((wanna catch me up? ))

(( not a lot happened. Only a few peeps came on in the past few days. There were a couple of convo's between two or three characters but nothing really important I think. ))

((hm.... so what can an Oni and Ti do? ))

(( Oni's just in bed so I can have him get up and walk around. Hito is really interesting in him since you bound him to yourself ))

(( I know ><; I didn't really think about that at first. Well, Ti did want to take Oni to Chinatown. ))

Oni slipped out of bed and got dressed. He was hungry and wondered what there was in the fridge. He hoped someone else was awake who would be willing to cook for him. He could heat things on the stove but he really couldn't cook to make things taste good. He plodded down stairs and looked around for signs of life.

Hito was lounging on a sofa that was tucked away from the main lounging area of the main room. He really did not want to be disturbed but also wanted to watch the others as they went about. He kept thinking about the purple haired boy and why Ti had bothered to save him. Perhaps the boy tasted unusual or was exceptionally scrumptious but that didn't seem like Ti to him. No there had to be another reason why he had bound the boy to him. He figured he should ask Ti but he much preferred another way. By drinking the boys blood he would not only get a taste of him but the blood should carry the boys memories as well. By doing this it would kill three birds with one stone. He would be able to find out the taste of the boy, get an answer to his question and get a meal. He would have to be careful though and do it when Ti was busy else where.

Ti came inside from an early-morning bout of training, he silently stepped through the gardens, the cold stones welcomed on his warmed skin. He wiped a bit of sweat from his brow as he came to the back door, silently pushing it open and slipping in. He opened the fridge and grabbed a bottle of water, quickly draining it as he plopped down at the small table. He leaned back and breathed deep, his stomach growling. "Yamato..." He muttered to it as he relaxed. 'I probably should eat......oh well.' He thought, his mind wandering as be stared at the ceiling.

Oni walked into the kitchen and saw Ti. He smiled and warmed inside feeling that same safe and protective feeling he always got when he was around the man. "Morning Ti. How are you doing? Did you sleep well? Oh yeah I'm gonna get something to eat, are you hungry too?" he rattled off always letting his mouth get the better of him when he was happy.

Ti looked over to Oni as he walked in and started to ramble. A smile spread on his face as he saw the happiness and the energy the boy had. "I should eat something.... What to you want?" He asked as he stood, a couple of cracks and pops sounding as his back straightened. He reached into his pocket and pulled out the crimson silk, quickly tying back his long hair.

Dlacha heard voices down on the main level and came thundering down the stairs in a blur of black. She didn't even glance to Hito before bolting into the kitchen and barking happily at Oni and Ti.

Oni replied happily saying, "Anything with meat in it is good or we could have something sweet too. I eat most things though so make sure you like it too k" He had wanted to call Ti dad but wasn't sure if he would like that. It might make the man feel odd and Oni had never really had a father before. Oni decided to get himself a big glass of juice to work on as breakfast would take some time. He let out a giggle as Dlacha came running in and started petting the large dog.

Ti smiled again as he rambled again and Dlacha came running in. He stood and thought for a moment before going to the pantry and grabbing an armful of ingredients. He got out a bowl and pan, filling the pan with oil before starting to make a batter. "I'm going to make frycakes. They are like pancakes, but puffier and not as sweet. They're good with everything from honey to sausage. Sound good?" He asked as he measured by eye and mixed.

Dlacha plopped down next to Oni, wagging her tail as he pet her. She watched as Ti started making food, cocking her head to the side occasionally as a noises reached her ears.

Oni listened as Ti described what frycakes were. He said excitedly, "Oh that sounds great. So you can put anything on it whether it's sweat or not and it still makes it taste good. Wow that's smart Ti. Now I can have some with meat and some with sweet topping. Can I help?" He was really interested in trying the frycakes and seeing what topping he could come up with to put on them.

Oni kept petting Dlacha feeling more at ease now that his nightmares were going away. Now the sounds of of screams and bites were fading Oni could only see the big furry thing as a playmate and friend.

Hito half wondered if he should bother them knowing it would be fun to poke fun at Ti and ruin the happy mood he was in. It irked him a bit that he was so bloody happy. He knew though that Ti was clever and might catch on to the fact that Hito was a little more than curious in the boy. He decided to stay put so he wouldn't ruin his own plans.

Ti nodded to Oni, "Why don't you pick out what to put on them?" He finished the batter then went to the stove, turning the knob to light the burner under the pan of Oil. He then grabbed another pan to heat up some rice and beef for Dlacha. He looked to the dog then stopped, looking out the door way to the main room. "What's the matter old man? Angry you can't eat human food again?" He poked at Hito, sensing the disgruntled man in the corner. He moved to check the oil as he watched Oni, wondering why the elder didn't mess with him yet.

"Okay Ti. I'll pick good stuff," he said as he went eagerly about his new chore. He pulled some sausage and bacon from the fridge placing on the counter next to the stove. He then got out some fruit, jam and whip cream. He then remembered Ti had said honey so he went and found that in the pantry. He then asked, "Ti is that good or did I miss something?"

Hito gave a mental huff at Ti's comment and said in reply, "You keep your silly human food. Blood tastes so much sweeter and you know it you 'dad'. You really should let me know when you take in strays. You keep getting softer and softer you know."

"That's good, Oni. Grab a pan to fry up the meat in, will you?" Ti said as he poured the first bit of batter into the oil. It floated and bubbled as it quickly cooked. "You were the one who always told me not to lose my human side, am I listening to your advice a bit too well now?" He said with a bit of mocking anger. He flipped the first cake before pouring the second and looked to Oni. "Saving one's life in stead if taking it isn't weakness, This boy was being torn apart by a monster within him. You know I can't turn my back on that." He said with pain replacing the anger. He thought of the other night, of how he let his demon get the better of him, how he wanted to hunt, maim and kill. He suppressed a shudder before focusing back on the food. "Hey Oni, since it seems like everyone is out or asleep still, after breakfast do you want to go to Chinatown? I said I'd take you a while ago but.... well things got busy, didn't they?" He said with a shrug.

"Oh of course Ti," he said beaming that Ti had asked him to do more. He liked helping, it make him feel like he had worth. He grabbed a pan and set it on the burner not being used. He looked at what was cooking and smiled eager to taste it.

Oni's eyes lite up when he mentioned an excursion to town and he said, "Oh yes that sounds like fun! I have money too so I can get things!" He was now torn between his excitement for the frycakes and going to Chinatown. "Yes things did get busy but it's okay. Besides we get to do it now right," he said with glee.

"There is nothing wrong with saving a life but to bind the boy to you is odd move for you. I'm proud you saved the boys life but does he really understand everything that comes with a binding? He seems so very innocent and you now are responsible for his life," he said in reply. Hito knew that he was having a difficult time between his humanity and the demon and said, "Being as disturbed as you have been of late have you considered what effect it may have on him? You know it is possible for you to reflect your thoughts and feeling along the tie that binds you. If you lose yourself you may take him down with you."

Ti gave a weak smile to Oni and took out the first cake. He put it on a plate, flipped the second and then poured the third. "I can't say I was thinking it through when I did it, but he was practically dead when I got to him. A binding was the only way unless I turned him, and like you said he's innocent, he would break if I turned him. He will learn in time what it means to be in a blood tie to me, and I am fully willing and capable of protecting him--even from myself." His voice sounded bitter at the end, and he regretted pushing his mentor."I know how to cut the link without him dying...." He looked to Oni again, the boy was tied to him, the only way this bond was able to be broken was by the death of the vampire who bonded the mortal, taking the life of both-- supposedly. " I can do it, but don't tell my father that. He'd want me back and abuse my powers more, you know that.... I know the price and I know what I have to do. I'm not young anymore."

Oni was practically dancing around as the cakes cooked and as soon as the first one was on a plate he asked, "Is it okay if I eat this one now?" He had never been good at patience when there was something he was excited about.

Hito gave a laugh out loud and said mentally, "Okay, if you say so boy. You don't have to worry about me telling your father. I prefer being able to torment you myself rather than have someone else do it." The last bit was a just a tease but he knew the kinds of things his father would do to him and he did not have the heart to let him go through such things. Lastly he sent out, "Now hush up, I'm trying to be all dark and mysterious over here and you making me laugh is ruining the image."

Oni's head turned when he heard a laugh from the front of the main area. He went and poked his head out noticing the man. He went back in the kitchen and scooted toward Ti. He didn't know the new man very well and even though he seemed to be a friend of Ti's Oni did not yet feel comfortable around the man.

"I suppose" He said, ruffling Oni's hair, "It'll get cold soon anyways." He placed the second one on the plate and flipping the third. "Oh, I'm sorry, Monsieur Doom-and-Gloom. People say I'm dark, now I can tell them where I get it from." He teased back. He was relieved that Hito didn't want to report to the head honcho, it made Ti feel a bit better about him being here. He watched Oni go and look at Hito before coming back and practically clinging to his side. He sighed and looked to the boy. "I know he's scary looking, I thought that too when I was your age. He really isn't bad though, his bark is much worse than his bite." He said, trying to comfort him. "Here, eat these two as I get the others cooked, ok?" He gestured to the plate before checking the ones in the pan.

Oni smiled at the affection and soaked it in. "Thank you Ti," he said and took his plate over to the kitchen island that doubled as a table. He said softly as began to put stuff on his frycake, "I trust you Ti so I'll try not to be scared. Um should I go say hi after I'm done eating?"

He put some jam on his frycake, then some berries, and finally topped it off with whip cream. As he took his first bit he realized Ti was right. It wasn't as sweet as pancakes but it was still really good. He said happily, "Wow you're good at cooking. This is really good."


Hito simply let out another bark of laughter and went back to listening to them. It was pleasant and refreshing how innocent the boy was. He was glad that it had been Tidus that had found the boy knowing that many with vampire blood took simple pleasure in destroying that which was innocent. Tidus had made the correct choice in bonding with the child but Hito would never tell him that.

Ti smiled at oni as he took out, flipped, and poured another cake. "Only if you want to, I can introduce you properly. He trained me since I was a kid, everything I learned came from him." He grabbed the honey and drizzled it on the fresh cake. "Well, almost everything. He can't cook to save his immortal butt." He said with a chuckle and took a bite. He leaned against the counter, slowly eating the hot pastry. He looked to Dlacha and she whined a bit, licking her muzzle and begging. He shook his head and set down the frycake, "I'm sorry girl, I'll heat up your food." He pulled out the container of beef and rice, putting some in the pan he grabbed earlier. He paused to take out, flip and pour again, then put the container back in the fridge. He turned the knob for the back burner, then took another bite of cake. "We can have lunch in China town, there are all kinds of shops and restaurants there. I think I might pick up ingredients too, Arina keeps mainly European food stuff here." He said thoughtfully, making a mental checklist.

Oni fidgeted a little but said, not wanting to be impolite, "That sounds good. So is he your teacher? That's neat. Dante's my teacher but I want to learn something new. Um Ti w-would you be willing to teach me how to fight? I feel bad that I can't take care of myself and I thought it might be good to learn." He hoped maybe Ti wouldn't be against the idea. Oni finished his first frycake and went to get another.

"Really! Oh that sounds fun. I'll get to try more new foods," he said excitedly at the idea of getting to try more new things.

Hito heard the jab at him and gave a mental huff but didn't bother saying anything more.

Ti was taken back a bit when Oni asked to be taught, but he could understand why. He thought about it for a moment, finishing his first frycake. "I can train you, but I warn you it won't be easy. It takes a lot of work and practice, we'd have to work on building up muscle and basic defense before I can teach you to actually fight." He looked to Oni and saw a bit of himself there, a thin boy who was thought to be weak, but with fire that can be an inferno with the right fuel. "I will help you, you need it. You need to prove you aren't a little boy who needs to be protected all the time." Ti said as he lowered his eyes, trying to shake a few memories before taking out and flipping the last two cakes.

Oni was ecstatic when Ti agreed to help him learn how to fight. He said very seriously, "I know it will be hard and take time but I really do want to learn. I promise I'll do what ever you tell me to and work really really hard." Oni felt so good inside at this moment. Not only did Ti agree to help him but saw potential in him as a person. He didn't feel like some useless little kid around Ti and it felt nice. He would make his dad proud of him.

He finished eating his second frycake that he had eaten with the various breakfast meats. So far it had been a great morning. Good hot meal and someone who saw worth in him. He could not be happier.

Ti felt the waves of happiness off Oni and couldn't help but smile, it was a good feeling to help this boy. He stirred Dlacha's food, then scooped it into a bowl, placing on the floor. She hopped up and devoured it messily, tail wagging. He chuckled at her, grabbing his second cake and topping it with meats. He ate it quickly and pulled the last cake out of the oil, turning off the stovetop to let the oil cool, then put the dishes in the sink. "We should head out soon if we want to get the good stuff at the market, It always goes fast." He said as he offered the fresh cake to Oni. "I can show you all the little shops and stalls, it's always so full of life. Even with the cold weather it's loud and colorful." He went over the list again in his head, planning all the things he wanted to make.
