Kairi Crest had awoken at dusk.. This was the perfect time to go on the hunt. She smiled to herself as she rose from her bed and got dressed. She tied her hair back into pigtails, to give her a more innocent look.. She looked into a dirty mirror and put on an innocent face.. 'Time to go.' she thought, sticking a knife into her boot. She found that knifes were more effective in killing vampires than wooden stakes.... She didn't know why either..

She stepped out of her house and into the darkening streets.... Off in the distance, she could see some of the stupid men the Elders trained. They were probably just going to get themselves killed. They didn't have the training that she did. She shrugged and headed off in the opposite direction of them. There was no way she was going to let them get in her way or try to stop her.. She couldn't deal with it right now......

Yes. I know what you're thinking.. A girl slaying vampires. Crazy, right? Well, not to her. She'd been training since the day she could walk by her father. Ever since her mother died from the Vampire Overloard himself, Kairi sworn that she'd avenge her mother's death by killing the Vampire Overload, and any vampire that got in her way... That's her only purpose in life so far. To avenge her mother.. her father died when she was 10, but she continued her training up until this point, where now Kairi was 18.

Daisuke perched on the corner of a rooftop and stared down at the city streets, he was hidden from the naked eye but any other vampire that looked his way could see him. He was on the hunt, it'd been three days since he'd drank and if he waited any longer his powers would weaken. His fangs extended from his mouth as the scent of a human filled his nose. The pale streetlights cast a glow to the figure of a young female. He watched her quietly, calculating in his head whether or not she'd be a good target. The nape of her neck tempted him to no end, stray strands of hair tracing her flesh in the pale light.

The scent of her blood was intoxicating but Daisuke held out and ignored it so he could study her a bit longer. He followed her along the rooftops and watched her thin frame closely. He was strangely intrigued by her. Her hips rocked as she strode around innocently. The wind shifted blowing his bangs in his face, he pushed them away and suddenly found her piercing eyes staring up at him. It was too dark for her to see him but never the less it still felt like she was looking right at him.

Kairi ran a hand through her hair as she looked around. She thought she sensed a vampire, but since they were demonic creatures, they were very hard to find. She glanced at the rooftops for a few seconds longer before turning her head back in the direction she was going. A small smile spread across her face as she was absolutely positive there was a vampire nearby.

This was excellent. Now all she had to do was wait for him to come out from wherever he was hiding. But how was the main question. Well... She could intentionally hurt herself. Bleeding was a good option, but she wasn't too big on the idea. That plan would have to be a last resort. She sighed quietly and started walking again. This was going to be harder than she thought.

Daisuke hopped from rooftop to rooftop, not missing a beat or making a sound. The girl looked innocent enough but Daisuke couldn't figure out why she was out so late. He had been seasoned by many years of experience and something didn't seem right, but she fascinated him to no end. He stopped for a moment and looked at her, she was pretty prey, the way her pigtails danced against her shoulders, that soft tender flesh that covered her blood vessels. She was really something to sink his teeth in.

Desire bubbled in his veins and his nails lengthened. He was tormenting himself just watching her, and if he didn't do something soon his barbaric side would, and it wouldn't be gentle. He bit his thumb to shake himself back to reality and continued to follow her. The air was thickening with her scent, so much that he could almost taste her. He glanced at her and had to shake away the thoughts of her warm blood sliding down his throat and into his empty stomach.

Kairi smirked slightly as she turned a corner. She closed her eyes for a brief second, trying to sense if the vampire was following her. Good. He was. That was just about the time the perfect idea hit her. She knew for a fact one of the only things vampires couldn't resist was the sound of a pounding heart.

She took a deep breath and let it out slowly. Then she took started jogging quickly down the street. To the normal human eye, it would just look like she was excercising. That would probably be what vampires would think too. Not that she would know. She ran for about 7 or 8 minutes before she started slowing down. She smiled to herself for a second before letting it drop as she slowly came to a stop. Her heart was pounding loudly in her head. Let's see if the vampire would come out now.

She started to run! What was this girl doing to him? He ran across the roofs, following her. The running was a cake-walk for him but when she slowed down he wanted to rip out his eyes. Sweat dripped down her skin, making her even more attractive to him. Her pulse point on her neck vibrated with her fast beating heart. He dug his nails into his palms and drew his own blood as he tried to hold restraint, his eyes changed to a bright red color and his pupils narrowed. His sight heightened even more and that's when he saw it. It was a shiny metal handle sticking from her boot. He knew what she was but he couldn't control his impulses anymore.

He launched himself into the air above her and gracefully dropped to the ground in front of her... or he would have had his shoe not caught on the edge. Instead he fell with out grace and landed on his knee the wrong way. He yelped in pain and staggered to get up before falling on his ass. Her scent was even stronger now and as his eyes met hers he knew this would be the end. He dropped his head and pinched his nose closed to block the scent, he rather die without a fight than let himself be engulfed by his demon within and slaughter the girl. He was a gentleman after all.

A smirk spread across her face as he landed in front of her. "Finally decide to come out?" she asked, trying to catch her breath. Running was one thing she didn't particularly enjoy. "Took you long enough." She ran a hand across her face to help cool her down, even just a little bit and took a step towards him.

A curious look crossed her face. Why was he on the ground? Weren't vampires supposed to be gracefully and invulnerable to pain? So why was he hurt? She shrugged it off and reached down to pull the knife out of her boot. "You gonna stand and fight? Or stay like that and die? Either way, it's fine by me."

As he heard her voice, he lifted his head, careful to hold his nose, his eyes were wide with blood-lust but instead he stumbled and got up. He took a limping step towards her to trick her and then leapt backwards away from her. He held his knee with one hand and his nose with the other, the pain was dissolving away but at a slow rate because of his empty stomach. He forced himself to stand up straight and he looked at her.

"Feisty are we? I don't normally like to fight with my food you know." It would've sounded more serious had he not been holding his nose. He looked at her for a moment and quickly turned his head. His lust was so strong that just looking at her was hard. Red light flashed before his eyes, and he knew he was pushing his limit. He sighed and stared hard at the ground. He had three options, fight, die, or run.

Kairi raised an eyebrow and took a step towards him. The pounding in her head finally faded away and she sighed softly in relief. "You gonna fight or not?" she asked, looking at him intently. "Cause it's no fun if you don't." She tilted her head slightly, full of curiosity.

Why was she trying to pick a fight. She could tell just by looking at him that he could kill her easily. She probably would've been dead by now if he hadn't hurt himself. And that was another thing that confused her. Did he trip? Or is he just putting on an act to get her to lower her guard. Well. He wasn't going to win against. She wouldn't allow it.

"Please don't make me fight you. As you can plainly see I'm not having a good night and fighting right now wouldn't be wise for the both of us." He looked at her and saw that she wasn't convinced. "Alright I'll show you." He let go of his nose. Her scent filled his nose and his body reacted. His fangs grew to their full length and his nails became longer and sharper, a heated wind of power wrapped around his body and his eyes glowed bright red.

"This is all just because I'm starving, and that little running stunt you pulled didn't help at all because you're messing with a vampire on an empty stomach!" He didn't want to hurt her so he clamped his fingers over his nose again and winced as he pulled himself under control. He's eyes stopped glowing after a minute and then rest of his body slowly changed back. "See? Now how about this, we both walk away peacefully and I'll fight you another night when I'm not about to lose control."

Kairi was silent as she thought this over. Yes. Seeing the fangs did shock her a bit, but she forced herself to remain calm. She nodded. "Yeah. I guess that sounds like a fair deal." she said quietly. She stared at him for a second longer before taking a few steps back. "But..... Never mind."

She was kinda skeptical about turning her back to him, but she didn't want to be near him anymore. The sight of him being in pain, even if it is kinda her fault, made her feel terrible. She turn around right when a cool breeze blew past them. A small shiver caught her by suprise and she really wished she brought a jacket with her. She started walking away, slipping the knife back into her boot.

He turned to leave but heard her shiver. He took off his coat and tossed it in front of her. "I know you won't openly accept a gift from a vampire, so I'm not giving that to you, take it as a hostage instead, so you know that some day we'll meet again, and I'll fight you then if that's what you truly want. Farewell for now." He smiled at her and then took off back to the rooftops. He ran for a few minutes before coming to at stop. He swore he could still smell her but he ignored it. He sniffed the air to find a new prey and sure enough he did.

There was a middle-aged man standing around in an alley. Easy pickings, Daisuke jumped down without flaw this time. He landed perfectly and stared the man in the face before moving quickly and knocking him out. His fangs extended again and he bit into the man's pulse point. He drank only enough to fill and then rubbed his saliva on the wound. The man began to wake and Daisuke didn't take anytime to disappear.

Kairi looked at the jacket and nodded once. She turned her gaze to look at him again, but he was already gone. 'You'd better fight me someday...' she thought as she slid her arms into the sleeves and feeling the warmth envelop her. A small smile formed as she turned and headed back to her house.

She opened the door and went in. She looked around the empty house and the feeling of loneliness surrounded her. "Mom....Dad.... I wish you were still here...." she muttered as she took the jacket off and tossed it onto a nearby chair. She sighed sadly and laid down on her bed and closed her eyes, sleep quickly taking her.

Night 2:

Daisuke rolled out of bed around sunset. He couldn't get the vampire off his mind and it was driving him crazy. He got dressed and grabbed his family's shield, he wouldn't need a weapon, his entire body was one. Daisuke left his apartment and locked the door behind him. He jumped up and grabbed the shingles to pull himself up on the roof. He sniffed the air, he wasn't really hungry but a promise was a promise, and though many vampires didn't keep their word he did.

Her scent was no where to be found and so he raced back to the spot he'd encounted her before. He sat quietly and watched the streets, waiting for her. He hoped she'd bring his coat because it'd belonged to his father. Even if he died he still wanted it back. He ran his nails through his hair and tried to find interest in something for the time being until she came out, but he had to face the fact that he was painfully bored.

Kairi looked in the mirror and decided to keep her hair down this time. Didn't want to give him something to pull.... "Alright. Let's get this over with." she said, picking up a bag of her vampire slaying weapons and headed towards the door. She paused and glanced at the jacket. It hasn't moved since she took if off. She grabbed it. Might as well take it back.

She left her house and glanced around outside. He was probably waiting on the street where he saw her last, so that would probably be her best bet on finding him. She took a deep breath and started running towards the spot, wanting to get this over with as soon as possible. She needed to be finding different demons to kill instead of focusing on this one.

After a few minutes her scent filled his nose and he turned to see her running his way. He jumped from the roof, this time careful not to trip. He landed in front of her and smirked. "You look pretty with your hair down, slayer. You did bring my jacket didn't you?" he asked. His bangs fell around his eyes, and he grinned at her, showing his fangs, his eyes were a honey color in the pale light. He looked at her, happy that he was there with a full stomach.

Kairi skidded to a stop in front of him. "I don't need complements." she said, taking slow breaths. "And yes. I did bring it." she added, holding the jacket out to him. Despite him being the enemy, she wouldn't feel right for taking it. After all, it was his. He was just letting her borrow it... Which was actually pretty nice, for a vampire.

He grabbed the jacket from her gently and put it on. He took a few steps back and looked at her. "So do you really want to fight me now?" He asked. He looked around and saw that the street was empty. "If you do, now would be a good time." Daisuke sighed and pulled his shield out from under his coat. He was as ready as he was going to be. Clouds gathered above and the scent of rain coming hit his nose. It'd be about another twenty minutes before it began.

"Now's good." She said, glancing up quickly towards the sky before dropping her gaze back to Daisuke. Her eyes narrowed at the sheild for a second, but she smiled anyway. She pulled out a small silver dagger from her bag and stood in an offensive position. "Bring it on."

"Ha ha, Ladies first." He held the sheild up and forced his nails of his free hand to extend. His hair danced around with the wind as his eyes darkened to a more orange color. He shifted one leg behind him and lowered his body so the his reflexes would be quick. He bent his other leg a little bit and watched her closely, waiting for her attack.

"If you insist." Kairi said, taking a deep breath to center herself. The wind blew, pushing the hair into her face and now made her really wish she pulled it back. She charged forward, blade in front of her, aiming to hit around the shield somehow. This would have to have perfect timing if she wanted to be able to actually kill him.

He held the sheild out and heard the metal clang. He felt the force of her blow shake through the shield. He pushed the shield forward and swept it to the side, leaving himself open for a mere second as he took his chance. He reached out towards her and attempted to grab her wrist that held the blade.

Kairi moved her hand away from him quickly, kicking the shield out of his grasp. yes. Pain shot through her leg, but she ignored it and she went to stab him again. She narrowed her eyes at him, determined to finish this off quickly, before it started to rain.

His shield fell to the concrete with a loud clank, but he ignored it, he was to distracted by her attack to try to get it. As she tried to stab him again he noticed her slight limp, he smirked as he grabbed her wrist and kicked her uninjured leg out from under her. He wrapped his other arm around her waist to keep her from falling and breathed in her ear, "Nice ass, slayer, wouldn't want you to fall on it." He chuckled.

Kairi glared at him. She used all her strength to try to stab him, but it was useless. There was absolutely no point in trying to fight a vampire strength. So instead, she tried pushing away from him. "Let go!" she exclaimed, an idea crossing her mind. She used her free hand to reach over and grab the blade from the trapped hand and stabbed at him with that.
