How is love possible? [Jessi x Jack]

Once upon a time in a land far, far away there lived a Vampire Prince.
That Prince was a bit arrogant to those who didn't know him and judged him on looks and status.
But right now, he wasn't in his castle. Oh no, he was in a carriage, on his way to the Elven King, Queen and Princess.
The fathers of the young ones had arranged a meeting between the Prince and Princess. 'nothing special, just for socializing so there won't be a war.' King Vincent had told Prince Jack.

The red haired vampire lazily looked forward. He had just been waken from his two week slumber, two whole weeks in that horrible uncomfortable carriage. Thank Lord his father was in an other one. Due health reasons his Mother couldn't make it with them.
Jack started to brush his slightly messy hair and pulled it back in a neat ponytail. He had to look good right? It would be bad for his father and country if Jack behaved like an uninterested young man.
He fixed his jacket and made sure he looked presentable. Once that was all done he stretched out and waited until the carriage with undead horses would stop.

Once it did his door was opened and he stepped out. There he stood full hight. A full 1.80 meters. His long hair reached to his lower back. His blue eyes searched for his father carriage, which was right behind him.
The King stepped out. Unlike his son, the jet black hair was short and was combed back neatly. The only thing they shared was their height and eyes, which were an icy blue colour. The King walked to his son only to greet him briefly before turning to the door politely to meet with the Royal Family of Elves.

Jesilyn lay face down upon her blue, white and gold embroidered silk bed- she was not looking forward to this day. She was quite unwilling to accept guests, and thus was finding it hard to force herself from the bed to change into a more appropriate ensemble for when these unwanted guests arrived. She knew, however, that her ladies in waiting would be coming soon to help her prepare for the rendezvous. Jesilyn had always preferred to dress herself, so, though unwillingly, she pushed herself up from the bed and over to the chaise lounge, across the room near the window. Her dark blue eyes with their icy centers around the pupil fell upon the emerald gown as it lay there lifelessly. It was embroidered with gold around the low-cut collar, and also had gold bands around the arms just above the elbows from which the sleeves belled out.

As she changed, she wondered why the visitors were on their way. Jesilyn had been warned of their journey to her Elven kingdom weeks ago, but she had not been informed why they were coming. After she had put on the gown, she tied at the waist a small tight bow, so the ends hung loose and free, so when she walked they would flutter behind her. She moved over to her vanity, sitting in front of the large mirror and brushing her long, dark brown hair, which began to fall in waves once it reached her neck; and when she stood at her height of 5'6", the ends of the waves would meet her lower back. Since it was heading towards the colder season in the Elven kingdom, Jesilyn's hair was tinted red, in contrast to the blonder tones it took when the warmer season of summer was present. The princess' hair was vastly darker than the rest of the Elven race, as were her eyes, despite her parents being brilliantly blonde, though her father had the same reddish tint as Jesilyn's in winter. On the day Jesilyn was born, a soothsayer warned the King and Queen that their daughter's dark hair and eyes were a bad omen. She had always wondered what sort of rage that had sent her father into- hearing his only daughter was a bringer of misfortune, which had yet to ring true in her twenty-four years of life. Yes, she was a young elf indeed.

When her wavy hair was tamed enough by the brush, she placed upon her head the gold, wiry tiara that had an emerald set so it would shine from the center of the princess' forehead. Then, she placed around her neck a necklace that matched the crown, and the rest of the outfit. As she finally managed to clasp the necklace closed, two of her ladies-in-waiting entered the room, smiling, for they knew despite the princess' reluctance she would be ready. One of them brought to Jesilyn a pair of slipper shoes with a very low heel, which were also of emerald and gold fabrics, which the princess slipped on immediately.

Jesilyn looked once more at her paled complexion, which was particularly pale for the occasion, and told the ladies, "I do not suppose I can be any more prepared than I am now." and stood, letting the ladies lead her to the throne room, where her parents issued their final warning for Jesilyn to be polite.

The word came the carriages were approaching the palace and the Elven royals went out to the top step of their castle to greet their Vampire guests. Jesilyn watched on with horror as they approached, "My dear Faerie Goddess sitting at a tavern bar!" she exclaimed, which was the equivalent of cursing to a God, as the Elves worshiped many aspects of nature, including the Faeries. It was also quite unlady-like, and not fit for a princess to say.

"Jesilyn!" her mother hissed in warning. Apparently, the last minute lecture on politeness was not effective. Jesilyn reasoned that it was only required she be polite in front of the guests, not behind their backs.

"Look at their carriages, and the poor horses!" she defended, looking to her parents then to the newcomers, just as they stopped. Her father shot her one last warning glance and they looked to their guests with smiles on their faces, as false as Jesilyn's was. She watched with curiosity though, as the Vampire King and his son stood there before the Elvens, a complete contrast to the natives.

"Welcome, my friends, welcome!" the Elven king said happily, bowing slightly at the waist, which Jesilyn and her mother mimicked with a curtsy. Her mother adding, "I hope your journey was not too trying."

Jack MacGaven 01-05-2010 06:53 PM

When their hosts arrived Jack stayed behind his father and bowed politely just like the older vampire. "Good Afternoon!" the older man said as he moved forward for a handshake. "The travel was just fine! Just as always!" How could his father be that happy? Ugh, he would never understand.
His eyes wandered off to look around. Everything was so light and so crafty. It was obvious that the Prince held great respect for their crafts. With a sigh he looked back at their own gothic-styled black carriages. The gap between the two countries was huge! But then again it was a great opportunity to learn from one other.

His father had hissed at him to pay attention, but it took a firm tug on the hair to have Jack's attention. "I'm sorry, my son is rather quickly distracted by new things." He had thrown in a growl towards his son. "I was also requested to wish you the best from my wife, who sadly couldn't make it with us." he said with a light bow of the head. Smiling he bowed to the queen and took her hand gently, kissing the back of it. "It's an honour to be here again." Vincent said before he looked back at his son.

Jack had been looking around some more, but in the end he shook the Elven Kings hand and moved out to the Queen once his father was done with her. The long haired prince bowed politely before he made the same courtesy towards the princess. "I too am honoured to be here." he said softly. He wasn't much of a speaker around new people, unlike his father.

JessiFlakes 01-05-2010 07:56 PM

((They'll get shorter, don't worry. XD *laughs* ))

Jesilyn was surprised by the vampire king's enthusiasm- she just hadn't been expecting him to be so... cheerful. The kings shook hands, "It's good to have you back, Vincent!" he smiled. Jesilyn cringed a little at the gesture towards her mother, but the Queen smiled as the vampire king took and kissed her hand, "I do hope your wife is well." she said sincerely, "Might I ask what is ailing her?" she asked. The Queen, as with most elves, were quite adapt to making medicines for all sorts of ailments, and there was no doubt the queen asked, hoping to help.

Up closer, the vampire royalty seemed rather... beautiful, Jesilyn hated to admit. Though, the prince seemed as though he didn't really care to be there. He seemed to have more of an interest in his surroundings than anything. Jesilyn wondered whether he would rather be exploring the kingdom rather than in the presence of the people who ruled over it. She could see him wanting to explore more than be there though. She didn't even want to be there.

When it was her turn, she politely greeted and curtsied when appropriate. She had to admit, she was kind of taking to the king and his excitement to be there. Anyone who was that thrilled to be among her people had to be good, right? The king suggested they enter the castle and to the sitting room, where they could chat and such. King Lucien walked with King Vincent, and Queen Meryl walked next to her husband. Jesilyn turned, curtsying to the other once more, "Prince." she smiled, expecting him to walk either with her, or to at least follow. She had a feeling he was smart enough to figure that out on his own. She straggled along behind the three in their line, not wanting to get in their way.

Jesilyn walked along, looking up and down the white marble corridor, lined with statues of Elven heroes and passed Kings, most of whom were her ancestors; she was proud of them. There were other halls branching off the main corridor. It was not far down the hall that the group came to a hall down which they turned left and there was one door- to the sitting room, the walls covered in blue fabric, a white marble floor with a matching blue threaded rug and furniture that matched both colors as well. The king offered the guests to sit where they would like, in the well furnished room, and even waited for the other king to sit before him, then asked if there was anything he would like.

Jack MacGaven 01-05-2010 09:32 PM

Vincent was happily smiling as he just smiled at the other Royals. "Ah, well...We haven't figured it out yet. I personally think we're having another baby..." he sighed softly. Two vampires having children was a sacred and rare thing. The babies were born dead. Only if the bloodlines of mother and father was strong enough it would breathe eventually. If they were born through the womans womb and not through an egg. Jack was a miracle all together.

Vincent smiled and nodded to the suggestion of them going in side. He was looking quite happy and what reason did he have not to be? His son was getting married soon enough. Soon enough he was chatting with the other adults and kind of forgot about Jack and Jesilyn.

Jack looked at the princess when she offered him to walk with them. He gave a nod with his head and walked beside the princess, following the parents of course. As they passed the corridors his eyes wandered about. "You have a nice palace." he commented to no one in particular. It was rare of him to speak so openly about things.
Once in the sittingroom he chose a chair a bit further away from the others and just allowed everything to happen. The palace was very tasteful, he enjoyed it but it was a bit too light for his personal taste.

Vincent took a seat on one of the two couches that were the centre piece in the room along side the low coffee table. He sat back and just enjoyed talking to his old friends again. "Well, what can you offer a vampire?" he asked politely. Of course the both of them would drink 'normal' drinks and have 'normal' food if that was all the other King had to offer.
Jack looked at his father who had waved him over, against his will the redhead sat down beside his father and crossed his legs. "I'll have what ever my dear Father is having." he said. Such an easy kid.

JessiFlakes 01-05-2010 11:13 PM

As they walked, Jesilyn heard Prince Jack speak, but said a mere "Thank you." with a smile. She had not been expecting a comment as such. He and his father looked so out of place in the castle, she couldn't help but notice. The prince was like fox among a flock of sheep- She stopped herself at the thought, thinking that perhaps that had been a bad comparison to use, even in her mind. She pondered other possible comparisons as they walked, saying none of what she was thinking out loud.

When the other finally sat, her own parents took a seat on the other couch, leaving Jesilyn to seat herself in a chair to the side of the couch her parents were on, by the fireplace. She looked at the flames that were already burning brightly, as her father spoke, "Well, I sincerely hope it is another child for you. That would indeed be good news." The queen nodded in agreement and offered to give the king something that may help his wife, should she be pregnant. At this, Jesilyn wondered if medicine could work on vampires. A thought she pondered, again, to herself. She had decided not to speak any more than she needed to, despite the fact she would have liked to ask that question to the King and his son, to get a solid answer.

"Well, we tried to prepare ourselves for your visit, since the last time you did not seem comfortable with what we had to offer..." King Lucien said, waving over a servant from the doorway, who was carrying two glasses of a thick, red liquid, which Jesilyn stared at wide eyed, while her mother looked away. The servant was no more comfortable holding the glasses, which he set on the table in front of the guests, then went out to the hall once again, only to return again with a tray carrying three more glasses, these filled with a light green liquid, setting them in front of the elves. "Is that to your liking...?" King Lucien asked, concerned as to whether or not he had pleased his company, which showed in his voice. Jesilyn remained staring at the red liquid, which she could smell from where she sat; she watched the liquid closely, waiting to see what happened to it.

Jack MacGaven 01-06-2010 07:28 AM

The prince had made no further movements or spoke no more than he really needed to. There was no need for it, right? They were only here for formal reasons and nothing else. Or so his father had said. Jack who seemed to have no will of his own just sat there, being pretty and polite.
King Vincent on the other hand was more free and acted as a friend around King Lucien and his wife. They were the best of buddies ever since they had met. The Vampire kingdom and the Elven kingdom had always been on good terms with one other. They knew that they were equally strong and they would rather end arguments in a polite game of chess. Which was actually more for fun than a real battle.

When the glasses were brought in both Jack and Vincent were surprised. It was blood, they couldn't identify where it came from yet, but it was blood. It was so odd to be served that in the Elven Kingdom. Either someone had slit their wrist for them or they killed an animal, just for them...
The two vampires eyed each other and then turned to the royals that sat across the table. The two of them bowed deeply at the same time. "Thank you." they said before they sat back.
This time Jack took the honour of speaking. "This is rather unusual to see here. We are very grateful for this kind gesture. But you know, Your Highness, that we would kindly take in anything else that you would offer to us." he spoke. He did however take the glass smelled it before taking a sip. And nodding, he could taste animal, but couldn't place which one.
Vincent took his glass as well. "If I may ask, what kind of, ahem, blood is it?" It was obvious that the two of them were rather sensitive over this gesture, for their hosts sake.

JessiFlakes 01-06-2010 08:04 AM

Jesilyn watched as the blood was moved around and treated as wine. When the prince took a sip, Jesilyn finally broke her gaze, covering her mouth, and suppressing a small gagging noise. She couldn't believe they were drinking it! And what's more, she couldn't believe that her father had offered it to them! It was so... she couldn't think of the proper word, but barbaric and condemning the sacredness of life came to mind. She couldn't watch longer and remained staring at the fire, and thus couldn't see the looks her parents were giving her.

"I apologize for our daughter, she has never acted this way before." Meryl apologized for her daughter, who in her chair was fighting not arguing it.
Lucien turned his attention back to their guests, "I am aware you would take what we had, but I know well you prefer this, Vincent, even if it is animal... blood." he said, struggling momentarily with the word 'blood'. Apparently, there was guilt there, Jesilyn noted. "I would like you to be as comfortable as you can here, and since this is included..." he trailed, leaving the rest to the imagination. When asked what type of blood it was, the Queen was first to speak, "Griffin," she said shortly, obviously not enjoying the thought, "wretched thing came out of no where and attacked our people for no reason. Perfectly healthy, physically at least. So when we had it killed, to save the people and release the poor creature from its suffering, we thought to save the... blood for you." the Queen concluded, also struggling with the word.

The King nodded, "I was not sure what was natural as part of your lifestyle in your own kingdom, Vincent, but I wanted to try what I could." he smiled. "Is it satisfactory, friend?" he asked.

Jesilyn was slightly comforted by the thought that it had been the griffin's. She remembered the attack- she had seen it, even. It nearly killed five of her people. Griffins did not often attack within a town, and they even more rarely attacked Elves. It was a logical conclusion something was wrong with it, but once someone put it to sleep using a powder in its food while it was locked up, they examined the creature to find no evident ailments. It was concluded it was in its head that it was ill, and henceforth need be relieved of its suffering. She brought herself to look at her guests, trying to avoid looking directly at the glasses. She took comfort in her own glass of warm, tingling liquid, being the first and least considerate of the Elves. Technically, the guests had accepted theirs already, so she was perfectly in the clear in taking her own glass. She sipped it lightly, and as she did, the liquid turned into a thicker, golden liquid, and it remained so, even after she placed it back on the table. She looked at her lap, folding her hands only to find herself ringing them. Jesilyn was not sure what to do in the company she held, and the silent act was beginning to wear on her.

Jack MacGaven 01-06-2010 08:20 AM

As the girl made that small noise and acted impolite the two vampires could only sympathize her. It must've been hard seeing the source of life being devoured almost as if it was just ordinary wine. Well, to them it was normal to drink it. But Jack could understand that the Elves didn't like it.

Vincent just smiled at the couple in front of him. "Ah, don't be sorry. I can understand her reaction very well." he nodded. As the queen explained what had happened and that it was Griffin blood he could hear Jack coughing, apparently the shock that it was Griffin blood as a bit too much for the prince. With a few pats on his back and a nod that he would be okay he looked at the couple. "I apologize. Griffins are nearly saints in our Kingdom. But since you said he was mentally not healthy, I think it's alright to drink it..." He then took another sip, obviously he too now felt guilty over the creature. He wouldn't have a problem if it were a horse or cow but...Griffin?

Vincent too seemed to struggle at the fact. But the animal had been put down because it wasn't healthy, not for them necessarily. "It is, the drink" he wisely chose another word for blood, since his friends were uneasy at the word. "is very delicious." he nodded. "How much do you have left?" they would not spill a drop, everything had to be gone before they would leave for their kingdom again. Lucky for them they would stay here for exact ten days before heading back again.

Jack however put his half empty glass on the table and wisely changed the subject to something more suitable for his hosts. "I have a question, is there a possibility for me to go out for a ride? I would love to see your lands." he had more questions but this would be the first. He seemed really eager to go out and explore. He had been shy but he was getting a bit more loose now. Perhaps it was the blood or perhaps he just wasn't a morning person.

JessiFlakes 01-06-2010 05:18 PM

Jesilyn smiled a bit at Vincent, pleased to see someone understood her rather involuntary action, but she said nothing. Their reaction to what animal's blood it was surprised her. She found it interesting a vampire could find anything sacred, considering their "lifestyle" as her father had called it, so politely.

While Jesilyn was amused, her parents were apologetic, claiming they did not know that of griffins and vampires, which they honestly did not. Her father was mortified by his mistake, "I am so sorry, Vincent..." at which Jesilyn found the need for words at last in reassuring both her father and saving him from his embarrassment, "All the more reason to drink the blood." she said, having no problem with saying it aloud, though in her own mind she could not even believe it, "If the creature is sacred to you, letting its blood be spilled as such would be wasting what the creature has to offer. That is to say, since he needed to be put out of his misery, taking the blood for yourselves seems as great a tribute as any, to ensure the creature's spirit his death was not simply an act of mercy towards himself, but also to pay back those who live on the earth. One could consider it... a way of remembrance for the creature..." she offered, unsure of the last thing she had said. Towards the end of her speech, she had lost the ability to speak eloquently about an excuse for drinking a creature's blood, though she thought she did well, considering. She could see her parents staring at her out of the corner of her eye, while the princess looked to their guests for some sort of a sign that she had not misspoken. What a waste it would have been, breaking her silence if she had not helped, she thought.

In the meantime, the Queen felt the need to add, addressing the question Prince Jack had posed, "Of course you could. Jesilyn knows this land better than most our guards, I would say. Perhaps you would like her company?" At this, Jesilyn looked at her mother, who only looked back. Apparently, since she had broken her silence, that required her to serve as a complete hostess at the castle, including royal babysitting. However annoying the thought was to her, she knew she would not be able to say no to the prince. Perhaps it was because he was so out of place in her kingdom that she felt the sympathy for him... Or perhaps that her father had fed them blood of one of their "saintlike creatures", but either way, she knew she would not decline if he didn't.

Jack MacGaven 01-06-2010 05:48 PM

Vampires were often mistaken as barbaric creatures, but they had their pride and habits that would seem barbaric. But all together Vampires were respectful creatures. They did not live alone in the kingdom, there were humans and other races who maintained their nature during the day, when the Vampires could not venture out. In return, Vampires dealt with politics, economy and law. They balanced everything out perfectly fine. People were asked to donate blood in special hospitals for their 'land lords', everyone above 18 was asked, children were not.

When Jesilyn spoke both of the Vampires listened to her and after her short speech they smiled. "Yes. You're right." Vincent nodded. He rose his glass to Jack who did the same nodding. "Yes, it would be a shame to let it go to waste." the boy agreed before he sipped it again. Now that he saw it from a different point of view he could drink it freely. The blood did taste good, he had to admit that. Vincent too seemed to enjoy the thick liquid.

When the queen offered such a service he bowed his head. "It would be impolite to turn it down, I suppose. But only if she wished to accompany me." he added, his ice blue eyes moving over to the girl and he even managed to smile, a rare sight. It was a mere polite gesture towards the girl though. He put his glass down on the table again and eased back once more. He began to relax. Vincent noticed that and put his glass down as well. "Lucien, my dear friend, could I have a word with you in private?" he asked as he got up and fixed his jacket at the same time.

JessiFlakes 01-06-2010 11:41 PM

Mentally, Jesilyn let out a sigh of relief and met her mother and father's eyes, both of who now had smiles on their face. Jesilyn had done a good thing, and it was good enough for her that her parents had approved. She was slightly proud that her explanation had convinced the other royals that they were doing a good thing. Even in the situation which she had done so, she thought it was a good thing. At least something else could be a benefit of the creature's death... Though, freeing it from its pain was more important, in her opinion.

A sigh escaped Jesilyn's lips, which preceded a smile, as she looked back into the vampire boy's eyes, "I would be honoured." she said, pretending as though it actually were, "It has been awhile since I've been out on a ride myself, so I think it would be most enjoyable." she said. She knew she wouldn't say no, now deciding she would indeed enjoy seeing him outside in her lands, out of place. She could also play a guide of sorts, which she usually enjoyed.

The king nodded, "Of course." and stood, following his friend's lead. Panic overcame the princess andn her eyes moved away from Prince Jack to her father and Vincent, who she decided in her mind she was comfortable enough with to be on a first name basis, but not aloud. Her father hardly ever left her mother's side. There was never a moment where her mother didn't know something her father did. Perhaps it's a private matter, man to man, she reasoned, or that her father would include her mother later, but didn't see it fit to leave the two younger royals alone in the room together. Yes, she thought, it had to be the second one, or at least the first... She watched the two leave the room, then looked to her mother, but chose not to speak.

Jack MacGaven 01-07-2010 09:24 AM

Both vampires seemed to be more on ease now that they had a nicer point of view on drinking the griffin blood. They stayed polite, always.
Vincent soon enough put his glass down neatly. "One thing is sure. You have a very clear vision of the world." he agreed with himself. Jack just looked at his father and said nothing. It was wiser to shut up and not to agrue with his father.

When the princess said that she was honoured to be his guide, Jack smiled and nodded. "I'm honoured that you will guide me." he said politely, smiling widely now, his pearly white teeth and fangs showing, this was not a fake smile. Sure his fangs looked scary, but he rarely used them. Well...Never used them would be more appropriate.
When their fathers walked off Jack seemed to relax more. Now that there was no one to hit him if he said or did something wrong. Slowly he pulled the tie out of his hair and allowed it to fall freely past his shoulders. He hated these clip like ties, they always pulled his hair too tight, making his scalp irritated. He preferred ribbons. When his hair was loose he rubbed the back of his head and made sure his hair looked appropriate enough. He then looked at the two remaining Elves. The silence was really getting on his nerves. So...erm...perhaps you could tell me a bit more about your customs? I don't want to offend you." he asked politely.

Meanwhile the two Kings had gotten to Lucien's office. Playfully Vincent took a seat on the others desk and looked at him. "I think we should wait with telling them. At least until tomorrow. If they are going to ride together, they might just fall in love, then the whole ordeal won't be such a trouble." he said as he followed the other King with his eyes. "But honestly, you daughter is very beautiful."

JessiFlakes 01-07-2010 09:32 PM

Jesilyn smiled a bit, unsure how to respond. The Queen smiled as well, thanking them for the compliment.

Jesilyn tilted her head slightly as the prince let down his hair. She watched with curiosity; he had very long hair for a man, but it actually did make him look all that more handsome. She looked away at the thought. So what if he was? He was still completely opposite from her. It wasn't as though she was attracted to him, just that she found him slightly attractive. Yes, that was all, she thought, watching the fire once more. It was really nothing.

When asked about their customs, Jesilyn and the queen looked at each other, unsure at first of what to tell him about. The Elven people never thought of differences between cultures. "Well, as you know, we hold all life sacred, so the harming of anything is not allowed, be it animal or elf or plant. Not that I am expecting that of you, though." Jesilyn began, taking the lead, "Hunting and harvesting are done a certain way by certain people. Also, I'm sure the ones you worship are different. Here, we have a Faerie Goddess as well as a Stag God. So both the stag and faeries that you may meet while here are very revered, as they may be descendants of the God and Goddess." she said. He was likely to meet a stag while he remained in the kingdom, but Jesilyn was fairly certain the faeries wouldn't reveal themselves to the prince right away. "I am not sure there are many differences between our kingdoms, why don't you share some of yours and we can compare?" Jesilyn smiled, while the Queen sat next to her, impressed at her daughter's sudden socialness.

Lucien smiled a bit at his friend who sat behind the desk; he had no qualm with his friend behind his desk, but found humourous when he found himself on the side opposite what he was used to. He listened to Vincent speak and nodded in agreement, "I had a similar thought. Perhaps we will get lucky and the beauty of the country side will have a romantic effect that will seed some feelings for each other in each of them." he smiled. "Have you told your son anything about why you were coming here?" he asked, hoping he had done the right thing in keeping Jesilyn totally unaware of why the guests were visiting the castle.

Jack MacGaven 01-07-2010 09:48 PM

He too found himself looking at the other young Royal. Her face was so beautiful. But then again it wasn't quite like that they would get along all that well, right? His eyes moved back to his glass of blood before he began to look at an art piece had found, he couldn't help himself, his eyes drifted right back at the princess.

When she began to speak he listened and nodded slightly. He felt slightly offended at the statement that she didn't expect him to have respect of everything that came from mother nature. He had frowned slightly at it but listened to the rest of the story. He nodded to show that he was listening.
"Hmn, well I think you'd be surprised." he said as he stood up and walked over to one of the windows and looked out of it, thankfully the sun had began to set already, which was pleasant to his eyes. "We Vampires are very close to nature, however we are hunters. We'll kill to survive. At least, it used to be like that. At the present time we are more interested in medicine and economy. We don't ask Humans to offer us virgin girls any more, well we never had in the first place... Instead they are free to donate blood and work for us on the lands. We keep us busy with politics and so on to make sure that they won't die of poverty or that criminals take control." he stated before he returned to his seat again. "We only serve the God and the Goddess, The Father and Mother of all that is. We have a few unwritten laws, outside our normal Book of Laws. We use everything nature can give us, of course we're grateful and we have our festivals and offerings to our God and Goddess." he explained. His blue eyes had lit up when he spoke. Then he realised he had shown a lot of energy and enthusiasm just then, blushing he sat in his seat and sipped of his drink. So embarrassing...

Vincent smirked at his friend and nodded. "Good, no I haven't told him anything. Just that we were going to socialize with our neighbours." he stated before getting up and looked at Lucien. "Let's hope they fall in love, things will be easier then." he decided. "So tell me, what do you think about Jack, he turned out fine, didn't he?"

JessiFlakes 01-08-2010 03:58 AM

Jesilyn watched the prince with curious eyes as he began on a tangent. Briefly, she wondered what had caused him to say such things until she realized what had happened. She waited until he finished, however to point it out, and she did so with a smile, "You misunderstood me, your highness. I did not mean I expected you to harm anything or anyone. When I said 'not that I expect that from you', I meant to add that in as I do not expect you to disrespect the nature around us, but I do not expect you to worship it the same as we." she corrected, "That was my fault, and I apologize. When I was saying that, I did not think of how it could be taken." she smiled, looking at the floor as she attempted to hide her blush. She thought of the rest of his speech and continued smiling at his sudden enthusiasm for the topic. Maybe there had been more to vampires than she had originally thought.

She looked up, hoping she was no longer blushing, "So, you are interested in medicines? You might know elves have always been a race who mixes medicines out of herbs and the like found in nature. Do you do things like that as well?" she asked. At that moment, her mother excused herself from the room, claiming she needed to check on something 'speaking of medicines'. No doubt she was on her way to the garden to collect the things for Vincent's wife. Jesilyn nodded to her mother, smiling as she walked away. She took the pause to add another topic to the conversation, addressing something the prince had said, "The Faerie Goddess and Stag God are the mother and father of all. I could tell you the story of them sometime, if you'd like." she smiled slightly, "What are your unspoken laws, may I ask?"

Lucien nodded, "I didn't even tell Jesilyn that. I found myself unable to tell her anything but the truth, so I chose to tell her nothing at all." Lucien laughed, "Yes, yes he did. He seems as though he is still a bit rebellious though, with his silence. Maybe he just hasn't warmed up to us yet. He's a boy to be proud of though." he smiled. "And what of Jesilyn, do you say?" he asked, wondering how Vincent was taking to his daughter-in-law to be.

When she spoke that he misunderstood her he blushed deeper and averted his eyes, just like she had. He rubbed his head a bit before he face palmed himself. "I'm sorry too...I shouldn't have gotten to a conclusion like that so quickly." he said before he looked up at her. They were both at fault, so he too apologized, it was only polite, right?

He nodded at her questions. "Everything that can cure illness and injuries are at my interest. I know most of the plants in our region, but I'm sure there is much more to learn." he said before he chuckled. "I myself only read books about the subject." he said. "I'm not that useful, but I could save a few lives if I were on a battlefield."
As the queen excused herself Jack nodded kindly before he returned his attention to the princess again. He had a quite nice conversation with her. It surprised him actually. "Well then." he said and looked at her. "We have the law of three. Means that if you harm someone, you'll get it back in threefold. So, for example, if I would wish someone a running nose, I'll get a heavy flu for it back." he said. "Another one is that you shall never harm nature for selfish deeds." he explained. Then he chuckled. "You could say that we kinda live like Witches of Nature." Slowly he got up and moved over to the couch where her parents had been seated. That way he could hold a more quiet conversation with her. When he sat down he leaned over the armrest, toward Jesilyn. He then noticed that she was quite...beautiful.
"I, as you might have noticed, like art as well."

Vincent just snickered. "You are a very honest man." he said and patted the others back gently."Jack isn't rebellious at all. He's almost saintly at home." Vincent laughed. "Honestly, sometimes I'd wish he was rebellious." He did smile proudly, if Lucien told him his son was a fine man, then Jack truly was. "Jesilyn has grown into a very fine woman." Vincent agreed. "She has beauty and is very wise. I'm sure she'll be a great partner for life for our son." he nodded. "She's just what he's going to need."

Jesilyn smiled pleasantly at him, this time for real as opposed to when she had first lain eyes upon him, "We both misunderstood and misspoke. All is forgiven." she reassured him, giving a small, bell-like laugh. She had to admit, he was very polite... and he blushed quite a bit, she noticed when she looked up before it had the chance to vanish. She decided not to make a comment to them, not wanting to embarrass him more.

Jesilyn watched and listened with interest at his dabblings in medicine. It was something he and most elves had in common- except Jesilyn... Though she was interested in it, and desired to be able to mix medicines like her mother, she lacked the confidence and often made small blunders in the actual mixing. So, actually, much like the prince, all she had was theory from what she had learned. "Perhaps you should join me in my lessons and learn how to make some medicines." she smiled a bit, making the offer and meaning it. If he had such an interest, it might be good for him to learn. He couldn't learn the trademark medicines of the elves, but they could perhaps teach him the more basic ones.
She listened as he spoke of the laws, and before he mentioned it, compared it mentally to those of the witches, the Pagans, as some of them called themselves. She had heard of some of their rules and recited back to him, "'Ever mind the rule of three; what you send out come back to thee.' I have heard of the witches. I find that to be an excellent law, also." Jesilyn then laughed at the example he gave. "So, what were to happen should I wish you a happy life?" she smiled, wondering if it would catch him off-guard. She watched as he changed seats, moving closer to her. The move surprised her slightly. She smiled a little at the next bit of information he provided her, "Why yes, Prince, I believe I noticed that. What sorts of art are you particularly fond of, might I ask?" she smiled, leaning a bit closer as well.

Lucien only laughed at his own mistake at the correction provided, "Well, perhaps it is us then. In which case, I am sure he'll warm up to us in time." he smiled at Vincent, and beamed when he spoke of the other king's daughter, "Thank you. As you can see, her wiseness comes with having a mind of her own." he laughed a bit, wiping his brow and laughing once more, "though I believe she and Jack will be happy together, from beginning to end." he said, believing it were honestly true.

Jack MacGaven 01-08-2010 06:12 PM

The young male looked at Jesilyn and nodded sweetly. "Thank you." he said before he noticed her look at him. He knew she saw him blushing. He was embarrassed about it, but in the end he could hold the next blush in.

He smiled at her invitation to join her in her medicine classes. "That would be lovely!" he smiled and nodded. "At least, until we have to go home, that is." he stated. Finally he was sure the time he was going to spend here would be great! He was able to learn new things from his new, well, friend. At least he thought she was acting like a friend. He wouldn't turn down such a great opportunity. Making the medicine would be great, hopefully he got to know new plants and herbs as well.
When she mentioned the pagans he smiled. "So you know those laws?" he chuckled sweetly. Oh why was he acting like a teenager with a first crush?! He had caught himself at that and was worried something was wrong with him. He could not love an elf, she wouldn't understand his reasons and being. Besides, Elves were always so fragile, no way that an elf would survive a vampire mating-session.
When she asked that he was indeed caught off guard. Blushing deeply he looked at her. "You'll have a life three times more happy than me." he replied, trying to hide his blush by allowing his hair to fall in his face.
When she moved on he gladly looked up, the blush had faded but only lightly. "Ah, well...I like music and paintings best. However I enjoy all art forms. As long as the artist poured his whole being in the object then it's perfect." he stated. "I cannot look at a painting of sculpture of something the artist didn't want to do and made it half heartedly. But if his whole heart is in it, then it will touch me." he explained. "What about you?"

Vincent smiled. "She is the perfect in law. I'm sure of that!" he chuckled. They had fun, like old times. Smiling happily he rubbed his head. "We should get back. If they aren't sticking together next week, we'll tell them." he said. "They have to know it one day." The black haired man looked at his Elven friend and smiled. "Not to be impolite, but when are we having dinner?"

JessiFlakes 01-09-2010 02:20 AM

Jesilyn smiled, "Excellent! My next lesson is tomorrow, actually, you can join me then." she said, excited to have company now, especially during the class. She had not expected to feel that fondly of the prince, and she certainly had not been expecting to find a friend in him. Jesilyn had been so sure that he would be vile and intolerable that she almost missed the opportunity.

She nodded, "Yes, I know the laws." she smiled, brushing her hair from her face again. She then laughed, seeing his blush. She had caught him off guard, and though he seemed rather embarrassed, he was also fairly quick. She smiled at his answer, but tilted her head at him, "Well, that would be like me wishing myself a happier life than I had wished you. I wouldn't want to wish something like that." Jesilyn said, blushing a bit more. Feeling the heat rising to her cheeks, she took a lock of her hair over her shoulder and began playing with it- braiding it and unbraiding it, running her hands through it and twisting it back up. It was almost enough, almost.
Looking at him she laughed, "I know exactly what you mean! With a painting, for instance, if you pay an artist to do it, but they don't want to, whoever or whatever is in it looks so lifeless or lackluster. Some can be seen in sculptures the same way, or performing arts as well..." she found herself rambling. He was just that easy for her to talk to, which was a rare find for Jesilyn. "I love both paintings and sculptures as well, but also the performing arts, such as theatre." she smiled slightly. "There's nothing more thrilling than watching a story unfold before your eyes and see characters come to life..." she giggled slightly. "Have you ever seen a live performance?" she asked.

Lucien smiled, listening to his friend speak. He nodded in agreement: they would have to know. "We just have to be gentle when telling Jesilyn, she has a temper like no other I've ever seen..." he laughed a little, "Good thing it is not a short one." The next question took him slightly off guard, he had forgotten all about it. "I am not quite sure... The servants inform us when it is prepared, but it shouldn't be too long from now. Are you going to suffer through eating our food, or should I have something special brought in?" he asked, trying to find out which his friend would prefer.

Jack MacGaven 01-09-2010 11:25 AM

Jack nodded. "I'd love to!" he nodded, taking the invitation with a lot of enthusiasm. He couldn't wait to learn more! Usually other royals hated to learn, but Jack always found a way to fascinate himself on the subject. She wasn't all that bad! In fact she was very friendly towards him. It pleased him, of course.

He knew he had been found out by her. He coughed slightly in his hand to hide his obvious blush more. When he heard er sweet voice he looked back up at her. Chuckling he watched her playing with her hair. "You're very kind." he smiled. "You're very kindhearted. I'm sure you'll find true happiness in life and you'll find the love of your life quite fast." Jack smiled honestly before he rested back in his seat and crossed his legs again.
As their topic on art continued he smiled and nodded. "Exactly. It's a shame if artists are forced to paint something that they don't want to. If we have a family portrait painted we always ask the artists opinion. We have a few paintings with the three of us, but they are all lively." he smiled. "Thanks to the heart of the painter." he smiled. "Hey, why don't you come over to our kingdom sometime?" he asked her, yes he invited her. He wanted to show her his lands to her, just as a...culture exchange.
"I love to go to music concerts. I'd rather read the stories than to see them." He brushed back his hair and smiled.

Vincent nodded. "I'll leave Jesilyn to you." Vincent wouldn't try to communicate to that girl with such serious news. When the other looked shocked Vincent laughed. "You already saved us blood to drink. You don't have to adapt to our food completely! Just serve us some blood beside the course and everything will be fine." he said, patting the others back. "The last time we ate your kind of food, nothing big happened." he said and smiled. "Just don't expect us to eat that much." He then headed to the door, opening it and allowing his friend to walk out first. "Lets see how the kids are doing."

JessiFlakes 01-09-2010 06:41 PM

She was pleased to see the Prince so eager to learn. Most other princes, and princess, would rather sit back all day and be served than actually do something worthwhile. It could be fun having him in the class with her, too. So, that would mean everyone wins.

Jesilyn giggled at his obvious, and failed, attempt to hide the blush that graced his face once more. He seemed to be blushing an awful lot around her. Then again, she wasn't one to talk, as she was blushing then too. She left her hair fall over her shoulder, "T-Thank you.. I'm sure it will be the same for you. A girl would have to be out of her mind not to fall for you." she smiled slightly as she paid him this compliment, which she believed whole-heartedly.

She nodded, understanding, but before she could respond to the topic of paintings of his family portraits, he invited her to his kingdom. Jesilyn paused looking at him. She had barely heard what he had said about going to musical concerts and such, she was focused on the invitation. At first, it frightened her, the thought of going to the place where those undead horses came from.. but at the same time, it was where Jack and Vincent resided as well. And what Jack had told Jesilyn about it, she decided it couldn't be so frightening... She smiled a little nodding slowly, "I think I might like to visit your kingdom." she said simply. Jesilyn didn't want him to think she had spent all that time just thinking she might like it, so remembering what else had said, she added, "Well, sometimes it's nice to see a story. I love to read them as well, but to see the characters come to life, to see the emotion on their faces.. It's well worth while. but music is lovely as well." she smiled. How was it she could talk about something outside herself such as performances to easily, but to an invitation extended directly to her, she could hardly think of what to say at all?

The elf king nodded, "Of course, I jut hate to see her wrath..." he laughed, yet knowing Jesilyn could be quite the handful when she was upset. He moved onto the dinner subject, "I will relay that to the servants then. I'm glad nothing 'big' happened last time." he laughed, leading Vincent out of the room.

On the way, they saw the Queen peering into the room where they had left the children together. She heard their approach and placed a finger to her lips, over a smile. She had been watching the two for awhile. She walked to meet the kings a bit away from the door, "It's better than we could have hoped for. They're getting along perfectly, and Prince Jack even extended to Jesilyn an invitation to your kingdom, Vincent!" she exclaimed excitedly, placing a hand on her husband's. Lucien looked over to his wife and then to Vincent, "Well, how about that then?" he laughed quietly.

Jack MacGaven 01-09-2010 08:50 PM

At her comment that he too would not have any problem in finding love, he was caught off guard again. HE chuckled and rubbed his head nervously. "We'll just see about that." he said before he leaned towards her again. She really had caught his interest. As a friend of course.

Jack had just smiled at her small speech, he was happy that she would like to come. "Our doors are always open for you. Just make sure that you write before you come, so we can prepare ourselves." he had made cute little gestures with his hands while he talked. He was warming up to her, in fact, if they would stick around with one other for a few days, he would open up completely.
When she mentioned the theatre again he thought of it. "I'd like to see that one time though."he nodded, he would try many things. He chuckled softly. "I guess I'll be a big burden for you the next two weeks." he said. "If I'm being annoying, just tell me, okay? Sometimes I don't see it if people are annoyed by my presence." He was oblivious like that.

Vincent laughed as they walked. When he noticed the Queen peeking into the room he just stayed with Lucien. "He did?" he asked surprised. "Well then, I didn't see that coming. However, if she decides to come over, I want you two to tug along as well." another invitation. The black haired man just smiled widely. "That's great. Perhaps we won't have to do anything at all." he then just headed to the door and opened it, walking in on the two 'children'.

JessiFlakes 01-09-2010 09:42 PM

Jesilyn laughed at his disbelief, "I mean it! They would! You're quite intelligent, and charming. You are also quite handsome, if I might say..." she smiled a little, blushing, "And you're interesting, and not many royals are, to be honest..." she trailed off with a small smile.

Jesilyn smiled and nodded, "And to you as well are ours open. Much the same, if you could write first it would be much appreciated." she laughed a little, glancing down at her lap. She had a feeling that her writing to them she would visit would be more a courtesy then if he were to write the same to her. After all, his kingdom had other races in it, perhaps some elves... whereas her kingdom did not have vampires. She would need the time to prepare for his arrival more so than he would hers.
She laughed as well at his last statements, "As I've been told, you will not need to worry about me not telling you how I feel, Prince." she said, "I'm often more outspoken than I should be.." she admitted, as a sort of warning to him. "I think you'll love the theatre though. I really do." she smiled at him. He was so different from the boy that had gotten out of that carriage. She liked him... but only as a friend. He was certainly charming, and handsome, and intelligent, but she was also just that much out of her mind...

The Queen nodded at the question, excited. Lucien was about to answer the invitation when the Queen got there first, "vincent, did you think we would let her go alone and miss out on the chance to visit you and you wife?" she laughed lightly, similar to Jesilyn's laugh. The king and queen followed suit behind Vincent, rejoining the prince and princess in the room again.

Jack MacGaven 01-09-2010 10:07 PM

The rather young vampire just chuckled. "ah, thank you, so much." he said and chuckled. "For some reason I feel like I should be the one giving those compliments..." he whispered before he just looked at her. "You too are quite interesting and beautiful." He nodded.

Jack caught himself being a bit too interested in her however. He looked at her and nodded. "But that is natural." he said with a small smile. He would write her more letters, at least Jack figured. He liked her as a friend, so why not write her every two weeks or so? Just to tell her how things are and what had happened.
He laughed at her statements as well. "Ah, that's a good thing though. You're able to keep annoying men away like that." he winked at her. Of course he wasn't aware that he had actually winked at her. "Will there be a play somewhere within two weeks? I might just go and see for myself." he stated with a sweet smile.

THe man just laughed at the Queens statement. "Hahaha, no I didn't think that." he chuckled before he just sat down beside his son and gave him a firm pat on the shoulder. "I just really hope my dear will be alright by then." he sighed. Vincent was obviously worried about his wife and he had the right to be.
