((Well she'd be eight months pregnant so I would guess that it would be showing xD))
Alex laughed a little bit and kissed him lightly. "Well, my parents didn't want a new life if they were going to have," she paused. "A pregnant daughter." |
He nodded, her belly being what had shocked him. He let her go, taking a step back and dropping gently to his knees, running a hand along her rounded belly. "But, how did...." He looked up at her. "I thought the test was negative." He looked over his shoulder. He knew no one was home, but her being her, with his child in her belly, made him very nervous. He intended to keep his promise to her, but he never had told his parents about the 'scare', as he had thought of it.
Alex shrugged. "Well, either it was wrong or the hot tub had something to do with it." she said quietly. She sighed and set her hand on his.
He closed his eyes and frowned. "The Hot Tub." He stood, and hugged her again. "That's ok, Alex. I promised you if you had a kid, I'd support you. That hasn't changed, and I'm so glad to see you." He pulled back, putting his hands on her belly again. "I just didn't expect this was what you'd look like when you came home." He looked into her eyes, putting on a smile. "But my god, Alex, do you look beautiful like this."
Alex smiled and laughed a little bit. "I'm sure when your girlfriend is a fat-ass you think she's gorgeous." she said. "But thank you, I do see where you're coming from."
He shook his head, remembering his manners. "What am I doing, come on in, sit down, let me get you something to drink. You need to tell me everything you know about our baby." Despite his initial shock, he was now realizing this was real, and he wanted to do whatever he could to help.
Alex sat on the chair in the middle of the living room. She crossed her legs and waited for him to come back with the drinks. She took it and thanked him, waiting for him to sit down she sipped it slowly. "Well, would you like to know the...gender?" she asked nervously.
He nodded as he handed her some lemonade, then sat down in a chair next to her. "Yes, sure! Is it a boy, or a girl?"
Alex looked up and smiled. "It's a boy." she said quietly.
He smiled, and leaned over, kissing her. "That's great. Are you going to be ok with this, and are we keeping him?" He moved his chair to hers. "I promised I'd support you, and I still mean to. When is he due?"
Alex sat staring aimlessly and mindlessly off in her own world for a long time, then cam back to reality and looked at Kenshin. "Well, is it a good idea to keep a child at this age? Not that I don't want to, but it just might be hard, with me and volleyball and you and baseball, well, do you want to?" she asked. She spoke slowly and clearly, plainly out of nervousness.
He thought about it for a long moment, then shook his head. "No, I suppose it's not. Are we going to put him up for adoption, then? I wouldn't be opposed to us keeping him, but you're the one who'd have the most to do right off, so I'll let you decide." He put a hand on her knee, and squeezed it reassuringly. "I'll support you, one way or another."
Alex hugged her knees and shoved her head in them. "Well, I suppose..." she said quietly.
He slid onto her seat, then put an arm around her. "It's ok, Alex. If you don't think we can handle it, we can find someone to adopt him." He put his forehead against the side of her head. "We should do what's best for our kid, even if that's not raising him ourselves." He squeezed her shoulder, giving her a comforting smile. "I just wanted you to know that I'll help you, if we keep him."
Alex raised her head a little. "I just don't think we're ready, but for now, I'm not going to school until this is over with." she said.
He nodded. "It's fine. We've still got summer vacation going, so I'm sure you'll have the baby before the next year starts." He stood up. "where are you staying? Do you need a place? I'd be happy to have you here, if you'd like."
Alex shrugged and set her legs on the floor again. "I'm staying with my parents, who hate me now." she said as she rolled her eyes.
He smiled apologetically at her. "Sorry. I guess that's my fault." He looked around. "Offer still stands, if you want to move in here. You can share my room, or take one of the guest rooms if that's to forward of me." He sat down in the chair next to hers again.
Alex stood up and stretched, standing on her tiptoes. She stood back normally and sat on the ground. "If my parents get too horrible, it's a possibility." she said. She winked and played with the carpet.
He smiled at her, then leaned over and kissed her again. "So, tell me about your-"
He looked up as the front door opened, shocked. He hadn't expected anyone to be home. "Oh, God." He whispered, looking at her. "Honey, I'm home! Just stopping by to grab some things!" His mothers voice called as she ducked into her office, gathering some additional casework. He looked around, then at her. "What should we do?" He asked in a hushed voice. He didn't know if she wanted them to know yet or not. |
Alex panicked and ducked into a nearby coat closet. She sat on the same side as the door so she wouldn't see her if she did happen to open it. She hid in the corner and bunched up in a ball.
((Got to go to class. Be back in an hour or so.))
Carla walked into the living room as Kenshin sat on the couch, having moved the chairs back into place. "Hey, Kenny. I saw a car outside. What's up?" He looked up, realizing Alex must have driven here. "Oh, just, um, having Alex over. She's using the bathroom right now. She just came back from Florida." "Oh, that's nice." She opened the fridge and pulled out a bottle of water. "Will she be joining us for dinner?" He glanced at the closet when his mother wasn't looking, then back at her with a smile. "Don't know. I'll ask her when she comes down." Carla nodded, closing the fridge and walking over to him. "Ok, well, I just came to get some papers. I need to get back before the court comes back from it's recess. See you tonight." She kissed his forehead, then walked into the hall, grabbing her bag. "Say hi to Alex for me!" She called before closing the door. As soon as she was gone, Kenshin headed to the closet, to check on Alex. |
Alex looked up, thinking it was Carla. She let out a sigh of relief. "She's gone?"
He nodded, smiling, and asked sarcastically "So, want to join us for dinner?" He held out his hand to help her up. "Assuming, of course, you want my mother to die of a heart attack, and my father to kill me."
Alex shrugged and stood up. "Well, we have to tell them sometime, I'm eight months along, so I don't see why not right now." she said.
