Thanatos laughed. The pleading women looked frozen up with fear. But when he spoke, his voice was gentle and yet threatening. "You can see your children again, I must simply have your agreement." He said and held out a hand. The woman hesitated, tear tracks in the dirt on her face, but took his hand, and with a dying scream she vanished. He sighed. He was late, and he knew it. He disappeared into darkness and reappeared next to his dear counterpart. "Hello, Stygian." He whispered in her left ear, soft as a lover's kiss. "Been watching and making them fear you, yet again?" He asked softly. In his pocket was pretty little vial. It contained the souls that he had collected. Sometimes they sung him to his sleep, filled with anguished screams and calling voices.
Thanatos snapped out of his thing and smiled. It wasn't unpleasant but it sent chills running down anyone's spine. His dark eyes were always the last thing that people saw, and he had his ways of killing. "The Children are on the move." He whispered in his velvety voice. "They fear attack. I can smell it." He said finally and stood next to his counterpart and watched the darkness. |
Stygian felt death staring her down. Sending chills down her spine. She loved the sensation. Always so invigorating. He came from behind her and whispered in her ear. In a way most women would dream over. Darkness drew in a deep breath. The dark substance around her seemed to rise and fall as she drew in breaths. "I do not even need to lift a finger most of the time. They just walk past and get a sense of fear. It feels wonderful" Stygian spoke back in carefully chosen words. She did not turn to face him, but kept watching the couple from before. They were now across the street. Keeping their distance. "Beautiful, is it not?" she laughed a bit to herself.
"Two were gathering food just some time ago. Right from the convenience store across the way." Stygian told him, finally standing and turning to Thanatos. She brushed a hand down his cheek hearing the singing from his pocket. "Sounds as if you have been busy yourself" Helped pack the food up in a small bundle. Taking another look, he wished they had taken more. The supplies now would feed them all for a good few days. Vesper carried the heavy stuff in his bag and pockets. Maybe this place Ade had mentioned was better for finding certain items. He shrugged and got ready to leave. Bundling himself up. it was getting colder again. |
A smile spread on Death's pale face. "The very essence of our lives. Fear." He chuckled and felt Stygian's soft hand on his face. The smile vanished. "Since the Sun has been gone I have a physical shape. Not just a being of myths, that travels through the fear. I have a body. And I'm not planning on losing it." He snarled. He nodded and the harshness disappeared. "One even pleaded with me." He said softly and pulled the vial out, looking at the little blue orbs that wavered around inside.
"What do we do now?" Thanatos asked. "If the humans harm the Children, our days of striding this Earth will be over." He was serious. "I would do anything to stay here." He said, implying what he was thinking yet again. It was almost too clear, but he didn't want to leave Stygian. Even though they couldn't die, the darkness was comfort for him. Elidi smiled at her siblings. "Now, let us get moving." She pulled the makeshift bag over her shoulder and began the long and painful march to the next sanctury, with her in the lead and the little ones in the middle. The energy she wasn't using by walking was used to shine brightly and warmly. She stopped and turned round. "Right, those that can make light of any shape or form, conjour it. I see darkness ahead, and I do not want to encounter it without light." She said softly yet firmly. The wind blew her long hair this way and that, and it was getting harder to keep it out of the way. |
Kin looked up at his sister in surprise before nodding. Though he did not want to admit it, he too could feel the darkness up ahead. Constantly making him want to turn and run. Instead though, he shook his head a little before holding out both hands, cuppping them in front of him. Breathing onto the curved palms, he smiled brightly as a cheerful flame crackled into life upon them. It was a comforting light. Closing his eyes, he breathed out again. When he opened his eyes once more, he saw the flames had grown larger. Perfect.
Well, if a human came by and saw them, then, maybe not so perfect. But that couldn't be helped, and he would rather face darkness with some warmth and light than give it up for appearances amidst the humans. "Is this big enough Elidi? It tickles my arms." He chuckled softly to himself, smiling faintly despite knowing what was near. |
Adelaide
Adelaide walked beside Elidi. She was glad for her sister's warm glow. Adelaide could feel the oppressive darkness pushing down on her, making her feel suffocated. She walked closer to Elidi. "It's just a short walk this way," Adelaide spoke as she picked her steps over the ground. She smiled back at Kin and the flames lapping over his skin. |
Louis sighed and took little Doni into his arms. Looking up to his siblings, he made his way to his feet and followed them obediently. He wasn't too happy about moving again, he liked this place, as dirty as it was. But he didnt complain and stroked the cat lovingly as he followed Elidi.
Moving forward with his siblings, he shivered and huddled closer still to the heart of their group. He didnt like the feeling of where they were headed, but he kept his mouth shut for once. His brain screamed to stay put but it yelled even more to keep close to his brothers. Shivering again he took Shay's hand into his own and shoved his feelings away best he could. |
Shay smiled at Louis when he took his hand. "dont worry, nothing is going to happen." he said and continued to walk with the group. He knew that if anything would happen his feeling would get out of control and he would start to blow up stuff. But hopefully he would only blow up who was attacking them and not his family. He didn't want to hurt anyone he just wasn't the best at control his explotions so they tended to happen where ever they felt like.

Stygian listened to him speak. She always listened to Thanatos. Maybe not follow him preciously, but she did listen. He was worried about the children winning this everlasting battle. Stygian could feel his worry. The darkness around danced a bit, but calmed as he did. "We will not loose it. The children have no idea what they are doing. Some even ran from the camp earlier. Turned to ice as they felt me." Stygian told Thanatos. She closed her eyes into a small slit. Just able to see as he pulled the vial out. Stygian reached up to touch it. Filling the small space with a hint of fear for the souls. It made her feel alive from the tiny whimpers. "They behave as humans. Normal fears should suffice. They are moving as we speak. I can see it from here. All clinging to the brightest of them all." She updated him a bit. She shivered a bit while opening her eyes back up, peering into Thanatos's eyes.

Aria snapped her fingers and the cheerful sound echoed around them, seemingly bouncing out into the darkness. A small flickering white light appeared above her index finger and she grinned. She stayed a few steps behind Elidi keeping a close eye on her light source, frightened if it would somehow go out, if she somehow grew afraid. She didn't like this feeling of moving once more. To look for another home.
Aria warily glanced right and left of her. She stumbled ahead with her siblings, smiling to herself, but she still could not shake the feeling of their being.....hunted. Her eyebrows furrowed, wonderingly. They truthfully couldn't be the only things out here. "I don't fancy the feeling in my gut, Elidi." She whispered to her sister, leaning forward a bit to protect their conversation from their siblings. "Something.....the Darkness maybe, they're watching us, aren't they?" |
Thanatos chuckled ever so softly. He stared into her eyes, and remembered back. Her eyes were the first thing he had seen when he was pulled into this reality. He felt the fear of the souls and savoured it. "We shall approach them. Aim for the bright one. She can give us answers." He whispered softly, even though he was feeling apprehensive about approaching the light. "We should leave the others. That way we can feed on the despair." He whispered softly, and ran a slender hand through his honey coloured hair. "We can call on the darkness, my sweet Stygian." He said to her, his eyes glowing with the excitement of the plan. "And when the brightest one is gone, they will hold on to each other and fear us."
Elidi nodded at Aria. She turned to face her siblings. "Stay close to me. Pay no mind to what waits in the dark. Vashta Nerada, or them, it doesn't matter." She said. And her mind went back to the creatures in the shadows. The swarms. "Now, let us hurry, a wind is on its way and it may stop us. I want to get to the next place before it hits us! Gather round me, and we shall walk together, united as one." She said clearly, and waited until they had gathered round her, and then she continued walking onwards. She worked hard to keep her light shining bright, but she knew that something bad was on its way and they had best be prepared for when it arrived. |
Stygian narrowed her eyes again. Watching the children move. Her eyes started to swirl as she fed off their fear. Even the light one had a hint of the emotion inside of her. The darkness grew around Stygian. Staying with the children, but still her physical form stayed in front of Thanatos. She opened her eyes again. The blackness in them swirled as they always did. "Now would not be wise to attack. They are on their guard. Gathering around the bright one. Later tonight. It is a New Moon." Stygian smiled at the thought of the hours approaching. She looked up into his eyes. Seeing the same look he had always given her when thinking about his first minutes alive and breathing. "They will arrive at the place in just under the hour. I think I will pull back for now. Just to allow them to relax. I will take you to them later Dear Thanatos." She told him. Pulling her dark eyes from the children. Most of the time the children did not seem to know she was around. "I wish to corrupt the cold one also. He already holds some darkness in him..."
Vesper stayed back behind everyone. He wanted to be sure he was the last to leave any area. But it also gave him an idea of where every body was. Though by now he was starting to get worn down. The extra weight of the food did that to him. He listened to Elidi, asking everyone to move closer. Vesper stayed in his spot. Knowing if he did get closer, he could possible scare one of his siblings from his cold. He stayed close to them though. Hugging himself from under the coat. Down his back he could feel the eyes of darkness watching them. Half of him wanted to yell to that witch. Ordering her and her friend to leave them all be. Still, Vesper could not even utter the words. The feeling disappeared though. Only leaving behind the light from Elidi. Which only seemed to get brighter and brighter. |
Aria felt the familiar emotion of Vesper farthest behind their troop, and she felt the need to hand back, to talk to him. She carefully rested her palm on Elidi's shoulder. "Hey, I'm going further back in the group, you know, to keep an eye on things, okay?" Without waiting for a response, Aria calmly allowed her siblings to breeze past her. In seconds she was side-by-side with Vesper.
"Are you alright?" Aria asked, lifting her hands above her, stretching. She paced along side him, wondering if her company did anything to comfort him. She hoped. "Can I, ya' know, help at all?" She gestured with her free hand, palm open, reminding him of her ability. |
Thanatos nodded slightly. "Corruption grows when hope is taken from them. Hope. Heh, shall we dub the bright one Hope? And the cold one... well, let him freeze and shiver and fear us. Then when he is ready, we take him too." He whispered in Stygian's ear, playing with her soft hair. He watched a warmish one go to the cold one, and Hope leading the group. "We strike when they are near camp. It'll shock them." He suddenly decided.
Elidi watched the group, but the problem was that she didn't have six eyes. She was grateful when Aria offered to go back and make sure everything was alright at the back. But she felt vunerable and cold without that extra warmth. She shivered slightly and marched on, her thin arms wrapped around her body to strengthen her. Little plants grew where her bare feet hit the ground and withered when they left the earth. It was bitterly cold and she had a feeling that something terrible was going to happen. |
Stygian nodded to the death in front of her. The cops had arrived at the convenience store. The girl inside must have finally noticed most of her food was gone. The police only left though, mostly since the girl probably did not have an accurate description of the pair from earlier. Thanatos's finger's still ran though her hair. Death always did seem interested in her. Though she never knew completely why. "Just a while longer now Darling. They were not even half way before..." She whispered back to him.

Arinna opened her eyes and saw a light. It took a second before her moment of bliss died and she realized that the light wasn't the sun. It also wasn't just one light. She stared out the window of her apartment on the edge of town at the group of moving lights. She wondered if they were people trying to get to town. They seemed to be moving away from town, but why would anyone risk going out into the darkness? She knew she wouldn't be able to see them once she left to find them so she tried to remember where they were and where they were going because she wouldn't have the advantage of watching them from an attic while she tried to find them.
She put on a jacket and grabbed two flashlights, putting one in her pocket. She ran down the stairs and around the back of the house she shared with three others, though one of them had gone missing after the sun died. She used the flashlight to guide her as she ran towards the group. She wanted to help them but she also wanted to get out of the darkness and back to her well-lit home as soon as possible. |
