A Modern Day Fairy Tale
Story
Mankind no longer sees us as reality, we are fiction. We have been humanized. Fairies, werewolves, vampires, mermaids, trolls, ogres we all have become bed time stories to children for entertainment. I remember the olden days before these buildings of steel skeletons were built, but we cope. Humans ignore us and I think we like it better this way. Welcome to our new world creatures of myth. The underground is our new territories, as well as mountainous peaks, the most dense of forests, and the deepest black pits of oceans. Enter the Valkyrie, the supernatural police force. If your out of line, they'll put you in line. You keep it up, they'll put you down. They're the ones who keep humans from finding out about us. ( If we don't get someone who wants to play as a valkyrie cause I have a feeling we'll probably need one at some point, then I'll create a profile of one. They have to be women though, just like in mythology) This story is set in a large busy city (I suppose it could be New York since it has the most underground places like subways and sewers) but if you and a few other characters want to have your part of the story take place in a different setting, PM me and we'll work it out. I don't want this to have just one place with one type of story. That gets old and then the thread dies. This will be an Epic Thread! All are welcome (as long as you know how to use spell check and can put more than one sentence with proper grammatical marks). Any type of creature is welcome and even humans. |

Nihm walked down the busy streets of her city, a cigarette hanging from her lips. Some people would look at her, see her pure black eyes, but only think they were contacts. She loved this new age where science makes everyone think that the things they use to fear didn't exist anymore. She took a whiff of the air, smelling the metals and poisons around her and smiled. She couldn't understand why she didn't mind living here surrounded by things that are slowely killing her, but heck humans do the same thing.

(ok I gotta go, Leir I'll be back tomorrow)

The boy walked with light dancer's steps, his gray eyes wandered listlessly over the streetlights. It was dawn for him, or dusk for anyone else. Now was his time. This was when he thrived. He made a quick pitstop into a grocery store, buying a nice slab of steak, the bloodiest he could find and retired in the park behind an oak tree. There he ate his first meal of the day, doing away with the blood-drained slab of meat in a trash can. Where did he have money? Jude had his ways. A small ukelele was slung on his back, and he planned to play it later on for some cash. If he picked the neighborhood right, he could make a cool $100 tonight.
He smelled cigarette smoke and his lips parted, mouth watering for one. A cigarette. Recently he'd run out, and hadn't had the peace of mind to buy any. He figured he might as well try to bum one off of whoever was smoking it. His eyes flickered a bright red for half a moment, then returned to their gray. He wandered along the streets, looking down at his beloved Chuck Taylors. They looked wet, and he knocked it up to the couple puddles he'd walked through on his little "morning" adventure. His turtleneck hid what he hated most well, and that was really the most of Jude's concerns at the moment. He didn't care for living with a Coven, like most vampires did. He kicked it freestyle. The scent of Fae blood rushed into his nostrils and he smirked, seeing her up ahead. How strange. A Fae... smoking? That was certainly unheard of. He walked up behind her, calling out. "Excuse me, Miss?" His voice was delicate, and laced with a British accent. ((Sorry. o.o;;; that's long.)) ((Aww. D: Byebye! TTYL! <3 )) |
She turned to the boy, not even bothering to glamour her eyes. She saw the way he looked at her cigarette and smiled, before reaching into her pocket to fish out her pack, holding it open for him," Don't you always feel kinda bad when you have to bum one from a complete stranger?"
(don't worry about it being long lol) |
He chuckled and closed his eyes, shrugging. "No, not terribly." He laughed and took it from her, bowing his head. "Thank you miss." He popped it in his mouth, his eyes closing as he reached into his messenger bag. He fished out a lighter and he struck it, puffing softly as the cigarette lit up. "So, you're clearly not... human. What are you, if you don't mind me asking?"
|
"Half Seelie, Half Unseelie, not accepted by either so I'm here." She looked him over and smirked," Out of the two of us your closer to being human yet not. So what are you?" She loved meeting nonhumans in the city. It still shocked her sometimes
|
"Vampire." He chided, making sure his voice was low. He knew vampires who would kill him for walking the human world. Usually they stayed underground in their coven. Only hunters were allowed on the surface. But, Jude being the troublemaker he didn't listen. Smoke from the cigarette he smoked trailed from his lips, the boy looking distant and handsome.
"So, you live here in the city?" He asked, smirking slightly. How interesting. |
a idea
can there be half-bloods al la percy jackson
|
( all I ask is you MUST know enough about actual demigods since thats what Percy was and you still have to PM your profile to me.
Also Leir, humans don't know anything about our existence yet, we might add that in later but for right now, humans are blind) |
(( Oh. Dx Sorry. Let me edit my post so it doesn't involve humans. D; I'm sorry. ))
|
She smiled and nodded to him, a wisp of smoke escaping from her lips," Yeah, neither court would accept me so I moved here to the city. The iron in the building may be poison to my body, but I love it here. You'd be surprised how many nonhumans are here. New York is a wonderful place for us to hide with subway systems and what not." She looked at him with her pure black eyes, "We even have our own bars and restaurants.
|
"Yeah, it's a real paradise." He laughed, his eyes sparkling gently. "Hiding our existance isn't as easy as yours might be. Vampires do have to feed off of the blood of humans..." He exhaled slightly, taking a long drag on the cigarette. He looked tired, like he'd just woken up. Infact, he had.
|
She was looking up at the sky then back down to him," There's a small blood clinic run by a vampire nearby. They steal from large blood banks for vampires who are new or just don't want to hunt. Don't forget the Markets as well." She smirked remembering her first time to the Markets.
|
(mreow? Anyone?)
|
He laughed happily, his eyes closing slightly. "Yes..." He rubbed his arms and shifted his legs. "Mmmm." He exhaled slowly, feeling actually a little hungry. "I suppose. I forget about those..."
|
She smiled at him," Come on I'll walk you over there if you want, not like I have anything to be afraid of, you guys can't drink Fae blood."
|
He smirked, nodding as he walked alongside the Fae. "Mmm..." He exhaled, rubbing his neck. "So, how long have you been in the city?" He took another puff of his cigarette, his lips parting a little.
|
"Hm..." She thought for a moment," I think about 20 years. I traveled around for some time from city to city but I love it here too much." She chuckled as they kept walking.

The new intern swept her hair behind her ear as she sighed. It was only an hour into her shift and she was already feeling tired. Today had been a hectic one. She had to go to the DMV renew her driver's license early in the morning because she accidentally let her old one expire. Then she had to head over to the campus via taxi cab because her car broke down. The morning traffic did not help matters and she missed her first class. After her classes were over, she had to head straight to the Rois Rouges Blood Bank if she ever wanted to beat the afternoon traffic. She looked at the clock, wishing the hands would move past 6:13 and on to 8:00, the time she would get to go home.
Although she had already worked at Rois Rouges for a month, the place still seemed eerie to her. Most of the night staff weren't much into conversation and were rather pale. She forced herself to shrug it off, reassuring herself that it was only because they were tired or were anemic. She laughed slightly at the thought. "If they needed more blood, they could always grab some from the fridges." she said to herself. An image of one of her pallid co-workers grabbing a pack of blood and drinking from it like it was juice flashed through her mind. The word vampire soon followed causing her to laugh once more. She wearily rubbed her eyes as she looked through the names on the computer before her. 'Vampires, pshaaa...You're a nut.' she thought to herself, yawning once more. She started making a new file for another rich patient when she overheard a conversation between two of the phlebotomists. "I heard another batch of new blood was brought in. But security at the other blood banks are getting tougher and tougher. If this keeps up the boss is going to have to make a deal with the Council to get blood their way. We'll be attacking humans like the rest of them." said one of them in a whispered tone. "That's not good. They'll be sending the Elites to run our place like they do every other eatery in this city. They've been known to attack even their allies if they feel they've been disrespected. Who knows if they'll leave us alone." said the other. "That's why we have to finish our research soon. Artificial blood is the only way we can live in peace. Until then, the delivery crew will just have to figure out a way around those new security measures."replied the first one. Tala didn't get to hear the rest of their strange conversation because the pair went into one of the elevators by the front doors. It was true the blood stored here came from mysterious donors, but what was this talk about attacking humans and artificial blood? She stared at the door of the elevator the phlebotomists entered, trying to think of an explanation for what she just heard. But her tired brain just couldn't process properly right now and soon she was busy editing patient files again. What a strange city this had become. |
(ok no clue what happened to the other guy..oh well)
She stopped infront of a building and nodded to the vampire," This is the place, just go inside, tell them what kind you prefer and you should get it if they have a supply." She looked the building over and noticed for once how....creepy it looked at night. |
((So sorry about my absence. With the combo of being sick and school, I've been a scatterbrain. D: ))
Jude glanced up at the building smirking as he walked towards it. This was nothing. He'd been to some pretty sceevey places in his day. He wandered inside, tapping his pale fingertips on the counter before ringing the bell. Mmm. It smelled of cinnamon inside. Nice. "Helloooo?" |
