Oni took the pills she offered figuring more wouldn't hurt. After he had taken the pills he looked at her and said, ". . .brother. . " Then his eyes went wide and remembered. Rushing his words he said to Rain, "Your cat turned into a cat lady and she told me to tell you that you HAVE to remember your family. She said if you did that you would get better." He hoped he had remembered everything the cat lady had told him.

“My family…” She trailed off and glanced at the kitten asleep next to her. She now had vague memories of them…including a little brother who behaved a lot like Oni. She didn’t want to remember them though… she kept smelling smoke, hearing screams, and feeling pain …. Rain said nothing, however, simply shaking her head.

“I’ll try Oni…” She whispered, simply hugging him a moment. She smiled to herself and patted his shoulder, “What about your brother sweety?” She asked softly, trying not to let her worry come through. Had he perhaps figured it out? Even a little?

Talianda walked in, picking burrs out of his tail. He was mumbling to himself in his native language, and there were slight scratches on his arms. "Don't attack the prickly bushes with wind, they explode," he said, finally yanking one out.

Oni cuddled and said softly,"I don't know what happened to Xanic. I. . . I think he comes out to do the bad things." He went quiet for a moment. That statement broke his heart but he loved his brother so much. With a bit of fierce loyalty Oni said, "I trust him. No mater what. Maybe he just knows something I don't. . .maybe he is protecting me somehow."

Rain sighed, knowing now that she should tell him…as gently as possible. She held him close, rubbing his back as part of her clearly didn’t want to say it and it showed in her voice. “He is…. He talked to me. He probably does think he’s protecting you though… but I think he’s wrong…I think someone manipulated him….” She said softly, looking away. She wasn’t so sure he was innocent in why he was doing it, but it was possible and she didn’t dare try and shatter Oni’s hope….this would hurt him bad enough just to know he was right.

Talianda stopped dead in his tracks. "What? Xanic's doing what and why?" It made no sense. What did that word mean again... oh, yeah. "Who could have manipulated him?" He said a little slowly, making sure he said it right. "I though he was more stubborn than a rock."

Oni pulled away from her almost shouting, "No! No you'e wrong Rain! Xanic wouldn't ever hurt me without a good reason. Xanic wouldn't because he loves me! I'm his brother and I don't care what you say!" Oni curled up and began to cry and whimpered quietly, "He wouldn't hurt Oni. .. no he wouldn't."

I’m sure it is…doesn’t mean it’s a true one. Xanic could have been lied to by someone he trusts… Who would he trust enough to believe them if they said he had to hurt you to save you Oni?” Rain asked softly, taking him in a hug again and simply holding him. She had not expected him to accept it easily, and honestly she didn’t worry about that….she worried more about Xanic not allowing her to get her answers so find out the truth in time.

Oni let her take him back into an embrace and sniffled. He looked pleadingly up at her and said, "He wouldn't do it for no good reason Rain. I know Xanic and he wouldn't. There is only one person Xanic trusts and I trust him too. He wouldn't hurt Oni either." Oni was upset. How could Rain think such a thing! Xanic wasn't bad.

"Maybe someone tricked the person you trust?" Talianda asked. "It could have happened, if the person is per... persuasive enough."

I know he wouldn’t…” Rain suggested, though she wasn’t so sure it was true. She held to him, rubbing his arms. “But nobody knows everything and sometimes they can be tricked….Who’s the person Xanic trusts? He could have been tricked…” She was for once annoyed at his naïve nature but she didn’t show it. She had to get the answers…before Xanic caused them to die before she could heal them….She glanced at Tal, nodding in thanks for his helping but her eyes going quickly to Oni once more.

Oni looked at Tal when he spoke and said almost reverently, "Oh no. Nobody can trick him. He's too smart to get tricked. He wouldn't hurt Xanic or Oni he loves us! He is a really great person. I wish I was smart and amazing like him. I'm glad he is. ." Oni began to gag and couldn't finish speaking. His eyes glazed but no one came out, he simply went limp and fell to his side.

"Shaeka!" Talianda said, running over to Oni's side. "Wake! Oni!" He started ranting in his language again, something that sounded like a chant or memorized prayer.

Rain let out a gasp of uncertainty, reaching forward and catching him. She lifted him and sat him on the couch, looking over him close. “It sounds like a father figure….” Rain mused aloud, though still worried as she looked over him a moment. She held her hands at the ready, expecting an attack from Xanic soon though at the moment she just felt pure worry….

Like a robot Oni sat up rigid. His mouth gaped open but only made a sort of gurgle noise. Going limp again Oni came to and said, "Did I do bad things again. .. I can't remember all I know is I go away then come back. It isn't like with Xanic. . .I go nowhere. . .and it's dark."

"I... Nothing happened. Oni, you just went limp, sat up, and went limp again," Talianda said, very confused. "I don't understand, why is this this happening, and what is it?"

No Oni, you didn’t do anything bad….” Rain replied, tilting her head to the side. She looked worried but wasn’t sure. She wished Xanic would just come out and tell them the truth already, but no, he was too busy trying to hurt Oni and distrusting the people who wanted to protect them both……okay so she mainly wanted to [protect Oni but still.

She glanced at Tal and shrugged her shoulders helplessly. “I’d love to know but only Xanic knows and he’s too much of a stubborn ass to tell us…” She trailed off and shook her head, hugging Oni again a moment. “Im sorry I don’t mean that…..I’m just mad because I don’t know how to make this stop….” She said softly, not wanting to upset him.

Talianda's tail twitched, burrs still stuck in it. "I wish I knew anything that would help," he whispered. "I hate not knowing..."

He said quietly knowing they wouldn't like what he was going to say, "Maybe ww should just let him do what he wants to do. Maybe that will fix everything." He didn't like them talking bad about Xanic. He was Oni's brother and he just knew his brother was a good person.
