The boy jolted upright, forcing himself awake from a tempting but short slumber. 'Not again...', he thought. The accursed dream played through his mind as he ran his fingers through his ivory hair. A moment more in slumberland and he would have lost it, lost all control of himself, his humanity.
He got up from his luxurious bed, ignoring the pleas of his alluring, night companions to stay. Walking over to the tall windows, the king looked over the city that was his kingdom. His 'castle', a massive building of reinforced steel and concrete in the middle of the urban jungle. People were already moving about in the streets below, on their way to or from work. He sighed as he slung his shirt over his shoulder, it was time to start another day of running his country.
After taking a shower and getting dressed, Argyle headed out of his large living quarters and took the elevator down to the offices. His and most of his closest friends lived on the upper floors of the royal palace. The lower floors were the offices and guest rooms, reception halls and dining halls, royal library and kitchens. All in all, it had 101 floors, the top 31 were reserved for personal living quarters. The 15 floors below them were the government offices that weren't open to the public. They contained the strategy rooms, classified files on enemy kingdoms and criminals, and the weapons room. The 15 floors after that were the guest quarters. The 5 floors underneath were the reception halls for royal balls and special ceremonies. Another 5 floors were the business meeting rooms for the staff of the palace. Then came the public government offices that handled taxes and state affairs. These offices took up the 25 floors below the meeting rooms, the highest office floor being the throne room. The floor directly below was the royal library, followed by the kitchen and dining halls on the next floor. The ground level floor held the main entrance. There are two floors hidden underground which are the secret magic and science lab. This is where his majesty's personal scholars are looking for a way to break the king's curse.
"What is the situation on the northern border, Kraz?" the weary king asked his first knight and friend.
The dark haired boy slowly looked through the papers in his hands before answering, "Your majesty, we have managed to push back King Ororon's forces until the province of Sennia. Commander Lyan is asking for more supplies though, as fighting Ororon's undead army for six months straight has depleted almost all of their food, ammunition and medicine, as well as that of the northern towns."
"All right, send them supplies from the eastern bases and include the new weapons Professor Shani has developed. I can't wait to see the look on Ororon's face when he finds his beloved army decimated." a twisted grin crawled across Argyle's face as he thought of how Ororon had boasted that his vampire army was invincible.
Sir Kraz closely shadowed the king as he went through the restricted government offices, checking on the progress of criminal hunts and the maintenance of his small but powerful kingdom's borders. After he was through, the king made his way down to the throne room. "Did that girl Shani ask for arrive yet?" he asked his knight.
"Yes your majesty, they are bringing her to the palace as we speak." replied Kraz as he flipped through the pages of a file he brought.
"Hmm, I don't see why that mad scientist needs another assistant to help him in his lab. He could just animate another doll." said Argyle as he looked out the glass elevator and down at the limousine arriving at the bottom of the building. He wondered if that was the girl.
"Professor Shani believes Miss Varia will be able to help him in his greenhouse. The new plants he had received from Mount Darius do not seem to be doing so well. Miss Varia has the ability to heal plants, it seems." replied the knight without even looking up from the papers.
"I see. Still, I don't know why her father asked to be paid in treasures instead of money. And that one bell in particular, he seemed to prize it more than the rest of what we paid him. Well, whatever. Are her quarters ready?" asked the royal.
"Of course, your majesty." said Kraz as the elevator doors opened.
"Presenting his royal highness, King Ylla!" The announcement rang throughout the nearly empty room as the Argyle and Kraz entered it. The wolf eared teen walked towards the throne and casually sat himself down. Looking down at the blue eyed girl before him, he took in every feature before he spoke.
"So, you're the girl from the western country? Varia was it? I hope you prove yourself useful in this castle. I will not have unnecessary baggage lying around." he said with a smile, his cold voice echoing clearly. "If you turn out to be a failure as Shani's assistant, you can always work as a maid."

Milli Varia was surprised to learn the news her father had brought back from his travels. Her eyes had lit up when he told the tale though. The Kingdom's ruler had wanted her for an assistant. And she would be able to see the world outside the country called home.
On the day of her departure, the girl had packed a brown suitcase and a small blue backpack with the necessities. A few clothes, hairbrush, stuff like that. And for comfort's sake she placed the new round silver bell into a small pocket on the backpack. Milli loved her father dearly and the bell would reminder her of him.
As the scenery passed by on the ride to the castle, the young girl fell asleep. She woke once the car stopped in front of the castle. Milli stared at the tall building in front of her. The city was quite different from what she had been used to. There wasn't much foliage around. In fact everything seemed to be shades of grey and black.
"Come girl," the servant impatiently told Milli as he took the suitcase from the back," His royal highness doesn't like to wait. Besides, you'll be here a long time. Long enough to get to know the place."
Milli said not a word as she carried her backpack and followed the servant into the castle. They walked for quite a while till they both entered the throne room. Milli carefully took note of where they went. One wouldn't want to get lost in such a large castle.
As the announcement was heard throughout the room, Milli saw a young boy enter the room. She almost screamed at the sight of him. He had the ears of a dog. She held her tongue though, knowing this wouldn't be a good thing to do at the first meeting. Her eyes, gave her away though, Despite how still she might have looked.
Varia bowed, as a curtsy seemed unusual if no skirt was worn, and answered the boy's questions. "Yes, your highness. My name is Malli Varia. And I shall be as useful as my power allows me," Milli then added, "I do not think you would want me as a maid though. I tend to do no good with dust bunnies." She worried at this last statement as it was not one that was asked of her. And it might not do her to much good to speak her mind as much as when she lived in the country.
(and no, I'm not making a mistake. She believes his ears look like that of a dogs.)

[ I know :D I was thinking that she would react that way to his ears]
"Hmph. Useless as a maid huh? Well, whatever!" said the impatient king. He waved his hand and immediately one of the four guards to his left opened a door beside him. A girl, no older than Milli herself walked in. She wore a floral designed Chinese dress and walked with grace as she approached the throne.
"Yes, your majesty?" she asked with a smile but not daring to face the king.
"Lily, show Miss Varia to her quarters. Then bring her to Shani." the teen commanded.
"Right away, your majesty." The girl looked at Milli kindly and held out her hand in the direction they would go. "This way please." she said with a smile.
She led Milli out of the room through the door she had entered. After walking down the gilded halls, they turned a corner into a small lobby with elevators. "So," the girl said after pressing the up button by the elevator door, "What did you think about our city?"
The door slid open and Lily waited for the silver haired girl to enter the glass and onyx elevator before entering herself.

Milli grabbed her suitcase and followed after the girl in the Chinese dress. When they reached the elevator the girl had asked a question.
"Well, it's seems dull since there's not much greenery around, but I've never been in a city before. There must be a lot exciting things around here," she cheerfully stated as she entered the elevator when the doors had opened.
"Um, I do hope I'm not speaking out of turn, but I was wondering. Is the king always like that? Uh...I mean...well he has dog ears," she shyly asked as the doors closed on the two of them and headed up towards the guest rooms.

"Unfortunately." Lily replied with a slightly sorrowful smile, "He was cursed by three of his most powerful enemies on the eve before his marriage to Princess Cecilia of Erde. At least he managed to kill most of them, but sadly one got away and is in hiding somewhere." She fiddled with her elaborate hairpin before continuing. "Well, we're currently trying to find a way to break the curse."
The see through elevator climbed the tower quickly but Lily was already used to the speed, keeping her balance perfectly. "As for the greenery, the place this city was built on originally did not have that many plants growing. The water here was scarce before the aqueducts were built." she said, pointing out towards the gigantic stone waterways that radiated from the city's inner circle all the way towards the nearby lake on one side and over the gigantic canyon and through the mountains on the other side. "But I think you'll find the place you'll be working in quite interesting." the brown haired girl said with a grin.
Soon the elevator stopped, and the two stepped out onto the narrow hallway of the 88th floor. In the middle of the hallway that seemed to end down the left and far right of the elevator, stood a single majestic ivory door. Lily walked over to the door and held the handle while waiting for Milli to approach. "This is your home from now on." she said as she slowly opened the door.
Inside was a spacious and elegantly decorated condominium that took up the entire floor. Everything was in white and gold. The tall windows on the other side were gracefully laced with delicate chiffon and satin white curtains. The golden chandeliers where aglow with a subtle yellow light that danced upon the ceiling. The light from the windows seemed to make the ivory furniture shine as bright as day.
"This is your living room and down that way to your right is where the master bedroom is." Lily said as she motioned towards the door perpendicular to them to the far right. "Although you have a personal kitchen of your own, if you can't cook please feel free to call the head chef. That's what I always do." she said with a bashful smile. "And if you want to have the colors and furniture for your home changed, just ask me. My extension number is 15 and I live on the floor below you. Oh, and there's also a staircase on the other side of this floor," the girl pointed towards the door at the far left corner of the room on the opposite wall, "in case you don't want to use the elevator and for fire emergencies. But you don't need to worry about those so much, we have many good water mages and elementals in this building."

The blue eyed girl looked solemn at the information of the kings curse. She leaned against the wall of the elevator to help balance, as it seemed to go rather fast. She wasn't used to such machines. In her hometown the houses had one, maybe two levels. Most did have basements though. Milli listened intently to Lily's explanations with eager eyes. "I think I'll find this whole place interesting," She said as she looked over at the lake and mountains. Of no surprise, her gaze lingered the longest at the lake.
The elevator stopped and the two girls made their way to the single doorway. Milli gazed at the room in wonder as she walked through the doorway. She gently dropped her suitcase on the floor.
"This is my living room?" the silver haired girl gasped, "And...I have my own kitchen? Oh, this is more than I could possibly dream of." Milli, now so happy and content, forgot her self and gave a hug to Lilly. She quickly realized how improper she was acting and released her grasp. "Oh, I'm sorry. I'm just so surprised at all of these lavish things."
Milli quickly went to place her meager luggage in the bedroom and took out some hair-ties and placed them on her arms. Soon enough she came out ready to head to the lab. "Well, I'll not be worried to much on the colors and such, but I'm sure I'll see quite a lot of you," she smiled at Lilly. "This place is so amazing and so big, I'll probably use my spare time to explore. Should we head off so I can meet Shani?"
(I think it's cause it's a mod or a special mene character on here. No worries.)

"Oh, no problem!" Lily exclaimed after being hugged by the excited girl. "Finally someone who isn't so uptight! Most people in this building seem so tense or robotic, I usually wonder whether I should just shut down the main power supply to see if anybody would react at all. Err...not that I have or tried...", '...on purpose...' she continued in her mind as she remembered when she actually did cause a blackout by accidentally spilling a bowl of water on the main generator in the basement. She fled the scene without telling anyone, and fortunately, the mages and scientists managed to have the power up and running again in no time. "Just try to keep yourself from going too crazy in front of his majesty and Lord Kraz, especially not in front of Lady Isley. She'll most likely bite your head off for being a rude, uncouth, mannerless peasant with a lower than low upbringing, or something like that." She signed out quotation marks in the air with her fingers for the last few descriptions as she smiled.
Lily waited by the doorway as Milli walked off to the bedroom with her luggage. A few minutes later, she emerged, ready to meet the man she would work under. "Pro-professor Shani?" Lily wasn't too eager to see the head scholar again as she found him rather unnerving plus he was the only one who knew that she had caused the blackout and threatened her multiple times with revealing the secret, mostly for his amusement. "Uh, yeah. He's right this way." She led Milli back out into the hallway and towards the elevator.
Before she pressed anything however, she turned to Milli and pulled out a card from her sleeve. "Now this is a secret, alright? Since you'll be working in a special department, you won't be using the normal elevators like everyone else. You'll be given your own card which you must not lose." With that she moved the card over the area between the up and down buttons. A small blue light shone through the stone wall and the elevator door swung open. This time, the interior was not the clear glass that they had ridden in but a pitch black cylinder. "After you." the brown haired girl offered and entered the black elevator after Milli. As soon as the elevator doors closed Lily spoke in a loud, clear voice. "Floor Alpha"
For a split second the elevator was filled with light then returned to it's pitch black state. The doors opened to reveal, not the carpeted and busy floors of the offices, but a strange jungle like area. Plants seemed to be growing all over the place, some even crawling around. On the ceiling floated three large orbs, each giving off a light that helped nourish the plants. One artificial sun was glowing light blue, another yellow, and the final one pink. A few birds flew under the suns while various animal calls were heard somewhere in the depths of the green room.

The silver haired girl followed the brown haired girl back to the elevator. Milli was slightly puzzled when Lilly had pulled a card out of her sleeve. For some reason it reminded her of a trick her grandfather had taught her some time ago. Card games were a family favorite. But the moment passed when the elevator opened and a pitch black wall was shown. "This is...different," Milli stated as she entered the elevator cautiously.
When the doors closed and the elevator had made the sudden changes in light Milli blinked her eyes for the adjustments. The change had startled her and when the doors opened again the most amazing room came in her sight. When she just thought that this place couldn't get any more amazing, the castle proved her wrong again as she stepped out of the elevator. This would be her workplace. Or at least part of it. She probably wouldn't even be allowed to figure out how half of the things worked around here.
Unlike most, her gaze turned, not towards the the three suns, but towards all the plants growing and crawling around. What caught her eye first, was a red flower attached to a thin blue vine. The flower's petals were those akin to a lily, and Milli tried her best to not touch the plant. A plant unknown was a danger, there was always a change it could be poisonous. She had walked over to the plant and was so immersed with it she hadn't noticed the man come into view.
(I'm assuming your playing Shani, as it seems like you've gotten him figured out.)

[Hey white, sorry I haven't been on for the past couple of days  I didn't know I wouldn't have time to get on plus I got a bad case of indigestion. For the professor, if you want to play him you can, I sometimes get carried away with character making and all that. Sorry for being a pain :( Please feel free to place any character you want anywhere and also to make any part of the Beast's castle however you want, I don't have many details set anyway :) Again, I'm really, really sorry. I'll be posting something later today, I promise]

(No problem. I'm a very patient person. And I know how real life can get in the way. Well, I figured I'll let you play the professor since you've got him figured out. But I'll make some characters of my own at points, and I'll definitely be "discovering" a lot in the castle. I'm actually quite glad you enjoy making so many characters. :) And don't push yourself. I understand how difficult life can be at times. ^^)

[Thanks :) It's already been two days and my gut still hurts.]
"Hmm?"
A man with light purple wavy hair looked up from the research notes he held in his hands. Removing the strange pair of goggles from his face and moving the wire covered device onto his head, he squinted as he tried to make out the two figures in front of him.
"Helloooo, can I help you two ladies with anything?" he said with a smile. The goggles he wore had many lenses on them which helped him observe, in detail, minuscule objects. He wore them so often that he had damaged his eyesight. He now had to wear prescription glasses but he still loves to wear his visually deteriorating invention.
"Wah! Uh, Professor Shani!" Lily exclaimed as she hid behind Milli and used her as a shield. "This is Milli. Milli Varia, your new assistant?"
"Oh? Is that you Lily?" he asked with a grin. He took out a pair of large glasses and placed them in front of his baby blue eyes. "Ah, so this is the flora healer!" The quirky scientist grabbed both hands of the silver haired girl and pulled her towards the center of his laboratory, spinning around every once in a while. "Welcome! Welcome Miss Varia!" he said, finally stopping in front of a table with wilted golden plants and taking a bow. "Now, I know this may sound abrupt but please, could you show us your wonderful little talent?" He directed a hand towards the golden plants as some of the other lab assistants stopped what they were doing and turned to watch.
"These poor little babies are known as Dias Lalal, a rare medicinal herb from Mount Darius. It took me years to find these little hellions, they almost killed one of my trusty assistants when he got stabbed by one of their needles." Shani picked up a pair of tongs and gingerly lifted the plant by one of its deadly needles to show his guests. "I'd like to see you turn them orange again but please, be wary of the needles." he finished with a grin.

(Aw, that's no fun. I do hope you get better.)
Milli was startled at the new stranger in their midst and jumped slightly when Lilly had hid behind her. "Um, yes. I'm Milli Varia." She noticed the general cheerfulness of Professor Shani. From how Lily reacted it seemed like the two of them hadn't gotten along all that well. She did hope that the two of them could get along at least decently. She would be here for a long time, from what Milli had gathered.
The silver haired girl walked over to where the purple haired man directed. "Sure, I've never seen these plants before. So I might not be that good for the first time," she blushed when all eyes seemed to be on her. "Orange huh," she thought, "Let's see what I can do."
When Professor Shani had placed the plant back down on the table, Milli came close and looked at the plant with a serious face. She took her left and and caressed the plant gently, being careful not to touch the needles to much. "So little one, what is the matter?" she asked the Dias Lalal. As she was petting the plant a small green glow seemed to come from her hand and the plant gained a little bit more of an orange tint to it. The plants seemed to grow stronger as well. Their leaves becoming less wilted in each passing moment. She did each plant in turn and each plant grew stronger at her touch. When the girl had touched every plant on the table, each had stronger healthier leaves, and each were a light orange color. Only one plant seemed to give her trouble but this wasn't harmful in the least.
"Well, I don't think this is the exact shade of orange the plants used to be, but they need put in an area with less light," Milli told Shani, "And this last one," she pointed at the only wilting plant on the table, "I don't think you could help him. For this one you should replant the needles on it. For I believe those are where the plant carries it seeds."
Numerous lab assistants gasped at the girl's apparent abundance of knowledge. One in particular watched quietly with much interest. A brown haired man had kept his hazel eyes on this new girl. He was becoming rather jealous of the little lady, and hoped that Shani wouldn't forget his other assistants. Particularly himself, Reaviel.

"Oho! My, my, my! How splendid! Truly magnificent!" said Shani excitedly as he carefully but quickly looked over each and every one of the rejuvenated plants. "Well, you heard the lady," he said turning to his assistants and clapping his hands, "low light and needle planting. Hurry now!"
As the other lab members carefully took the plants and did as Milli instructed, the delighted professor turned to the two girls. "Tres bien mademoiselle, you're more capable than your father claimed! On behalf of the Digamma Kingdom's low key Magic and Science Research Facility, I hereby officially hire you!" Shani began clapping his hands and the other researchers who had their hands free followed suit. "Reaviel, please give our new lab assistant her pass card."
[Umm, I planned on Professor Shani being only one of two head researchers/scholars of the king's private Science and Magic Lab. I was wondering if you could make the other head researcher/scholar, someone who is like a rival to Professor Shani, either someone who dislikes Shani or who Shani dislikes :eager: If you don't feel like it then I'll just leave Professor Shani as the single leader of the secret lab :)]

(That would make excellent conflict. :))
Reaviel got up from the table he was previously at and walked over to a black desk. The man took out his card and swiped it alongside one drawer. The drawer opened up and he took out a card similar to his own. He handed the card to Miss Varia. "Here you are. Now be careful not to lose it. You only get one."
The silver haired girl took the card and pocketed it in a safe place. "Thanks," she smiled, "I'll take good care of it." She was very glad to have been able to stay at the castle. It wouldn't have been a good thing to be sent straight back home only just after her arrival.
On this note, another character had entered the room. A tall, slender lady with short red hair glared at Shani. "I suppose you expect this young girl to help you achieve the antidote before I do?" the lady haughtily said. This was the second Professor in the king's private Science and Magic Lab. Professor Olivia. Ever since the king had decided that two professor would get the job done faster, Olivia had been hired. She was smart but was overly meticulous that some things passed under her dark green eyes.
Reaviel watched the two professors with interest. He had always like Olivia more. Shani was a bit too eccentric for his tastes. And Olivia took everything in a matter-of-fact perspective. He wondered how this girl would react to the two Professors. He whispered to Lilly, seemingly forgotten in the excitement, "So who do you bet's gonna win this time?"

"I'm not sure. It might be another tie but I think Professor Olivia might win this one since she did manage to stop Professor Shani's creepy blue weed from escaping out into the rest of the building." Lily quietly replied to the brown haired assistant. "I don't see why Professor Shani loves to mutate plants like that. I know he's trying to help his majesty and all, but really! He should at least follow protocol, or tell someone before he starts a project not while he's in the final stages! I get the feeling this is gonna be another long week. How many complaints against him has Professor Olivia filed now? 50? 60?" Lily did not take her eye off the two head researchers, worried that magic might be used should they have another heated argument.
"My dear Olivia, I'm positive Miss Varia will get my research past yours in no time. With her here, my plants will always be in tip top shape and I will be able to produce an antidote that is more effective than anyone could ever imagine!" boasted the light purple haired professor with a grin. He quickly covered his ears before his slender fellow scholar could say anything more, in case the next words out of her mouth were nagging complaints. He felt that she was too bothered by details and a stickler for the rules. Her views on magic and science differed from his greatly and they usually came to odds on how to go about solving problems.

"Well of course no one could imagine it," Olivia loudly voiced her opinion, "I mean it is coming from that muddled brain of yours." She hadn't forgotten the reason she had come here in the first place and made a simple hand gesture. This hand apparently called forth something, as a shriveled blue weed appeared in her hands. "I do regret, you created this monster. But it had to be returned to you." The redhead realized Shani still wasn't listening. "Eh-hem, Professor, if you would stop acting so childish I have need of one of your assistants as mine have run over to do your bidding."
Reaviel whispered back to Lilly, "Looks light you might be wrong. And it was only 45 complaints. Not much new has been going on. This new girl though. Miss Varia, will be sure to stir up some trouble." He eyes twinkled at the possibility that Milli Varia would be able to bring himself closer to Olivia, so that he would be working under her, and not that absentminded Professor of his.

Professor Shani lifted his hands off his ears for a second, only to hear "muddled brain of yours." and covered them again. He watched as the professor produced a dried remnant of his previous brilliant idea and rolled his eyes. "So there were a few kinks I needed to work out, it was already almost perfect." He delicately picked up the wilted plant with his pointer finger and thumb and plopped it onto the table. "It seems all I need to do is change the last five sequences of the 54th gene and it should be fine." the strange professor said, to himself more than to anybody. "As for lending you an assistant, hmm..." Professor Shani looked around the lab and assessed the other researchers who were working.
"How about you?" he said, pointing to Lily.
"Me?!" the brown haired girl exclaimed.
"Oh, that's right you don't work for me." He then looked at Milli and Reaviel consideringly. "Well I'll need Miss Varia for my plants for the next couple of days...How about you Reaviel? Are you going to be busy?"

Reaviel rolled his eyes when the purple haired man had pointed at Lilly. "Absent minded as always," he though. His hazel eyes sparked at the idea of working with Olivia. "No, Professor," Reaviel said, "Not at all. Unless you have need of me?" He didn't want to show his excitement as he spoke with a serious look upon his face.
Olivia waved her hand in an impatient manner. She sighed, "Well then. I'll be going. Come, Reaviel." She ordered him, as if he were a servant or dog, and walked off without another work. Reaviel followed close behind, eager to start on the lab work.
Milli was slightly baffled with what had just happened, but she did know that it wouldn't be the last she'd see of Olivia. She looked at Lilly, "So I guess I'll be seeing you later then?" She gave a last hug, and then went over to Professor Shani, "So, what do you want me to do?"

"Good luck!" said Lily, before heading back towards the elevator.
"Right now, I'd like you to look around the lab and see if any of the plants have any problems. Since you seem to be able to ask them directly I believe you won't have need of these books." Professor Shani said as two assistants arrived carrying a small tower of botanical encyclopedias and manuscripts. "No, no, she has no need of those anymore." The two assistants groaned as they carried the books back to wherever they got them from.
Turning back to the blue eyed girl, the quirky professor continued, "Feel free to instruct the other researchers on what to do for them, if they need any water, soil, light, space, etcetera. Please be careful around the Carnivorous Rafflesia, the Spiny Capped Amanita mushrooms, the Bladed Hyophorbe by the stone pond, the Midnight Plumeria, the Burning Callistemon, the purple ones not the reds, and the Olivia Vine. It's actually officially called the Viper Kudzu, but I named it after my dear co-worker since they both can't easily let things go, hehe. All of them are medicinal but dangerous if you get too close, except for the Rafflesia. I just like having it there, plus it makes a good dead animal disposal unit." He gave a whimsical laugh as he picked up his wilted weed.
"When you're done, let's see...what time is it now?" he looked at the wristwatch on his right arm but found it in need of new batteries. "What time is it now people?" he asked the lab workers.
"9:57!" came a distant reply.
"Well, if your done by noon, you can take a lunch break." Shani said after returning his attention to Milli. "Just be back by 1:30, alright?" He turned away and started walking towards a staircase that led to the lower labs. "Take care now." he said, waving his free hand before disappearing into the stairwell.

Milli waved back shyly once the professor had already left. She had no idea what he had been talking about, as in the country she only needed to know the names of the local plants. Well, soon she'd find out all the names of the different plants in the lab. As she walked around the lab, it seemed as if the young girl had entered a world of her own. Her eyes gazed at each plant in a loving manner, like that of a mother.
Her blue eyes and noticed a silver colored plant. The leaves were that of a palm tree, except much smaller. She walked over to the plant, which was planted by a waterfall, and proceeded to "talk" to it. While the conversation, was taking place, Milli had noticed that the plant bore no flowers, and yet the leaves seemed to have a sort of flowery appearance. As if all that was needed were the leaves.
She was so immersed in the discover of this plant, that the silver haired girl had failed to notice a purple plant crawling slowly behind her. It was a Burning Callistemon. The one that the professor had warned about.

[I'll assume you're talking to the hyophorbe :) If not then I'll edit this later]
"Oh, miss, please be careful." said a young blue haired boy as he kicked the crawling plant out of the way. The branch then retracted back to the purple flowering body, seemingly returning to normal, static stance. "Try to avoid touching that palm's trunk and leaves. The leaf edges are razor sharp and it has a reflex of jutting out long bladed spines from the ground if anything touches its trunk." The short lab assistant then continued on his way towards his work station.
[Sorry for not putting more detail with the plants Professor Shani was talking about  I was kinda sleepy at the time and couldn't bear to write more. I'm sure you already figured out I used normal plants and just added something in front of the name to make it dangerous, hehe. For the hyophorbe, well you already know, it's a palm. For the amanita mushrooms (destroying angel), it's just a bigger version of the normal mushroom but with horns on top. The midnight plumeria looks like a normal plumeria but only blooms at night and releases pollen that can make someone fall into a deep sleep for days. The Callistemon (bottlebrush) is only called "Burning" because of the fiery look of the flowers, and the purple flowered one's sap is slightly toxic. I think the Viper Kudzu (kudzu vine) will be the most dangerous one, it likes to strangle things since it gets half its nutrition from decomposing prey. It's kept in cooler conditions since it grows out of control in warm temperatures. The Carnivorous Rafflesia is just a rafflesia that eats meat instead of just bugs, the smell is actually nice since it has to attract animals instead of insects. It's up to you which ones would be mobile, although the Viper Kudzu and Burning Callistemon are already moving :D]

(sure. I really had no idea what you were talking about. So I'll go with that. :) And sorry for not replying as often as I used to. Been trying to draw something and it's been taking a while. )
"Oh, thanks," Milli replied. She then continued on her business and made herself familiar with the Secret Lab. After a few hours of checking the various plants and telling a few of the workers what was needed for the plant to grow nicely, Milli politely asked what time it was. A lab assistant looked at her watch and said it was only a few minutes till noon.
Assuming she had some free time now, Milli had decided to venture off to the kitchen. She was getting hungry and was wondering how to go about getting food. She took the elevator back up to the main floors and found her way, without incident to the kitchen. The smells coming from the room was wonderful. It made the girl all the more hungry. It was quite an interesting kitchen though as it seemed to not be terribly busy despite it being lunch time.

[No problem :) I've been busy lately as well. I don't mind when anyone doesn't post right away. The real world comes first after all plus exams are near and the holidays as well  No need to pre-tell me if you'll be gone for a while either, I seem to have buried myself in more rp's than I intended, ehehe. So what are you drawing? Is it for your art shop?]
"Please your majesty, we must repair our homes before the annual floods." A man inched closer, still on his knees. The guards on either side of the king brought down their halberds to block the man from moving any closer.
King Ylla looked down at the man from his throne, considering whether he should aid him or not. He closed his eyes.
"Fine. Whatever. I'll give you the supplies you need to repair your village. But, I expect a 40% share of your harvest next year for the whole year's crop. Is that understood?" he replied, his cold voice echoing out the harshness of the interest rate.
"But-" began the middle aged man.
"Take it or leave it." interrupted the young king. He opened his tired eyes again, resuming his glare at the village leader.
"Thank you, your majesty." The man could say no more. Argyle's word was law and his village was in desperate need of repair. They weren't exactly a poor village, their land wielded more grain than the national average. The king's price for the capital's direct aid seemed steep but bearable. The capital would give more immediate help than if the village had asked a neighboring town.
After the man left, the teenage monarch got up from his throne and walked towards the exit in the back of the room.
"Kraz. I'll return in the afternoon. Take care of things for me."
"Yes your majesty." replied the solemn knight, bowing slightly towards his friend.
Argyle took the elevator back up to his quarters on the 99th floor. The girls he had slept with the night before had already left. He closed the door and leaned against it for a moment, shutting his eyes. It was tiring. Everyday was a burden now. He looked to the bed covered in dark red silken sheets. Sleep, his one enemy and desire, always taunted him. He had to refrain from sleeping too long for if he didn't, that dream would surely appear. That nightmare curse. He slowly moved out to his balcony. To the left side of it stood a small and rusted spiral staircase, the only way to reach the last two upper floors. The staircase led to another balcony. Through its glass doors lay a vast menagerie of animals, the young king's pets. Some roamed free while others remained in cages, for the protection of the other animals as well as their own. Many of these animals were mutants, the subjects of the experiments of Digamma's public research facilities. The changed beings were either failed tests or single surviving successful ones. Either way, they didn't have any place to belong to, too dangerous for the public and too different for the wild. Argyle kept them here, gave them a home. They were beasts like him, they were his brethren. He stayed in this floor for hours. Playing with his pets, feeding them, taking care of them, being with these creatures gave him peace such as what he would have if he could sleep longer than a few hours. The great white boars, the winged black tigers, and various ferocious looking big dogs lay around him, resting with him peacefully. He lay in the middle of the room and looked up at its ceiling. The floor above....the final floor.
"Please brother, don't do this!" The young princess put herself between a tall man and the boy king. Argyle could not move, he was bound by his enemies' spell.
"Cecilia, move aside. This is for our country, you know that." a gentle voice spoke, though no ounce of benevolence lay in it.
"Your whole existence was to bring Digamma's guard down so that we may approach the king without suspicion. Your duty has been fulfilled. We no longer have a use for a homunculus such as yourself."
"I will not! Even if I'm only a doll, I- I love Argyle! And he loves me!" the girl refused to move, spreading her arms out to defend her beloved.
"Cecilia! Move out of the way!" cried the 13 year old king. He struggled against the magic that held him. The boy continued to pray that the guards would come soon. Hoping for someone to save them.
The tall man with the deceptively gentle voice grabbed the princess by the arm and tossed her aside like a rag doll. She lay there, unconscious in a sea of dark amber roses.
"Cecilia!" Argyle forced his body to move with all his might, but barely advanced an inch closer to his fiance's so-called brother.
"Emperor Wren, we must hurry." said an older voice. It belonged to a man on the left of the emperor.
"Indeed we must." a woman to the right of the emperor concurred.
Wren raised his hand toward the boy's face, slowly opening his palm. A symbol in red was slowly being revealed.
"NO!!!"
The animals around him soon scattered to a safe distance. All were silent after his sudden outcry. Argyle gasped for breath as he turned over to his side. His tail curled between his legs and his hands cradled his head. He began to whimper like a beaten dog. His eyes were wide open but he feared to look. Had he changed? Had he destroyed the castle again?
He remained still, motionless. He dared not move until he was sure he wasn't surrounded by ashes or half eaten bodies. Slowly his breathing returned to normal as he realized everything around him was undamaged. That was close. Just too close. He covered his face with his hands as he returned to lying on his back. The weary king was still in shock and lay there for a few more minutes, facing the ceiling. That floor....the final floor.
After regaining his composure, King Ylla returned to his room. The sun already had an orange glow. He took a quick shower and changed his clothes. The cursed king returned to the floors below. Back to castle duties. Back to the present.

(Yep. Some deathnote fanart was requested. Finally got it done. Took forever. At least for me it did. And I'm going to assume it's night now. If not I'll change.)
Milli had gone back to the lab and finding the eccentric professor not there, she decided to wait around a bit. As the other lab assistants left and the day grew darker Milli decided it was alright for her to leave the lab. Making note to be back in the early morning hours, she went up to her room to think a bit. Once in her room, she discovered herself not quite tired enough for sleep, despite all the excitement in the day.
She took her silver bell out of her bag and decided to go explore the castle for a bit. The girl took the elevator down to the 39th floor. When the door opened, a beautiful ballroom was in front of her. A large golden chandelier was in the middle of the ceiling, which was painted in a beautiful Celtic knot design in gold and copper tones. She noticed how at times the design seemed to created animals of all kinds.
"It looks like the clouds," Milli said out loud. The silver haired girl then lay on the floor, seeing as no one was around, and looked up at the beautiful pictures, loosing track of time.
