He looked up from his homework, smiling. "Hey baby. I was just doing some work while you slept. Ready to go?" He stood up, stuffing his work into his backpack, which he threw over his shoulder. "Doctor said you're released and they just need you to fill out some outpatient paperwork, then I'll take you home."

Alex's grin explained her happiness. She hated the hospital, there was nothing to do but read, and watch TV. She nodded and stood up, hugging him. "Sounds good." she told him. She walked downstairs and filled out the rest of her final paperwork, then walked outside.

He nodded, walking with her. They gave her the stuff she had been brought in with, and then said goodbye. Outside, Kenshin kissed her cheek, then put his arm around her. "So, shall I take you back to your place, then?"

Alex nodded as her hair blew softly in the cold wind. "Definitely." she said, kissing his cheek.

He smiled, putting arm around her, nodding. "Alright, Alex." He walked her to his car, and got the door for her. "So, how are you feeling?"

Alex sighed and rubbed her eyes gently. "Ugly, sick, but otherwise I'm doing fine." she assured him. She hopped in his car and put her head back.

He nodded, putting on his seatbelt before driving them towards her place. "Well, I hope you'll be feeling better soon." He would have hugged her if they hadn't been in traffic.

"It'll all be over soon, and we can live our normal lives." Alex assured him. She turned the radio on so it wasn't too loud, and set her head back again.

He nodded, smiling, at took her home. As he pulled up, he looked at her window, then at her. "You want me to come inside with you?"

Alex nodded with a small grin. "For a little bit." she said. She stood up and walked inside, straight to the kitchen. She looked through her fridge, then at him. "Want anything to eat or drink?"

He nodded, turning off his car and getting out with her. He followed her in, then walked with her to the kitchen. "Sure. Dr. Pepper, if you have it." He went to the Sofa in the living room and sat down to wait for her.

Alex nodded and grabbed him a Dr. Pepper, and a water for herself. She walked in the living room, handing him the Dr. Pepper and sitting next to him. "Hola." |

He smiled, taking it from her and kissing her check as she sat next to him. "Thanks, love." He popped it open, and looked around. "How is your mother taking what your father tried to do. I know they are splitting up, but it still must be hard on her." He knew it probably wasn't an easy subject, but it seemed like something to get out of the way, and he would drop it if she didn't want to talk about it. |
Alex sighed and her smile slowly faded as she looked down at the couch, her hair falling at her face, hiding her eyes. "Well, yes, it's hard on her, and on me, but she promised me we wouldn't move again and she forgave me for getting pregnant and she'll stay by me through this. She said it was a living hell carrying me, and she wants it to be somewhat easier for me. But...my Dad has always been..."Daddy", he always gave me anything I wanted, although I didn't want much, but to see the look in his eyes and his death grip on that knife just killed me by itself," she said as a tear paraded down her face.

He reached up, frowning, and ran a finger under her eyes, wiping away the tears. "I'm sorry, Alex. Anything I can do to help, I will. I won't let anything like this happen again." He leaned forward and kissed her, then held her in his arms, gently, to reassure her.

Alex nodded, hugging him as well. "I know, you know that I trust you with anything and everything." she said. She let go of him and sipped her water, slowly and carefully, still thinking about his question.

He let go as well, sipping his drink again as he sat back, checking his watch. He didn't need to be anywhere soon, but he knew his mom would want to know she was out of the hospital.

"So how were things while I was gone?" Alex asked, trying to make conversation out of the empty void of nothingness. She smiled and looked in his eyes.

Kenshin looked up, shrugging. "Not any different. Mr. Lucas is still pauses every time he forgets what he was talking about, Ms. Kingston still has the lisp, and most of the people around the school as the same gossiping idiots they used to be." He moved closer to her, putting an arm around her.

Alex sighed, grabbing his hand that was on her shoulder. "Which is why I'm not going to school until this baby is out of my uterus. And I swear, one of these days someone's going to bring an umbrella to block her spit." she said with a small laugh.

He smiled, rubbing her belly as he laughed. "Don't worry, I'm sure he'll be out soon, and we'll get you back to school and I can get back to hitting people and getting suspended for you." He smiled, then kissed her cheek.

Alex laughed and looked at his hand on her stomach. "Beautiful isn't it?" she asked with concentration on his hand. "Ken...I...just wanted to thank you...for staying with me through this, I've heard of, even had friends who's boyfriend's left them because of pregnancy and any girl is lucky to have you standing by her..." she said quietly.

Kenshin looked up at her, then smiled, and kissed her when she finished. "I'm just happy to have a girl who's beautiful, smart, caring, and doesn't hate me for getting her pregnant." He hugged her. "I love you, Alex, I really do, more then anything else."

Alex nodded, hugging him back. "Well, like I said, you must because you stayed with me. You can't blame yourself for me being pregnant, it was my idea to go in the hot tub. I would take a bullet for you, really Ken, you name it I'll do it, if it makes you happy." Alex said, letting go of him.

He smiled, letting go as well. "I know. But there are a lot of girls out their that would say the opposite in your position. I'm just glad we've stayed so close, even when you were gone, while this is going on." He rubbed the sides of her belly as he sat with her, and smiled. "Plus, I'm glad you're taking pregnancy so well. I do want kids someday, once I can afford them, and since I'm planning on staying with you, at least you'll have some experience." He let go of her belly and picked up his soda again, taking a drink.
