Alice actually smiled when he showed his fangs, surprised at herself for doing so. For a moment, she toyed with false excuses as to what his issues were. Some sad boy who likes to file his teeth and call himself a vampire, drink fake blood, and try to scare poor little girls away. It were his quick movements and the door opening on it's own that gave him away and then she realized, it was no joke. Having suffered such a surprise as she did before, seeing the transparent boy with a chair going through him beneath the table and the strange one hiding in the pantry, it seems she had no more faints to many more fears left inside of her. She knew that he did not wish to kill her, because she imagined that if they wished to they would have a long time ago. So instead, she stood silently and watched. "But, you didn't lure me," she stated with a half smirk and releasing a small laugh. "As for curses, I never really believed in them. Or magic on the other hand. The village never had such books as yours, they were banned from the library," she said, smoothing out the front of her yellow dress before shifting her eyes back to him. "I'd say a vampire of some sort. But, I'm really not that scared. I can imagine if you really wanted to kill us by now, you would've. So there must be some human left deep down," she smiled, "And I suppose I should thank you for finally being truthful with me. There's nothing that I hate more than a mouthful of lies. Especially ones that can't be back up."
|
Vincent stared at her then laughed. He moved about as he thought then stopped and looked back at her. "You are not like the other humans who have come here before. No I was told to behave the house is getting a bad name and we don't want any more people just wandering to it and never returning. These books where in the village a long time ago I asure you. Yes I am a dreadful monster thanks to that old witch who cursed us. Just thinking of her makes me mad. " He looked at the top of the stairs then back to her laughing. "I have never been one to beat around the bush with things. I don't like playing games and I don't like people to come in my house uninvited. The others just want to play nice and hope you go away I am more direct. I know the others will have my head for this and letting you know the truth but that is fine." His face became softer as he looked at her. "Please don't go up the stairs of the other room and I don't know how much longer I can keep my urger to feed in check. So you may want to go else where or keep from me. I don't like this curse. I use to not be like this as the others didn't either. Before this I was the black smith for the town as you can tell." He looked at his works as he spoke. "What do you do? Tell me about the village now."
|
Willow rolled her eyes, "No... Because I just sound so much like I know where I'm going..." She chuckled at herself and shrugged, "I'll probably somehow find my way. You know where the kitchen is? Or wherever the food is kept? I'm kinda hungry. Well, not kinda--I'm hungry. I mean... Maybe I should stop. I tend to... Babble and talk a lot." she gave a sheepish smile.
Awesome... Somebody else. i'm not alone. I'm not going to die here... Unless he has no idea where he is either. Oh well. Someone's better than nothing, right? Ahem. Unless that someone is a serial killer. But I'm pretty sure he's not a serial killer. I think. I'm pretty sure. What would he be doing here anyways? She gave herself a mental scolding for thinking her thoughts. |
Alice held her hands together in front of her as she listened to what the boy had to say. A witch? Cursed? The thought of this lingered in her mind, although she pushed it to the side for the time being. "Well, you seem like you're doing a decent job as refraining yourself now," she stated almost matter-of-factually as she approached the staircase and took a seat on the third to the last step. "Well, from what I learned in school, the village never really expanded much in comparison to so many years ago. My mother and father own a farm, my siblings help with it but I never had interested in doing so. I began to work at an old dinner for a while, until I saved to money to buy my violin and flute. The village still goes about it's old ways. I couldn't tell you when they would have taken those books from the town but, I've been through the local and school libraries enough to know, nothing like that is there," she stated, her eyes glancing to the unique looking book, before they moved back to the vampire boy. "Maybe we can help you guys. Or at least, I will. There has to be a way for you to return to normal, or move on to eternity. I can't imagine you'd be stuck this way forever," Alice offered, turning her head to the side before adding, "I never introduced myself, my name is Alice."
|
Vincent gave her and not then a quick bow. " I am Vincent Zane Emrick. I doubt there is much you can do for us Alice. You are quite gifted with your instruments. It would be nice to have another person to play with after these years." He looked up the stairs as he dreaded telling the others he had told Alice the truth. "The others may not agree with what I have done, but it feels good to tell some one after these years. The books are not safe out in the public I assure you. If you want to try then I'll help you. Though I don't know how much I will be due to my urges. I try my best to keep them in check." He walked over to the cabinet and pulled out the book as he flipped it open studying its pages. "This is one of the few spell books that doesn't have deadly or tricks with the black magic."
Bree let out a yelp as she tripped up the stairs to the house. She moved to her feed as she brushed off her clothing. She open the door and walked threw it. She looked about the house noticing that it didn't look like it should. She moved slowly not wanting to fall again. She thought the girls were mean for telling her to meet them here. She didn't see anyone here. Bree stopped as she looked into one of the rooms seeing a boy there in it. She stared at him then her eyes shifted to the rest of the room. The room was filled with books. She stud there not sure what to do. The boy didn't look like he would hurt her bust why was he there. That thought kept running through her mind as she looked at him. |
Holden sighed. But then lifted his head, hearing the basement door close and latch. He cursed. He ran through the house in such a way it seemed like he was a few inches from dropping to all fours, brushing right past another girl. "Vincent!" he shouted when he reached the basement door, pounding on it with his fist. There was no doubt the vampire had let slip almost everything about them, five hundred years gave you a chance to get to know someone. "Vincent!" he called again. "...Play nice with the girl." There was no use putting it in delicate terms anymore. Holden's shoulders slumped and his face showed clearly his annoyance. He let out a growl that started soft and suddenly climbed to a louder range. Finally he realized he had just passed another girl on his way there. "He's her problem now, wandering little pup," he muttered, walking back to see if the other girl was still there. She was. "Are you lost? Or are you just here perusing all of our things on a dare too?" he asked sharply. The crazy things were multiplying.
|
Bree stepped back for the boy. She didn't like his pushiness or his outburst of anger. She wasn't sure if she should tell him. She closed her eyes as she gave him a slight bow. Her voice was soft and barley above a whisper. "I am Bree and yes I am here on the dare. Are the others hear yet? I just want to show them I came then I'll leave I promise. And please don't yell it isn't good for you or the person you are yelling at." Bree open on eyes as she looked at him hoping he wasn't going to hurt her or yell at her. She didn't like it when peopled yelled or talked loud. It hurt her ears and mad her want to run.
((0.o the door is open friend just so you know.")) |
Anthony looked surprised by her answer, though he allowed a tiny smile to flicker over his thin lips before letting it slip away again. Nodding, he gestured to the girl to follow him, careful to keep his distance.
"Firstly, Babbling makes you sound scared, even if you aren't, I'd work on that if I were you. Secondly, the kitchen is this way. There isn't much in there, you might find something if you're lucky. And thirdly, are you here on that foolish dare thing? You're the second girl I've seen in here." He listed off in a cold tone. No point in trying to be nice really, she'd be going once she'd completed the dare. That, and if she knew what he, or the others, were, she'd probably run off screaming into the forest all the way back to her village before telling them. No, not a good idea. He wouldn't speak to her much more then was needed, even if she did spike his curiousity a little. |
Holden raised an eyebrow and glanced around uncertainly. The fact that his hostility hadn't been returned threw him off guard. "How many are supposed to be coming?" he asked, his voice settling into a quieter, mellower tone. "As far as I know, two others are here." A deer, he thought. It's like walking up to a deer. Be as quiet and non-threatening as possible. "Excuse my yelling. You all came rather unexpectedly and it's...set me on edge a tad."
((I thought you said it latched closed. v.v)) |
Willow rolled her eyes, "Yeah, I've heard that one before. I mean about the babbling thing. Besides, it'd give me a better chance to sneak attack someone. Y'know. If they think you're scared, then they think you'll be easy to overcome... And then--BAM!--you aren't. And... What dare thing are you talking about? I just got lost. Y'know. Out exploring. Lost sense of direction. Actually, I don't have a sense of direction..." She shrugged, then turned to the kitchen, crashing into the wall.
"Aw crap. I gotta stop doing that." She jumped to her feet, "Oh well. Supports the fact that either I have to start actually watching where I'm going or that I'm just really clumsy. Of course it's not like that time I was walking home and nearly killed myself tripping over a twig..." she looked at the stranger, "I'm not boring you am I? You could just... Say something, y'know." |
Bree looked up at him as she open her other eye. She was happy he hadn't yelled or tried to attack her. She gave him a faint smile though she still spoke barley about a whisper. " I-I am sorry I didn't know people still lived here. I should have stayed at the flower shop. Please forgive my rudeness." Her gaze fell to the floor as she felt bad for intruding his space without permission. She should have ignored the girls and their bet but she wanted to fit in for a chance instead of standing out. It was strange she thought that he lived here but who was she to judge him. He acted the way he looked now she thought. He seemed like a wolf to her. A bit of a longer always watching and waiting. " I don't know how many the other girls invited on this...game of theirs. I figure just the ones they don't like or want to make fun of."
((Tis ok it also says that the door then open by it's self. )) |
Anthony raised an eyebrow as he glanced back to Willow. He shook his head slightly, though slowed down a little to show that he was still listening, even if now he stopped watching her. He couldn't help laughing quietly at her comments about sneak attacking and surprising people. She really did have a personality this one, definately not some wall flower. It was a surprise though, about the dare. So she'd just gotten lost? All the more amusing really. He'd turned to make some sort of remark, only to watch as she crashed into the wall. Well, that wouldn't have happened to him if he'd been in her position. More like walking through the wall to be precise. Smirking, he shook his head again.
"Has anyone ever told you that perhaps walking through walls isn't the best way to get into a room?" He questioned, mock innocence clear on his face. Pausing at her question, he looked thoughtful before letting his expression become very, very bored. "No, of course not, this conversation is riviting, it's keeping me hanging on the edge of my seat, I can barely stand still and contain my excitement." He answered in a dull tone. Anthony was able to keep it up for a couple of seconds before letting a smile flicker over his face again to show it was only a joke. Finally, he motioned to the half open door. There was no way he could touch it without passing through it after all. |
"Nobody does," Holden said with a sigh. "Noone thinks people do anyway." He took a step forward, wondering if she might start crying. This was a delicate one. "If..." he stopped himself. "...When you do leave, you won't tell anyone, will you? We don't want attention." He tilted his head. "Make fun of? Why would people want to send eachother to a dangerous place like this?" Then he froze, realizing the irony, and a small chuckle escaped his throat. It was a short, barking laugh.
((Ooohhh...heheh.)) |
Willow smirked and rolled her eyes, dusting the dirt and whatever else off her pants, "It'd be perfectly fine if I could walk through walls... Imagine all those brain cells I wouldn't have lost..." she chuckled at herself, "Sarcasm. Great thing. And I'm pretty sure that's some kind of comedy where you say something funny with a serious face..." She shook it off and swung open the door, "So, am I playing the gentleman here and you the lady? If so, ladies first." Willow swept her hand to the kitchen, then paused, "Unless you don't wanna go into the kitchen. Then that's all good too."
Wonderful. Stuck here with this guy? Maybe I should get out of here. What time is it? Dammit. Right. Don't have my watch on me. Where the hell are the windows in this place? ... And when was the last time it was cleaned? |
Bree looked up at him as she heard his bark like laugh. She stepped back as she stared at him. She felt the hairs on the back of her neck stand up as she felt a chill run down her spine. She shook her head as she was determined not to run. He was a strange one she would give him that but he wasn't mean like the others she had meet. She kinda liked him and his strange ways. She begin to laugh as she thought about how she had compared him to a wolf then his bark like laugh. "No I want tell anyone...if you like I could bring you some supplies from the village. Your home looks like it could use some tender loving care. By the way what is your name? If you don't give me one I'm going to call you wolf boy."
|
"It's been this way for years. But...you said you worked at a flower shop? They might be a nice distraction from the faded appearance of this place, I guess," he said with a smile. "I'm Hol-" he stopped and bristled, staring at her. After a moment he realized she was joking. He shook himself and coughed. "I'm Holden. Wolf boy huh? What has made you want to deem me that?" he asked innocently.
|
Bree looked at him then smiled. "Well it is nice to meet you Holden! What type of flowers do you like? I have just about any, though I think some of my ferns that I have may do nicely here. If you like I really will bring you things from the village I don't mind. My parents will be happy for me getting out of shop for a change. A coat of paint wouldn't hurt either...what color would you like." Bree looked about the place then shifted her eyes back to Holden as she finished taken note on what the house needed. Her face froze as she realized he had said the house had been that way for years it was strange for him to say that but she let it go not wanting to dwell on it. She spoke calmly as she eyed on of the books in the room. "Your nature and actions match that of a wolf. You are quite the loner aren't you. You have the same eyes that the wolves do. It is kind of scary when you first see them. Not because they come from one of the best hunters but because they seem to know everything." Bree moved closer as she picked up one of the fallen books on the floor of the room. She went to place when she saw the strange symbols. She glanced at the other books noticing the strange symbols. She quickly put it in it's place and stepped back and looked at Holden. "They are all spell books. How did you get them? My friend from far away has her own spell books she tried to teach me what each symbol meant but I failed. Never mind I don't want to know why you have them. I hope you don't use them nothing good will come from using them." She looked to the floor as the sadness she felt could be seen in her eyes. "I-I think I better find the others and go."
|
"Nice to meet you too," he beamed. "I think the wood in this place is lovely the way it is, aged," he said, rather fondly looking at the walls. He saw her pick up the book and almost completely forgot about her comment of his wolfishness. He looked at the book as though it might start snapping at him. He was a practical man and the fact that he had been trapped in a kind of magic was still nauseating to him. "They were here long before us," Holden said defensively. This girl was hovering on the verge of finding out what was going on and it frightened him.
|
Bree looked at Holden as she felt a bit uneasy. "This place feels like there is a evil presence here how can you stand it? Do you ever leave this place? I haven't seen you around the village if you have." She was trying to keep herself from running or to ponder on the books and his strange actions. She smiled bigger as she tried to prove to herself that she was fine and she was just scaring herself for no reason. She looked about the place as Holden had looking at the wood. Some of the things he said made it seem as if he had been in the house a long time and part of another time. She tried not to think about the books or his words but she couldn't help it. After a while she spoke up. "Holden how old are you? You are talking at times like you are from another time and as if you have lived in this house a long time. Wolf boy you are very strange indeed."
|
"There used to be. A supposed witch, or something. Um, the village isn't really where I belong," he answered, scratching his head. Her smile looked uneasy. And he could smell her fear. It made him antsy. His mouth had gone dry. "I'm eighteen," he said stiffly. Permanently, he thought to himself. "I guess it's just what happens when you live in a place like this, you start absorbing the feel of the place." He snickered. "I get that a lot." Thank god the full moon was...when was it? He took a step back and glanced at a faded calendar on the other side of the wall that had been used over and over again. The hair on the back of his neck stood on end. One night away. He'd have to pack tonight for the three day long torture ahead. He turned back to Bree quickly.
|
Looked to where Holden had been looking at. She couldn't really make out what it was. She shifted as she felt him grow stranger. She raised a brow as he talked. He was worried about something she could tell though she didn't know what. She looked to see if others had appeared to make him this way. After a bit she looked at him as she took a seat on the floor. "Your not telling the whole truth are you? You seem worried about something why?" She looked to the floor as she ran he fingers along the old wood then giggled as she enjoyed feeling the old wood.
|
As Bree seemed to get situated, Holden realized he was in for a long time of explanations. "You're right, I'm not telling you the truth. I doubt you'd believe it if I told you. There's just something I have to go through every once in a while that's rather unpleasant for me," he said, shifting his weight and leaning against the door frame. He seemed to look everywhere but Bree's face, a very uncharacteristic move for him.
|
Bree looked up at him as she rose a brow. "It seems I will be here a while Holden. Try me.?" Bree crossed her arms around her knees as she sat there. She hadn't meet someone so distant as Holden. She could tell he was in pain though he tired not to show it. He was like a book she thought. His cover may say strong and tough but on the inside his pages told another story. He did have those characteristics of a wolf she thought.Bree shuttered as a chill went down her back as she sat there. She looked to the spell books wandering why they would still keep the books. Her eyes shifted back to Holden as she saw him looking about the room. "What is your meaner half going to come out wolf boy? Do I need to run now or later." She gave him a slight smile as she laughed lightly.
|
Holden chose then to look her in the eyes. "Later," he said, with all seriousness. "These books did belong to a witch, Bree. Long ago. And she used their magic to do terrible things," his voice became hushed as he began recalling the night he and the others had been cursed. "We aren't human. None of us. We can't leave this place and we can't fix what's happened to us." It was hard not to get angry. He had been shunned by his own people and given a punishment that, as far as he was concerned, noone deserved.
|
Bree just looked at Holden. She wanted to believe that all he said was a lie but there was to much pain in his eyes for it to be. She looked to the books as she sat there. "W-Why would she do that? What did you do?" Her eyes shown with sadness then confusion. "If your not human than what are you? And who are us?"
