"umm, no, not really" she said, blushing, the truth was, she was useless without the light, and got lost in it, and was still semi-scared of the dark. Sophie Gripped onto Marr's hand, not wanting to get lost. " Why do I have to wear this cloak for?" she asked " It's re~ally heavy" she looked around, still not being able to see.

Standing and watching Fayne and Holly converse he caught the glance that the elf shot in his direction, feeling a vibe of hatred flowing his direction made the half breed grin. So it would seem Fayne and he shared the same feelings towards each other, which was no surprise to Vik, but all the same it would simply serve to confirm his suspicions. Watching the matron as she came his direction he turned his back to her in preparation to make the move to their new destination. Once she was done addressing Holly he waited a moment before nonchalantly asking, "So, what went wrong?" There had obviously been something wrong or else the conversation between her and the priestess would have went more smoothly. His face held no expression as his golden eyes gazed upon the smaller woman waiting both to leave and for an answer.

"I'm crying because I'm mad at myself for hurting you." Holly whispered looking down for a moment until he spoke again. She looked up at him and saw the smile. A smile appeared on her own face when he glared at Vik. They both had shared feelings of dislike for the half vampire. Looking to Selk she nodded. "I'd never do anything other than take good care of him. I'm sure he can manage to get through being able to see. Nothing is too hard for him." After that Holly took both his hands and made sure he could stand before she began to walk out of the room. Once they were far enough away from the room Holly whispered "Fayne, I'm sorry. I thought I could trust her. But I don't think I can. It won't happen again."

Marr glanced to Sophie, irritation written over his features. "Yes, you must wear the cloak," he hissed. "It's the only thing keeping you from being a ball of heat signature for hungry creatures." He shook his head. "And I suppose we have one last stop to make before we can head out. I need you to be able to see if you're about to step off of a cliff." The drow snorted, and headed back toward the city, pulling Sophie along after him.
When they passed through a few streets, the male slipped into what seemed to be a makeshift shop of some sort. After bargaining for many minutes, the dark elf finally handed Sophie a necklace made of delicate black chain. When they were outside once again, Marr helped her put it on.
"This will allow you to see as we do. You will see the heat signals in the air." Very useful for the Underdark. Slipping his hand into Sophie's once again, the tall male pulled her along until they were back outside the city, looking back at it just as they were before. "Is there anything else that might cause issues for you along the way?"
-

With a smile, Selk chuckled, watching in silence as Holly and Fayne left the room. "Wrong?" she grinned, her white teeth standing out against her dark face. "Only the fact that he isn't under our complete control. I had her put a spell into his blood . . . he is truly mine now." Walking over to the table that rested beside where Fayne was previously laying, the matron lifted a simple ring. "I can force him to do things he normally wouldn't do. But where I asked for complete control, there is still the chance that he can resist my orders." Selk frowned. "That's what went wrong."
After slipping the ring onto her finger, the lithe woman spun about, smiling. "And now for your blood. I know of an entire family that you can kill, if you're up to following orders today, half breed."
-

"Selk's tongue is more dangerous than the dragon that accompanied you down here," Fayne whispered back, shaking his head. His eyes were roaming over nearly everything in sight, taking it all in as he readjusted. "I don't blame you for falling for her tricks." I just wish you would have listened to me the first time.
Stepping toward their rooms, the weapon master frowned. "They took my weapons. I would like to retrieve some from my room." It wasn't long before they were there, and Fayne pushed his door open. Looking around, he sighed. "It looks so different from what I was picturing." His silver eyes lingered on the spotlessly clean room for a moment before he stepped over to a closet, which was just a hole in the wall with fabric hanging before it. He withdrew multiple blades, slipping them into various places about his person.
"Perhaps you should try not to fall for Selk's words a second time," Fayne said after a while of silence, obviously not completely over the entire ordeal. It was hard to forget when you could suddenly see everything once again.

"I'm sorry Fayne. I won't. I promise I won't. This time I swear I'll listen." Holly whispered quietly looking at him for a moment. "You still manage to get along quite well without being able to see. What did you think it would look like?" She asked standing in the doorway. Why had she listen to Selk? So many things she had to learn about being down here. Most importantly, if Fayne says not to trust some, don't trust them. "You're mad at me for not listening, aren't you?" She asked looking down at the floor.

Fayne paused. Without being able to see, he immediately put things into a gray-scale - everything was a shade of gray. Looking around again, he realized that there were subtle colors in just about everything. He shook his head, deflecting her question on what he'd thought of his room.
When he glanced over to Holly, who was standing in the doorway and looking at the floor dejectedly, the weapon master frowned. Stepping closer, he offered his hand. "I am . . ." he paused, "upset, yes." Fayne shook the silver hair from his face. "Anyone would be, if they said something only to have their word disregarded." His silver eyes scanned over the vampire's face, and the tall elf sighed. "What's done is done."

The half breed listened in to the woman's words with intense interest as a smile slowly crept upon his facial features, "I see," he said as he folded his arms across his chest under the guise of his cloak. He wasn't still wasn't sure if he should trust the cunning woman entirely yet he felt he could, even against what he would assume was his better judgement. He allowed himself to do so, but only since he had faith he could defend his life and she would be foolish to turn against an ally such as he. Feeling an urge come over him he smiled maliciously as he thought about the feelings he held for her, secretly feeling that they may cost him his life one day, but all things would come to an end if one was not careful. Taking a few steps in Selk's direction as she walked over to the table to retrieve the ring, he paused for a moment before speaking, "I can see that Fayne knows something is amiss, he will attempt something sooner or later I am sure." Then slowly closing the gap between the matron and himself he reached out and pulled the woman by the waist into him as he pressed his lips to hers. After a few brief moments their lips parted and Vik asked, "Are you sure you want me to leave your side at the moment? If I were him, I would enact my revenge now while you think I'm adjusting and weakened." It was a simply strategy based on the element of surprise but against someone like her he wondered how effective it would be. "I have no problem going to do your bidding for a moment being so long as you feed me once I am done," he added with a mysterious smile.

Selk was surprised when Vik snagged her by the waist, but didn't protest as he pressed his lips to hers. "What else can I pay you with if not blood?" she asked, smirking slightly. "A half vampire needs to feed, does he not?" Her black finger moved to touch his lips before she kissed him again. "This is why I have you protecting me, guardian." Selk laughed. "You are smarter than most idiots down here." She nodded. "Fayne knows, and most likely suspects what has been done to him. He will strike soon, I will guarantee it."
The matron glanced toward the door. "I will give you your assignment, Vik. It is your choice when to do it." She fingered the ring on her hand before motioning for him to follow her, slowly pulling away from him. "Let me show you which house you will be invading when you choose."

"If not blood, then I will accept the payment of those daggers I requested. My own body is more of a weapon than the blades I carry now, although skill makes up for the rust that these have gathered," he answered half jokingly. Then with a smirk he added, "As a guardian it is my job to be more intelligent than those that would cause you harm, is it not? I wouldn't be doing my job if I wasn't looking out for you." He felt the urge to kiss her once more but suppressed it quickly knowing that now was not the time as he began to follow her as beckoned. His mind now went to figuring out how soon Fayne would make his move, it would be quickly although would it be today? With that in mind, as he looked around at his surroundings for subtle areas that may be useful, the half breed asked, "How many are in this house that you want me to topple?"

Taking his hand she looked up and met his gaze. "I know. I thought you were going to yell at me. I didn't want you to but I thought it would be normal if you did. I kinda expected when you looked at me you wouldn't want to talk to me. I would die...well not literally, but I would feel like dying." Holly used her other hand and traced the scars on his face again before hugging him tightly. "I know why you don't trust her. I don't either. She didn't tell me she was going to do anything other than making you see. But, I don't think that was true. I don't know. I didn't know." She pulled back away from him reaching over and taking his hand again. "Before you go rest I want to show you something."

Selk chuckled. "The family, the Ray-ten house," her accented voice was a purr as she spoke, and she stepped through the doorway confidently, heading for the library once again. "I want their army. The only ones I want you to kill is the family themselves." She grinned. "There are twenty, counting the children and males." After all, it was the females that were the leaders. "If you can slip in, kill them, and return to me without being seen . . . then our forces will have an entire section of the city all to ourselves."
Grasping a tome off of one of the library's dusty shelves, the drow set it on a small table nearby and flipped it open. After a few moments she pointed to a symbol, tapping the purple fire-like rune before looking around for a map. She pointed out where the house was, and began to brief Vik on the layout of the building itself. Telling him what her spies had found out about the guards and patrols, how to get in . . . and out . . . safely.
"I trust you can do this, Vik."
-

I don't yell often. He didn't say the words on his mind, but raised an eyebrow while she spoke. Fayne blinked slowly as she traced over the markings on his black skin, and embraced the vampire when she initiated the hug. "I forgive you." The words sounded forced, as though he had never said such a thing, but the weapon master meant it. He couldn't blame Holly . . . she was used to the surface world and its ways.
Taking her hand, his face its usual mask of stoic expression, Fayne chose to give her hand a slight squeeze. What is it, then?

Vik listened in intently with an air of business about him, understanding your enemy was key to good results. As she explained everything and showed him the layout of the place he nodded and memorized the entire house from top to bottom with a deep interest in the number of guards and patrol routes. Placing his finger on the map he traced out a quick route for him to take assuming that everyone was where they would normally be then he asked, "How resistant are drow to poison?" He assumed it wouldn't be any different than most other species but he asked just in case. If everything checked out then he already had a plan to complete his task even before she had finished speaking. The half breed knew a large variety of ways to kill and had yet to show some of his more powerful abilities as of yet, but he planned to use his strongest poison, it was untraceable and would kill the victim within a few minutes of contact. The best part was all that was needed was a drop the size of a pinhead. The catch was that the danger it posed to them was the same to him. He had planned to use his blade-like fingernails to deliver the poison to its new carriers but he would need to be careful not to get any on his hands or else he would die without knowing that he had. It was a risk but the reward was just as high...

Selk raised an eyebrow, smiling as Vik asked his question. "Unless they see it coming and can somehow escape, there is no hope." The matron looked down to the map, thinking over the layout before pointing to a specific area. "I suggest you avoid this area. Their priestess is a powerful sorceress, and is bound to have many magical traps set up." And she will be mine once her house is destroyed.

The half breed responded with a nod, now all he needed was a little time to prepare the poison and he could begin. Taking note of her request the half breed made no open response instead turned around confidently proclaiming before giving her a passionate kiss, "It will be done within the hour, now I need to go get ready." It would seem that she wanted no one harmed but the family so he would need to be careful not to make any mistakes, no matter how often you did this there was always a margin to slip up. Vanishing from plain sight, Vik made his way back to his room keeping from the eyes of anyone who might grow suspicious of him. Once he was there he quickly whipped out his pack and grabbed the small vial of poison that he would be using, carefully dipping each of his fingernails within it. Once all of his nails had been dipped he and they had dried off he took a sip from the antidote bottle that he kept with him just in case he had gotten any on him and he put everything away. Now ready for the mission he clung to the shadows once more creeping towards the location of the Ray-ten household...

"umm, can you put the necklace on me? i dont know how" she admitted, blushing"And what will happen if i get lost?" she asked, looking back towards the city wondering if anyone had noticed her. 'He forgave me...I'm so glad he did.'"Close you're eyes." Holly said leading him through the halls, and to the doorway outside. Before she opened it she looked back to be sure his eyes were closed. Pushing him outside she looked around at the city which had the colorful flames around the buildings, the flames still amazed her. "Okay, open your eyes." Waiting for his reaction she watched his face carefully. Hopefully he would smile, at least.

Reaching his destination the young half breed looked at the building from an alleyway across the street with a stoic expression, it was time. He saw some of the guards moving on doing their patrol and immediately dashed across the street and quickly scaled the house making an entrance in the designated location. This job would have to be quick so that he could get back to Selk, nothing had better happen to her while he was away or he would bring the whole underdark to its knees. Taking a quick glance left and right he realized he was one room away from the children's room and so he blended to the shadows. Making a silent entrance the children were all play fighting which would make his job easy. Casting an illusion over the room he walked into the room full of kids he simply walked around placing a small scratch on the kids, enough to kill them within the minute. Next was the men.

He needed to go up a floor but he wanted to enjoy the fun so he decided to walk. Making his exit out of the kids room he saw a male walking down the hallway and heard a females voice not far behind him. Needing a place to hide, Vik leaped straight up and clung to the ceiling watching the two as they got ready to check on the kids but before they got a chance to open the door the half breed came slamming down on them. Giving them both light scratches, they would be dead before they woke up from the impact of him pouncing on them. It would seem he had four men and four women left to take care of now and he wouldn't have time to walk if someone had heard them slam against the ground. The children had went silent as well, time was now a factor.

Racing upstairs he listened for a distinct group of men and or women located together but heard none, so it seemed he would have to search for them individually. He passed a few servants here and there as he searched, keeping to the darkness, and periodically took out a male or female of the family until all that was left was the household matron. She was in her chambers asleep as Vik appeared from the shadows stalking her like a snake would a mouse. The woman turned over in her sleep facing the half breed then suddenly opened her eye and at that moment Vik snatched her up by the neck cutting off her air supply. He hadn't wanted to poison her, he would watch the life leave her eyes. The elven woman kicked and flailed about in his hands trying to win her freedom but it was apparent that there was no hope for her. Applying added pressure to her neck the assassin could feel her neck begin to collapse beneath his grip as her body fell limp.

With a satisfied look about his face, Vik laid her back in bed and covered her back up. Once the guards found her he would be long gone, just like the entirety of this household, and with his job now done he vanished only to appear back within his own quarters minutes later...

(Let me explain something, Vik has no dream and has no purpose, he has lived his life as a blade for hire. Now there is a person in his life that actually seems to care for him, as he does for her, and she asks him to complete a simple task he has done a million times over. I think that it was a simple choice for him. Despite his uneducated background the half breed is highly intellegent and resourceful, but he has a weakness like everyone else so leave him alone!!!)

((*laugh* Aw, Vik is just doing what he thinks he should do. Selk isn't good . . . but drow are hardly worth the pity. Every single one of them grows up in a life of darkness . . . so everyone he killed had it coming at some time or another. And the children . . . he probably saved them from complete evil.))

Marr grimaced, shoving Sophie's hair out of the way and clipping the necklace into place. "Can you see now?" he asked, frowning. "And you won't be getting lost." The drow snorted. "If you do, try to find your way back . . . and survive." Even drow perished in the Underdark caverns, so he really had no hope that she would if she was lost. Not mentioning it, he snagged her hand, though a bit more gently than necessary. "I need to patrol. Let's go."
-

Fayne smiled a bit, closing his silver eyes when bidden. It wasn't long until he reopened them - and he stood for a few moments, completely still. Stunned, the weapon master let a genuine grin slip over his black face. "It's been years," he whispered, unable to say more. The multicolored flames gently licked at every house, the onyx city rising elegant and strong. Fayne shook his head, blinking rapidly. "I'd resigned to never seeing it again."
His pale gaze moved to Holly, and he stepped closer to her, pulling the vampire to him. In a suddenly strange mood, the dark elf leaned forward, pressing his lips to hers. "Thank you."
-

Vik's actions went unnoticed. No one knew what was happening, no one knew how to stop it - the only person that suspected something was wrong was the sorceress of the household. Keeping her place, she did nothing, blaming her suspicions on the group of hunters that were readying themselves to head out into the caverns.
In the end, Selk was victorious. The house was now part of the Toshiba reign - and it was the first of many. The city would stand divided until the matron held control.
-

Sitting in her chambers, slowly sipping the hot drink in her hand, Selk awaited Vik's return. Reading in complete silence and darkness, the matron kept her long hair braided back behind her, her black skin smelling of soft soap. Still slightly damp from her bath, the dark elf let her purple glowing eyes trail over the heat-embroidered tome, taking another drink of her tea. After a few matronly duties, she was free for the evening - again.
Waiting for news from her assassin, Selk could hardly contain herself, casting multiple glances up to the door every time she thought she heard or saw, or even sensed something coming. Forcing herself to continue reading, the drow sighed quietly. Be patient.

"okay" Sophie said, gripping onto his hand tightly "Marr, Why don't you like me for?" she asked, running to keep up with him, hoping that he would answer her. Sophie looked up at her but as she did this she tripped over a rock and landed on her palms, grazing them. She sat up and brushed her palms, trying to get all of the dirt off of them.
