Jackie frowned at the captains words. "Jules is down below, in his bunk. John and William are at the market. I sent them to buy the rest of the supplies we need." She looked over her shoulder at Daniel.

She looked back at the captain, "Daniel was roped into the trip as well. Though he did not have anything to do with the planning of it."

The Captain groaned and stomped over to Daniel, he smacked him across the back of his head causing the smaller man to stumble. "Stop going along with them, you have to say no to them some of the times and take the beating they may give you" He growled as he turned and walked away shaking his head.
Anton walked towards where Jules had gone and started to descend into the belly of the ship pulling out a pistol as he stomped down the creaking wooden stairs, "Jules! I am having a bone to pick with you!" he yelled angrily.

Daniel rubbed the back of his head, The Captain had gone relatively easy on him but he'd spared no force when he'd hit him. God how his head hurt now, he was going to have a headache.

Jackie sighed. "That went better than expected." Now that the captain was taking care of the problem, she could go back to relaxing. The muffled shouts of Jules and Ivanov could be heard from below but until Jacqueline heard the pistol go off she wouldn't worry.

"If you'd like Daniel, I can teach you how to defend yourself. So next time you can say no to Jules stupid ideas and not get a beating." She leaned against the rail again, watching Daniel rub the lump on his head.

Daniel looked up at Jackie and sighed shrugging "I aint a violent man miss" He said quietly, "But I suppose if it could spare me being swindled into Jules' adventures...I might take you up on that offer."

He smiled a little and set the mop down against the railing, a thoughtful look crossing his features. It never looked good to be taking defense lessons from a woman, but then again this was Jacqueline we were talking about.

Jackie smiled, and chuckled. "Defense isn't really about violence. It's more about not letting the the other guy hit you. Being smaller than Jules will help, as you'll be quicker." She shrugged. "We can start whenever you want."

She heard the rowdy banter of some of her crew returning. It was John and William returning, each with a cartload of supplies. They set down the carts at the end of the gang plank and lugged the bought supplies up onto deck. Jacqueline watched them as they slunk by her. "Be sure to drop some of that in the kitchen." She directed, knowing that they'd have to pass by the bunks to get there.

John and William just grumbled and waved her away. John lifting a few sacks over his shoulders and Will grabbing a barrel of liquid, the two of them hauling them down to the kitchen.

Daniel watched the men and shook his head, "I almost feel bad for them, I do" He said with a slight laugh, "An you...you're sendin them right into the lions den! " Daniel paused for a moment, "Nay...not the Lion...Capitan is no Lion...he's more like one o'them great, white, monster Tigers...". He nodded in approval at his comparison and picked up the mop once more.

Jackie watched the pair descend into the hold with a pleased expression. "I have no sympathy for them. They should have learned the chain of command by now. They deserve everything they get."

Jacqueline had to wait only moments before the gruff shouts of the captain could be heard from below. "The captain can certainly be a beast at times, but that is why he makes such a good captain. If he wasn't so savage we would be as successful."

Daniel nodded a bit in agreement with her statement, "Same as you am I right? If ever anything were to happen to Captain Ivanov, God forbid, I don't think I'd be voting Jules up to captain " He Said softly, "Captain has found that middle ground between fear and friendship with his crew...Jules only knows how to scare people.." Daniel shrugged and laguhed a bit "Ahh But What do I know...I just mop the decks" He muttered a bit a slight smile on his face.

The Captain in question came tromping back up the stairs a scowl on his face, "I waz going to have them returning what it was they had stolen" He grumbled, more to him self, but it was intended for everyone, "But it waz to much to be returning!"

Ivanov clopped across the deck and looked directly at Daniel with cold eyes, "Do not do those thingz again" He said angrily "I will give you more for just letting them be beating you up...I do not want to see this again"

Jackie looked down the stairs at the dark hold. It was a good sign that the captain hadn't come on deck with blood on him. "Will the miscreants be needing the services of the surgeon when he returns?"

The comments Daniel had been making concerned her. The boy had so much potential, he could have any position on ship if he tried. That he was content to do the tedious menial work confused Jacqueline. From the moment she had stepped aboard as a crew member she had always pushed for more. She'd had lessons in every position available, maybe she should do that for Daniel.

Ivanov shook his dark shaggy mane a little "No...they will be fine" He grumbled, "Let them live with their bruisez and and Injuriez as a reminder of their stupidity!" He seemed deeply upset by what had happened "I will be retiring to my cabin...I am not trusting Jules to not try something stupid again tonight"

Daniel watched his captain disappear into his cabin, he looked back at Jackie for a moment and then set down his mop against the rail. He looked over at Jackie for a moment, his eyes flashing with a bit more confidence now "So those lessons?" He asked softly.

Jacqueline smiled. "Alright, we have some time before anyone comes back." She walked over to Daniel and grabbed his shoulder. "Now, when you know a person means you harm and they grab you like this there are a few ways to deal with them." Jackie explained several ways to throw them off balance going through the actions in slow motion.

"Do you think you got that? Jules may be dumb and belligerent, but he's no coward. If he's going to hit you, you'll see it coming." She glanced at the hold, checking to see if anyone was about. "We can practice these for today and I'll teach you to defend attacks from behind tomorrow."

Daniel watched her every movement, bright intelligent eyes following her every movement and taking in every thing she said and did. Quietly he mimicked them, but only slightly, movements barely perceptible. He seemed rather eager to learn these movements.

When she spoke he looked up and smile "Oh I got that, its pretty simple stuff really" He said softly. He stuffed his hands in his pockets watching her with a smile. "Ah are we going to practice on the deck?" He asked looking out over the edge of it, "I'd rather not tos you in the water or get tossed in the water my self..."

Jackie let out a laugh. "You're right. I can't leave until the next bell, but after that we can go somewhere more accommodating." Even though the docks were fairly deserted someone still had to watch the ship. One never knew when there could be rouges and thieves about.

Judging by the hourglass by the helm her shift would be over relatively soon.
