It’s the year 2413.

The world is dying,

Some forests turned to deserts, and some cities have burned to the ground, Many animals have become extinct, and those left have evolved to survive the harsh environment.

Most of the human race has died off, those that have survived have been exposed to immense amounts of radiation. Some of them mutating from it, some have become the undead, some have had this tap into the inner workings of their minds and unlocked powers the humans had hidden deep within them, some have managed to stay away from the radiation in untouched land each place now known to survivors as a Shangri-La. These places have become a haven to those who are still mostly human, but they are a hell to those who do not seem human anymore.

Now people have many goals, many people have a goal to make it through this alive and see the dawn of a new world, many that are out in the wastelands seek out Shangri-La, some want to just eat you, and others only want to seek acceptance for what they have become. The times are very hard right now for those out in the wastelands you must do all you can to survive and make it to Shangri-La, the only way to cross the oceans now is by ship but at a very high cost. To cross the lands there are a handful of people who still have working vehicles but charge double what their fuel cost is.

People have taken on many roles in this new land, some have become hunters just surviving off the land, some mercenaries trying to rid the planet of zombies, others are weak and seek out protection from others often these people become the “bait” for hunters and mercenaries, some have become thieves stealing anything they can to survive, and many have taken on the tasks that a society needs to thrive becoming healers, builders, or scientists anything to help their world thrive again, This is the apocalypse. Can you survive?

The different areas of this world:

Shangri-La’s:

Ataxia: A small crumbling city previously known as Norilsk, Russia, Overrun by thieves, punks, and mutants, whoever is the strongest and most cunning leads the city until the next person claims their spot.
Danger to outsiders: Extremely high
Danger to mutants: Low

Shariki: a dense forested area previously known as South Lake Tahoe. This is a thickly forested area now run by a clan of druids who use their unique gifts to help their Shangri-la. Using natural methods of survival and herbs for healing they thrive off of nature. they welcome outsiders into their land but keep a close watch.
Danger to outsiders: Low
Danger to mutants: Low

DC: A well intact city previously know as Washington DC, this being a strong outpost for government has now become a well protected fortress with many soldiers helping to keep order, they have kept the old ways and keep to a governed system.
Danger to outsiders: Medium
Danger to mutants: Extremely high

Axiom: A beautiful haven once known as Bethlehem, They use religion to keep order and give hope, they have accepted all types here and have many leaders for the various religion, they also employ mercenaries to help protect their cities and cast out mutants

Oceiana: on the coast of the Pacific Ocean previously known as Fort Brag. Run by a band of pirates it is a good place to get booze, cheap entertainment, and company for the night if you are willing to pay for it. Oceiana is a small enough town that power hungry mutants overlook it. The town is mostly used for a resting area for people passing through to the bigger cities in the south.
Danger to outsiders: High
Danger to mutants: Medium

LA: the city of the Angels. The once large city is now in ruins, however its population is still large and growing. LA is a good place to go if you are looking for weapons. Most of the city is run by mutants, but there are parts that are closed off because zombies and other horrid creatures stalk the streets.

Danger to mutants: Extremely high

Name: Kaen Morgan's

Background: It was raining. Kaen remembers this because he watched rain drops wash blood from his hands that day. He couldn’t remember if it was cold rain, if it was day or night. He remembers his mother’s screams as the mutants dragged her away. His sister yelling for him to come find her. And the blood. His fathers blood.

Kaen has spent the past several years traveling in search of his family. He owns a silver locket with a picture of his mother and older sister in it. He isn’t sure where he will find them, or if he will at all. He continues his search in hopes they are still alive.

Age: 23

Race: human with slight mutations

Weapons: two modified 45’s with two different kind of bullets.
1: Mercury tipped bullets used for killing zombie’s and vampires.
2: Silver coated bullets that shatter metal fragments when they hit a target causing more internal damage then just the bullet alone.

Specials powers: he can influence the bullets he shoots. He’s able to curve the bullets, accelerate their speed and distance.

Name: Niika Hallows
Gender: Female
Age: 22
Role in this world: Mercenary
Background: The year 2409 Niika Hallows was your average girl working at a small bakery five days a week in a small town known as South Lake Tahoe. She didn’t watch the news so while the world was slowly slipping into chaos she didn’t realize it until her boss had shown her the front page of the newspaper, in a panic she quickly took off and started driving to her parents house to see if they were alright, upon her arrival the house was quiet she yelled for them but no answer, distraught she started trying to contact her relatives, but the ones she got a hold of had no idea where they were. Niika headed back home with her spirits down and started preparing for the worst.

One year later 2410 Niika has been affected slightly by the radiation now getting quick flashes of the future, she carries around a small notebook to jot down notes of what she sees, Her hometown is now in ruins and is being consumed by trees, thick roots, moss, and animals. she has given up hope searching for anyone and now is training herself to fight against the dangers of the wastelands, her house barricaded, her only company is her dog who is slowly being affected by the radiation. She does not bother to go outside were there is a small group of people still around trying to survive.

Three years later 2413 her hometown has become known as Shariki to the survivors that have found their way or were already there, she now is able to survive in the wastelands fighting whatever dangers may come her way by sword and fist, her dog now a more evolved form fights by her side, she wanders the land looking for work and seeking out other Shangri-las. She went to Oceiana one day and gambled with the odds against her but came out with an offroad armored motorcycle that helps her get around the land. Her dog either runs along side her as she roams. She often pays a visit to her old home and helps the druids of the land.

Name: Ellayia Sky

Background: Ellayia woke suddenly. She was confused and sore all over. Where was she? She sat up, looking around. She was in a forest. There was no one around her. She called out for someone but there was no reply. How had she ended up here? Where was she supposed to be? She couldn’t remember anything.

Ellayia is a young girl Kaen came across two winters ago. She is a half vampire which means she needs to consume blood to stay alive. However, she is in complete control over herself unless she is badly injured or is starving for blood. She is also highly tolerant to pain and fatigue. As well as natural elements such as cold and heat.

Age: ? Appears to be 12-15

Race: half human half vampire

Weapons: retractable blades attached to each wrist

Special powers: able to see and communicate with the dead.

Name: Lumi
Gender: Female
Age: 5
Role in this world: A faithful companion
Background: Born into this world and given to an abusive family and taken to an animal shelter this dog started out very afraid, but then niika came along and gave her a warm loving home, lumi is now very loyal to niika, and after evolving from the radiation finds herself to be a very brave dog and protects her master

Name: Riko Katake

Background: Riko stood in front of her father as he raced around the house packing things. Riko’s father told her to stay in the basement until he came and got her. She listened. Down the stairs she went. Alone and afraid. She waited there for hours. Well into the next day she waited. He’d be back for her. He was obviously trying to find a safe place for them to go and then he’d come back for her. He had to. He had to come back. Only a coward would leave his only daughter during an attack. Only a coward would leave her to die and save himself. Only a coward would do this to her.

Riko has spent the past three years working at a pub in Oceiana. She has befriended powerful pirates and in return has been trained in sword play and gun fighting. She is strong willed and hates when people show weakness. It reminds her of her father. She hopes to someday run into him and kill him for leaving her to die out of his own cowardice.

Age: 21

Race: Human with slight mutations

Weapons: she carries a 10mm pistol, a long sword, and a variety or knifes stashed all over the place

Special powers: Riko’s powers are simply that she is more in tune with the human mind than most. She can sense strong emotions so strongly she can see them. Peoples emotions give off a sort of haze around the person. She can see the different colors the hazes give off.

Name: Aiden Daniels
Gender: Male
Age: 24
Role in this world: Soldier
Background: In the year 2409 he was leading a dull life traveling with a renaissance fair performing as a knight he had no idea this would help him in the grim future to come. As soon as the news had started to spread of an imminent doom upon the world the fair he was travelling with was getting no business and people working there soon spread word of what was happening, the whole fair scattered and started heading back to their homes, Aiden got in his truck and started his long trip back to his home were his family was in Washington DC, a day later he had arrived and met up with his family

Four years later in 2413 Washington has become a stronghold Aiden and his family have a home within this Shangri-la known as DC, Aiden used the four years since 2409 to enlist in training to become a soldier for the city, He often goes on missions to the wastelands as patrolling the inner city was too boring for him.

“What are ya having hun?” Riko asked as a young boy slid into a bar stool. He looked very out of place. He was nervous and too clean cut to be in a town like this one. His eyes darted around the bar as Riko looked him up and down. He was probably seventeen or eighteen at the oldest. He didn’t have any pirate markings and his clothes weren’t that of a travelers. Riko wondered momentarily what his name was before turning her attention back to listening for his answer.
“Something strong,” he said without looking at Riko. She was used to having costumers that were strange. She poured the boy a strong liquor and set it on the bar.
“There ya go hun.”
“Thanks,” he said, again without looking up at Riko.
Riko shook her head and busied herself with wiping down the bar with a damp rag.
“This places sure attracts some strange visitors,” Riko thought to herself.


Kaen sat with his back against a tree. They were getting close to the coast now. He could tell by the salt in the air.
“I’ve never been to the ocean before, I’m so excited!” Ellayia said suddenly.
“It’s quite a sight to see,” Kaen said. He looked over at Ellayia and smiled slightly. She was bouncing up and down as she sat on a large rock next to Kaen.
“We wont be there until tomorrow at the earliest. You need to keep your energy for traveling Ellayia.”
“I know I can’t help it though,” Ellayia said with a grin. Her excitement was clear as she continued to fidget on the rock. Kaen let out a small chuckle as he watched his companion. She definitely helped lighten his mood on his journey.

Niika walked down the dusty path looking to each building as she passed by, finaly spotting her destination Niika pushed open the doors to the first bar she came across and walked up to the counter, small amounts of blood were splattered on her skin and clothes. she tiredly sat down and slumped over the bar.
"Could I get a double vodka?" she said it with a dry intake of breath, Niika looked around the room and took note of all the people just in case trouble arose the last time she didnt watch her back in Oceiana she took a knife to it.
"and some rum for my dog" she added after looking back to the bar

Lumi sauntered into the bar as niika was asking for the rum and sat next to the bar stool her head reaching a little above the bar, she stared at riko for a minute and then started panting and layed her head down on the bar.

"These zombies were too easy this time guys!" Aiden yelled out to his comrades as he ran through a group of zombies, after he broke through the group they all dropped to the ground.
"When are we going to have another mutant bear attack? now that was fun" he added in as he sheathed his sword.
"Aiden you need to just slow down and enjoy life!" one of his senior officers replied as he patted aidens shoulder "Lets head back in then" the officer directed the group of soldiers and they piled into their vehicles and sped off towards DC.

“Comin’ right up hun,” Riko said as she set to work on making the drinks. She noted the girl looked familiar, but it was never a good idea to just accuse someone of knowing them. that’s how you ended up in an alley with your throat slit and all your possessions stolen. Riko set the drink in front of Niika and set a round bowl filled halfway full of rum next to Lumi.
“You’re one big puppy,” Riko said with a faint smile at the large dog. Riko turned her attention back to Niika. Yes she definitely had met her before. But where?
“Travelin hun? Are ya going to the city?”


“I think its best if we make camp soon for the night. It’ll be too dangerous to travel after dark,” Kaen said. He glanced over at Ellayia who was staring off in a daze.
“Ellayia?”
“I’m so hungry,” she said quietly. Kaen eye’s widened. How long had it been she fed? How could he have forgotten to make sure she had eaten.
“Ellayia…”
Ellayia turned her gaze to Kaen. Her eyes were blank and her face was pale. She was definitely hungry.
“Ellayia calm down. We just need to find you something small to eat. I saw rabbit tracks a ways back. Lets go look for it?”
“I’m so tired of eating road kill,” she said quietly. However, she did not resist when Kaen took her by the arm and gently pulled her forward.
“I know. I’m sorry,” he said as he lead her back toward the tracks.

"Kind of just working, im heading back to DC to return a bounty..." Niika said as she gulped down half her drink. she looked over at lumi and patted her on the head then looked back to riko.

Lumi lapped up the rum and kept eyeing riko, she finished the drink and pushed the bowl away with her nose, she stared at riko and then barked

"hush lumi. Dont mind my asking but do I know you from somewhere?" Niika asked as she held the hilt of her sword while asking and cocked her head to the side a bit.

Aiden walked into the base and tossed his equipment into his locker and slammed it shut.
"report in the morning soldier" his senior officer barked at him and left, aiden waved his hands around and mockingly rolled his eyes
"of course we report every morning" He mumbled and walked out of the room and slowly walked down the road toward his home.

“I was kinda thinkin’ the same thing. Ya look real familiar.” Riko eyed the young boy sitting down at the bar as he shifted uncomfortably and glanced at Niika.
“Names Riko.” she looked back at the boy. His mood must have just changed. He was nervous and a little scared before but now his aura was changing into pure adrenaline and a little anger. That wasn’t good.


Kaen stopped when he saw the rabbit tracks in the mud. He released his hold on Ellayia and took a step back from her.
“There’s the tracks. Do you need help hunting it?”
“No, I want to do it alone,” Ellayia said as she bent down to examine the tracks.
“I’ll be back soon,” she said before taking off in a blur of color. She could smell the rabbit near by. Heart beating away and blood flowing through veins. It was enough to make her mouth water.

"Riko.... riko katake? my god its you isnt it! niika hallows if you remember me" niika says with a smile "I never thought I would run into anyone I knew from the old days"

Lumi looks over at the boy and lets out a low growl and the hair on her back raises slightly.

"Lumi whats wrong with you?" Niika says as she scratches behind lumis ear and looks around the bar with her hand still on the hilt of her sword. "nothing seems out of the ordinary..."

Aiden came upon his home and walked into the house smelling a wonderful aroma of food coming from the kitchen and his stomach growling violently he headed into the kitchen and sat at the table waiting patiently.
"smells wonderful mother" he sighed out, all of a sudden he was attacked by his little sister with a foam sword
"Take that i got you big brother!" She squeeled out and then ran away. Aiden chuckled and sat back in his chair.

“Oh God! Niika I haven’t seen ya in years! How have ya been?” pours Niika another drink and slides it across the bar to her.
“That ones on me,” she says giving Niika a wink.
“Hun ya need another one?” Riko turned to the boy and asked. He nodded his head, eying Niika once again. His aura was fluctuating a lot. Riko glanced down at her gun that was holstered to her belt before pouring another shot for the boy.
“Here ya are hun,” she said. He nodded his thanks keeping his head bent so he could yet again avoid looking at her. Riko returned her attention back to Niika before leaning against the bar.
“So tell me some stories, yeah? What have ya been doin’ all these years?”




Kaen glanced around nervously as he waited for Ellayia. He knew she would be alright, even if she ran into trouble she was plenty capable of taking care of herself. Kaen heard movement come from beside him. He drew his gun and watched for more movement. A low growl came from behind him. He turned quickly, but it was too late, it had sprung into attack.





Ellayia sat under a tree. Her catch was laying limp and dead at her side. She wiped blood from her mouth and stood up. She sighed and rubbed her belly in satisfaction. She really shouldn’t starve herself so much. She threw her arms up over her head in a stretch as she made her way back to Kaen.

"ah stories I have too many of those now. I just have been wandering the lands alot im pretty much a mercenary now I go back to Shariki alot though I still have a home over there... well whats left of it after the forest took over anyway, you remember Lumi right?" She says nodding her head at lumi.
"so what about you? I bet you get alot of action in this town?" Niika questions as she holds up the drink in a thank you motion and takes a sip

Lumi wags her tail at riko and gets up, putting her front feet onto the bar and panting

"Aiden why cant you patrol the city instead? its so dangerous outside" aidens mother asked with a sigh.
"the danger is part of the fun and you know I can handle it, plus it pays more" Aiden replied as his mother set the food out on the table
"I just worry about you dear... Moria! its dinner come on!" His mother yelled through the house and you could hear feet thumping against the hardwood floors toward the kitchen, moria ran into the kitchen and hopped onto the chair next to aiden.

Riko looks at Lumi in surprise, “Lumi!? Ya got so big! Ya used to be such a little doggie!” Riko gently pats lumi on the head.
“I haven’t been back to Shariki in such a long time. Once the forest took over I headed this way and haven’t really been back since.” Riko turned her attention to a rugged looking man that sat down at the bar.
“Whiskey!” he yelled to her.
“One sec, yeah?” Riko quickly pours the mans drink and slides it down the bar towards him.
“This place has its moments that’s for sure,” she said to Niika as the man grumbles and takes his shot.
“that’s why I don’t go no where without this,” Riko patted the gun on her side.


Kaen struggled to pull himself away from the vicious and snarling creature on top of him. He managed to roll over and pulled his legs up so he could wedge them between himself and the creature. He wasn’t sure what it was, just that it was big and it wanted to eat him. He reached for his guns but a sharp pain in his shoulder stopped him. The damn thing bit him! He let out a loud yell, a mixture of pain and frustration. This thing was dead. He would make sure of that.



Ellayia paused momentarily. She thought she heard Kaen yelling. Her eyes darted around her, she could have sworn she heard him. She shook her head and continued fighting her way through the trees toward Kaen. She must be hearing things again.

"Cant go anywhere without a weapon thankfully I have Lumi with me in case anything happens to my sword and im pretty good with these" Niika holds up her fists "alot of druids in shariki now its become a pretty peaceful place aside from the occasional creatures romping through...." Niika pauses and her eyes haze over for a second a glimpse of people groaning on the floor and running out of the bar flashes before her. "...it" She looks around nervously "thats not good" she mumbles out and pulls out her notebook and quickly writes it down and wonders to herself how long it will be.

Lumi perks up her ears and gets off the bar and stands ready by Niikas side scoping out the room and sniffing the air

"what did you do today Moria" aiden asks his little sister before he takes a bite of his food.
"I went to the park and there were some kittys there and we all played with them!" she replied with a mouth full of food "and then I played with Jessica at her house we played monsters and I won!!" she swallowed her food and excitedly bounced in her chair.

Riko watched Niika with a raised brow, “Err…?”
The boy at the bar shifted again. His emotions were out of whack. She couldn’t tell what he was feeling it changed so constantly.
“That’s odd,” she said more to herself than to anyone else. He slowly raised his head, his eyes focused on Riko. Their eyes locked. Riko watched the emotion change just as quickly in his eyes. He was sad at first, and then scared, and finally his eyes dulled as the emotion drained away from them. His face went expressionless and he just sat there staring at Riko. She was trapped in his gaze. Why was he trying to conceal his emotions


Kaen brought his elbow down on the creatures head as hard as he could. The creature snarled and snapped at him, narrowly missing his arm. He would not let this beast make a meal out of him. He grabbed the creature around the neck and it tossed its large head around almost throwing Kaen’s arms off. He used all his strength to hold tight to the creature. An ear splitting scream came from the beast suddenly. The creature squirmed and turned and kaen released his hold. The creature jumped off a Kaen and turned to face what had injured it.


Ellayia stood and watched as the massive mutated animal thrashed its long tail. Her blades were out of their sheaths. She looked down at her right blade, the creatures blood was dripping from the razor edge.
“Here kitty kitty,” she said with a smirk. The creature growled and crouched down to the ground. It pounced suddenly and Ellayia ran toward it.


Kaen forced himself to his feet. His shirt was ripped and his shoulder was bleeding profusely. He turned his attention to mutant creature as it snarled and fought with his comrade. With his uninjured arm he pulled one of his guns from their holsters. He lifted the gun barrel up and pointed it at the creature.
“Die.”

Niika shaked her head slowly
"sorry about that" she followed rikos gaze to the boy, she noticed he had been acting very strangely the whole time and pondered for a second on wether she should say something to him or not, not really sure how he would react, but what could this boy really do
"hey boy whats your deal?" she asked her cocky side coming out she doesnt always ask for trouble but this bar had been bothering her since her vision and she was egging on her vision seeing if it was going to happen soon.

Lumi attent to Niika took a step towards the boy standing at the ready and kept her eyes on him

"That sounds like fun" Aiden patted his sister on the head and then stood up from his chair, he walked over to the sink with his plate in hand and rinsed it off. "thanks for dinner, i'll be back in a while" he waved to his mom and smiled at his little sister and then headed outside once again. he walked down the road to a house 2 blocks away and knocked on the door, a very tall strong bald man came to the door and looked down at aiden and then turned away and walked back into his house, moments later he returned with a sword in hand and smirked.
"Alright we gonna go stomp some creatures?" the tall man asked
"of course what else do we do on a clear night like this!? lets get going!" Aiden replied enthusiastically and headed towards the outer gates of the city

The boy turned his cold stare to Niika. “I’m here to rid this world of filth like you,” he said through gritted teeth.
Riko reached for her gun. The boy mirrored her movements and drew out a silver handled pistol. He fired one shot at Riko hitting her in side before turning the gun barrel at Niika.
“Mutant scum, let your bones turn to dust and your spirit sink into the lowest pits of Hell,” he said before pulling the trigger.


Kaen lowered his pistol slowly as the massive creature fell over. He hit the target, as usually.
“Kaen are you alright?” Ellayia said as she rushed over to her injured friend. He nodded and returned his gun to his side. His shoulder was in pretty bad conditions from the looks of all the blood.
“It’s a good thing I just ate,” Ellayia said jokingly as she started to examine Kaen’s shoulder.
“That stupid bastard attacked me from behind. Ouch! Don’t touch it!”
“Stop whining and let me look at it!” Ellayia snapped. Kaen winced at Ellayia’s touch but let her look over his wound.

Niika dodged to the side falling from the barstool and hitting the ground hard the bullet had scraped against her neck, she quickly jumped up and drew her sword holding it vertical in front of her ready for the next bullet.
"You little punk your the scum in this day and age you think you can come to a town like this and not expect to die? i'll drag you hog-tied back to DC with the bounty I caught today and let them have a little fun with you" she said with a piercing glare

Lumi darts towards the boy and bites down on his ankle then jumps back to avoid getting shot.

The two soldiers waved at the night patrol to let them out, the massive gates spread open and they walked out into the barren wastelands their sword and gun at the ready
"so Im gonna win this time and you will have to pay for the next round of drinks" The tall soldier said to aiden.
"I dont think so I beat you last time and im going to win again!" Aiden laughed and ran out towards a forested area of the wastelands the tall soldier close behind him.
