Earlier that night...

Lyre screamed, her voice cracking and morphing into a screech that could easily pierce the ears of most people. She kicked, wailed, scratched, kicked, doing everything she possibly could to claim freedom. Lyre couldn't even remember how this happened. Her mom was gone, and she was walking her way when someone picked her up. She couldn't see them, of course, she couldn't see anything. Her eyes forever blocked from sight. She continued to struggle, but now seeing the hopelessness of her attempts. They placed her on a table of sorts, pinning her down with their hands until they could shoot a liquid though a needle into her arm. Lyre's arms and legs went limp, and the rest of her body followed into unconsciousness.

And the next morning...
Lyre awoke, or at least she thought she was awake. She could here the mixed voices of people all ages speaking. Little children screaming, adults swearing, and the laughs of middle-aged teenagers. She could here it all, but still couldn't see it. That wasn't her main worry, though. Her body felt different, her bones felt light and hallow and her body slightly compressed into something else.
Suddenly, a hand picked her up and placed her on what felt like an arm. The hand of a person seemed much larger then earlier that very night. Perhaps she was in the land of giants. The man then started to, what felt like, demonstrating something. He pulled at her...wings? They weren't arms, Lyre could feel that. They felt feather like when the man picked them up. She began to panic, escaping but then stupidly running into a wall she did not know was there. Lyre then began to here voices laughing. "What is it, stupid?" Asked one kid, "I think it's blind." Said another. The man continued his speech, picking Lyre back up and putting her on his arm. She was too scared to move, and just listened to the voices. "This bird was rescued from a testing lab, sadly it did become blind while there. Poor thing." Said the man, after finishing gave Lyre what tasted like a form of meat. For some reason, it tasted great even though it was raw.

"What's it's name?" Asked another kid. The man answered, "Well, she doesn't have one yet. We'll be naming her soon." He put Lyre back into her cage, which by now she was just sitting, taking in the information. Bird...that would explain the wings. Lab? She hadn't come from a lab. Maybe this was all some realistic dream, and she would wake up back in her apartment. Oh how she wished it was. She walked around her cage, everyone once in awhile even flapping her wings and taking flight. Both the walking and the flying always managed for her to run into things. And when she did, she could here the children outside laughing their heads off like crazy.

Kimmora hung by her tail to a tree branch she knew the cage inside out and she really wished they would add something to it she would have to complian when she was 'human' again that it was dull and boring and maybe to put in a tire swing she laughed at the thought it was almost like she was a little kid in the counrty with a tree house and a small pond it would be even more so if she had a swing but as a child she always loved them.

Akemi got up and walked around his cage, his ears perking up as he heard someone call out "Sienna." He thought it was someone looking for their lost kid, but when he heard the laughs and all the excitement he knew it was another animal. Who's Sienna, then? He stretched up on his hind legs, attempting to see further across the zoo. "I don't see anything," he mumbled before plopping back down, laying with his head between his paws. Why the hell can't it be night already? The days seem so much longer to me now that I'm a fucking animal. He grumbled and pawed at his ear though he couldn't see it, he usually did that when he was irritated. I want a BED, god damnit. Not this dirty ass floor. He sighed.

Kala sat on a perch in her enclosure when she heard the back door open. One of the zookeepers came in and slowly approached her. "We have a job for you. The boss want's to put on the bird show, and you're going to be the star." Kala tilted her head slightly to one side while letting out a chirp. "Star... if I get food for it the sure." "Come now, all you have to do is fly around the arena." Brown wings flapped and she landed on the leather glove of the zookeeper. No use in not playing along, this should prove to be interesting though.

Conrad sneezed and the little boy surprisingly giggled. "You really are sick," He said a bit sadly and shifted a bit against the railing. The watched as the parents and teacher led the group of children away and out of the school gates, waiting for the bus to come pick them up...

The arctic fox hoped the boy would leave with his class...If he didn't he'd undoubtedly be taken as well...

Once they entered a small stadium the zookeeper was going on about how the hawk on his arm was extremely intelligent and understood everything you said. "Yea probably 'cause I'm human you idiot." Kala rolled her eyes and let out a sigh. The zookeeper continued saying that the hawks were known for their amazing speed. Kala took that to be her cue and she dove off the man's arm and swooped over the audience letting out a whoop, which came out more like a caw, as the cold wind rushed past her wings.
After circling over the people she landed gracefully on a high perch overlooking the zoo.

Paul watched closely at all of the other animals seeing that they were more lively and awake. The young cat calmly strolled around his cage wanting to get a view of each animal. Seeing as how Akemi was once human, Paul assumed that the rest of the animals were human too. Paul noted how some cages were alined together because of the simular species. The farthest one he could see was a hawk, at the time it was being handeled by a zoo keeper and swiftly flew up into the air at the zoo keeper's sentance. "I wonder if that one is human..." Paul mummbled.

Kimmora swung up from her tree branch a few times before leaping over into her tree house which gathered a bit of attention she brushed off the camera taking luckly most of them were following the 'no flash photography' rule.

From her vantage point Kala noticed that there were a lot of humans that were turned into animals which made her wonder how no one noticed that so many people were missing. "I guess a lot of people go missing every year and are never found. Such a pity, the sad this is that I'm starting to like this."
After the show was over the zookeeper told her that performing on a daily basis. "As long as I get food I don't care." Kala did the equivalent of a hawk smile as she was put back in her enclosure. Speaking of food, a nice steak sounded really good right at that moment.

Akemi sniffed the air, pawing at his cage. "Looks like most of the animals here are all human," He said to nobody in general. He looked over at Paul, then back out across the zoo. Monkeys, birds, foxes and wolves, dolphins and anything you could think of were in this zoo, and suprisingly, he could tell which were human. They had more humane characteristics than the other animals, and he'd be able to tell for sure exactly how many of them were human when night fell. A zookeeper came into his cage and leashed him, petting him and telling him he was a 'good boy.' Akemi grunted and sat down. "You have a little show in five minutes, Akemi. A lot of people have paid to see The Great Akemi behave like a domesticated kitten. You'll get treated well if you do so." Akemi looked at the zookeeper, noting his name Charles, and sniffed him, deciding he was okay for the moment.

He allowed himself to be walked to a grassier spot of the zoo, under a few trees, and watched the people seated, snapping pictures. He growled when one snapped a flash, and the zookeeper patted his back. "Please, no flash photography. Akemi here hates that flash, and if you have any shiny objects that are not bracelets, necklaces or piercings of any sort, please put those away." The zookeeper smiled and unleashed Akemi, but left the blue collar on, the same color as his eyes. "Good afternoon, and welcome to the San Diego Zoo. You all have paid much to see Akemi here, and I'm sure you'll be very pleased. I'll start out with some facts about white snow tigers, and Akemi will do some tricks along the way."

Akemi snorted as Charles began talking about his species, and he did a circle around the man, feeling weird as he was to his waist, arching his head and back like a kitten as Charles petted him. He hopped up on top of the wooden table they had set out, and Charles walked behind him, turning him sideways to show them his markings and claws. "Their claws are slightly different from regular tigers', the reason being the snow. Akemi, down. Anywho, where was I? Ah, yes, now, I will have Akemi do simple things for a tiger like he. Jumping through a hoop, fetching a ball like a dog, going through an obstacle course, and doing tricks like a dog as well." Charles brought out a hoop, and when he said 'Jump', Akemi yawned and sat down, earning laughs from the crowd. Only three more 'Jump!'s, and he did so, rolling over and being patted on his stomach, purring like a cat. This is going to be a long session...

Feeling somewhat exhausted again, Conrad felt his eyes start to close. He was almost asleep when he finally saw the boy being grabbed one of his teachers and dragged to the bus. It was better that way. Even as the child look over his little shoulder in dismay, Conrad knew it would be for the boy's own good not to be left behind or seem out of place. He had come to conclusion that those that the zoo took were strangers, without many people that would care if they disappeared... Anyone who they could snatch but not change anything...Conrad dozed off in the cold, feeling miserable all over again.

Lyre had calmed down a little, starting to get a feel for the area around here. It was small, a glass containment, which her mother talked to her about in zoos. There were things to hang off of and a feeding trough, all in which she ran into constantly. The children outside kept poking the glass, causing Lyre's ears to explode every time. And whenever she did, she'd screech, and the children would laugh again. She felt miserable, believing this is all was all a dream. She never really had dreams she could remember.

Returning to what felt like a shelter of sorts, Lyre retreated. The children pouted as they went away, seeing that she would cme out no more.

Akemi snorted as he finished the obstacle course, sitting down. The man he knew as Charles smiled and patted his head. "Now, for our last trick before Akemi has to go bye-bye," Charles said. He smiled and got out a few strips of what looked like meat cut into little pieces. Akemi's eyes widened. He immediately knew what they were for. "This is madness!" He roared at Charles and sulked off under the tree, "Oh, my dear Akemi! Don't forget your treats! Won't you do this last trick for us? You'll be rewaarded," Charles stepped closer with every word, lowering his voice on the last part. Akemi knew he was being disgraced, but he was curious as to what would he get at the end of this session. With a grunt, he got up and followed Charles back.

After the show, Akemi was leashed and taken into a totally different part of the zoo. He snorted and sat down only to be yanked to walking again. He didn't like the look of where he was being taken. He was pushed into a big tub and washed harshly, and they even brushed his fur. He was loaded into the back of a truck and taken away. He roared and the truck shook, tipping over.

Conrad shivered as he heard a mighty roar. Looking around he saw a truck start tip-

Kala heard a loud roar and wondered what was going on. If only it was night out. It's such a hassle not being about to talk.

Kimmora was swingling mindlessly on a pair of rings the groundskeeper must have installed the night before while she was out when she heard the roar.

She swung up and onto the branch like peice of metal the rings were attached to and see what was going on she knew the sound but she still scanned the grounds to see what exactly was happening.

It made him a little sick to see the swaying and tipping of the truck, and Conrad felt rather sad for whoever it was that was being hauled off.
