It was a night like any other. the sea was calm, the sky was clear and Nothing could have broken the silence Prince Destian enjoy while perched on a rock that jotted out from the coat line. His father always told him not to go close to the Humans but he never could see how people who walked to land could every to a threat to those who swam under the sea. Here was no competing with a sea born Merfolks. The only thing the poses a threat to them were fishing ship and the invisible net humans like to use.

Destian Didn't care how dangerous it was to be out in the open. He just like the feeling of water soaked wind on his bare skin and scale. If it wasn't for this 'bad' habit of his he would have never see the human girl that was through from a moving boat. He was unsure if she had been push off or had fallen off by accident, he was just sure that she needed help. It was crime, punishable by death, to help any human that was drowning or was lost at sea. Desitan didnt care. He just felt a strong need to help the poor soul in the dark night waters.

Without regret for his own life. He dove into the water. His Black hair came lose from the tie and swirled around him. His golden eyes searched the water for any signs of the girl battle with the waves. To the east is were he saw his girl splashes and he wasted no time getting to her. Talking hold of her hips he push her head above the water, But it was even a struggle for a good swimmer like Destian, to keep the struggling girl supported above water.

A few seconds ago, everything was picture perfect. Arienne was mingling with other crew members, laughing merrily, and dancing to the beat of the music. That is until a bystander shoved her overboard. Arienne shouted for help, but over the roaring of the music, no one had heard her. Just before she had fallen, the attacker thrust a knife through her side, causing severe bleeding. Blood rushed from her side and she was pushed overboard

It wasn't a long way down, but by the time Arienne had hit the water, she knew that her life was at stake. The waves hadn't seemed so rough and forceful on the boat, but now that Arienne was plunging into the depths of the water, she felt the full impact. Suddenly, if by magic, she felt her body being pulled up above the water. She gasped a sigh of relief and choked on gallons of sea water. Her vision was blurry and her mind was in a cloudy haze by the time was able to speak. Arienne could not see her rescuer but saw a subtle outline. She mustered up enough strength to mouth the words "thank you" , shake her head, and push away. There she was, floating on the water.

Her guardian angel, one of which we all have, had arrived moments ago. The feeling of death aroused her thoughts and brought her here. Seeing Arienne lying there motionless made her feel sick to her stomach. Of all the people in the world, why did she have to die? Aliah, the guardian angel, also saw the merman. Aliah thought for several moments before shooting a blinding light at the merman. She then whispered what was thought to be gibberish, but was an actual transformation spell. Arienne was no longer a human.

Ariennes lifeless body was transforming into something anew, something with a tail. Her long legs molded together, the caucasian skin forming into millions of blueish-green scales. The skin between her fingers grew slightly, and her short hair starting growing at an alarming rate. The clothes she was wearing disappeared, returning with garments fit for underwater living. Here eyes snapped open, and she slowly drifted deeper into the water. Ariennes instinct got the better of her, and she flailed her arms around searching for something to grasp. All that surrounded her was water however. Arienne snapped her tail forward and backward, twisting and twirling in the murky waters. This was all to new, and she was in utter shock.

Arriene soon found out that she was not alone, there was another mercreature staring at her with a blank face. She was startled, and froze in her tracks. "H-hello? I-is someone there?" she asked nervously. Arienne swam closer, still a bit wobbly, and raised a limp arm. She touched the rough skin on the creatures arm and cupped her hand over her mouth. 'Its real..' She thought.

Destian Backed away. He had never seen something like that before. HE didnt know Humans could change at will. There was an old story in his kingdom about a small group of Merfolks leaveing the watter to live on the land. But he always thought that it was nothing more then a myth. Seeing this he now started to second guess his first feelings about this story. Never the less he had to ask "What manner of Human are you to turn into a tailed beast before my eyes. Destian's Voice could be hear very clear through the night waters.

Arienne had distorted her face into something inexplainable and replied, "The normal kind? I mean..I was about to die you know. My guardian angel had saved me by turning me into a...a..." She pondered in thought for quite some time before shouting, "Mercreature!"

Quite abrubtly, Arienne's guardian angel appeared. "Destian!" Her strong voice boomed, " I have turned this human into one of your kind. She is to live her life here, in the deep waters. I was afraid that she wouldn't live on the land, so there. If that answers your question, I shall be bidding you farewell. Any questions?" The guardian angel flipped her hair behind her back.

Destian Protested this idea that a outsider join his fathers kingdom. It was too much of a risk for both of them. His face hardened and he answered the guardian's question "NO, You take her back to her own world. I will not have and human join my world!." Destain was sure he was making the right choice. the few occasions that he had mingled with guardians, felt a sour taste in his mouth and he was sure not going to be bossed around my a fairy in his own kingdom.

The guardian angel just merely stood there with a solemn look plastered on her face. She sighed heavily and cooed, "If that is what you wish your majesty. But let me just say that you will forevermore rot until the day you die!" She raised a menacing fist before turning to Arienne. "I guess you will have to die, sweetie. Im so sorry." She shook her head.

The guardian raised a hand and shot a blast of spray towards Arienne, trying to kill her. The mist barely caused a scratch. "W-what? How is that possible?!" The guardian cried, " She must be too pure. No, that is not it, just innocent." The guardian smirked and gazed toward Destian, "I tried. Looks like she will stay here, part of your kingdom or not."

Destian through his hands up with a grunt of displeasure. This was not going to end well if his father every knew what she had once been human. The sad thing was that no secret ever stay secret for long in his father kingdom. There were far too many rat to count. Destian grabbed the girl hand and pulled her away from the guardian. With a final look back to the angel he hissed "Begone out of my kingdom, you useless hag" it was not the way one would normaly talk to a person with lots of power but Destian was not in the mood to smooth over his feelings. She looked at the girl "Dont speak to me" he huffed and started to lead her into the dark water that layed below them.

The guardian snarled and curled her fingers together, ready to fight. Though she knew that he must have been tremendously angry, so she stopped. "Farewell, Arienne." She whispered. "Oh, yes, goodbye to you too, Destian." She growled.

Arianne just followed Destian down into the waters without hesitation. She thought of speaking, but knew he would yelp. "Im sorry about this." She whispered very, very, very quietly.

Destian hissed at the sound of the guardians voice. It was amazing how far sound can travel under water. He turned around to meet the womens stare. He called out "If you ever come back I will make sure your head from a spike to sit upon" With one last powerful flick of this tail, the Prince disappeared into the darkness with the girl in hand.

when he was sure no one could hear him speak he stopped. His purple eyes glowed in the dark water, making the grumpy boy look like a beast. He let go of the girls hand and swam around her three times taking in ever signal detail over her looks and moment.

"Arianne... That is a lovely name. Im am sorry for the late introduction, but my name is Destian Rake, Third Son to King Rake, Third Prince of the Lower Kingdom. I see you have a guardian. it is very rare that a human some a magical servant at their command. You must have impressed the could people somehow." With those words the Prince changed from a man that was on the verge of attacking to a playful and layed back boy. Destian hand softened and he bowed to the girl "You are a special person and I will see to your care, No matter what happened. I must say Im sorry to the way that I spoke to your Guardian, I could tell she meant us no harm, but first impressions are sometimes wrong. When I was a little boy. Guardians (Like yours) sacked out kingdom and felt if in ruins, Since then no one in the seas trusts them. It had taken & year to restore the kingdom to a livable condition... and I will not see it destroyed again!"

Destian righted himself again and looked her in the eyes "Now, what should we do with you?..."

"So be it!" The guardian thrust a fist into the air. "Argghh!" She screamed menacingly before disappearing.

"Im so sorry about her. I- ....She can be a bit prude sometimes. I-its not her fault...." Arianne shook her head softly then perked up. "Oh! Thank you. I've always adored my name." She smiled, "Destian....A Prince? Well, then, im pleased to meet you, your majesty." She curtsied, which she found quite difficult, so instead bowed. Arienne giggled, "I'll just stay here. Explore, ya know? Go ahead and return to your kingdom! Its not like i'll meet any vile squids or something." She stifled a small giggle and swam deeper into the water. Arienne swam so deep that she could easily grab a handful of wet mud, which she did. She floated back up to see Destian still swimming there. "Why still here, Prince? Your kingdom needs you. Besides, I can't go anywhere near there, I was a human. Don't you remember?" She smirked.

Destian looke dta the girl with a black face. "do you even know how dangurous this area is? you will get etan by the morning if you stay her by yourself, not even the bravest warriors will swim in these waters" His face darkened and he grabed her arm. You will coem to the city and live here untill I can figure out what to do with you." His eyes looked the young girl up and down " at least you look like mermaid, you will pass for one al long as your dont talk about the human world at all."

Arienne pulled her arm away. "No! I will do what I wish! Right now, I wish...I wish to...stay here!," She stared at him viciously "And there is nothing you will do to stop me!" Arienne stood there, motionless, full of hate and anger. That is, until she saw the squid of course, "D-destian? I-i take that back, come on!" She shrieked. Arienne thrust her hand forward and latched his hand to hers with a gentle grip. "Squid!" She screamed while dragging him toward the kingdom.

Destain smile slightly. "Its alright that beast knows that its not smart to attack a member of the royal family" He held her close to her body and he swam on. his eyes locked with hers "You have a fire in your eyes. If you were to fight with me your will would be grater then my own... where do you get all that passion from?" he asked.

Arienne nudged him lightly and grinned, "So now these creatures are smart, eh? Is there anything else I should know about this world?" She rose her brow and shrugged. "I would never fight you, Destian. You are much to gentle! Besides, injuring a member of the family is very well forbidden, am I correct?" She paused for a moment, thinking about his question. " I-i don't know. Maybe its because when I am near you, as crazy as this may sound, it feels like I am powerless....my soul is trying to fight and regain its strength." She moved out of his grasp, but still remained close.

Destian chuckled. Her words seemed childish and stupid to his ear, but there was something about them that rang true. "What would make you think that things that live im the sea are stupid? Just because you humans eat us dose not make use stupid at all." With a slight adjustment of of how the prince glided down into the water. He was not swimming on his back. The rays of light from the sun barely touched his face this face from the surface. "your the lucky one, I would give anything to walk on the land." he glance at her. "do one tell a should that your were once human... If you do that king will kill you on the spot."
