"Ceri, that is completely out of the question! We would not just leave you behind to deal with her on your own... You might need us, and, although I cant speak for all of us," she glanced at Kiryn, "some of us count you as a friend. No, we will not run away. Now this panther, is it likely it will attack again? Or is it more likely that it will just bring your mother? We need to know so that we can begin to prepare... And it might be a good thing for now if other demons show up. Now we at least know to expect them, and I can practice with this Blade. You said that the blade lures them to their death... so they come only to be killed? That sounds simple enough. So I think all we need to do is just prepare for the inevitable and work together. We will at least be stonger that way. Does anyone think this plan is completely insane?" Kay hoped she had understood enough of this world to make a decent arguement for her plan... there was still so much here she needed to learn, but running was not going to teach her anything.

Kry 01-27-2010 04:36 AM

Kiryn had remained silent for awhile. Glancing to Kay. Of course he wouldn't run, those violet eyes narrowed a bit. "Making pacts with demons is a crime. There is no way I could run away from something like that." His body tensed slightly and he looked at Ceri.

"Forgive me, but I am bound by law to destroy your mother." Besides, running was for cowards and Kiryn was no coward. His fingers ran along the pommel of his sword lightly, his wings twitching. He had a feeling that Ceri really didn't like her mother though it seemed almost obvious to him. He frowned a bit

Staria 01-27-2010 04:42 AM

As they spoke Ceri stood rock still a moment before punching the wall suddenly with annoyance…and worry. She was not interested in protecting her mother…she’d kill herself if she could, but she knew even with Kiryn and her combined magical power it would have been difficult and with that mark her mother could make her almost useless.

“You idiots…. Of course it’s a crime, but you honestly think you can do anything against her? She is the strongest magic user alive at this point in time, and is backed by hell‘s power ontop of it. I don’t give a damn which of you call me your friend but you are not going to die because I would not obey my mother’s will…..” She said it simply, nearly seething…but with a look of more sorrow then anger in her eyes. She’d stayed away so long to keep her mother away from underhill, to protect Lyre and the rest ….the idea of them dying anyway…she could not stay silent under.

Kry 01-27-2010 04:57 AM

Kiryn flinched softly when Ceri hit the wall. Frowning a bit. Then he moved towards her, coming up behind her and wrapping his strong arms around her. Pinning her own arms to her side, but he wasn't restraining her, not really. He rested his chin on the top of her head and closed his eyes. "I may be an idiot, but I will not leave you to face such a horrible creature on your own, even if it were not my duty, there is no way I could leave anyone to such a fate." His voice was soft, gentle and intense. "I will not abandon you, I will not run away. I avow my sword to your well being. I will give my life to protect you and anyone else if I must."

He opened his eyes, violet orbs full of emotion. "I am sorry I was so harsh with you. I was at fault, I should not have acted in such a way." He kept his arms around her, but his grip, though strong was still loose. He would let her pull away from him if she so wished it.

Staria 01-27-2010 05:06 AM

Ceri took a few deep breaths, calming himself when she felt him come up behind her. She half expected another attack and for a moment her fingernails flashed slightly but then she heard his words. For a moment she simply curled her hands into fists, resisting the urge to shrug him off as was her habit. She had never received much physical affection so it caused a strange feeling of panic, but comfort too.

Shaking her head she pulled free gently, standing a foot or so away from him and rubbing her arm as she frowned. “What good would that do for you to die… Kay needs you more then I do…worry for her, not me.” She turned towards him then, putting her hands on her hips. She eyed him now in confusion, uncertain. He hated her moments before, what now? Was this pity? What was this…”You are a strange man….” She remarked now, confused.

Kry 01-27-2010 05:16 AM

"I'm not strange..I'm compassionate and passionate and easy to anger and often very frustrated. I act on my emotions but my intentions are good, usually.." He frowned slightly and looked away, looking at Kay. "I do worry for her. I worry for her just as much as I worry for you." He had lowered his arms when Ceri pulled away from him.

"If I die in battle, then I die. As long as I am protecting someone or something that I deem worthy of my protection then I have no regrets. No remorse."

Staria 01-27-2010 05:21 AM

Worthy of your protection? I’m a vile witch not to be trusted remember?” Ceri responded with half a smile, a dark smirk as always. With that she sighed and turned to glance at the kitchen, inwardly going through her options. Deciding she shook her head, walking towards the kitchen. “ I’m getting something to eat..” She mumbled and retreated to the kitchen, looking through the cabinets as if looking for something in particular.

Kry 01-27-2010 05:25 AM

He had flinched slightly at those words. Words that he probably never should have said. His gaze had lowered a bit. "But I never said you weren't worthy of my protection." Then he looked up, as she moved into the kitchen. He followed her. "I want to help." He stood in the kitchen doorway watching her, leaning against the door frame. "It would help us all if you could tell us about any weakness your mother might have. There has to be something that could drain her magic even if for only a few moments."

Staria 01-27-2010 05:31 AM

She heard the whisper but ignored it, having expected it to shame him a little and hoping it would keep him back… it didn’t. She frowned as she heard him, turning to look at him from her crouched position peaking from under a counter. “I have an idea but it probably won’t work… so when you and kay die it’s your fault not mine…” She mumbled, flushing a little. Did he really have to be so confusing?

She turned towards the counter again as she began to gather ingredients, mumbling half to him and half to herself “And make up your damn mind, You either want to help me or you want to hurt me…” She sighed, shaking her head and mumbling to herself “Men…”

Kry 01-27-2010 05:37 AM

"I won't let Kay die, nor will I let you die." He had frowned just slightly, his brow furrowing a bit. So, she had an idea..that was good, right. Even if she didn't think it would work. A step was taken back as he flinched just slightly, looking away again. "I wasn't...I wasn't really going to hurt you...I was just..trying to intimadate the answers I wanted from you...I am sorry. I act on my emotions too much sometimes." He looked at her, his eyes honest and shinning from the powerful emotion of sincerity. "I was frustrated, I let that demon escape and I took my anger out on you, but I truly would not have harmed you at all."

Staria 01-27-2010 05:43 AM

Right… excuse me if I still don’t trust that… You can’t even refer to me by name. I’m the witch, just like I’ve always been and always will be to you court types.” Ceri mumbled in response, standing slowly as she gathered the ingredients. She sat a pot to boil then and tossed in a few herbs, mumbling a few words to infuse them with magical energy… but this was just step one. She then picked up a piece of fruit, walking to the wall across from the stove. She leaned back against it, nibbling her fruit as she gazed at the water. For a moment she looked less angry or defensive and more just….tired.

Kry 01-27-2010 05:53 AM

He shook his head. "Court types." He scoffed lightly. "I only refer to my friends by name, it helps to keep others at a distance, to keep from getting to emotionally attached to them. There are many many members of the court that I refuse to refer to by name. So don't flatter yourself thinking your the only person who has a name I don't use, there are many many others, but..I do like you a bit more than I like them."

He watched her a bit curiously. "Besides..I'd prefer a witch over any court type any day. They're stuffy and obnoxious." He wrinkled his nose a bit. "You should get some rest."

Staria 01-27-2010 05:59 AM

She merely rolled her eyes at his words, smirking at the last. It took all she had not to make an easy jab from him saying stuffy and obnoxious. She shook her head then at the last sentence, walking to the boiling pot as she nibbled her fruit a bit. “Can’t rest yet… and oh my, what flattery. I rank above court types, am I blushing?” She said sarcastically, still staring into the water. She sighed, wishing it’d boil already…

Kry 01-27-2010 06:10 AM

He chewed his bottom lip a bit, watching her as she moved to the pot of water. "I.." Kiryn floundered. Apparently, he wasn't really sure what to say to her comment. He shifted a bit on his feet and then looked at the pot. "A watched pot doesn't boil so easily." Well...it was the only thing he could think of to say.

Staria 01-27-2010 06:20 AM

“It simply boils in its own time… whether I watch it or not doesn’t make any difference…” She replied with a tired tone. She then perched on the counter, looking over at him a moment as she bit her apple thoughtfully. “Look… you feel a duty to try and protect people, fine, I get it… You don’t have to pretend to be my friend, just go sit down or something…”

With that she made a shooing motion with her hand, turning to begin chopping a small amount of one of her ingredients. She was looking at them instead of him now… focused purely on the ingredients. She sighed, not really liking her last step… with her blood maybe….maybe…it could ensure that it would pass any barriers her mother had...

Kry 01-27-2010 06:26 AM

"It's just an expression.." He mumbled softly, then shrugged his eyes never leaving her, even when she told him to go on and stop pretending. For a moment he looked hurt. Genuinely hurt. Shaking his head slightly. "I'm not pretending anything. I don't pretend, pretending is nearly the same as lying and I don't lie either." He frowned, his brow creasing a bit. He didn't move from his place in the doorway.

Staria 01-27-2010 06:30 AM

“Not pretending? Humph… name one thing about me you like friend.” she responded with a dark chuckle putting down the knife a moment. Ceri then leaned on her hand and put her elbow on her knee as her eyes went to him. She frowned a little at the hurt in his eyes but simply tilted her head to the side. He could not answer this, so even if he was lying to himself at least maybe the charade would stop….

Kry 01-27-2010 06:38 AM

It only took a few seconds for those long legs to bring him the short distance to Ceri, and then those hands moved, grabbing her by the waist gently and pulling her against him. He held her tight against his chest. An arm going around her waist so his hand resting on her back, his other arm went around her head, pressing the side of it to his chest, the center of his chest so she could easily here his heartbeat, that hand moved through her hair so gently.

He held her so she coudn't easily pull away from him. "You may be a witch, but your soul is pure and your spirit is a kind one. You hide yourself behind a rough exterior because you think it'll keep people away from you, and if people stay away from you, they won't get hurt when something bad happens. How..How can I not like someone who protects? We are the same in wanting to protect, though the way we do things and our reasons differ, and you are lonely. You need friends, but try not to allow yourself to have them. How can I ignore you when your spirit calls out for it so strongly?" He paused for a moment and then smiled. "Though, most of all. I like your eyes." He pulled back from her a little, moving that hand that held her head to gently cup her chin and force her to look up at him so he could stare at her eyes for a moment.

His own violet orbs were completely honest and completely sincere.

Staria 01-27-2010 06:47 AM

Ceri gasped slightly at the sudden closeness, leaning back a little bit out of surprise. Not that it did much good as she ended up pulled against his chest and he ran a hand through her. She flushed, nearly hissing a moment in sheer shock at the maneuver as she inwardly cursed herself for letting her guard down. Just what game was he playing?

His words, however, seemed as soft and sincere as the stroking of her hair. This was ridiculous…he couldn’t ….he wouldn’t…on what planet did this make any sense. She stayed silent a moment, unable to think of anything to say for the first time in her life. What did he want.

She only shook off her rattled emotions a moment as he cupped her chin, reaching up a hand to take his wrist in her hand. Her eyes were mistrusting, almost hurt as she looked into those violet orbs. Biting her lip she finally whispered almost meekly “what do you want from me…?” Confusion in her tone. He was supposed to hate her…not …not touch her like that…

Kry 01-27-2010 06:53 AM

When Ceri took his wrist in her hand, his other hand moved to her face. Carressing her cheek softly as he continued to stare in her eyes. A light smile was on his lips at her question and he shook his head slowly. "I don't want anything from you..really..Nothing that you wouldn't want to give freely." He stroked her cheek lightly with his thumb. "Ceri...I only want you to trust me..to believe in me and allow me to help you...Let me be your friend.." Still the only thing in his eyes was sincerity and honesty.

Staria 01-27-2010 06:57 AM

She shivered a little at the stroking, a sharp contrast to what she was use to when someone…namely her mother… had touched her cheek. Closing her eyes she took a breath, trying to focus herself as she pulled back her tight control of herself. Biting her lip she looked at the ground, startled as he used her name for the first time…

Finally she answered slowly, “fine..fine… Just… I need to finish this potion.” She muttered it and looked down at the water trying to boil, uncertain and not fully trusting…. But she doubted shouting at him would do any good. She had to think…and she couldn’t do that so well with him touching her face like that.

Kry 01-27-2010 07:14 AM

He nodded. "Alright then." He leaned forward a bit and kissed her forehead softly before he lowered his hands and pulled away from her. "I'll let you finish that potion.." He turned from her and moved towards the doorway. "I'll check up on Kay." Hopefully the human was resting and saving her strength for the battle that was almost certain to come..though when..he was uncertain about.

Staria 01-27-2010 07:19 AM

Ceri flushed faintly at the kiss of her forehead, frowning a moment in confusion. "Good idea..." she mumbled uncertainly. He has her by the throat one minute and kisses her face the next, even someone with a more cuddly past then she would be understandably confused. Pushing off the counter as he went to the doorway she looked down, noting that it had finally began to boil. She added the remaining ingredients, nodding in satisfaction as it turned a strange shade of green. Taking up the knife she then cut across her palm in one quick slice, squeezing her hand into a fist so it dripped blood rapidly down into the potion and it began to turn blue…

When Kiryn and Ceri had gone to the kitchen, Kay had assumed it was for food. She had gotten up to follow them, and it had taken her a few moments to get steady on her feet. When she had gotten to the kitchen door and had seen the tender scene taking place, she did not want to interupt. In fact, she wanted to be somewhere else quite quickly. She had gone outside, and she was sitting in the clearing in front of lyres house watching the sun come up. People here are even worse that those at home. First Ceri's kissing me, then Kiryn's holding me telling me not to cry or worry... And now Im left out in the cold.... I dont understand them at all..... And now I have the only blade that can truely kill a demon? How am I ever supposed to get on in this world? She flopped back into the grass to stare up at the sky, exasperated and confused with everything, including herself. Now that this blade was a part of her, she felt like she didnt even recognize herself anymore.

((I wont be back on until later this evening, I am pulling another double at work :) ))

Kry 01-27-2010 06:15 PM

He had left the kitchen with a last glance over his shoulder at Ceri. Kiryn left the kitchen mostly because Ceri needed to finish the potion and he didn't seem to be doing anything but distracting her and making her uncomfortable. A light frown was on those lips. He only wanted to help. To be her friend. He stopped in mid step. Violet eyes dancing this way and that. Kay was gone.

Kiryn blinked, those wings twitched and his hand was on his sword. He dashed through the entire dwelling, checking every room he came to. Quickly reaching the conclusion that Kay had left the dwelling. He returned to the kitchen. "Ceri! I think Kay might have gone outside...she could be in danger...Help me find her?" There was worry in his eyes, worry for the human. However, there was something else in his eyes as well. Hope. Hope that Ceri wouldn't just shrug him off, if Kay was in danger he would probably most definatly need Ceri's help. He would rely on her and trust her and hope she could come to rely on him and trust him.
