Serena's head and eyes snapped towards her other companions when she heard them and she moved to Ephraim. She placed her hand on his arm "calm down, it won't do any good to lash out like that. Just calm down, I don't know what it is, or what it does. Lashing out like that could actually do more damage than good. Please, just calm down" she pleaded. She never liked it when the raincloud was above him. She cared about him... he was her friend. She didn't want to think about if he was anything thing more to her, though she suspected he was... she didn't know if they'd survive to see the next day, nor did she know what his position was with her. But he'd been with her from the start, and she couldn't bear the though of him gone.

Kief turned to Akee as she began to scream. "Akee whats" he asked as he hopped over. Failling in front on her he placed his hands on her head to try and focus her eyes on him. "It okay! Calm down" he said talking in a calm voice. It seemed that something was wrong but he couldnt tell what.

Ephraim panted violently as he looked around for the voice talking to him. His breathing began drop once he felt Serena's warm touch and the downpour of the rain declined as he started to come to his senses. "What the hell is this thing? It hurts to move my arm too much," Ephraim said with pain in his voice. The cloud, even though small, still hung over the young man's head, but he took the arm that wasn't rigged with the metal object and put his arm around the wind-user. His feelings for the young lady was unexplainable and he didn't want to get the signals crossed between them. Once his arm enveloped Serena as best as he could and the remaining bit of the storm cloud dissapated.

Serena smiled and wrapped her good arm around Ephraim as well. She moved close to him and listened to his heartbeat. She wasn't aware of just how upset she was until she heard the gentle thump. She relaxed almost instantly, knowing he was alive. She brought her her right hand up and laid it on his chest as she curled against him. She felt safe in his embrace... safer then she has in a long time. She closed her eyes and simply listened to his heartbeat, willing her nerves to calm. They didn't... but she suspected that the butterflies were for another reason, other than being scared for her life.

Akee froze as she stared into Kief's eyes finding some strange comfort in them. She calmed down as she closed her eyes allowing herself to scan his mind as everything hit her at once. A small tear appeared from her closed eyes as it slid down her face. She remembered everything now the betrayal of her people and her journey with the others and even Kief. She open her eyes slowly as she stared back into Kief's eyes seeing more than she needed to from them to let her know she was not alone on the strange planet after all. "I...I...am sorry.....Thank you." She said as she wrapped her arms around him and hide her face in his shirt. She closed her eyes as she tried to fight the fear she felt there. Even with the others there she felt fear. Not fear for herself but for losing them. If she lost them she would have nothing left. She had no home to go to and no friends. Her friends she knew had been killed and so would the ones that had lived.

Ephraim was taken aback at the reaction that he received from Serena. Instead of recoiling from him like he thought she might, she moved closer to him. As she curled up against his chest, the human dynamo carefully raised his rigged arm and held her in a full embrace. A brief moment of taking in their encounter slightly confused the young man concerning their friendship. He hated being too far away from her, being protective seemed to be like second nature and she appeared to be the only that really cared about making his cloud of despair disappearing. Their relationship looked like they had known each other for years and someone who didn’t know would definitely assume such a thing. A small whisper formed into Serena’s ear as Ephraim spoke, “Thank you for keeping me calm. I really lost my head a few minutes ago.” Doing his best to examine hers, he murmured again, “How’s your arm?”
|
Serena smiled softly, a small blush form on her cheeks when she realized how wonderful his voice sounded when her ear was pressed against his chest. "You're welcome... I don't like seeing you upset. As for my arm... it's stiff. I don't know what it is, but I'm trying to ignore the pain. I've successful so far, it's only a dull roar. What about you?" she asked.
|
Kief liked the silence and how it felt to be around Akee. "Are you okay" he asked pushing her back to search her body for wounds, but stopped as he saw the device on her arm as well. Seeing it made him both angry and scared at the same time. "Look-" before he could continue the Dragon awoke and quickly turned roaring at the empty cars.
"What is it" Kief asked looking down the street to see the aliens running towards them http://rds.yahoo.com/_ylt=A9G_bDkVZ4...r_alien_01.jpg http://rds.yahoo.com/_ylt=A9G_bDkVZ4...r_alien_04.jpg http://rds.yahoo.com/_ylt=A9G_bDkVZ4...r_alien_15.jpg http://rds.yahoo.com/_ylt=A9G_bDkVZ4...r_alien_12.jpg |
When Serena heard the dragon roar, her head whipped up and she saw the aliens. She moved closer to Ephraim, suddenly wishing even more to be in his embrace. She opened her mouth to say something, but found herself paralyzed with fear. Her eyes welled up with tears and she quickly buried her face into Ephraim's chest... anything to escape reality. She was trembling slightly from the fear. She'd always been afraid of the aliens, because she knew that they could easily kill her. She was so scared, in fact, that her emotions ran wild and the wind around them picked up, moving quickly. She had no control over it.

Ephraim ignored everything around him that wasn’t in the invisible bubble that held him and Serena together. Her scent filled his nostrils as he kept her close to his chest and a smile broke out as a result. The sullen bags under his eyes seemed to disappear when his friend mentioned her opinion about him being upset. He apologized again, whispering in her ear, “I’m sorry. It’s just having this thing in my arm and the fact that I can’t get it out of my arm that is really bugging me. I sound really selfish right now.” Looking down at Serena’s arm, Ephraim blew on it gently, hoping that it would be helpful in some form. Her question wasn’t a hard one to answer, but he didn’t want to feel as though he was the main subject. So he kept his answer short, “It’s fine.” The young man rested his head against Serena’s, feeling slightly exhausted even after just waking up.
Ephraim lifted his head when he heard the dragon roar and Kief shout. His eyes widened considerably as he watched the horde of aliens charging toward them. Looking up at them, then down at Serena, a protective emotion welled up in him and he placed her behind. Then the winds began to pick up and Ephraim knew what was going on. “Serena, it’s okay. Just relax, I promise I will keep you safe,” he shouted. The human battery growled and fired a ray of lightning at a row of them. |
At the sound of Ephraim's voice, the wind calmed considerably. However, it picked up again shortly after that. She trusted him, but that didn't mean she wasn't scared. When Ephraim shot the lightning at the aliens, she was pushed into reality and she closed her eyes, concentrating. Slowly, but surely, a small tornado formed, growing in power as time passed. She fought to keep her emotions in check because if she didn't, the tornado would not be controllable and it would hurt her friends. She clutched Ephraim's shirt with her hand and moved closer to him. His presence always calmed her.

Akee turned as her eye's widen. She open her massive wings as she wrapped her arms around Keif in a protective manner as her wings arched around them in a protective stance. She kept her eyes on the strange beings as she tried to find any hint of water around them to use to their defense. Her eyes shifted to the others as a slight smile appeared on her lips seeing Ephraim and Serena. That is how it should be she thought feeling a slight pain knowing that it was her peoples fault for all the pain and loss of life on this planet. Though if there was a glips of hope as she had just saw for the ones left to keep the traits and values that made them one of a kind then there was hope that not all was lost after all.
"We can defeat them together Keif. I think the others will be able to help. Together as a team we are a force." She said hoping to give him some words of encouragement. She was tired but not to tired to defend the ones she had learned to care for. |
