Romance. Eyes His mind felt wrecked from the lack of rest and care, so hallucinations began to present themselves before his eyes.

Women, women with fans and wearing clothes that of Arabian Harem clothing gathered around him. The kitsune's tail began to wag a bit, and a smile cracked at his dry lips. He was hallucinating sure, but hell, anything was better than what he was witnessing only moments ago. Surely enough, even the desert began to fade from his vision. A bright glint catching the sun's rays was in the near distance, nearly blinding his eyes for a moment. Stepping forward to it, trying to focus he saw green behind it. Greenery, plants, flourishing life that not of a desert. The members of the harem vanished one by one as the half fox grew closer and closer to that shining green.

Within seconds, the kitsune slammed right into it, face first and winced as his face pressed against something shockingly cold for such a desert. What was this substance? It felt cold and hard, smooth and without flaws... Past it, no longer having difficulty with the bright rays, he saw a whole other world filled with life that he had never once in his life ever seen. Feeling his jaw slowly drop in the slightest, he watched a near river trickle with water and plants growing fruit with a bitterly angry and growling stomach. Both his hands pressed against the hard material, having never seen it before and slid down to a sitting position, completely awed. And to only add to the scenery, there was another woman nearby. With ears similar to his, and a tail like his, but somehow different. Like a cat's.

It was a cool summer day in the land of Ergonel. The land of Ergonel was very prosperous; filled with lush forests, cool springs, lakes of all sizes, and most importantly - berry bushes and fruit bearing trees, both of which happened to be a main part of the Ergonese culture.

Beneath such a fruit bearing tree, sat a young cat-girl the age of sixteen named Amelia Vathrite; eating a peach without a care in the world, her mind completely at peace as the luscious fruit melted upon her tongue. The calmness of the river, the serenity of the sun shining upon her, and the fact that she was completely alone in the countryside, caused Amelia to feel completely at ease, despite knowing that she was neglecting her duties in not harvesting the fruit as she was sent out to do.

To be fair, Amelia had begun her work; so far she had three baskets of raspberries, two of blueberries, and a bushel of apples already picked and set aside to bring back that evening. After the last bushel of apples, Amelia began to grow lazy in the bright warm sun, her cat genes taking over and convincing herself she had earned a nice, long break. The break including a cat-nap lasting a minimum of a few hours as well as a stomach full of fruit.

While Amelia was eating her peach, her ears began to twitch as something made noise behind her. She'd never heard such a strange sound before and therefore, due to her curiosity, turned around in the general direction of the noise. Instead of being frightened by the strange sliding sound, Amelia was intrigued and decided to investigate; her childish behavior coming into play as she peeked around the tree and saw, for the first time in her life, someone upon the other side of the glass. Eying him curiously, Amelia blushed and hid back behind the tree.

'What is he?
He's certainly not from Ergonel! I wonder what he's doing so near the border?
Could he hear me if I asked?
'

Deciding it was best to face him and ask instead of sit there wondering for eternity, Amelia straightened up, ran her fingers through her pin-straight shoulder-length auburn hair; brushing the dirt off of her sundress as she walked through the grass, her feet bare, towards the glass wall.

Looking at the boy curiously, Amelia sat down upon the grass; careful not to flash the boy as she sat. "Can you hear me?" Amelia called through the glass. However, on the other side of the glass, nothing could be heard; only her lips could be seen moving.

The kitsune arched an eyebrow, smiling as the neko seemed to cower away, ducking behind a tree. Almost appearing embarrassed that she had been seen. Please, like a tree could protect the girl if he wanted to see her closer up. But deciding not to do anything, he remained sitting there with his tail slowly weaving through the sand in a slow but constant wagging motion. As wind carrying large amounts of the dust around him began to blow the half fox coughed and his ears pressed back against his thick hair. Dust still tickled at his inner ear, unable to keep his sensitive ears safe from harm's way. His foot that had been resting on the ground began to twitch as the air began to calm, almost as if he wished to scratch his ear with a foot like any other or some dog. But resisting, he dusted off his ear with his fingers and dabbed at the inside with a cloth.

After what seemed finally, he noticed the girl decided to move from her hiding spot. His smile returned, but it was wider the closer she came. He looked her over, finding the half cat to be too beautiful to come from his own world. He himself had tanned skin and dark hair, his ears a mix of black and dark brown, ending with white tufts near the tips. The same pattern was on his tail, and her reflection shimmered in his onyx black eyes. His clothes held a deep crimson and maroon colors, not the usual coloration of her land. He smiled at her kindly, his hand poking against the still shockingly cold glass sitting before him, watching as she carefully sat. How cute of her, the kitsune sickly thought, but his expression did not seem to falter. As she attempted to speak, he only tilted his head and watched her mouth move. She couldn't be a mute, or was she? He doubted that, surely she'd have some sort of hand signaling communication if such were the dreadful case. He wondered if there was any dirt clogging his ears, but that wasn't the problem either.

For a moment, he took his eyes from hers and stared a ways down the glass. It seemed to trail on and on, either left or right, just like the desert. Letting out a soft groan, he looked back at the woman and put a finger against his lips, telling her to be quiet. To stop trying. There was no way they'd be able to hear one another. Digging through his pocket he pulled out a chalk like substance and between his rough hands it broke. Tossing a piece over, he sat back down and began writing in a language he hoped they both understood. "What is this? Where are you? Can you write? Can you read? Who are you?" He bombarded her with questions, writing in a fast and skilled manner before finally slowing down to a light fluster, letting his hand fall back into his lap and allowed her to catch up.

The young nekomusume giggled as she looked over the boy with her jade green eyes, finding that he was rather handsome and outlandish compared to the Ergonese. Reaching over to pick up the item he had thrown over to her, Amelia looked over the small stick, finding that it was a piece of chalk.

Turning back to face him, Amelia flashed him an 'Of course' smile, her small fang glinting in the sun as she nodded in response to his questions; her solid milky white tail curling around her bottom as her similarly colored ears settled back into their normal position, having perked up at the sound of the item falling to the ground near her.

Shifting the chalk to her right, Amelia shifted to sit upon her knees to better write upon the wall; her light blue sundress circling her in a small pool that accented her light skin tone.

"This is a glass wall that none may cross and none may break, or so I have heard. There is a legend in my village telling how it came to be, but it is too long to write out. Perhaps I could show you the storybook if you wish to know the tale," Amelia wrote quickly with a small laugh, "My name is Amelia Vathrite, and I am from a village called Niromeh in the land of Ergonel."

"Who are you? Where are you from? How old are you?" Amelia added after her introduction was written, deciding it was her turn to bombard the boy before her with questions, "Can you draw?"
