She felt more then saw the magical energy, Kari’s eyes lifting to him as she paused at the door to the kitchen. She stood, looking at Ai and the air as in her delusional state her magic actually focused and balanced a moment…not that she was there enough to realize it was. She leaned back onto the doorjam, tilting her head to the side as her eyes brightened with the fever. “Ai….Ai why does the air look funny….” She asked in her off state, shivering a little.

Ai's eyes widened and he quickly turned to where Kari stood, just outside of the trap's reach, "Kari, stay there. Don't come any closer please. It's not safe...at all." He didn't need this, there was a chance she wouldn't listen to him and he still hadn't figured out what the trap could do exactly.

“Ai……But I need a hug” She sighed and shook her head, sinking to sit cross-legged on the floor in the doorway. Kari frowned still a moment and wrapped one raven strand of hair around her finger, mumbling something about curly hair looking like snakes. She then suddenly stood up straighter and looked to Ai again, “Oh! It’s not safe…..that’s why the air looks funny.” She shivered slightly then, looking over the patters of designs she saw. “Lots of red… what a funny style x….does that mean x marks the spot?”

Ai's eyes widened again, "Brilliant, have I told you how smart you are love?" He closed his eyes, he now knew exactly what the trap was, having set a few of them before. "Now if I remember correctly the trigger should be about....there." Ai pointed and shot a spark of purple energy at the clock on the wall. Instead of hitting the clock though the energy hit a black hole that had appeared, effectively disarming the trap.

“No… but you should more often!….what I do” kari responded with a laugh, watching as the odd red symbols disappeared. She scratched her head, looking at the clock as his energy began to fade. Slowly she stood, leaning on the doorjam and crossing her arms in front of her. “Um……. Can I come in and cuddle now…. I can’t stop shivering… …why was there floating red designs in the air? ”

Tabitha smiled again and turned over and fell asleep. When she opened her eyes she was standing on the street again only this time it was dark and all of the houses were destroyed, she looked down at her hand and saw she was clinging to a little girls corpse. Tabitha screamed and sat up breathing heavily her eyes wide with fear.

Ai shook his head, turning off the stove. It was obvious Kari was a little delirious now, "Shouldn't your fever be going down already?" He walked over to her and picked up her hand, placing it over the cross design on his cheek.
Akuma was up almost instantly, "Tabitha...Tabitha what's wrong?" He didn't waste time asking if she was alright, she was shaking so obviously she wasn't alright. He took her gently into his arms, "Calm down...you're safe now..." |
Tabithas bottom lip quivered and she burst into tears, "its all my fault, all my fault" she choked out. "it doesnt matter if im safe, it matter if everyone else is" she moaned looking at him, her eyes wide.

Nuuu…….something important is happening……..but shhh I think it’s supposed to be a secret.” Kari responded with a giggle, feeling him touch her hand. She blinked, saying a soft hmm and watching him a moment. She left her hand on his cheek a moment before taking her hand free and wrapping her arms around to hug him. It was odd…her fever was staying at a steady pace… but was not going up either. It had paused in motion…her body and energy having essentially chosen to shut down her mind via it. ((hehe Yus you get to baby sit a slightly crazed but safe Kari.......unless you count the whole can hurt herself thing and that exposing her to alot of heat would be bad thing)) |
Akuma bit his lip but didn't press Tabitha for an explanation, choosing to just hold her against himself, to keep her away from the rest of the world for a little while longer.
Ai let his eyes wander around the kitchen and after making sure everything was in its places, he picked Kari back up and brought her back to her room. He put her on the bed and went into his own room, returning a moment later with a book, "If I'll be staying with you then I guess, might as well catch up on my reading." |
turning her head she burried her face into Akumas chest, "i think i need to go hunting" she muttered to herself, trying to keep calm so she didnt worry Akuma, she didnt want him to fear for her.

Kari hugged to him, teasing “My hero…” She frowned as she realized he’d walked out of the room. “Hey!” she started to say with a pout before falling into bed. The roof looked funny she had come to decide as he entered the room, causing her to sit up. “Come ‘ere I need a pillow.” She announced, holding out an arm towards him and smiling. ((yes when she has a fever seh's a little silly xD)) |
Akuma held out his wrist, "Here."
Ai didn't protest, sitting down on the bed and allowing Kari to use him as a pillow. He needed the rest anyway. He placed his book to the side and closed his eyes to meditate. |
Why did you say you loved me?” Kari asked with a yawn, laying on his lap as he sat down. She closed her eyes a moment and snuggled into his thighs. The half angel relaxed, yawning as she closed her eyes. “I thought…you were going to die….” The delusional, and so honest, girl spoke. She wrapped her arm around his thigh, beginning to relax as her fever made her feel all floaty… |
Ai didn't have an answer for that, "it just...felt like the right moment."

Kari giggled as she began to half fall into a short sleep. “You are a strange man….mine, but strange…” She said with a soft contentment, snuggling into him further. She blinked slowly, trying to restrain her falling asleep but of course she failed. She would doze of and on honestly.. |
Tabitha looked up at him and her red eyes widened, she shook her head, "N-no, i cant" she whispered.

"And why not? I'll be fine." Akuma answered, raising an eyebrow at Tabitha's reaction.
Soon after Kari started to doze Ai himself fell into a deep sleep, filled with dreams that would leave him with more than just Kari's fever to be worried about. |
Tabitha looked at him, "Ill feel bad, i dont like drinking peoples blood" she said looking down, "i dont drink a drop of blood until its absolutely necessary"

"Well if you go hunting it's just a waste of a life if you don't drink their blood don't you think?"

Tabitha looked down, "i guess your right" then she looked back up, "but i dont feel right about drinking your blood" she said quietly.

"Eh, don't worry 'bout it. I'm used to it." He smiled brightly, "You won't believe how much blood Ai drinks, and he's only half-vampire. I haven't fainted yet from blood loss so I'll be fine."

Tabitha sighed and closed her eyes as tight as they would go and bit down on Akumas wrist, her eyes snapped open and she began drinking his blood, When she was finished she forced herself to remove her fangs from his wrist. "thanks" she said quietly.

Kari woke up, her fever slightly lightened so that she was no longer delirious. She glanced up to Ai, wondering what time it was but not caring really. She was comfortable laying on his lap and beginning to feel a little more at ease then she had in a long time. Something had happened with her energy….but she wasn’t sure what. Just that it was good

"See now was that so hard?" Akuma questioned ruffling Tabitha's hair with his not bloodied hand.
Ai let out another deep breath, he felt Kari's energy shift a little and smiled softly, the exchange had worked. He searched for his own energy and noted the depleted size, he would have to be careful for a long long time. |
