((Awesome. Care to begin?))
|
Prince Esmund walked through the castle, slowly dragging himself to the counsel room. He wore a sleepy expression and slouched as he walk, completely taking away from his royal pose. Why do I have to get up so early? It's not like I do much in these meetings. Only time I'm even mentioned is when I get in trouble so why should I go?" he thought to himself just before going thought the doors to the counsel room.
He rubbed his eyes as he made his way to his seat. All other eyes were on him, and they carries a distinct look of disgust in them. His father on the other hand didn't care, he just sat there looking down at the table in front of him. They sure did look alike right then. "It's about time you got here Prince Esmund. We waited all this time just for you to get here," one of the adviser's said, standing up to yell his protest. "Well you didn't have to wait for me but since you did just be happy I'm here." Esmund replied, sitting down and lefting his feet on the table. "But you..." "Thats enough!" the king yelled to silence the adviser before he said anything else. "He's here so lets get this over with. You need to be here for this one my son." the king stated before sitting up. He changed entirely. His stance displayed his power and commanded respect. "Now we have some news for you." |
Nemo slipped silently into the room behind Esmund. Her footsteps made no sound on the hard marble floor. As she entered, she gave her wolf Xander a hand signal and he layed down in front of the door as it closed blocking all entrance. She took only one step into the room then sidestepped and stood to the side of the door. It was very cold in here; it was only to be expected with this many vampires gathered though. The king's shouted command startled her a bit and she jumped but never once took her eyes off of him. She didn't know what this meeting was about, but Prince Esmund wasn't the only one to be commanded to be here. The king had sent word to her also. They'd been speaking lately, mainly about her guarding his son, but nothing had been finalized. Maybe that's what this was about. Maybe he was telling his son that he would have a guardian now. Nemo rolled her shoulders and let her wings unfurl some. Keeping them tight in against her back like she did made not only her wings but shoulders ache. The feathers ruffled, creating a soft noise like fabric brushing over itself. |
The king closed his eyes and took in a breath before giving his son in intense stare. Chills run through Esmund's body. He rarely saw his father look like this and this was the first time it was directed towards him. His father's eyes were cold and unforgiving, a look Esmund would never forget till the die he dies.
"You've finished your studying haven't you?" the king asked, his voice as load as it was deep. Esmund nodded, "for about 2 years now, yes." "And still you know nothing about being king!" he roared, making everyone in the room jump. Esmund sunk in his chair as low as he could. His father was usually soft on him about the matter but his patience most have run out. See, I'm only here when I'm in trouble he thought to himself, trying to take away from the fear that was overwhelming him. "So... you can leave." the king said then stood up and walked over to the exit. "Leave? You mean the meeting's over?" Esmund asked as he sat up in his chair again. "No! Leave my kingdom!" The words left Esmund in shock and he knew he then messed up now. The king glanced at Nemo, the stare alone ordering her to follow, and walked out the room. |
Nemo nodded her head to the king and followed right on Esmund's heels as he left. With a quiet whistled command as soon as the door open, she ordered Xander to move away from the door. She let it close behind her holding it back so that it made only a tiny sound as it shut. "Your father wasn't as angry as he seemed. He's only doing this to teach you a lesson." Her soft voice broke the silence. With her fingers dug into Xander's thick fur over his shoulders, she stood straight and tall with her wings pulled in tightly once again. |
((sorry it took so long for me to post. I didn't have any internet connection for the pass few days ^ ^;))
"I already know that... but he never told me to leave. I wonder how long it will be before he lets me come back." As he walked he heard two advisers talking to each other. "Finally that spoiled ass infant is getting what he deserves. I told the king years ago to just keep trying for another son, it's about time he listened to me." thats when they noticed Esmund giving them a vengeful glare. They didn't waste any time to run down the corridor to elude Esmund's gaze. "Well if father is really doing this to me then what can I complain about. I didn't want to be king anyway. But really, how bad can it be leaving outside the castle?" Esmund said just before entering his room. |
Nemo followed him like a shadow, probably a little closer than the prince liked, but there was no way she was getting seperated from him. With as many people who wanted the king dead right now, there was a good chance that Esmund would become king whether he (or anyone else) liked it or not. She slipped into his room along with him, once again posting Xander as door watchman. She herself stood at the door and watched him. She should have been watching to see that he did nothing to harm himself. She was having trouble with that. She instead watched him move. She tried not to notice the way his muscle rippled as he moved around or the way he walked or the way his hair looked. It was much harder than it should have been to do this. Hope he doesn't catch me staring. He's much to cute for that! It'd be quite embarassing. Oh well. Nothing ever becomes of meaningless crushes. They never blossom. Or should never blossom. ((Random bit of info, Nemo is ''nothing'' or ''no one'' in Latin.)) |
It sorta made him uneasy that Nemo was so close but at less it wasn't a guy. Not long ago it was the guards following him the same way and he never did have the privacy to begin with so how could he miss it. He ended up walking into closet that was about the same size as his room.
Esmund grabbed a more casual set of clothes from his wardrobe. He wasn't big on the fancy stuff he wore to the meeting or anything else that he was forced to go too. He pulled out a silver sleeveless shirt and black baggy shorts. He wasn't really paying too much attention to his bodyguard to see what she was doing. Just as long as she stopped him from being killed he could care less. "Well I might as well take a bath before I leave my life of luxury." He threw his cloths over his shoulders and made his way to the bath room. "So do you feel like taking a bath with me?" he asked, turning his head around and winking at her as they still walked down the corridor. ((Another Random bit of info, long sleeves and pants legs was a way to show off how rich someone was in the middle ages.)) |
Nemo was absolutely shocked by the Princes words. Her eyes popped open wide and her cheeks burned nearly scarlet... Until she realized he was kidding. She bowed her head and shook it once, ever so slightly. "No. It wouldn't be appropriate." Was her formal reply. She never once said she wouldn't want to take a bath with him. Faltering in her steps for a split second Nemo gaped inwardly at herself. She was being perverted! Her! The one who was trying to earn her way back into Heaven had developed a dirty mind. All because of a prince she thought was cute. A now banished prince with just as dirty of a mind... No! She pushed her thoughts from her mind and caught back up with the prince. "It wouldn't be appropriate at all." She stated again. Inside she was laughing though. |
When they got to the bath room Esmund was smiling again. The reason for the smile was his pass at his angelic bodyguard and the cute reaction she had too it. Wouldn't be appropriate? I hope she knows all things appropriate is overrated. he thought to himself as he walked up to the pool sized bath tub, which was surrounded by naked girls.
"Well ladies, are you ready to scrub me down again?" he asked, opening his arms to wait to be undressed. All the girls had a sad look as they laid eyes on the prince. "What? Is something wrong?" he asked before a girl stood up from the tub. "Sorry Prince Esmund, you are denied all of your royal services... including royal bathing." Esmund's jaw dropped because he couldn't believe he lost all his royalties already. "But maybe outside the castle..." "That means my funds are cut already too!" he cut her off before running out of the room. The girl was left there with the same look he had not to long ago before she folded her arms and started to pout. |
Nemo looked at the girls in the bathhouse with open disgust. How disgraceful to let every man and woman look upon their body!... And how awful of Esmund to accept such treatment and... favors from them... She sighed and turned her face away and looked out the window instead. The sky was beautiful today... barely a cloud could be seen. She was smiling at it, Xander laying at her feet nearly on top of them, when Prince Esmund ran past her. Without a thought, Nemo immediately shadowed him. Her steps were so light she seemed to nearly be drifting along behind him rather than running. Xander rolled his eyes at his flighty mother and trotted along behind. When Nemo finally came completely out of her thoughts she decided to take action. She jumped into the air about a foot, still running forward. She leaned forward so that her body was nearly parallel to the ground and beat her wings powerfully once. As she did so she plummeted in front of Esmund by nearly 15ft. She turned herself in the air so that she landed on her feet facing him. With her wings still spread as wide as they would, curling nearly two feet at the ends where they hit the walls on both sides, she looked the Prince angrily in the eyes. If he continued running, he would collide with her. |
They can't... they couldn't have.... not yet, Esmund thought to himself as he ran down the hallway. He moved so fast that any door that wasn't completely closed flung open as he ran by. He didn't think at all about his body guard until she blow by him. All he saw was her red wings as she passed him but he couldn't help but notice every little thing about her as she gracefully touched ground.
He stopped just before running into her and ended up looking her right in the eyes. The worse thing about it was the fact that they were so close to one another. They were literally less then a inch away from each other. The reason it was a bad thing is because her angry eyes made him feel like a pathetic puppy. A puppy that knows a beating is coming his way. "Did I do something wrong?" Esmund asked. ((^ ^; Sorry, forgot they were red |
She looked up the short distance into his eyes, a bit startled by his closeness, but her angry expression didn't slip. She continued staring into his eyes as she drew in her blood red wings. "Yes you did something wrong! You were petty and insolent and are throwing a fit because your father took away your playthings!" She put her hands on his chest and pushed him backwards once then took a step forward and pushed him again. "Your spoiled! How am I supposed to protect you if you take off running away?!" Xander stepped in front of Nemo but rather than try to stop he looked up at Esmund and growled. He thought something was wrong with Nemo and was trying to protect her. His growling seemed to break Nemo from whatever thought path she was on. She allowed her eyes to flicker to him and then closed them. When she reopened them, she placed a hand on Xander's head and he quieted instantly, then she looked back into Esmunds eyes. "I'm sorry. It is the truth and needed to be said but shouldn't have been." She whispered to him. She knew he could hear because of his heightened senses and their closeness. "From now on, I'll only be your guardian. I'll keep my opinion to myself." She took a step back. The anger in her eyes had slipped and a cold, unfeeling look had replaced it. |
All that Nemo was telling him her heard before. He usually just ignore the comments and continue on with his life but when it came from her it hurt him deeply. He figured it was how close she was to him, so he wouldn't be able to ignore her but it's not like she was the first to get in his face and tell him off.
But even though her words did get though to him there was something inside of him that found her words insulting. Something that told him he was in the right. Something telling him "You are always superior." Then he heard the wolf growling at him. Him stared down at it and flashed his fangs to show he wasn't afraid of him. He looked up at Nemo as her expression turned cold but his expression was of anger... or what seemed to be anger. It also gave off a hint of conflicting emotions as it twitched. "Your right, it shouldn't have been," Esmund said before walking around the angel. "And just so you know... I think that 'fit' that I through was a reasonable one. If I'm being thrown out on my ass then I need something to live off of right? Now I won't have a dime." He didn't look back at her because his expression of anger was gone and was replaced with confusion. His head convinced him that he was right but his heart continued to say otherwise. |
"Your father is doing this to teach you the lesson. If you can't even survive on your own, without needing his help with anything, then how can you be expected to rule Vamporis?" The cold look was still in Nemos eyes as she turned and followed after him. Still just as close as before, her steps seemed a bit slower yet she still kept up. She hadn't liked yelling at him like that but everything she'd said was the truth. Xander was still riled up. Though Nemo now looked calm and cold, he knew better. His mom was upset and he didn't like it one bit. As the two walked, side by side, his head bumped her hand repeatedly. When she smiled down at him and pet his head he knew that she was going to be ok, but he still wasn't completely calm. He had never really liked the vampires(except the king who was kind and warm to him); they were all cold and seemingly heartless. At first, he'd thought this one was different; his mom had definetely reacted differently to him. After only a little while though, Xander realized that he was just the same and that he didn't like him either. Nemo walked along behind Esmund, her heart very heavy. She felt guilty for having said the things she did to him. With an inaudible sigh she finally spoke up. They were heading toward the outside of the palace and she needed to set some ground rules. "Your highness," She said, addressing him by his rightful title rather than as she had before, "When we leave the palace, it will be harder for me to protect you. There are many more people who want you dead out there and many more ways for them to do it. You must follow me and allow me to retrieve my things, my weapons and supplies, from my home near here." |
Esmund still didn't turn to face her because he was still having a inward struggle with himself but he nodded before silencing his own emotions. That was when he turn to face her with a cold look of his own but he avoided all eye contact with her. "I am sorry from before but that doesn't mean you weren't out of line. I hope you remember who you're work for."
He knew too well that was his father but he wasn't going to let her control him. He stepped aside to let her take the lead and began to follow her. |
"I work for your father." Nemo murmered as she brushed past him. Soon they were outside and Nemo started walking. She turned almost immediately into the woods. "I know you can keep up Your Highness, so please do. It wouldn't be good if you were to straggle, it also wouldn't be safe." She began running, nearly as fast as a vampire herself. As she ran, she easily ducked around trees and obstacles in her way. Occasionally she would jump high and beat her wings just a bit to get over tall fallen logs. Her wings flowed out behind her as she ran, keeping her perfectly balance and allowing her to run faster. They jutted out nearly 8 feet each from her back. |
((last post of tonight. I want to actually get sleep because I haven't gotten much in the pass 4 days so this will be goodnight.))
Esmund immediately did exactly what Nemo told him and kept up with her. The forest got thicker as they went further inside and it took most of his focus to dodge the steadily increasing number of branches. So to make it easy he started to hop branches until he found himself over the trees. He looked up at the oddly colored purple sky and red sun. Vampires were vulnerable to sunlight but in Vamporis the sun was never a problem. The place really proved that with a little bit of magic and technology anything could be overcome. But for Esmund, any light was bothersome. He just couldn't wait till night, especially after the day he'd been having. He continued to hop the branches as he followed Nemo to her house. |
Nemo continued running like this for a few minutes. Suddenly she stopped. Very suddenly. It would have caused any normal human to run into her at full speed but she had confidence in Esmunds abilities and coordination; she didn't believe he'd run into her. She had stopped in front of a small house. It was a small stone cottage that had probably been there for hundreds of years before she'd come there and fixed it many years ago. The outside was beautiful. It was surrounded by flowers of every type and color and, until they'd arrived, birds had been singing and there had been a deer at the feeder she'd made. They had all disappeared now of course; the animals didn't seem to like vampires. Nemo smiled at her quaint little home and allowed her wings to droop. The ends brushed the ground almost like she was wearing a long cape as she made her way inside. The door wasn't locked. Inside, there were many things that directly clashed with the outside. Beside the door was a crossbow leaning against the wall, a set of three swords, the longest a beautifully carved katana, hanging on the wall, and other weapons and war paraphernelia crowded the front room. "Come in your highness. I won't be long but you shouldn't stand out there in the open like that." She left the door open behind her as she grabbed a bag. A large one, it fit comfortably between her shoulder blades where her wings met and connected to her body. As she walked around her home, she began packing things:clothing, travelling cloak, bedding, etc... When the bag was full she set it near the door. She disappeared into a back room and shut the door behind her. Or thought she did. There was a crack in the door of about 3 inches through which it could be seen the she was changing. |
Esmund bound through the trees until the forest started to become thinner. When there was enough room he stopped jumping from branch to branch and started running again. It wasn't long after that when the angel came to a sudden stop again. To avoid running into her he jumped into the air, flipping over Nemo and landing in front of her.
"What's up with you and suddenly stopping?" he asked then watched as she approached him. He stepped aside as she entered the house. "Ok, never mind," he said just noticing the house. He followed her inside when she invited him in and started to admire all of the weapons that she had. "Where did you get all of these?" he asked as he started to make his way to the back. He looked up and saw her undress through the crack in the doorway. He became awe struck by to beauty that laid before him. Her skin was as pure of a white he ever seen and her wings that didn't seem to match her made her all the more lovely. Those blood red wings and the pure white skin was... well words couldn't describe it. And when she started to reveal more then arm and leg he did something that even surprised him. He closed his eyes and looked away. It wasn't like he hadn't seen a girl nude and in most cases he would have made a move on a girl but he was suddenly bashful. But he still did have the nerve to say, "And I thought you hated me," with a smile on his face. |
Turning quicklyafter hearing his words, wearing nothing but formfitting calf length brown shorts and a bra, Nemo clasped the shirt she'd been about to put on to her chest. She saw the crack in the door and rushed over quickly. She said nothing, merely shot a livid expression at Esmunds back that clashed with her bright red cheeks and slammed it shut. When it was shut she continued dressing. As she pulled on her shirt she winced as she forced her huge wings through the smallest holes possible in the back of the fabric. She winced and drew in a quick breath over her teeth as the shirt pulled one of her feathers. She shook her head at it and leaned down to retrieve it. When she was dressed, she took a deep breath and, carrying the feather and a nearly black, form-fitting leather jacket, she opened the door. Without talking for a moment she threw the jacket across the room; it landed on top of her bag by the door. With her hands now free, she pulled her hair up into a pony tail and let it hang loosely down her back and rest between her shoulderblades at the top of her wings. On a whim, she tucked the feather into the base of the ponytail at her skull. Finally drawing the courage to speak she moved around and began gather more weapons. "How much did you see?" She asked with dignity, ignoring his question, as she tucked knives into sheaths on a belt that was on the kitchen table. She didn't stop her work to wait for an answer and, always keeping her back turned from the prince, she made her way to the wall with the swords. Pulling down the longest one, the katana, she sheathed it and leaned it against the wall. She strapped on the belt and the katana to it. Then she turned. Now she looked completely different from the dolled up angel who'd been present at the meeting in Vamporis. She now looked like a warrior. |
Esmund kept his eyes closed until he heard the sound of the door slam. He looked at the door before letting out a content sigh but it was sorta a disappointed one too. He ended up leaning against the wall next to the door and continued to looked upon all the weapons. Even though his eyes seemed to be focused on the weapons his mind was on the body of his bodyguard. He was happy but for the lease likely reason. He, for the first time in his life, desired something he couldn't have... and he loved it. He had something to chase after and he mentally devoted himself into getting it.
He watched her as she come out of the door. He couldn't take his eyes off of her and he didn't want to. He got off the wall he was leaning on and followed her. "How much did I see? Well, truth be told not much but... I wouldn't mind seeing more." he said in a arrogant tone. When she turned around he was right in front of her. "So are you ready to go or do you want to relax a little first?" |
Keeping her anger at his tone in check, Nemo brushed past him, her shoulder brushing his roughly as she did so, and went to her bag by the door. "The sooner we leave the kingdom the better. That way your fathers enemies don't become your own." She picked up the bag and flung it at him from all the way across the room. A normal human would have buckled under the weight of the bag and been tossed across the room right along with it. She knew that this wouldn't be the case with Esmund but couldn't resist putting the extra force behind the throw. I'll let him know that I'm not some girl he can make swoon at first glance. He may want me but I'm the one thing that he can't have. "You carry that." After she'd done this, she pulled on her jacket. Shoving her wings through the small slits in the back of it too. Now she looked like some medieval knight or courtsman. Except for her figure. She was definetely a woman by her shape, a perfect hourglass. When she was finished, she ruffled her wings. The sound of her feathers readjusting themselves was a soft rustling like silk over silk. The sound made her smile. Walking briskly into the other room, leaving the door standing open wide behind her, she shoved her barefeet into knee high black boots. The sturdiest that money could buy, they were high-quality leather. A small heel and a meticulous shine made them even better. Add that to the fact that after nearly a year of wear by the exploring angel they had no noticable scratches, were nearly shiny enough to see yourself in, and were completely waterproof, this made them one of Nemo's favorite things. It was odd but she liked them a lot. After putting on her boots she walked quickly around her room throwing things into a bag, smaller than the one Esmund would be carrying, with straps that made it like a small modern backpack. Clothing, mainly, she threw in a few changes of clothes and socks then added other things: a hair brush, a few tightly wrapped bars of soap, and after digging around for it in her dresser, a comfortingly heavy bag of gold pieces went into the bag. Pulling the drawstring tight on top she swung the bag onto her back, being careful to arrange it neatly between her wings. Finally she came back out into the front room. Turning in a small circle just outside the door to her bedroom Nemo took in her small home. It had been hers for nearly the whole time she'd been on earth and she was quite attached to the two room cottage. A lump formed in her throat and tears sprang painfully to her eyes. Her tears were odd, a pale pink color like blood diluted in water. Though they filled her eyes to the brim, none of the tears spilled down her cheeks. |
