Let the sun set over us and let us pray
Our lightless nights and days away
Come, you wicked, tired and cold
Join us, and never grow old.

Location: 37° 37' N 122° 23' W; San Francisco CA.
Time Period: 2012. Slight Future.

In the past months... a powerful medical company has moved in on the metropolis of San Francisco, California. It's name... Zypheria. Seemingly helping humans, Zypeheria's true meaning is known only by who are hunted by it- nonhumans.
As Zypheria's power swells, will the all important nonhuman-race be wiped from the surface of existance, or will Zypheria crumble under it's own weight?

Only time will tell.

OKAY! So then, I'll start the thing. If we need to speak OOC, we can either do it in (()) [[]] {{}} or through private message. Sound good? xD

Thread start
Luke R Anderson

It was approximately 7:36pm and he stood outside the public library. Luke let the wind ruffle his ebon black shoulder length hair and finally took off the pair of sunglasses he'd been wearing since noon. It was getting too dark for their use to be safe. With a sigh, he adjusted his coat and turned to walk down the street.

There was a cafe nearby, and he hoped to grab some hot cocoa before the long walk home. Luke didn't believe in public transportation, having been burned multiple times by the issues of mass-transit. Reaching into his keans pocket, he pulled out a small flip phone and peeked at the screen. No messages, no missed calls. He scoffed, apparently he wasn't important enough for someone to want to waste his time. "Bitches..." he murmured, grabbing the half-frozen door handle of the coffee shop. Throwing open the door, Luke practically stomped inside and stood in line.

((Sound's good! xD ))

Jude Vyllancost

Behind the counter was a lank, thin teenager, quickly dealing with the mass of customers and moving them on their way. He smiled gently at them, almost seeming anxious. All the blinds in the place were closed and the ambiance of the whole place was rather dark. He had a turtleneck on, and over that, a scarf. He looked rather cute this way.

As he finished up the last order in the mass of people, he let out a heavy sigh, his gray optics fixing on the register for a moment. It hadn't been visible before, but it was now; he had snakebites. The pericing that was growing in popularity amongst the young people of San Francisco. They were black and wrapped around his lip quite nicely. They would probably give kissing a nice little sting.

As he looked up, his eyes landed on Luke. He fought off a frown at the fact that there was another customer. He forced a cute little smile. "Hello! How can I help you today?" He smiled, the thought nagging at the back of his head. I'm going to be late, I'm going to be late... damn it. He let his eyes shift from Luke down to his bag that rested at his foot. What was he panicking about? It wasn't like he had to go anywhere... he just hated being late. Even if it was just for a poetry reading.

((There's a poetry reading tonight in the coffeeshop. <3 It's probably posted on the window somewhere, but it's pretty popular.))

Luke let his eyes meet the cashier? barista? and gave a small smile. In the faint lighting of the cafe, despite the happy tone in his voice, the other appeared somewhat nervous and agitated. Let's try to at least make his day a little better. He leaned forward on the counter, arms crossed underneath him as he gave the guy, eyes dropped to a nametag, gave Jude his total attention.

"Good evening, Jude," Luke tried to draw the name out, make it sound pleasing to the ear without coming across as a creeper. That would just be his luck... "I'd like a hot cocoa, in the biggest sized drink you can give me." He paused getting out his wallet. "And may I have some whipped cream?" Pulling out the necessary amount, Luke's gaze wandered the cafe, always returning back to Jude.

There was a large amount of occupants considering how late at night it was. Many even seemed somewhat artsy. Maybe a poetry reading? Possibly, judging by the signs on the walls, but the font for the date was too small for him to read at this distance.

Jude smiled, his eyes sparkling slightly. "Mmm... Of course. A large hot chocolate with whipped cream!" He smiled, scribbling it down on the side of the cup. "Coming right up!" He laughed, scurrying and grabbing everything as he began to make the cocoa. He looked up, seeing a woman take the mic. Diane. She hosted it every time. He bit his lip hard, sighing slightly. He'd never read his poetry for anyone... he was nervous.

He steamed the cocoa nice so it would be airy and not so heavy. He squirted some whipped cream on it, shaving some chocolate onto the top. He slid a lid ontop, handing it back to Luke, a smile on his face. His cheeks were a little flushed. Was he embarrassed? He bit his lip softly. "Here you go! Maybe you could stick around for the poetry reading tonight?" He smiled slightly.

Luke enjoyed the faint hint of a blush on Jude's cheeks, but he didn't want to scare the guy away. He grabbed his hot cocoa and took the tiniest sip. Not too hot, nor too cold. Perfect temperature for the evening. "Maybe you could stick around for the poetry reading tonight?" The dark haired teen's smile widened at sight of Jude's He resisted the urge to coo. So...adorable. It wasn't often Luke used that word to describe someone, but Jude seemed to fit it to a T.

"Sure, I'll stay." Luke studied the small crowd inside the cafe. He gave a teeny glance back over his shoulder, to study Jude further. Something was different about the guy, but what was, was uncertain. "Any room left for me to sit? I'm not sure imma gonna wanna stand the entire time."

Jude smiled, chewing on the inside of his lip. "Well, there's my seat. We could share it if you wanted..." He exhaled, hearing the poet before him finish. He sighed, knowing he was next.

"Next up, we have a newbie to our little show... Jude! Jude V! Get up herrre~!" The girl at the mic yelled, waving Jude over.
"Just take my seat for now!" He smiled, rushing onstage, still wearing his apron. A few people chuckled. "H-hi everyone." He leaned close to the mic, blushing. "I uh.... Got roped into his by my friend Xavier..." He smiled, spotting his blonde friend. The male cheered, throwing a fist up into the air. "So... H-here I go, I guess..." He closed his eyes, letting his shoulders relax as he let out a sigh. He opened up his eyes, shaking a little.

"Cold... the blanket doesn't cover my feet
and the heat
of my toes just rushes away.

Quiet... the sound blasts my ears
and pricks shallow tears
at my pale, naive eyes.

Shh... hear them sing
they say we can do
anything.

Wrap... your arms around me
tell me
there's nothing scary
here.

Whisper... sweet nothings in my ear
be completely sincere
and tell me no lies." He paused, his hands trembling as the gripped the microphone stand. "Wait... don't let them take me
Don't let them take me...
Don't let them take me!

Shh... Be quiet now
don't be so loud
they'll hear us if you're any less...

silent." He paused again, sighing. "Sorry..." He bowed his head.

((Sorry. xDDD;;; That was the worst poem ever.))

{{Seemed more like a song than a poem, in my opinion. It was alright. ;) This post might suck, I'm supposed to be listening for my turn to read Eve.}}

Luke R Anderson

Luke watched Jude make his way up to the stage, eyes twinkling at the obvious nervousness. Yep, adorable. Perfect description for the guy. Luke leaned back against the counter, ignoring Jude's chair. Sitting was no longer a priority.

He closed his eyes, letting the slight tremor of words move through him. Poetry reading? No... this was more of a song than a poem. He smirked, now all he had to worry about was how in the world to get Jude to like him? Luke couldn't afford to pout physically, so in his mind he pictured an unhappy face in his mind. That was always the problem... making sure the guys Luke liked even remotely thought in at least a bisexual way.

Though... he chuckled It is always fun to turn the straight ones curved... He was startled out of his thoughts when the poem abruptly stopped. "Sorry." Sorry? Why sorry? Part of the song-poem thing? Or was Luke's new crush disappointed in his reading. Well, we can't have that, can we?

Luke gave a whoop fitting of a college student residing in a fraternity, "Way to go Jude!" He ignored the funny looks others gave him, focusing his attention on the cafe worker. He was all that was important right now.

Jude Vyllancost

Jude's cheeks went bright red and he whimpered, clutching his apron. He gave a nervous wave, then chewed on the inside of his lip hard. He looked down, scurrying away from the microphone and the stage. There was awkward, scattered applause and he felt his cheeks going even more red.

Jude rushed off to the bathroom, covering his face. He whimpered slightly, feeling so stupid. How could he think anyone would like his poetry. The only one who seemed to like it was his last customer... and he assumed he just felt bad. He trembled, splashing some water on his face.

Luke frowned as the boy scurried off stage into the bathroom. Curling his upper lip, he placed the still warm cocoa on the counter and followed the disappointed boy to the bathroom. Glancing over the crowd, catching the eyes of some of the shocked attendees (most likely at his undignified response to the poem) he flipped them off.

He leaned against the doorjam, his knuckles rapping on the door. "Jude? Hey you okay?" Luke's nose wrinkled and he peeked inside the room. Jude appeared to be hiding behind his hands. "Hey, don't feel bad." The somewhat dignified frat boy slowly made his way over, being sure to silently close the door behind him. Luke leaned against the wall, near enough to Jude that Jude could see him, but not so much that he's invading Jude's space. "Trust me, you did better than I'd ever do. The best I can do is recite lines from a song." He shook his head faintly amused. "I could if it would make you feel better. Wanna hear horrible me?" He gave Jude a grin, hoping to cheer the guy up.

Jude trembled, still covering his face as Luke entered the room. As he looked up he bit his lip, staring right at him. Tears leaked from his eyes and he walked over to Luke, leaning against the stall next to Luke. "....Sure. I guess. It can't be as awful as mine was..." He laughed, his cute gray eyes sparkling softly.

He adjusted his shirt, exposing a small portion of his neck. It was scarred and painful looking.

Luke's grin widened and he tore his eyes from the horrible looking scar on Jude's neck. No reason to ruin the good atmosphere with his curiosity. If he and Jude managed to become friends (possibly more), he'd wait for Jude to tell the story himself. It would be too childish to try and pry it out of the depressed kid.

"Okay, so.... here's my pathetic poem.

I gaze at your form, eyes glistening
What can be done to make you smile once more
This time I must leave you at the door
Sounds echo off dank walls, shivers up my spine
You don't seem to notice them
These demons must be mine
Once again our eyes meet, moisture in my own
Maybe one day your tears will stop
But mine continue on
Please don't hate me for what I am about to do
The tears weld up but I won't stop
For I must see this through
If you don't cry for me, this shall be in vain
You can love me
I've only myself to blame
Sounds echo off dank walls, shivers up my spine
You don't seem to notice them
These demons must be mine
Once again our eyes meet, moisture in my own
Maybe one day your tears will stop
But mine continue on
You can love me
I've only myself to blame
Sounds echo off dank walls, shivers up my spine
You don't seem to notice them
These demons must be mine
Once again our eyes meet, moisture in my own
Maybe one day your tears will stop
But mine continue on
Sounds echo off dank walls, shivers up my spine
You don't seem to notice them
These demons must be mine
Once again our eyes meet, moisture in my own
Maybe one day your tears will stop
But mine continue on
Sobs come from you, the air around us listening
This time I won't leave you at the door."

He cleared his throat and looked away nervously. "Okay, so it wasn't a poem, it was a song... but that's beside the point." Luke licked his lips and glanced at the bathroom door. Maybe if they were out of the stuffy bathroom they could relax a bit more. But would Jude want to go out into the crowd? Probably not. Maybe a disguise or something... he could borrow his coat...

Jude exhaled, slowly laughing. "I liked it..." He walked to him, his lips parting. "It sounds like you really liked someone when you came up with it." Jude's scent of lemon and eucalyptus wafted to Luke's nose. Jude sighed, rubbing his arms. "Luckily I'm off now... So I can just go home. Thanks for calming me down." He smiled and there came a knock at the door.
"Judah?" He called. Xavier. His friend. "You in there bud?"
Jude blushed, nodding. "Yeah,"
"You alright brother?"
"I'm fine X... I'll talk to you later tonight, okay?"
"A'ight." He was gone as quick as he'd come and Jude glanced up at Luke, cheeks red. God... adorable.

Luke quickly glanced away, stopping himself from taking a step away. Jude was just so fricken cute, the temptation to hug him or even kiss him was really strong. Not to mention how nice he smelt, even in the public restroom. "Um.. yeah. No problem." Luke gave a nervous smile. "I can tell the poem means a lot to you, so the fact they were a bunch of assholes really ticked me off."

There was always something about people that managed to get Luke mad, and it was generally the lack of compassion in the world. Sometimes it was even just how asshattish anyone could come off as, and Luke had no problem letting everyone know what he thought about them. And that's how Luke came to the conclusion he was going to beat the shit out of someone. "If ya want," he began, trying to make it sound as non-threatening as possible. No need to scare Jude away. "I could go out there and stir up some trouble. I think it's the least anyone could do after the crap they did to you." He chuckled. "Bash some heads together, maybe spill some drinks... I know it would be hellova mess to clean up, but I think it's worth it in the end."

Jude Vyllancost

The boy instantly looked shaken and he disagreed. "No... Just... Maybe you and I could go out and get a galato? I know a place that's open pretty late?" He blushed, tugging slightly on his green apron. "Ice cream usually calms me down... and your voice seems to be helping." He said the last part almost silently, glancing back up at him. "We just have to make sure my friend Xavier doesn't see us leaving together, okay?"

He took a step forward and brushed some of his hair from his cute little face. Why? Why would Xavier have a problem with the two of them going out for gelato? Jude's shirt shifted once more, exposing that gruesome scar on his neck. He didn't seem to notice as he had the first time, and simply let it be exposed. He stared at Luke for an answer. He hoped he'd say yes.

Couldn't the human feel it? The sexual tension in the air was thick enough to cut with a knife... and Jude kept wishing in the back of his head that Luke's lips would deliever that slice.

He pouted, well the injuring people idea was thrown out the window... but... Gelato? Late at night? Was Jude asking him out on a date? The idea brought a smile to his lips. "Sounds like a plan. Gelato is always yummy." His brain flickered back to that delightfully sinful hot cocoa he left in the cafe. Well, gelato is just as good, so he'd get over it.

The fact Jude's friend (David? Alex? No wait, it started with an X... ah, who cares) couldn't see them if they were to go didn't bug Luke. Secretcy was always made things that more fun. Then Jude leaned forward and all this tension settled on his shoulders.

Sexual tension much? Holy hell it was making it difficult for Luke to breathe. Luke took a small step forward. Should he go for it? Or would it completely fuck everything up? For all he knew, Jude could just be overly friendly. And all Luke's friends (or not friends, depending who you asked) remembered that incident, so he couldn't afford to have it happen again. His gaze lowered to Jude's lips, licking his own nervously. What to do, what to do?

Jude Vyllancost

Eyes half closed, Jude leaned up slightly, his plump and kissable lips parting slowly. "Nnngh." He trembled a little and took another small step towards him. Inching closer, closer. Closer...

The scent of the human's blood rushed into Jude's nostrils and he flinched slightly, trying to fight it out of his mind. He could feed later. He opened his eyes a little; through slits and his cheeks dusted in a rosy pink. "...Nm?" He reached out, touching Luke's chest with his small, feminine fingers. God... just do it already! He screamed in his head, his black hair shifting.

Besides, if Luke didn't kiss him... it would just mean easy access to a free meal. Jude snickered and then closed his eyes tight. That side of him wasn't him... that bloodthirsty side... No.

Luke's chest tightened when Jude's fingers brushed against him. Oh man, why was this so... difficult? It was like part of Luke was telling him to get away while everything else was screaming to get closer and just kiss him.

Luke decided to listen to the screaming. It made more sense.

Hands reached up, one lightly grasping Jude's shoulder while the other went higher, brushing his knuckles on Jude's cheek slightly before cupping the back of his head. His fingers tangled slightly in the black mass and Luke leaned down, eyes half lidded. He could taste Jude's breath, the tint of lemon strong and powerful.

The college student paused, his nose brushing against Jude's. His heart was hammering away in his chest, and all he could hear was his own heartbeat. Terrified animal his mind supplied. But it made no sense. Jude was a normal guy, so why with the fear? With a deep breath, Luke closed the distance and let his chapped lips brush against Jude's It was a fairly light kiss in comparison to the other first kisses Luke had: a light brush of lips before taking Jude's bottom lip between his own and running his tongue over it.

Luke pulled away, eyes glancing toward the door. That was different.

Jude's eyes slammed shut and he felt his heart ride up into his little chest. Nnn. Yes. His small hands gripped at Luke's shirt while they shared the light kiss, panting in dissapointment as he pulled away. He stared up into Luke's eyes, eyeing the older man for a moment before he pulled away a little more. "What's wrong?" He asked, relaxing his grip on the male's shirt and smoothing out the stretched fabric.

Jude's eyes filled with that hunger again but he avoided Luke seeing it by snapping his eyes to the walltile, waiting for himself to gain control before looking back at Luke. Those thin lips of his were splayed in a small smile. Pale cheeks now took on the color of dusty pink rose petals. Perfect. Like a painting. Jude stared at him, inching his body closer once more. Perhaps he didn't need Gelato.

Luke's kisses were sweet enough~.

"What's wrong?" Good question. Luke wasn't even sure if he knew. He licked his lips again and met Jude's gaze straight on. Why was Jude so... perfect? He was sweet, and adorable, and he smelt good and he tasted good. Other than that horrible marking on his neck, there wasn't anything wrong with him. Then why was there something so wrong with this picture?

Luke let the hand in Jude's hair fall down to his shoulder, avoiding the spot on his neck. He didn't want to disturb Jude's possible sudden self-confidence if he realized Luke could see it. "I'm not sure..." He reached into his pocket and pulled out his cell. Woah, it was much later than he thought. "It's almost ten, do you want to head down to that gelato place still?" Or we can stay here and make out until we're both all hot and bothered... your choice sweetie.

Personally, Luke was hoping for the two. Head down to the gelato place, eat the wonderfully sweet treat and then make out like no tomorrow. Sounded like a great last minute date.

He smiled a little. "Well, we can go back to my place... I have some Gelato there." This innocent little date was becoming much more in little Jude's mind. He played it all out. He would be able to eat his meal in his gelato now. He could easily mix some blood into his chocolate cream all while keeping Luke's clean.

He blushed, leaning close to her. "That sounds like a good plan, yeah? I live on the higher up side of town, so it's not dangerous." He tilted his head slightly, more of the scar being exposed. It was less hideous... and more gut-wrenching. It must have hurt so bad when it happened. It almost looked like a burn scar. "My place is warm, too... and I can call you a cab when you want to go home." He bit his lip slightly.

The thought of heading back to Jude's apartment was tempting, but Luke's libido needed some kind of satisfaction now. Maybe if he could get one more kiss he'd be okay enough to go with Jude. The air was heavy with something, and Luke wasn't sure exactly what it was.

"Well, that would still require us leaving together. Any particular way you plan on getting past your friend?" That's right Luke, focus on the main points. No kissy, no make out... more important things like how in the world to get the boy out of the public restroom and where Luke wouldn't feel like he was a complete... something... He bit his bottom lip, a hand going back to run through Jude's hair. So soft.

A smirk traced his lips and he tugged his hand slightly. "I'll walk out first. There's a window... you go out through there." He paused. "I'll grab your things and meet you outside." He pulled back before Luke could say a word. Jude knew what he wanted and there was no stopping him now.

He rushed out from the bathroom, quickly tossing his apron at the counter, still acting upset. He grabbed Luke's things and left before anyone could say a word. He didn't see Xavier on the way out and he half wondered if he should go let Luke know. Nah. It wouldn't hurt.

He scuffled outside, holding Luke's still hot hot-chocolate. He wandered around back, looking at the window of the men's bathroom and tapping it with his foot.
