"Oh." was all that Drake could say, "The good thing is that she's safe and sound now." while he spoke he looked from Chloe to Janice, he smiled and nodded. "How are you feeling?" Drake said and looked backed to Chloe.
"Um... Okay?" She shrugged off the question as though she had little understanding of it, or rather, why it was asked. "And yourself?"
"I'm fine," he looked a little confused. "I asked because of your ankle." He said and looked down at it.
"Eh, started getting used to it. It's annoying since it's hard to cook, but I'm already used to the whole wheelchair thing now at least."
"That's good then" Drake said and nodded.
Chloe nodded quietly, paying little heed to anything else besides her focus on the conversation. "Yep."
"So how much, longer do you think until the pastries are done?" Drake asked randomly not seeing the conversation going anywhere.
"I think in about ten or so minutes we should check on it to see how it's going to get a better estimate."
"Alrighties then." Drake nodded. "How long have you been a chef and/or baker" Drake said and laughed lightly because of the way he said it.
She wanted to give a number of years, so she started to count on her fingers to recall. "Um... Too long? Since middle school or so, so... About six years or so maybe?"
"That's cool, so you've got quite a bit of experience." He laughed when she tried counting on her fingers.
She shrugged. "Guess so. I've been doing it since I started working at the bakery to help my mom with the bills, so..."
"Oh, How old were you when you started that?" He asked with sheer curiosity. One day it would probably get him killed.
"Eh, I was around ten or so when I actually started cooking at home, but I started working at the bakery when I was about eleven or twelve."
"That's cool." Drake said looking from Chloe to the dining room window that showed the clear blue sky with little puffs of clouds that looked like freshly picked cotton.
Chloe smiled slightly to him before she followed his gaze, giggling a bit at the way the clouds made her feel. "They make me hungry 'cause they look like fresh cotton candy."
Drake smiled and laughed lightly with her, "Yea, they do look like cotton candy." He turned his head sideways "That one has a piece coming off of it as if someone's eating it." He thought about the pastry in the oven, "Speaking of hungry, do you think pastry is done?" He looked to Chloe then back to the clouds one more time.
"I set a bell to go off when it's time to check on it. Until the-" As if on cue, the bell sprang to life. "Cut that. Yes- it's time to go check on the food." She smiled, rolling her way into the kitchen and checking on the pastries, noticing they were ready. "Can I borrow an oven mitt please?"
Drake laughed lightly when the bell rang, he followed Chloe into the kitchen grabbing a mitten on his way to the stove with her, "Here you go." He smiled and handed her the glove.
Chloe nodded in a way to thank him as she slipped the mitten onto her hand, reaching in and getting the tray out and putting it on the counter soon after. "Now we can ice it. Care to do the honors?"
"Sure" Drake said and nodded. He started to frost the pastry.
Chloe smiled as she watched. "I'm already excited."
Drake smiled and finished frosting it. "There we go. I'll bring it into the dining room if you want."
"I can at least help with bringing it in. You've done so much already- I feel bad."
"Alright then," Drake says and places the pastry into Chloe's hands. He goes to open the door connecting the kitchen to the dining room for Chloe. He bows slightly and laughs a little bit.
