Kenji had approached him and was offering him some of the leftovers. For a moment, Krinn regarded the male with an intense gaze before nodding his wolfen head. "Aa..I'll take it." He gave a soft wolfish smile to Kenji before he spoke again.

"Won't eat these parts, or can't eat these parts?" There was a look of knowing in his eyes. "I highly doubt your stomach is developed the way mine is. If you tried to eat these pieces you wouldn't be able to digest them..." He was silent for a moment before speaking again. "Being caught in the middle must be difficult for you, for your friend..I can't fully understand what you go through, I only know the things that I go through. Sometimes I think I'd rather be caught in the middle. Sometimes..I forget what creature I really am. You mustn't lose yourself, no matter how hard things get."

Chryssta 01-08-2010 06:36 AM

"You were human once, then?" Kenji was amazed that Krinn had picked out the reason he left behind so much stuff so quickly. He wasn't sure if he'd have preferred that Krinn think he was a finicky eater, or that his system couldn't handle much more than raw meat. "Being like this has some perks~" he couldn't help but be a little sad, being reminded that it's not the best way for an elf to live his life "~but I do miss my home, though as I think back on it, I can't remember what the draw of it was, other than Risa." He looks back to where she's sitting and eating an apple, her tail tip twitching happily. He could almost imagine her purring, if she could purr yet. "I won't let us get lost between who and what we are. I somehow survived three years without guidance, and I'm only at this stage of 'wild'."

Merisa was watching Kenji and Krinn talking while she ate her apples. She was thrilled to be eating such a delicious treat, it was rare that she'd get such a sweet apple before one of her aunts or her parents. She didn't even notice that her tail tip had begun to twitch back and forth, though she would have noticed if she'd started to purr, which she wasn't able to do just yet. She didn't want to admit it, but seeing Kenji eating the dead hen made her kind of jealous. Perhaps something was waking up inside of her that she hadn't thought existed. She'd have to remember to ask Kenji later when his craving for flesh began.

MintyRey 01-08-2010 07:01 AM

Yuzo started on the red berries as he listened to his companions converse. Merisa's tail twitching caught his eye and he noted that it was very much like how a cat's tail would behave when it was watching a mouse. His family members, of course, did nothing of the sort. They would either roar, fly, or swim around when they were happy. If they were feeling content, they would curl up into a ball if they were serpent like or rest under their wings if they had any. The green eyed boy himself felt like curling up into a ball right about now. If he were in his dragon form, that is. "Maybe the magic stone they're looking for could help you as well Krinn." he suggested.

Kry 01-08-2010 07:15 AM

He smiled at Kenji, a wolfish grin. "Sometimes a human, sometimes a wolf. Occasionally I forget what I started out as, but sometimes that doesn't matter." He nodded his head slightly. Everything had it's ups and it's downs and Kenji seemed to realize that. "Home is where your heart is. If your heart is with her, then wherever she is, is where your home is." His ears twitched and his eyes shifted from Kenji to Yuzo. Shaking his head slightly. "No...I've given up looking for help for myself..now I search for something else. Something that is more important to me than anything else in this world." The conversation was progressing further than he had meant..and the subject had turned to himself.

"Let me finish eating in peace now, please?" His gaze shifted from Yuzo to Kenji and then down at the mostly eaten hen that Kenji had brought to him. It was the most polite way he could think of to change the subject, that and he was still hungry and didn't really feel comfortable eating with someone as close to him as Kenji was at the moment.

Chryssta 01-08-2010 07:26 AM

"Yes, of course. I need to find somewhere to clean up anyway. While the meat is something I've come to accept, being covered in blood is something I'm not yet used to. Yuzo, do you think you can help me find a river close by? Or any form of water is fine." Kenji bows his head to the wolf, moving away from him to give him space while he finished Kenji's hen. When he was living in the forest with the other wolves, he picked up on a few mannerisms they had, one of which was that wolves didn't like to eat with a lot of strange company hanging around. It tended to make them nervous.

Merisa was still enjoying her second apple, not paying much attention to anything else. She hadn't noticed that Kenji was bloodied from the hen, nor had she noticed that he gave the last parts of it to Krinn. Her attention was solely on the wonderful apple in her hands. The small bite of heaven that she held within her grasp. She didn't even realize she'd begun to purr while eating the apple.

((My last post for tonight guys, I gotta get to bed. Don't wanna risk the fever coming back.))

[Alrighty :) Goodnight]

"There's a small stream out in the fields over that way." the dragon said, pointing to the vast grassland away from the hill. "It's small but it has a strong spirit." He led the man out into the grassy open. The blades of the fields were taller than those on the barely traveled road and almost reached above Yuzo's knee. He hummed a little tune as they moved though a few minutes of walking was all it took for the two tall boys to reach the brook. "Well! This little one has more spirit than I thought!" the horned guardian exclaimed after seeing the small fish that swam through the clear rushing waters. "Looks like it will turn into a great river someday. I can't wait to see who will be its guardian. Hopefully one of my younger siblings." He reached down and swiped at the surface of the brook. The water seemed to dance up and around his hand before falling back down to the stream.

Kry 01-08-2010 08:00 AM

Krinn had relaxed a bit more when they left him in peace to finish off his meal. Though he kept a watchful eye on Merisa when Yuzo and Kenji wandered off to find a stream or river. He no longer felt that familiar and foreboding presence coming from the forest. He ate the remains of the hen, or as much of it as was edible. Leaving the head and feet and certain internal organs. He would dig a hole and bury the rest of the remains.

There was a slight splash from the stream. As if something else was in it, and not a fish either. Indeed there was, and he stood in the water looking towards the dragon and the plains elf. Feline eyes narrowed slightly as the tiger ears atop his head twitched lightly. The splash had been made from his tail, the tip of it now under the water of the stream. His entire body was white with black stripes, a tiger. But other than that he looked almost human. With shoulder length white hair that was streaked black and completely naked. The young man didn't seem to need clothing though, as he didn't seem to have any genatalie to cover up. He licked his lips, his tail tip flicking this way and that under the water. A low growl emitted from the tiger boy.

Vanidar 01-09-2010 12:33 AM

Straightening up, Adamina made her way to the edge of the group. She sat there on the ground, lotus style, a bit away from everyone else. She remained here like this watching and listening, her palms on her knees and her tail slowly coursing back and forth. She jumped a bit, spaced out as she was, when Yuzo offered her the food. She nodded then took a small bit. Only enough for a few bites. She didn't eat much. Everything she took was plantlife, no meat; though she had no qualms about eating meat.

She ate her food in silence and continued to watch the others. She was surprised they showed as little interest in her as they did. Then again, they were quite an odd group.

Only a few minutes later two of the males, Kenji and Yuzo from what she had gathered from listening, left to go for water. She would have liked some too but didn't want to go. She'd been travelling the whole day and just wanted to rest. She turned her attention back to Krinn. In the wolf language she spoke to him. "I know that you are a wolf, my eyes tell me this. Yet, you are no ordinary wolf. For one, you are blue. Two, your energy is like nothing else my senses have every tasted. It's... different." Her eyes narrowed slightly and her head tilted slightly to the side. "Other than a wolf, what are you?"

It was while waiting for an answer that she first felt it. The stream was nearby, she'd heard it on her way to this place, and that was where she could sense Kenji and Yuzo. There was a third energy though. Something more similar to Krinn than any of the others. "Krinn. Your friend is nearby... with the other two at the stream if I'm not mistaken." Her senses had tasted just the faintest hint of the tiger energy.

Chryssta 01-09-2010 05:53 AM

"Yuzo, go get Krinn. Tell him to follow your scent here, and keep Merisa safe. I'll be back as soon as I can." Kenji knew from past experiences that when a feline creature started to growl at you, it was time to either fight, or flee with every bit of your essence. He wasn't in the mood to flee, however, but he knew he couldn't win the fight alone. Just in case Yuzo didn't get back fast enough, Kenji did wonder how good the wolf's hearing was, and if he'd hear a howl and know what it meant. He figured it couldn't hurt to try, and put as much of the urgency as he could into the cry.

Merisa heard the howl from the gathering spot, but she didn't know what it meant. "Krinn, what's going on?" She'd finished her apples, and was looking forward to walking some more, but everyone seemed to have split up suddenly. "Was that Kenji that howled?"

MintyRey 01-09-2010 06:31 AM

Yuzo was hesitant to just leave Kenji to face the potential threat alone but agreed with his suggestion to get help. With one last glance at the white tiger-like being, the teen ran back to the abandoned road. He could hear Kenji's howl as he moved away from him.

"Krinn!" He started calling out to the wolf as soon as he saw them. "Krinn! There's a white tiger at the stream and Kenji's facing him by himself!" The dragon boy stopped short of crashing into Merisa.

[I'm getting off after this so you guys can skip me. I thought I had more time :)]

Kry 01-09-2010 06:43 AM

Krinn had dug his hole and buried the remnants of both hens in it. Covering the hole with the fresh dirt. He looked up, his eyes on Adamina as she spoke to him. His body tensed a bit and he shook his head. "Just a very old wolf...It isn't important, really.." He wasn't ready to reveal himself, not any of them just yet. He had been about to say more, when she spoke of his friend..for a moment confusion clouded his eyes and then he heard the howl, his ears twitched and eyes narrowed darkly.

Just as he turned towards the stream, Yuzo was in view, calling out to him. "Aa..Stay here. Protect the females." For a moment, he hesitated, thought about howling back to Kenji, but he couldn't risk it. If it really was Alderan, that would spark the tiger into actually attacking. Krinn ran off towards the stream as quick as his four legs could carry him. It didn't take him very long before he was next to Kenji, and then infront of him. He growled menacingly at the tiger, fangs bared.

Alderan had kept his eyes on Kenji, though it had been hard to resist the urge to chase the dragon that ran off. Those ears twtiched slightly and his tail swayed to and fro slowly. He took a few steps towards Kenji and then stopped. It was almost as if he couldn't decide if he wanted to attack that wolf boy or not. It certainly wasn't the wolf he was looking for, so there really wasn't much use in attacking him. And then..There he was. That cobalt wolf. His eyes narrowed dangerously as Krinn came into view and moved infront of Kenji. He smiled at Krinn. "Hallo, cousin. Suprised to see me so soon? Thought I was lost in the desert didn't you?" His voice was taunting.

Chryssta 01-09-2010 07:28 AM

Kenji was smart enough to not say anything upon Krinn's arrival. He also knew when getting into an offensive position was a good idea. Dropping down close to the ground, his hackles raised and a growl in his throat, he stands beside Krinn, waiting for the attack to come. He might not have the claws of a wolf, or the jaws of a wolf, but he had the speed of an elf, and the sheer fighting power of one that learned how to fight in the wild. He could hold his own against most opponents.

~X~

"That was Kenji... What's happening?" Merisa was up and bouncing around, impatient for information about the two wolves.

Vanidar 01-09-2010 07:44 AM

From her position on the ground Adamina looked up at Merisa in the curious way she had. Her disconcertingly blank eyes completely emotionless. Then a smile came over her features. "Calm yourself." She laughed. Refocusing her attention on the ruckus by the water she perked her ears up farther. Blocking out every other sound around her she listened only for the sounds of the others. Her expression faded from smiling to one of deep concentration. Finally, she got what she wanted. The ghost of a smile returned to her lips.

"... was lost in the desert didn't you?"

She heard the last bit of the tiger-man's words. They were strange, a dialect she'd not heard before, and mixed with the growls of the wolves strangely. She remained focused though. If Merisa wanted to know what was happening she'd have to wait until Mina had something to tell her. For now though, still keeping her focus, she gave Risa the best summation she could.

"Krinn has an enemy... and he's been followed. From the desert I'd say..." Her body was completely still for once.

Kry 01-09-2010 07:47 AM

Krinn growled at the tiger again, then glanced at Kenji when the boy lowered himself next to Krinn. He shook his head slightly. "This is a fight for me..You should return to your woman. I can handle that kitten." Krinn's eyes gleamed for a moment at the thought of battle, even though he really didn't like it, there was also a bit of fear in Krinn's eyes. "Besides...it isn't fair the fight two against one."

Alderan's tail swished up out the of the water, hanging just an inch over the stream's surface and then moving side to side slowly. His eyes were on Krinn, his only interest was in that cobalt colored wolf. His eyes glinted with excitment. "C'mon, leave your pup there and play with me, Krinny. We've unfinished business and I'd like to pay you back for what happened on the burning sands." The last two words were said with a bit of a growl.

Chryssta 01-09-2010 08:00 AM

Kenji shakes his head, sending his hair flying. "I can't do that. You might be a new friend, but Merisa wouldn't easily forgive me if I left and you didn't come with me." He doesn't move back one bit, but inches closer to the cat-thing. "I won't leave, but if you want, I won't join in right away."

~X~

Merisa stops bouncing as Mina makes her report from what she could hear. All things considered, Risa might have heard the same thing, had she not been bouncing around like a hyper bunny. "A tiger? Like a real tiger? Wow... Epic battle between cat and dog..." She bows her head briefly, then looks up to the sky, praying that Kenji and Krinn make it back to them safely.

Vanidar 01-09-2010 08:14 AM

Closing her eyes and trying hard to block out Merisa's chatter, Mina listens intently. Her keen hearing misses a few words but she gets the gist of the conversation. The ghost of the smile is still there. "Krinn wants Kenji to come back... he said no. That you would never forgive him if he came back without fighting." Laughter could be heard in her voice though she wasn't acually laughing.

"I could probably hear better if I were closer..." Mina said suddenly. She stood, gracefully unfolding herself from the ground, and trotted a bit away. Looking back to make sure she wasn't being followed, she bent her knees and jumped. Shooting through the air like a torpedo she grabbed the branch above her and spun her way up. She looked for all the world to be a trapeze artist.

Now kneeling on the branch, facing away from Merisa and her ears pointed straight toward the creek it was much easier to hear. "Someone's not very happy..." She snickered, her face alight with wicked humor. The tiger seemed to have gotten the short end of the stick in his and Krinn's last encounter. Mina wanted to be able to hear still better. She looked over her shoulder once, her face still lit up with the wicked humor, then sprang from her branch to another. Her tail balanced her and she continued like this, silently 'running' through the treetops. Within' minutes she was standing looking over the scene at the creek much as she'd stood over Merisa's camp before. She knelt on her branch, not making it sway or move at all, and watched intently.

Kry 01-09-2010 08:26 AM

Kenji was being stubborn, but Krinn understood why. Shaking his head again. "Stay here and wait for me, then we can return to your female together." He could tell, could see it in the way the tiger's muscles tensed that Alderan was about to run off. "He wouldn't fight against you anyway." Krinn took a step forward.

"Look, now. You aren't even playing by the rules anymore, Krinny. Two against one, that's cheating." Alderan had taken a step back. Eyes narrowed and gleaming dangerously, a low growl came from him. A challenge, then he had turned on his heels and ran. As he ran his form changed, shifting from humanoid to that of a tiger. A rather large tiger. He bounded into the woods, glancing over his shoulder to see if Krinn chased.

And Krinn did. As soon as Alderan bounded deeper to the woods, Krinn raced off after him. Growling and cursing him in several different languages as he chased.

Chryssta 01-09-2010 08:37 AM

Kenji cursed under his breath when Krinn took off after the large tiger. He would have followed, had he not picked up on the scent of the odd female. Plus, there was the added promise that Krinn made about returning with him to the others. "What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be back with Yuzo and Merisa? She can't fight, you know. She runs instead." His voice held a trace of a growl, but it was more from his attack posture than anger toward the strange female.

~X~

"She vanished..." Merisa gasped at the sudden vacancy of the area. Only her and Yuzo remained on the road. "Okay, I can do this. These ears have to be good for something..." She sits down cross legged at the base of a tree, facing the way Kenji went earlier. She focuses all her attention on her hearing, listening for anything, voices, fighting, anything. Kenji knows I wouldn't want his to needlessly fight something, so maybe the message got warped in transit. After a minute or two, she picks up a voice that sounds a lot like Kenji, but had a more throaty sound to it. It kind of sounded, to her at least, that the person was trying to talk with a sore throat.

Kry 01-09-2010 08:48 AM

Within moments, both tiger and wolf were out of sight and nearly out of ear shot. Once they were out of sight the fighting seemed to have commenced. Angry growls and roars could be heard from the large tiger, his voice carried farther, mostly because of his size. Occasionally a growl or bark like noise of anger or pain could be heard, most likely from the wolf. Though such noises were infrequent and grew fainter. It seemed they were carrying the battle farther from Kenji and where the odd female was.

Chryssta 01-09-2010 09:06 AM

Kenji uttered another curse under his breath and took off after Krinn, following his scent through the woods. He didn't notice what he passed, too focused on the smell of the ones he pursued. Yes, Krinn told him to wait there, but he couldn't just leave a friend in case there was something he could do to help. Plains Elves had little need for healers any more, what with the lack of adventurers, but a wolf/elf living alone in the forest needs some healing ability to ensure that death won't come too soon, such as after a fight, or by eating bad food. It wasn't much, but he could wrap a wound if need be. He uttered another curse as he slowed down. He didn't want Krinn to know he'd followed them, but he didn't want to be left behind either.

When he caught up with them, he stayed in the shadows, not allowing himself to be detected by either side. I'm here if you need me, Krinn. His thoughts steadied his racing pulse, but he knew that uttering anything in any language would be a mistake. He just had to hope that Krinn wouldn't fall to this bully.

~X~

Merisa nearly tore off to the stream when she heard Kenji swear. She knew he would follow Krinn, but she wasn't really sure why. She liked the wolf, but they hadn't really known him that long. Perhaps his time alone in the forest changed him more than she thought it did. He seemed to have formed a pack in the mere moments that he'd been by her side again. It was the way he was acting, like he was the alpha wolf and one of his pack was singled out like prey for a weak predator that didn't want to take on the entire pack.

I wonder if that makes me the alpha female then?

Kry 01-09-2010 09:19 AM

Krinn had already fallen. Sometime during the fight, before Kenji had gotten within sight of the two, Krinn's form had changed. A tall human with long cobalt blue hair and intelligent bright blue eyes lay on his back. The tiger, who had changed back into his own humanoid form, straddled Krinn's waist and held his arms pinned up on either side of his head. Unlike the tiger, Krinn was fully clothed, able to change forms with his clothing on and keep them..though..that didn't matter. The scent of blood was in the air, sharp and coppery. Alderan and leaned forward, whispering something in Krinn's ear that made his eyes widen and all struggling stop. Lips parted slightly as if in shook of something. "..wha..?"

Alderan looked up then, looking in Kenji's direction. "Ah..Your pup has come to lick your wounds.." Then the tiger was up, jumping into a tree and bounding away with minimal injuries. Krinn's clothing was torn and stained with his blood and the tiger's blood. Cuts and bruises here and there, though the main injury seemed to be his left side. Large gashes that had come from Alderan when he was in his large tiger form. Krinn was moving, over whatever it was that had shocked him. He moved slow, sitting up and then standing. Right hand over his left side, though that didn't do much to help stop the blood flow. He grit his teeth and staggered off in the direction the tiger had fled. Stumbling a bit. Long hair that nearly trailed the ground was in a messy braid down his back, he took another stumbling step and fell to his hands and knees, his hair falling over one shoulder. He didn't try to stand again.

Chryssta 01-09-2010 09:31 AM

Kenji growls out loud. Even though he didn't know Merisa's thoughts, the tiger/elf was right. He saw Krinn as a possible member to a pack he wanted to form. Perhaps it was some inner instinct that was still forming from being between forms for so long.

Even if the male human on the ground had the same hair as Krinn, he found it hard to believe that he and the wolf were the same, though it would certainly explain the human smell that was on Krinn the wolf.

Tearing strips of fabric from his shirt, he kneels beside the fallen human and begins to dress the wounds he can see immediately. "You shouldn't have pursued him alone, Krinn. Tigers verses wolves never end with the canine winning. Why do you think wolves travel in packs?"

~X~

Merisa couldn't hear anything from the stream, she couldn't hear anything that might be happening anywhere. There was nothing for her to do but wait for the others to come back. Like most cats, her options were limited for what she could do to pass the time until they returned, and since there was no string for her to play with, a nap in a tree was a decent idea. Come back to me in one piece Kenji.

Kry 01-09-2010 09:40 AM

Krinn had shifted positions, sitting up and gingerly pulling his own shirt off just before Kenji got close to him, his body held scars, not alot, but some were deep and one went down his spine..an injury anyone would be lucky to recover from but it was a old scar..nearly all of them had come from fights with that tiger. He was looking down at himself, and had poked the gashes in his side gingerly before letting his hand fall away and turning his head away from Kenji as the young man dressed his wounds. "I had to...besides..I'm confident that he won't kill me..not on purpose anyway.." He had winced and flinched slightly, despite Kenji's careful hands tending to him. "I had to..because he won't fight me if I'm not alone."

Chryssta 01-09-2010 10:07 AM

"Why is it so important to fight him? What do you gain aside from new scars? Do you actually win any of the battles, or do you always end up on the bottom of the fight? I don't mean to criticize, but maybe you shouldn't fight him. Like I said, there's a reason wolves travel in packs." He carefully dresses more of the new wounds, trying not to wince at the imagined pain of the many scars. "One wolf isn't very strong at all, but many wolves can bring down even the fiercest of opponents."

His shirt was in tatters by the time he was done, so instead of looking like he got chewed up and spit out, he simply takes it off and ties it around his waist. Who knew, someone else might need bandages before the day was out. "Come, lets go back to the others. I imagine they're worried about us."

He kneels down to offer a hand to Krinn, and hesitates a moment. "I imagine you see me as a child, don't you. You who look younger, but your eyes say you're far older. I might be younger than you, Krinn, I might be new to the wolf thing, but I'm not completely clueless. What I know is what I've learned from the packs near home. They're always saying that rogue wolves don't last alone. Packs are stronger."

((Last post, gotta head to bed. I work tomorrow.))

Kry 01-09-2010 10:28 AM

"..He has information that I need.." He frowned a bit, wincing mostly from the scolding and not the injuries. He was being scolded, he ducked his head a bit, as if to dodge the stinging words. Krinn chewed his bottom lip as Kenji scolded him. Sighing softly. "It's not that simple...Besides...I don't always lose." Other than that, he really didn't have anything more he could say to Kenji to defend himself from the scolding. "...A wolf is only as strong as his pack..." He murmered the words, but they weren't his own, they were words someone had once told him along time ago. "...But I can't stay in a pack. I don't stay in one spot long enough. I'm looking for someone and Alderan, that tiger, knows where he is....I have to fight him, sometimes it can't be avoided."

When Kenji stood and offered his hand, Krinn took it. Standing with Kenji's help. He smiled at the wolf boy. "Age has nothing to do with the wisdom gained." Once he was on his feet he winced. "I was careless." He grit his teeth a bit. "It'll be alright, I heal fast."
