Shaun looked into her eyes. "I have always had a thing for you, but I always thought that you were buiness first. It wasn't until the mission in the desert when you were so down on yourself that I saw your sensitive side for the first time."

She looked away from him, thinking about the day. She rolled onto her back, hearing the crinkling from her back pocket. She reached underneath her pulling the letter out. "It was hard acting any other way with no one there." She told him opening the letter. Pulling out a colorful piece of paper. "Oh yeah" She told herself reading the first line before closing it back up. Ava then told Shaun."Just the military wishing me a happy birthday."

"Well happy birthday. Im sorry I couldn't ge you a gift, but this is short notice" Shaun said with a smile. "Tell you what. You just ask for something, anything, and I'l do it for you, ok?"

Ava laughed a bit. "Today isn't my birthday. I just had to give them a date on the application to join. Today is the day I first signed up" Ava explained to him.

"Aw, details, details. Let do something special for you. You deserve it."

She turned back to him. "Something special like what?"

Shuan leaned over and kissed Ava. "Anything you desire" He said with a smile.

"I have all I need" Ava told him. cuddling into him a bit.

Ava laid back. Falling asleep almost instantly. In the safety of Shaun's arms. His alarm clock was the next thing to wake her up. "Do we have to get up?.." Ava muttered, keeping her eyes closed and even pulling the sheets up a bit more over her. |
Shaun turned off the alarm. "Yeah, wehave to head back to the main base today." Shaun got up and gave Ava a quick kiss before heading for the showers.

Ava groaned playfully as he turned the lights on the shower. She got up herself and got dressed in the extra clothes she had taken. Ava then did her hair and read a bit as Shaun was in the shower.

Shaun got dressed. "I'll meet you by helicarrier and the mechs. I think its est if we arrive sepratley to avoid suspision."

Ava nodded and gave him another kiss. "I just slept in again. The men have heard me complaining over the past days" Ava said getting her excuse ready. She waited a while after Shaun left. Throwing a few of her things into her small travel bag. She did not own much. Ava did not need to. She left his room. Heading straight for the docking bay.

Shaun arrived at his mech and got in the cockpit. He made sure Ava arrived and got in hers. He saluted the captain as the helicarrier took off and headed for the main base.

On the way back to base, Ava day dreamed a bit. Thinking her commander. Her day dreaming though, soon lead to her trying to sleep. Ava felt a bit uneasy though. The closer they got to the base.

The helicarrier landed at the base. as Shaun was gettingout of his mech, an empire bomber flew overhead, dropping canisters that let out a green smoke. "Ava, get back in your cockpit!" shaun shouted. He shut the door but it was too late, some of the green smoke had gotten inside.

Ava closed her doors and watched the green smoke fill the room. poison.. Ava thought to herself as the techs ran outside. Ava turned hearing Shaun scream. Quickly she turned the radio on. "Sir! Are you-" She stopped seeing the green smoke in his cockpit. Her eyes widened a bit, "Shaun, your breather!" She told him. Seeing his body react to the toxin already.

"Ava...ava...I-I lov.." Shaun passed out. Medics emidittly arrived and opend up his cockpit. They rushed him to med room and put him in quarentine. A medic approached Ava. "Keep your mask on. it's not a poison, but some sort of bio-chemical agent. We need to get you to the showers now!"

She watched in horror as he fainted. The medic them radioed her. Ava nodded reaching behind her and putting her mask on before stepping out. They grabbed her immediately and brought her down to the showers. They scrubbed her pink, making sure they got off whatever the chemical was. Even going so far as to cut her hair very short. Giving her a long boy's cut. A person in a white hazard suit approached her. Looking her over. He then told her they were burning everything she had in her bag. They would replace it eventually. All the while she worried about how Shaun was doing. No matter how many times she asked, they refused to tell her. Only ask questions themselves.

A medic finally approched Ava with some answers. "It seems to be some sort of bio-chemical that altrs human DNA. This must be empire's retaliation for you mission in the antartic. Commander Worthington should live, but whats going to happen to him we don't know. You can see him, just stay behind the glass." The medic took Ava to a plexiglass room were Shaun was laying in the center, an onyx-colored substance growing on his body. Shaun woke up and looked over at Ava. "Hey, nice haircut" he said with a weak laugh.

Before Shaun woke up. Ava started to ask more questions. Not many people knew, but Ava when first brought into the military was a field medic. She did more of the background work. Being able to control a mech was just a fluke, and what she is more known for. "Has his skin been examined?" She asked him, watching Shaun start to stir. She reached up and touched her hair. Not really even caring anymore. "How are you feeling?" Ava asked him from behind the glass. There seemed to be an intercom going through the room.

Shaun looked up at Ava. "Weak. and cold. I'm just glad your ok" he said with a smile.
The medic answerd Ava's questions."We have examined the skin, and the onyx stuff appears to be growing. almost like a cacoon around a catapillar." |
"I am guessing you have no idea what it will do?" Ava asked calmly. Hoping they would not be using Shaun as a Ginnie Pig to find out. She pushed down on the intercom again. Unsure of what to say at first. "Is.. Is there anything you would like Sir?" She finally asked him.

"Yeah, some aspirin. I have akiller headach" Shaun said. The medic turned back to Ava. "There is a chance to save him. We need to give him a blood transfusion. That, along with a blast of radiation, will force this chemical out of his body. Commander wothington's blood type is 0+, he can only have 0+ blood."
