When Asta frowned at him, Allen thought he'd lost her. Then she wrapped her arms around him, and he swore that if his heart was beating, it would have stopped. Gently, he wrapped his arms around her, hugging her.
"Thank you, Asta," he said softly. Tilting her head up, he kissed her again. Inwardly, he was celebrating. She was willing to give him another chance! Life was wonderful! Well, as much as life got when one was undead, but he wasn't about to start splitting hairs about it. |
She accepted the kiss from him (as much as she could) before she let out a small and soft sigh, her head still tilted upward. "Allen," she said softly, a hand coming to his cheek.. but just in case he tried to turn away. "Please, don't hurt me again.." Oh no..
But she looked so sad as she looked up to him. As much as she had been yelling at him for so long, she knew that.. if he could just make her happy, things would be okay. And before, he was doing a good job of it. Now, he just.. had to be careful she supposed. Even as a vampire, she was rather tiny, and if vampire and human strength were remotely similar, his size did matter, and it was bigger. |
Hurt her? He would never hurt her if he could help it. And besides, she was a vampire, too, so she was just as durable.
"I would never hurt you intentionally," he promised. Gently, he wrapped his arms around her and held her. He noticed that the embrace was warm, and hoped that she noticed too. Since they were both the same temperature, any hug he gave her would seem warm in comparison to before. |
As he pulled her into his arms, she closed her eyes, and took in the hug. It was warm, and she took notice to it almost immediately. Her eyes opened at that point, but she didn't do a thing. Maybe living forever and a day wasn't going to be all that bad.. She would always have time to find someone in case things went wrong, and she never had to worry about getting old and gray now. The chances of her getting fat now, were slim to none, and she would always have a decently pale complexion. Not that she minded.
Maybe this could be.. nice.. Asta let out a small sigh as she began pulling away. "Allen," she began, "you know what I meant, or mean.. I don't.. want to wake up next to you, and you not feel the same as I do.." No matter what those feelings were, too. |
"Not feel the same way...?" Allen echoed. "Asta, why would I not feel the same way? I've waited for you, ever since..." He trailed off, not wanting to bring up bad memories, but afraid that he already had. "Asta, I really do care about you, and it's very possible that there's more to it than that." He looked at her pleadingly. "I really mean it."
|
"It's not that I don't believe you." Asta's voice had gotten a bit louder, and it was clear to anyone that everything she'd been telling him came from the heart. "But you.. just.. don't understand how it is for me." She knew that he really cared about her right now, and she knew that she really cared for him right now. But it was only right now.. she had no idea how he was going to feel about her within the next few years, or days even.. everything could change, he could leave, and then she would revert back to nothingness and solitude.. There would be nothing left for her in the city, and she would.. leave.
|
"Then make me understand," Allen said. Really, how hard was it to explain something? Maybe it was a girl thing... "I can't understand unless someone tells me, and you're the only one who can do that here. And I want to understand." If only there was some way to reassure her that he wasn't about to leave her. At least, that's what he thought she was afraid of...
|
With a sigh of defeat, Asta looked down, and finally pulled away from him all together. "It's okay.." she said softly. "Just forget it.." There was nothing she wanted to tell him anyway. Especially not when it involved personal stuff that he didn't need to know. Not anytime soon, anyways.
"Let's just.. can we just lay here?" Not only was she still a little bit nauseated, but she also had the utmost desire to sleep, though she knew it was impossible at this point in time. "Come on.." Gently, Asta took his arm, and began pulling him gently into the blankets with her. "We can just.. sleep.." Eventually. |
Allen let Asta pull him under the covers and wrapped his arms around her.
"Let's get some rest, then," he said softly, laying with her. "Sleep as long as you like, alright? I won't leave." He'd let the subject drop. He knew he wouldn't be able to get any information out of her, so he wasn't going to push his luck, not when Asta was tentatively liking him again. |
With a small sigh of relief, Asta nuzzled against Allen's chest, and closed her eyes nice and tight. "Thank you.." she said softly. And she was thankful that she was getting what she wanted. Slowly, Asta's arms slipped around his neck, and then she sighed out once more, this time, of a content feeling in her chest.
Smiling just a little bit, she couldn't help but to bite her lips.. She was.. almost.. excited. She was hoping for something great, and now that she was beginning to get her hopes up, she was only hoping that she wouldn't be let down. For once. |
Allen held Asta as they lay together on the bed. She still fit so perfectly into his arms, and this time, he couldn't accidently hurt her if he woke up early. He could feel the tension gradually fade from her form, and soon she was actually relaxed.
"Feeling a little better?" he asked softly. He would do anything to make her happy, and he was going to start immediately. Hopefully, he'd be able to sort through all of the contradicting things she did so he would know exactly what she wanted. |
It had indeed taken a little bit of time for Asta to actually relax in Allen's arms again. First, her arms had recoiled from his neck, and she drew them to her chest. Then, she snuggled up tighter to his body, and then finally, rolled onto her opposite side, her back to his chest. This was not only more comfortable for her, but also, now she was getting into prime position for sleep, which was what she desired most.. If only the sun would get there faster.
"Yes, Allen.." she said softly. "Thank you." |
"Anything for you," Allen replied softly. His body was starting to feel heavier, so he knew the sun was going to be rising soon. Glancing over at her window, he reassured himself that her curtains were closed. He really didn't want to burst into flames right when his unlife was starting to look up. "I think the sun is about to come up... What do you think?"
|
For Asta, the sun coming up usually meant an extreme wave of tired falling over her. It hadn't yet, for she was only her normal tired. "I don't know.." she whispered softly. She didn't know why she was letting him come back.. It wasn't a good idea.. but either way, she wanted to be where she was with him.
"Maybe.." And then it hit her. Here was the huge wave of exhaustion, the sign that the sun was fast approaching. "Mhm.. it's coming.." And then she pulled into him a bit more, and rested. |
It was well after sunrise when the masquerade finally ended. By then, most of the vampires had already retired for the day, Ana included. It took her a good few minutes to get out of her gown without help, and without tearing the gown, but she managed. She knew from experience that both Allen and Asta would be asleep, since it was after dawn, but she went to check on them just in case. It wouldn't be right for one of her own fledgelings to be careless enough to burn.
Opening Asta's door softly, she looked inside. Although it was dark, she could see both Allen and Asta lying on the bed together, snuggled adorably. Smiling to herself, Ana closed the door again, letting them have their time together. No sense in moving one of them if they were comfortable. Besides, they had the right idea. Rest sounded wonderful, and while Ana didn't have another person to cuddle with, she had a big, comfy bed to sleep in, and it was calling her name. |
It wasn't until the next 'morning' that Asta awoke. She yawned, and stretched out before she noticed who she was in the bed with. A wide smile crossed her face. "Mmmm.." she sighed softly, her face nuzzling up to his chest once more. This was so nice.. and with her mind crowded with sleepy thoughts, it was impossible for her to feel bad about the situation that she was putting herself back into. She didn't mind it one bit, not oneeeee bit.
"Allen.." Her eyes re-opened from their closed state, and she brushed a hand through his messy hair. "You wanna wake up, sleepy head?" Bad things happened when he woke up before.. but now she wasn't afraid of that. She had her own assets to protect herself with.. right..? |
Allen woke slowly, Asta's voice easing him out of his sleep. Opening his eyes, she found himself looking at her.
"Good morning, beautiful," he said softly, grinning at her. Gently, he hugged her, doing his absolute best to show her that he cared. "Feel like tracking down some breakfast?" |
Beautiful.. She never could grasp why he used that word on her. She wasn't that special.
"Track down..?" If it was one thing that Asta didn't do, was hunt. Yes, she had her share of human blood before, and yes, she knew how to control herself now.. but it wasn't something she liked doing, and she doubted her self control something severe. Sometimes it was hard to let go. "Oh uhm.. no thank you.. I'm not hungry.." Asta not hungry? LIES! |
"Sorry, I guess I used the wrong words," Allen said, grinning sheepishly. "My mistake. I didn't mean going out hunting, I meant having someone point us toward the kitchen or something." Even he didn't want to go out hunting, and he usually enjoyed figuring out new ways to get humans close enough to feed from them. But they were very far away from their 'home territory', and he didn't know the rules about hunting away from home. No sense in getting in trouble.
|
She couldn't help but to smile as she began sitting up where she was. She was still listening to Allen, a small laugh escaping her as he finished his sentence. "I think I can do that one.."
Asta only smiled down at him before finally just shaking her head. Oh, Allen was nothing but trouble.. Slipping from the bed, Asta stretched out once more, and then headed for the closest mirror. She cringed at her appearance, looking everything less than wonderful. It was okay though, Allen knew she had the ability to look so much better, and that was all that mattered to her. |
Allen came up behind her and wrapped her in a hug.
"I'm going to go and get changed. Since I figure you're going to want to do the same, I'll let you have your privacy," he said. "My door will be open if you want to come in, though." Giving her a soft kiss on the cheek, Allen started to head back towards his room. |
Jumping a little as he embraced her, Asta sighed. Some kind of vampire she was, jumping when someone touched her..
"Alright, I'll just uhm.. wash up." And then she watched him leave. As soon as she heard him enter his own bedroom, she sprung into action, and within seconds, had the bedroom door closed, and was in the nude, and showering. That was one thing she did rather enjoy about her new life; the speed. She washed her hair, face, everything, before stepping out, drying off, dressing, and then brushing the curls from her hair. Her hair was still a naturally wavy demeanor, it was less curly than before. Like nothing, she was off to Allen's bedroom, standing in the doorway. There he was, back to the door, doing.. something. She couldn't see.. either way she began tiptoeing into the room, diving onto his back, screaming, "Boo!" |
Allen was just putting on one of his favorite shirts when he heard the light, quick footsteps in his room. He braced himself just as Asta jumped onto his back and laughed.
"You're in a good mood," he said. Walking over to the bed, he bent over and set her down. Then he turned to look at her. "You look beautiful." And she did. Her hair was still wet, but it ws curling prettily as it dried, and there was a slight flush to her cheeks in spite of not having anything to eat yet. |
Why did he always have to say that.. Even before she never saw him again, he always used to praise her on her looks.
Asta smiled sweetly as she was let down onto the bed, but she didn't let him leave, and her arms slipped around one of his. "You're not going anywhere.." Pulling on his arm, she managed to get him close enough to kiss him, and that was exactly what she did, and she did it softly, their lips barely touching before she pulled away. It was odd to do this stuff after so long, and yet.. it was practically second nature to her. |
Allen grinned when Asta pulled him down next to her. He wasn't sure how he got lucky enough to get a second chance, but he definitely wasn't going to waste it. He returned her kiss gently, loving every moment of it. Wrapping his arms around her, he held her close, enjoying having her in his arms.
"Let me know when you want to go find the kitchens," he said softly. "Until then, I wouldn't mind staying like this for a while. Just us." |
