Shaking her head, she made a face at him and stood up. There was no way she would just rest and not help out anymore. She was determined to do as much as she possibly could in this place. Frowning at the exposed windows, she walked over to a box, and dug out a few things. She couldn't help but feel glad that a couple of the guys that brough in the boxes had replaced the windows for her while they were bringing them in. She smiled, remembering how they had said that it was the only sure way that the glass wouldn't break. After she found what she was looking for, she proceeded to put together a few curtain rods, and hang curtains on them. They were a sheer, pale yellow over a darker, chocolate brown color. As she hung them, she arranged them so that the dark brown curtains were halfway closed, and the yellow were all the way closed. Smiling once she was done, she looked at the windows that now hid the lightning. That was when she noticed her next problem. The curtains blocked their current light source. Frowning, she went back to a box, using the little light that the oil lamp gave off. It took a little longer than usual to find what she wanted, mostly because of how dark it was. With a small grunt, she yanked out a longer box. Opening it, she toyed with the pieces inside, and placed a bulb inside it. Looking around, she found a socket, and plugged it in, turning it on. Light flooded the area, and she smiled. "We really need an overhead light. And a fireplace. A fireplace would be amazing." |
Finishing up with the stairs, he made sure they were steady and safe to walk upon. Realizing that it was much lighter inside now, he thought of how he has one more thing to thank her for. Walking down stairs he glanced at the windows and smiled warmly.
She sure is making it homely here. He stopped and took in everything that was acomplished since yesterday when he collapsed on that floor. That dark damp floor now has been brightened up and cleaned. He walked over toward Rae. "Now, that we have a lamp. We could use some more lighting. maybe like a chandaleir or something. What do you think?" |
Nodding, Rae smiled and looked around the room. She couldn't help but admire the work that they had done that day. It certainly was a lot of work that they did, and there was still more to do. She sighed inwardly, a content, satified sigh. "Yea. Nothing too gaudy though. I would hate something that looked too... You know, 'Hey! Look at me!'-ish." Laughing at her own words, she made a face and looked at the ceiling. She looked around the room with that look that said that she was planning on what the room will look like finished. "I changed my mind. I have a better idea. Let's put the lamps I bought in the corners, the tables and bar top will have candles inside glass containers, and we will put in a fireplace over there to add to the lighting. That will also give us a source of heat. What do you think?" Pointing to the corners, bar top, and a bare outside wall as she spoke, Rae looked at Guma hopefully. She was afraid that she was getting too bosy, and making too many decisions without asking him what he wanted. She already had the tables and chairs, and she walked over to a table and ran one hand over it. It was a polished, finished darker maple wood. They were all bar height and round. Not like the normal, and in her opinion boring, square tables, and had bar height chairs to match the tables. The chairs were a mixture of the same dark maple, and a suede material as the coverings. |
he thought to himself for a second. He looked everywhere he mentioned. and gave it much thought.
"What would i do without you. that would look great." Then he thought of something and headed back toward the stairs. "ill be right back, i have to finish something" |
She blinked a couple of times after he left, wondering what he possibly had to do. Shaking her head, she knew that she would find out eventually. Humming to herself, she began the task of sweeping the newly polished wooden floors. She loved the lighter shade of oak the floors were, and how it contrasted nicely with the tables and chairs and bar cabinets. After she finished sweeping, she moved the tables and chairs into positions around the walls, leaving the middle of the room as open space. Then, she moved the two couches she had bought, and placed them so that they were facing each other with the blank wall on one opening, and the open room on the other. Only one couch had another wall at its back. Nodding, she called out, hoping he would hear her. "When you see the couches, I put them there because that's where I was hoping we could put the fireplace." She smiled again at the room, noting the pale yellow of the couches, and how they complimented the curtains. |
A copper hurse pulls infront of the tavern, the man inside turns off the engine and removes his seatbelt. He grabs a large shoulderbag from the passenger seat and opens the car door. As he steps out into the rain he pulls the bag over his shoulder, and looks up at the sky. "Man its really commin down" He pulls a match box out of his pocket and slides a match out. Walking to the front door of the tavern he puts the match in his mouth and puts the box away, he knocks on the door.
|
After hearing a knocking sound, he quickly worked to finish his project, figuring the knocking sound was Rae but he wasnt sure.....
|
Upon hearing the door, Rae smoothed her hair, and went to answer it. Opening it, she saw a man standing there with a bag slung over one shoulder in the pouring rain. Remembering her manners, she stepped aside to let him in. "Come in, come in. Of course, we are just finishing the downstairs, so I hope you don't mind waiting a minute or two while we get a room together." Turning around, she looked towards the staircase, and called up to him. "Guma, you might want to come down here. We have a guest." She chuckled, and stepped off to the side to wait a moment. Then realizing that the bar was still a mess, she ran over to hook up the appliances, and get the food and things put away. (( xD lawl )) |
" Oh, on my way!"
he shouted down the stairs as he finally finished and made his appearance at the bottom of the staircase. "Hello there. May we help you? Make yourself at home." Pointing towards the arranged chairs. "Welcome to our Tavern" |
The man watched her dash a way before he could say a word. He steped inside and looked around. "Um do you guy's need a hand with anything?" he said looking towards the bar and then the staircase.
|
Realizing that she had been rude, she paused at what she was doing, blushing. "Oh, I am so sorry! I didn't mean to be so rude. It was just that we just started work on the place last night, and we haven't even started up stairs yet. My name is Raeillieagh, but you can call me Rae for short. That over there is Guma. We're the owners of 'This Old Tavern.'" She chuckled to herself as she pulled the name out of nowhere. She figured it was good for now, and they could pick out a good name later. She didn't want to disclude Guma in the name picking. "If you want to help, you are more than welcome. I think at this point, we need the upstairs started on. I think that Guma was going to start that next, and I will be up as soon as I finish this down here." |
"A pleasure to meet you both, and thats quite alright" he said said with a smile. "I'm handy with a wrench if you need help with anything mechanicaly or plumbingly related" with that he set his bag down by the front door. "shall I grab my tools?"
|
"sure thing"
He said to the stranger that just walked in from the street. Eyeing the strangers bag.... "Can i offer you anything to drink?" |
"water or soda, i am not too choosy" and with that he stepped back out into the rain and walked towards his Hurse.
|
He went behind the bar and grabbed a MtN Dew for the guest. Making sure not to put it directly onto the newly placed marble, a napkin was placed under the can.
"Well, he'll see this when he gets back. And he seems trust worthy enough. oh yea." Next to the napkin and soda, he left an application for the stranger to fill out. He turned and headed back up the stairs to the second floor once again. |
Smiling, Rae watched the two talk back and forth. It was nice to have more than just them. It gave them someone else to talk to. Finishing putting the food, plates, and other things away, she smiled. "I like how it's turning out. Oh! I almost forgot." She went to yet another box, and pulled out the candles and glass votices (sp?) to put them in, and set one of each on each table, and a few on the bar top. Then going back around, she lit each one to give the room more lighting. Smiling as she lit the last candle, she looked at Guma. "It feels like home." (( I'll be back, getting off work in a few. I'll be on in like half an hour. )) |
Upon reaching the Hurse, he walked to the rear and opened the back door. He reached into the back and pulled a small toolbag from beside a doublewide Cherywood Coffin. He closed the door and walked back to the tavern, contemplating how they might react to his belongings. As he stepped back inside he looked around to find that the owners had sped off back to their renovations. He then noticed a Can of montain dew and a strip of paper at the bar."I guess this is for me" he said to himself as he walked over to the bar and set the tool bag down and picked up the can with one hand an the paper with the other.
|
After entering the room adjacent from the one he was working in earlier, he quickly realized that this room was recked and hed need a helping hand, or atleast some helping tools. He headed down stairs to see if the stranger was still outside. The stranger was at bar stareing at the application.
hmm, maybe. He may be a good guy. Hes just a lil too peculiar though. ill keep my eye on him He went back to the room and tried to figure out where to start. |
Rae smiled at him from the bar. He seemed strange to her, but then again most people were. She brushed the thought from her mind, refusing to let it bother her. She instead turned her attention towards what brought him here. "So, what brings you here anyways? Especially in the rain. We didn't even have a sign up yet." She waited patiently for an answer, walking to the back of the bar, and grabbing a large bowl, and pouring some Doritos into it. (( Nacho Cheesier of course. )) |
When he notices that it is an application, the man sets his soda down and pulls a pen from his pocket. "ok, lets see".
Name: Grave Age: 23 Race: Human Bio: Once a mechanic and inventor, His Ideas were never widely accepted by the coprperate world costing him his position as an inventor. As a mechanic he was banned from practice for making "modifications" that were not appreciated by inspectors or the dept of transportation, let alone the law. After losing credibility in these regards (in the public eye of course) he studied at a culinary academy and became a cheff, tinkering with his previous trades as a hobby ofcourse. Other: Position: Cheff He looked up from the aplication "Oh, well I was looking for work since I had just recently lost my job down the street, I saw a light through the windows and thought this might be a good opportnity...." |
After a few moments the room was starting to come together. A lil dusty and messy, but its a start. He decided to take a break and head back down stairs.
"Oh, thanks for the application. The staff sheet has already been updated. You can start on your room..if you want. Its across the hall from hers" He looks at Rae almost instantly. "Thats right, your room is all set up. Go take a look. Its the first door on the left." He said to her with a warm smile, knowing that this isnt anywhere near what shes done for him, but its atleast something. |
"Alright then I guess I will get to that here in a moment or two, I already have my own bed if the stairs are safe enought to traverse whilst carring such a thing." He sips his mountain dew.
|
She looked at him, astonished for a moment. Then, blinking a couple times, she slowly headed towards the stairs, as if waiting for him to say 'Just kidding' and start laughing. When he didn't, she started up the stairs, and up to the door to her room. She reached one hand out hesitantly, and paused for a moment. |
he watched Rae cautiously head up to her room. Wondering what shell think or if shell like it. He turned back to Grave.
"The stairs are safe." |
She finally stopped stalling, and turned the knob to the room, quietly easing the door open. She blinked for a second, as if making sure what she is seeing is real and not some illusion. |
