The four nations live in harmony. At the center of the map is a neutral area that belongs to all four nations. This city controls most diplomatic matters between the nations, and is also home to a school for benders from all four nations. The school is very prestigious, and only very talented, driven benders can get in. This is where we set our scene... -Elemental Academy- http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/g...s/02006049.jpg -Modern Gaipan- http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/g...ages/Tokyo.jpg |
Melia sat in the lunchroom of her school. She was surround by the most popular of school. Yet she was only sitting with them because the flocked to her, being a grandchild of Avatar Aang, and Katara she was instantly popular. Now of course she was a great great great and so on grandchild of them. Yet she was very prideful in this fact, she was also one of the strongest water bender's of the school. Adian was currently on one of the many practice areas of the school. He was working on his fire bending skills. He wanted to be the strongest bender at the school. Yet he still couldn't make blue fire, lighting or redirect lighting. All he could do was bend red flame, and to the other fire benders it made him weak, the laughed at him, they had no idea how he had gotten into the school. [[Is that ok?]] |
{That's great!}
Taiyo was at the top of his class. His life was firebending, and truthfully, he didn't care about much else. Even though the world had moved on since the Great War five hundred years ago, the scars were still there. As a talented firebender, people often stayed away from him. To Taiyo, friendship was something that lazy people had to make themselves feel better about lacking in other areas. Nothing was more important than fire. Nothing, except... He glanced over at a table full of kids, laughing and talking together. A pretty girl with long, dark hair was the center of attention. He sighed, paid for his lunch with the swipe of a card, and headed out to the courtyard to eat. --- (I'm going to wait a bit to start my other character, if that's okay with you.) |
[[ That's fine. I'll then bring my other guy in later.]] Melia was annoyed, she glanced around the lunchroom. That's when she spotted Taiyo, she looked over at one of the earth benders sitting with her. This earth bender seemed to know everything about everyone in the school. Melia asked her who he was. " That's Taiyo, the strongest fire bender at this school" She told Melia. Melia nodded, and the others started talking. She was getting annoyed. " Ok, that's it, I need space" She shouted. She pushed past her so called friends, and stormed outside. |
{Yeah, thanks - It's easiest to focus on one character at a time!}
Taiyo saw the girl he'd seen earlier storming out of the crowded cafeteria and laughed. "Cool it," he called out to her. He was used to fire benders getting angry, but most of the water benders at this school tended to be much calmer. Either something had been done to really piss her off, or she was different. He kept chuckling, waiting to see her reaction. |
[[ Yes, yes it is]] Melia turned to glared at him, if she was a fire bender, she would have had fire in both hands. " DON'T TELL ME TO COOL IT" She shouted at him. She then turned back around, and kept walking off, mumbling about annoying wanna-be's and stupid fire benders. |
Taiyo finished his lunch and ran after her. He had nothing better to do... Why not bug a popular water bender? She seemed to have everything he didn't. Might as well have fun with it...
|
She was still stomping off, she pushed past many students, who went to respond to her, but when they saw who she was they backed off. That just made her angry. |
Taiyo decided to wait until she was more isolated to bug her. He didn't want someone to give him trouble... He knew exactly who she was, even though she probably didn't even know his name...
|
Melia got to a hidden water oasis on the grounds. She was the only one who knew of the location from what she had gathered. She sat on the ground in front of the water. |
Taiyo followed Melia, noticing that she was going somewhere he'd never been before. Where were they? He'd never seen this on the school grounds.
Ick. He was surrounded by water. Sure, it was pretty, but if they got into a fight, he was done. "Hey," he said, purposefully trying to startle her. |
She layed down on the grass. " Yes Taiyo?" She asked. Looking up at him, she wasn't stupid, she knew he was following her. |
A wicked grin that had been fighting its way out appeared on Taiyo's face. "You know my name?"He raised an eyebrow and feigned humility. "Ah, Princess of Our School, how you have graced me with your knowledge of my name!" He bent down, pretending to curtsy to her, making fun of the girls who followed her around. Inside, he was burning with jealousy and loathing.
|
" I'd be careful, unless you want to go swimming" She said with a dark glare. She looked away from him, she hoped he would leave her alone. This is why she hated this school and the people here, they either all wanted to be her friends because of her family's fame, or they hate her. |
Taiyo realized he was not in a good position to pick a fight, so he stopped mocking her. "Sorry," he mumbled. As his rage cooled, he became embarrassed. This is why people stay away, he thought. "It's just that..." His voice trailed off. He wanted to explain, but he realized it would seem too much like an excuse for being such an ass. "I shouldn't have bugged you," he said. "I can tell you're having a rough day - That was cruel of me." He sat down next to her, trying for a truce.
|
" It's fine, I shouldn't expect you to treat me kindly. I'm the reason that someone of your talent is ignored" She responded. She glanced over at him, she knew it was true, if her family wasn't famous, no one would really care, he would be the popular one. |
"No," he said softly. "I'm the reason I'm ignored... I'm not talented. I'm skilled. I work, all the time, and I never have the time or patience for friends. My family would be shocked to see me sitting here, talking to someone else... Friendship is regarded as weakness by them." He looked at her. "Honestly, there's enough room in this school for more than one popular kid. But I've blown my chances for such. People stay away from me because I act like I hate them. And I do, in a way...I'm insanely jealous."
|
" I don't understand. In a way I do, but then I don't" She told him. She couldn't understand how someone family could think friendship was a weakness, heck all her family talked about was doing the right thing, and having friends, and all that stuff. |
Taiyo sighed. "I wouldn't expect you to." He stood up and started walking away.
|
Melia sat up," It' not that I don't want to understand, I do really. It's just confusing, the way we were raised is different. I'm sorry" She told him. |
"Oh?" he said. "And how exactly were you raised?" He was interested.
|
" My family is all about, love, friendships, helping other, personal strength doesn't matter, it's the strength of a group that does. " She told him. She hated they way her family thought, cause no one cared about helping her, they just wanted her fame. |
Taiyo was shocked. "People really... Think that way?" He knew that people often feigned caring for others because it made them seem nicer. "You mean, people don't just fake it to gain power?"
|
Melia looked at him with wide eyes," No they don't, how else did you think Avatar Aang, his friends defeated the evil of that time?" She asked him. She couldn't believe that he really thought that. |
Taiyo couldn't help it, he just had to laugh. "I don't believe in evil. There's the side that wins, which is always labeled 'good.' And the side that loses is always labeled 'bad.' I mean, if you look at our map, the Earth Kingdom controlled over half of the world before the Great War."
