((Sorry I died! The hayride was this weekend and I forgot to tell you all ))
Ti had been sitting back and watching the group converse, wondering if he really had a place in it all. He nibbled on an Odango as he thought, smiling inwardly at the taste, 'It will only be a matter of time before wanderlust finds me again.' he sighed silently. He dipped his sushi in the soy sauce and almost dropped it. His hands were shaking quite a bit 'kuso....' He cursed himself, 'Wanderlust might not be what makes me leave.' He closed his eyes as he ate the sushi and sipped the delicate tea, welcoming its warmth. |
As Ti shook the shy Janu blushed but reached over to put her hand against his wrist even though it required she half stand. “Are… you okay” she asked softly, noting the shaking of his hand. She tried to suppress her feelings, unsure. What…what about touching him made her heart beat faster. What was wrong with her?
Monty didn't know anyone was there, so when Janu started talking to another person, she looked up. The sudden appearance (of just her ignorance) made her stumble backwards a little. "Oh- uh...hey, when did you get here?" She asked, still a bit shocked. You're so stupid... she thought to herself.
Ti jumped a bit as Janu reached out to touch him. 'she's so warm....' He shook his head of the impeding thoughts and smiled slightly at her. "I'm fine, it's nothing unusual for me." He then turned to the startled woman and looked her over as his eyes flashed gold. "Forgive me for startling you, I just have been silent. It's actually not uncommon for me to go unnoticed." He could smell that she was different and had a very unique sent, as well as blood. " I'm glad you are enjoying the food I've made, it's mostly simple things and from what you have told us, I can only guess you aren't quite used to a humble meal"
"Oh" Said Monty. "You made this?" She asked, wondering how a person could make something they couldn't even eat properly. She put her headless coin back in her pocket and awkwardly stood. Through her mind she was wondering whether it was ok to sit back down again...
“You sure?” Janu asked softly, her gaze flowing over him. So far everybody kept saying they were fine…even when they were everything but. It was beginning to bother her. It was her instinct to help, this little adopted family of hers, and for some reason Ti being upset bothered her even more. She’d never really so much as crushed on someone before, so she didn’t understand it now that she was crushing so strongly.
She then remembered he had jumped and blushed so deep one could see it. “I…sorry” she mumbled, releasing his hand with an embarrassing reluctance and putting her hand in her lap. Honestly she enjoyed the coolness of his skin, she was often just a little too warm so it felt nice. She then looked up at Monty and giggled, grinning softly, “Yeah, what can ya do? The man’s quiet. Now sit and eat with us okay?” |
Her prayers were answered. "Ok!" She said, trying not to be so cheery, even though she was most grateful. Sitting down, she turned to Janu. "I'm not the best at observing things, so some stuff takes me by surprise." She smiled apologetically at the boy. She didn't know his name, and she was a bit afraid to ask.
Ti sighed inwardly as Janu sat back down and invited the woman to eat. Then smiled as she looked the food over. "This is food from my homeland, Japan. The green wrapped rice and fish is called Sushi and the rice with the fish on top is called Nigiri ,they are staple national foods. The Soup is called Shiru O-Tama Hana, that would translate into Egg Flower Soup. The dumplings are called Odango, which literally would translate to dumpling." He explained. "I offered to cook and thought I might share a bit of my home foods, that's all."
Janu tried to sneak a glance at him out of the corner of her eye, her ear flickering as she listened to him. She’d been too nervous earlier to hear the names so was glad to hear what the food was. She looked at her hand a moment, absently thinking she wanted to touch his again but not having the heart to reach out and grab it. Her shyness was one of her greatest weaknesses after all. “Heh it’s good whatever its called though” she joked, even after she heard the names.
Arina had spaced out while eating, blushing as she came back into reality she looked around and saw everyone happy and content. It helped her relax a bit knowing all was well. She then looked towards the kitchen. "I guess I'll go get dessert.." she said quietly not knowing if anyone really noticed she stood up and wandered into the kitchen and looked through the cupboards for a special serving tray she wanted to use. Upon finding the cute silver tray she began to pile the little pastries on it and grabbed a small stack of dessert dishes before making her way back out silently passing them out.
[being lazy at catching up i only skimmed things, but, Little Miss: you can have more than one character, I don't mind, i just wont be doing that myself Dx i've hard enough keeping up with the one i have x3x]] |
Janu watched arina stand and half smiled at her, though she was still a little nervous. As she brought the dessert close the feline tilted back her head and sniffed the air contently. Mmmm it smelled so good. It took all she had not to jump up and grab some. “Thank you” she stated excitedly as Arina handed her one.
Arina smiled politely and nodded "no problem Janu" She stated as she finished passing them out and taking one for herself. She sat down again. She took a bite savoring the taste of it. "mmm... I surprised myself" She said smiling and slowly eating the dessert.
Monty looked down at the dessert dish. So this is what a turnover looked like. She almost expected it to be...well, turned over. It still looked good, and she wasn't entirely full, but she was going to wait until Janu had some first. Just in case.
Janu grinned, taking a large bite. Mmmm it was actually better then she expected it to be. Then again, she’d been so long without desert it was like tasting sugar and sweets for the first time in your life. Like that first bit of candy when your’e a kid. She smiled a moment, then looked up at Janu, whispering a soft “thank you” before continuing to devour the dessert.
Arina finished her pastry sitting back in her chair. "Ahh.." she let out, rubbing her belly a little. "I think I went and ate too much.." Arina admitted and gave a little laugh. "Oh well, it was definitally worth a little over eating." She continued as she stood and started collecting empty dishes.
Alright, Janu tried it first and liked it. Good sign. She nodded a thank you at Arina and took a bite out of the dessert. She couldn't exactly tell what the taste was, for it was almost everything at once. It was good though, and homemade, which made it better. Then remembering the conversation she had with Janu, she turned to Arina. "Um..." She started, feeling a bit silly and her cheeks turning bright red, "I was talking to Janu about how I didn't have a room yet..." She stuttered. She didn't know how to finish this for one main reason. She almost never had to ask for anything in her life. Even when she was in the city, she didn't have to be polite so she never did. So, she couldn't exactly complete the question without totally fainting.
Arina looked to Monty and blushed "Oh, I'm sorry, it must have slipped my mind. Silly me, we've got lots of rooms, just have to tell me weither or not you prefeer the light or not so i know which part of the building to put you in. Some have big windows, some small, some none, you know, with all the clientel being so... particular..." She started to jabber a little " But yeah, just tell me that and i'll find a key for you..." She went on.
Monty looked up in shock, she didn't even finish the question. This had to have been the most awkward conversation she had been put into. Her head couldn't compute her answer for a couple of second. "Oh, um, It doesn't matter I can cope with anything." She said, trying to calm both Arina and herself down.
Arina smiled and nodded. "Well, I'm sure you can cope, but isn't there something you'd prefeer, all the rooms are the same size and whatnot no matter where you go." Arina liked to jabber, and liked to make people comfortable. She only knew where the question was leading cause of course, this was an Inn, and she was the owner and all.
"Oh, no, It's perfectly fine. I can be put anywhere. I don't really prefer much." She said, it was the truth too. She didn't care much about anything anymore, as long as it suited basic needs.
Arina nodded and went to get a key "Well, then i'll put you in one that is neither too dark or too bright" She said smiling. "And if you change your mind later we will move you." She stated handing her the key the room number was on it.
The key was warm in Monty's palm. "Thank you." She said, glad that part of the conversation was over. Now, back to the other thing that was bothering her. "If you don't mind answering this," She said, the question seemingly important. "Why is a turnover dessert not...turned over?" She finished, making the importance not so important.
Janu sat silently listening to the two, smiling softly in contentment. So their family would grow again… and it made her feel good. She’d had a big family once and she loved the feeling big families had. Smiling she began to clean up some of the plates silently. She might as well be helpful.
Arina blinked thinking for a moment. "You know, that's a very good question." She said and laughed "Honestly, I have no idea, but if anything, maybe cause you turn the pastry over onto itself, to keep in the yummy filling. "She said shrugging her shoulders. "But really, I'm not all too sure of the real answer myself." she admitted.
Talianda pushed the door open, peering in to see if anyone was in the main room. When he smelled the food, and saw the tea still sitting on the table. He smiled, picking it and the note up and slipping the note into a pocket. "Arina? Janu?" he called, listening to them talk abnd noticing the new additions. "I brought something you might like... It's from my homelands," he said, walking up to where they were.
((I'll try to be more active, life is a little less hecktic again. But it'll probably still be sporadic. Darn, and I was going to have Talianda at least crushing on Janu, It would be amusing, because Sikasha generally don't mate outside their own species, so he'd be so confused...)) |
