Peter smiled, "You're different, they're just afraid of you because they don't understand you. As for me, I never really paid you any nevermind. I didn't even notice you had those ears till today." he smiled, hoping that Shauran wouldn't be offended by Peter's lack of hospitality in the beginning. That was going to change now; now they were friends.
Shauran couldn't help but laugh slightly. Well, it's better to be ignored than to be teased by everyone..." He replied, smiling at the boy beside him. |
Peter laughed a little, "Personally, I think they're both equally unsatisfying." he said. He took another look around the room, then to the clock, which, much to his surprise, showed they had only been talking a little over ten minutes. There was still thirty-five minutes left in that period, and then it would be time for lunch break, for their grade, anyway. Which reminded Peter, "Assuming you don't already have prime real estate picked out in the caf, would you want to sit with me? It'll probably be just me. Suzy isn't in today." he said, a little upset his only other friend at that school was MIA. At least he had found a new, unexpected, one.
"Uh, sure... It would help me avoid all the jerks at this school from picking on me for beign a loner..." Shauran said, slightly embarrassed. "Usually I bring my lunches and find somewhere quiet to eat outside to avoid them."
"Well, you might still get picked on, for hanging out with someone like me." he said with a half smiled. Peter wasn't exactly liked by many. He was just 'one of those kids'. "Well, do you want to sit with me then?" he asked again.
"'Course! I'd enjoy having someone to sit with..." Shauran said, smiling brightly.
"Alright." Peter said. "So, I'm not sure what else to talk about.. Uhm, what's your family like? Any brothers or sisters?" he asked, trying to find out more about him.
"My parents are awesome- they let me do nearly whatever I want... And I've got one older brother." He replied, smiling still. |
"What are they like? Especially your awesome parents." Peter laughed, resting his head against a fist and his elbow on the desk.
"My brother can be a jerk at times, but he's pretty cool... He never complained when I used to tag along wth him and his friends... My parents- they're awesome. I have no curfew, and I got the entire basement to myself- sounproofed and everything They let me go where ever I want, do anything I want... Just so long as I let them know where I'm going, and when I plan on being back." |
Peter laughed, "Your parents sound a bit like mine. I don't have basement to myself, and I have a curfew, but they're pretty relaxed about everything." he responded, Does your whole family have hybrid powers?" he asked.
"No.... My mom's side are humans, my dad's side has full-demon powers..." Shauran replied.
"So just your brother is too then. And then you're half and half..." Peter clarified. His family could have been any ratio to make Shauran a hybrid, so Peter just wanted to make sure he had his info right.
"Yeah.... It's not all that glamorous a life, though... Half my family - both sides- hates me,because I'm a halfling.... And they hate my parents for fallng in love with each other." |
"Sounds horrid... But your immediate family is happy being together, right?" he asked.
"Yeah... and I'm thankful that the members of extended family who hate us, I never have to see or talk to..."
Peter nodded, "That's always a good thing, not having to see them, I mean." he agreed. He looked around the room. It was weird not seeing Suzy. Everyone else was gabbing away, and the teacher was still bent over her desk, absorbed in God knew what.
"Yeah... It's okay, I guess.... But itmns I neve get to see any of my cousns who don't care that I'm half."
"Well, I'm sure you could find a way to see the, somehow, right?" he asked.
"We talk, regularly... Fo now, that's enough. Shauran replied.
Peter nodded slightly, "Well, that's good then. That it's enough, I mean."
"Yeah...." Shauran said, looking down at hus notebook, and began doodling.
"So... anything else I should know about you?" he asked, noticing the convcersation dying down a bit.
Shauran looked back up. "Hmm.... Well, I'm really into art and writing..."
"Really?" Peter asked, "What types?" he asked.. It seemed they had a common interest, and maybe someone to discuss with. Maybe even someone who would willingly go to the art museums and stuff with him.
