Mela was a little frightened but still more curious. This woman could read her mind. . .any thought she had was open to her. That was just kinda creepy. . .wait she can hear this. Um I like flowers. Mela blushed and said, "Um, . . I'm glad you're not going to hurt me. It seems everyone I've met so far has been really kind. I'm Mela. . oh wait I guess you already knew that. What's your name?"

Kaeryn

Kaeryn laughed.
"My name is Kaeryn. And i like flowers too, roses are my favorite."
She heard her stomach growl lightly and smiled.
"Would i be able to get some food?"

Mela smiled at her and said, still blushing, "Yes I love roses too. I did a lot of gardening but sadly I won't be able to now. Oh yes the kitchen is just this way. I can show you." Mela just took to Kaeryn and thought she seemed nice despite the weird mind reading thing. Mela headed off in the direction of the kitchen. "I'm a pretty good cook too so I'm sure I could make you something tasty. Thought I don't know my way around this kitchen just yet."

Kaeryn

Kaeryn smiled and followed, glad she had made a friend.
"I'll eat whatever you desire to cook."

Once they got into the kitchen Mela did a quick sweep to get a basic idea of where everything was. She looked over at Kaeryn, "I'll make a big meal in case some of the others want to eat as well. How about some steak, baked potatoes and corn on the cob. Wow, they have a lot of food here."

Mela looked at Kaeryn and said, "It's my first day here. I didn't really believe the stories about this place," she shrugged, "but I was wrong. Are you new here as well?" Mela tried not to think about her family back home and busied herself with getting things ready.

Kaeryn

Kaeryn nodded.
"Yeah, im tired of wandering, you know? And, I'm sorry about your family."
She put a hand on Mela's shoulder.
"If you ever want to talk, I'm here."

Mela wiped a single tear away and smiled at the other woman placing her hand on hers. "Thank you Kaeryn. It's nice to know I have someone I can come to in this place. I've tried to be brave but it's hard knowing I can't ever go back to my old. I guess I will just have to do my best right?" She was trying to be positive.

Kaeryn

Kaeryn smiled.
"Yeah, you can always come to me."
She leaned on the counter looking to see if she could help with anything.
"You, need any help?"

Mela felt comfortable with Kaeryn and cooking seemed to be helping as well. It was good to feel useful instead of just always hiding behind James.

She pointed to the potatoes and said, "If you could start the oven and put those in that would be great." She had started the corn and the meat.

Kaeryn

Kaeryn nodded and picked up the potatoes easily, putting them in the oven. She turned the oven on and hopped up onto the conter, watching Mela cook.
"How did you come to be here anyway. i know you said it was because you were curious but, I still wonder."

As Mena cooked she said, "I grew up just outside of the town that's near by here. I grew up with stories from my grandfather about the horrible Haunted Hall and the creatures that live there. I even read about it in some of my books. It seemed like it was just all that, a fairy story. I was curious to know if it was true or not. I really did not believe I would find anything so at the time it did not seem like a big deal." She forced out a laugh, "Guess I was wrong."

Kaeryn

Kaeryn looked down at her feet as she kicked her feet back and forth as she sat on the counter.
"Im sorry...I came here by choice...and you came here..by accident..."
She thought about her past and shook her head.
"You shouldnt be forced to be stay here...but i guess thats not up to me.."

Mela finished cooking and got everything set on the table. "It's okay. It was my own fault for coming here I suppose. Though I don't really understand why this head vampire guy wants to keep everybody locked in here."

Mela found some plates and set them down taking a seat saying, "What about you Kaeryn, why did you come here? Oh, is that a rude thing to ask? Well if you don't want to answer it's okay." Mela had a bad habit of putting her nose where it did not belong and had to keep herself in check.

Kaeryn

Kaeryn shrugged.
"I came here by choice."
Popping a peice of potatoe in hermouth, she swallowed and stretched her arms.
"I heard about it by a few vampires in a city a few miles away. I've been wandering for years and, and i just got tired of going place to place..."

Mela had eaten some soup before but was still a bit hungry. She helped herself to a little bit of everything. She said to her, "That sounds like a good reason. Wanting to find a place to call home. What about your family thought?" As soon as she said it she realized this could be a bad question. Did vampires even have families? She supposed so if what she had read had been correct. Weren't vampires changed from humans?

Kaeryn

Kaeryn ate another potatoe peice, with a bored expression.
"My father abandoned me and my mother before i was born, and rouge vampires killed my mother."
She sat down, taking a bit of everything and putting it on a plate. Silently she ate.

Mela looked away and said softly, "I'm sorry. I should not have asked such a personal question." She felt like a heel for asking such a personal question. She could not even begin to imagine what kind of life Kaeryn had gone through.

She just silently ate.

When Kaeryn said nothing Mela just knew she had said the wrong thing. She feel quiet as well and poked at her food. She had made too much but maybe the others could eat it. If not she could save it for tomorrow.

Kaeryn

"Its just..painful...thats all.."
She didnt want to make the girl feel bad..

"I'm sorry," she said to her, "I tend to get nosy some times and it's rude of me." She did not want to hurt Kaeryn by making her bring up bad memories. She said, "I would show you around but I really don't know the place. Plus James said there were some . . .bad vampires here and I'm a bit afraid to go exploring."

Kaeryn

"You didnt hurt me. My past is just that, the past."
Finished, she pushed her plate away and leaned back in her chair.
"If anyone attacks you ill protect you, alright?"

"Okay," Mela smiled at her. She had really wanted to explore being as curious as she was but she wasn't dumb enough to go get herself killed. She said to her, "I think I will feel much better that way." She put her plate away and the left overs in the fridge. Once she was ready she walked over to Kaeryn and said, "Should be go left or right?"

Kaeryn

"Lets try right."
She stood up gracefully and slid the chair in, walking next to Mela.
"Just stay close, ok?"

"Okay that sounds good," she said to her. Mela looked at her quickly and said, a little embarrassed, "Is it okay if I hold your hand. . .I just don't want to lose you." She also had a bad habit of getting distracted by things that caught her fancy and she really didn't want to be wandering around without a good vampire on her side.
