Riza shook her head a little in exasperation before casting Mustang a warning look. He had better not respond to that... |
Quote:
"Oh, really?" Mustang began, suppressing a chuckle. He was complete oblivious to Hawkeye's warning look. Then, in a lewd voice, he added, "May I see?" Devi blushed, both at the content of their conversation--which she somehow caught on to--as well as the disapproving looks given by the other people seated in the theater. They glared at both couples and muttered to themselves, making her feel somewhat self-consious. She never was much for too much attention. Covering her face in embarrassment, she pouted and used her elbow to nudge him a bit roughly in the side. |
Quote:
Hawkeye heaved a great sigh, shaking her head in disbelief of the immaturity of both men. Without a second thought, she raised her hand up and swatted Mustang in the back of the head again. "I think it's time to leave," she said dryly. Quote:
"Ow..." Havoc gave Devi a look of injured innocence. "What was that for?" |
Quote:
For the second time that day, Roy grabbed the back of his head and gaped, looking at Riza. He closed his mouth and frowned, knowing full-well what he had done wrong. He wasn't that dense. He sighed, hanging his head in defeat as he nodded his consent. If they continued on like this for too long, the entire date might really be a lost cause. At least if they left, he might find some way to redeem himself. Quote:
Devi looked up at him, her face flushed pink in embarrassment. She fought the urge to feel guilty for ruining his fun and narrowed her gaze at him, jabbing her thumb in the direction of the other people in the theater. Multiple eyes were one them, their disapproving looks making her awfully uncomfortable. "They're staring," she whispered, glancing nervously at them. |
Quote:
"Yea-ah... let's go," he said, grinning in an embarrassed way, before rising up from his seat and following the others out. |
Quote:
Mustang followed suit, standing up after Riza and inching down the aisle. He was beginning to doubt his abilities with women. Scratch that. He knew he could make a good impression on other women, but Riza was another thing entirely. He might actually have to work at it... Quote:
Devi stood as well, keeping close to Havoc as they left, fearing the angry retaliation of the audience. She walked quickly behind him, even clutching the back of his shirt subconsciously as she nervously glanced around. "What are we going to do now?" She asked in a hushed tone as they exited the theater. |
Quote:
"That depends," Hawkeye said, crossing her arms tightly over her chest as she gave the two men a meaningful look. "Do you think you two could behave yourselves?" Havoc glanced over at Mustang before looking back at her. "I can," he said, "although I don't know about the general here." |
Quote:
Then, in a low mutter, he added, "You were the one who started it in the first place, Lieutenant." "Well, I won't argue. Dinner sounds fine to me. I think I could go for something to eat," Devi replied thoughtfully. She then looked back over at Havoc with a accusing look, a smirk playing on her lips, as she added, "As long as you behave, that is." |
Quote:
"Yes, but you didn't exactly refrain from acting out either, Roy," Hawkeye told him, giving the general a stern look, although there was the ghost of a smile upon her lips. Embarrassing or not, she had found the general's actions somewhat amusing. Quote:
Havoc grinned sheepishly at her. "So, uh, anyone have any ideas?" he asked. |
Quote:
"No..." Roy sighed, adorning the look of a scolded child. He looked up at her apologetically and added, "It won't happen again." Quote:
"You guys probably have a better idea than I do," Devi replied, shrugging her shoulders. "I have a place in mind," Roy announced, adorning his jacket. "It's not too far from here, within walking distance." |
Quote:
Havoc unfolded his own jacket, noticing that it was a bit colder outside than it had been when they had entered, before pausing, looking over toward Devi. "Are you cold?" he asked, offering her the jacket. |
Quote:
Relieved that Riza wasn't completely upset with him, Roy smiled back warmly. He extended his arm to her and replied, "Alright, then. Follow me." Quote:
Devi was about to say "No" when a quick breeze blew past, causing her to shiver. She looked up at him and nodded, smiling meekly while replying, "Maybe just a little bit. But won't you be cold?" |

Devi smiled appreciatively as she slipped the jacket on, pulling it tightly around. It wasn't surprising that it was a bit large on her, considering Havoc's stature and all, and she found the flopping sleeves somewhat entertaining as she moved her hands. Walking close to him, she took his left arm captive and wrapped both of hers around it. She looked up at him and replied sweetly, "This is much better. Thank you." Mustang, pleased that he still had a chance to save the date, walked at a moderate pace towards a local restaurant. It wasn't extraordinarily fancy, but it was quaint and the food was more than delicious. He hoped that a good meal, and civilized conversation, would help revitalize the mood. Stopping at the entrance, he pulled open the door and inclined his head in a gentlemanly manner to Riza. "After you," he said with a charming smile as he waited for her to enter. |
Quote:
"No problem," Havoc replied, smiling down at her and feeling rather pleased by his own thoughtfulness. He hadn't figured it would work out this well. Quote:
|
Roy turned and waited for the others as well. He was tempted to step inside himself, make Havoc open the door himself, but he had promised he'd behave...
Once the other two had made their way into the restaurant, Mustang stepped in and closed the door, taking his place at Riza's side once more. He spoke to a waiter, informing him of their group size and seating preference. They were seated promptly and given menus, ordering not too long after. After some time... Crossing his utensils over his empty plate, Roy sat back in his chair and let out a soft, sated sigh. He looked around, noticing that everyone else was finished as well. Smiling at Riza, he inquired, "What do you think? Was it any good?" Devi, also finishing her meal, mimicked Mustang's actions and crossed her fork and knife over her plate. She then wiped her mouth with her napkin and sat back in her seat, folding her hands in her lap. "Any ideas on what to do next?" Mustang asked, giving the group an inquisitive glance. |
Quote:
"It was delicious," Riza told him, dabbing at her lips with a napkin before folding it neatly and setting it besides her plate. Sitting back in her seat, she smiled warmly at the general, her hands folded demurely upon her lap. Quote:
"Ah... well... it's still pretty early... I know of a nice pub nearby," he said a bit awkwardly, hoping that it wouldn't seem tasteless to suggest going to a bar. "We could play darts?" |
Quote:
"Darts, huh? I've never played. Actually, I haven't been to a pub before either..." Devi replied honestly. "Either way, it sounds good to me." "I don't know about darts, but a drink after a good meal sounds fine to me," Roy replied. He turned his gaze to Riza, looking for approval. "What do you think?" |
Quote:
Havoc decided then that there was no way he was challenging Hawkeye to a game of darts... still, it would be fun to see Devi try. After asking the waiter to place the meals on two separate tickets (Mustang and Havoc, in true gentlemanly fashion, paid for their dates), the two couples stood, collecting their coats, before starting back outside into the night. Offering his arm to Devi, the lieutenant led them down the sidewalk at a deliberately slow pace, rather enjoying the walk. After they had went a few blocks, he paused, nodding toward a small yet decent-looking establishment across the street. "Here we are," he said, smiling at the others. |
Quote:
Devi smiled excitedly, eager to have yet another new experience. She started forward, still holding onto Havoc's arm, and headed towards the door. Turning back to him, she grinned and asked, "So what's a pub like? What is there to do in them? Just darts?" Mustang started after the other couple, leading Riza alongside him as well as they headed towards the pub. He couldn't help but feel that they weren't on equal playing fields. He felt more like the father figure, Riza being the mother figure, watching two excited kids run about. |
Quote:
Riza glanced around. She didn't visit bars too often so she didn't have much experience in the matter, but this one didn't seem too bad. Looking over at Mustang, she smiled and asked, "So what would you like to do?" |
"Really? They smoke a lot here? Oh..." she replied, slightly less than pleased by the idea. Devi wrinkled her nose slightly as they entered the bar, her eyes watering somewhat as the scent stung her senses. She eventually became used it, following Havoc further into the bar scene. Looking around, she took in the sights and all of the new things. "There's so much to do! Are drinks...good? And will you teach me what these billiards are?"
She paused, taking a moment to catch her breath. Then, continuing, she added, "Oh! But first, could you teach me how to play darts?" Quote:
"Well," Roy began slowly, walking in beside her, "you said something about darts. I'd like to see that." |
Quote:
"Yes to both," Havoc replied, giving her an amused smile. "Although I'd take them in moderation. Err... the drinks. I'd take the drinks in moderation." At least, the first time she drank them. Quote:
"Sure," he replied, leading her over to the dartboard. It was hanging over a small shelf upon which set several darts- some that were red, and some that were blue. He collected all of them, holding a red dart in one hand and the rest in the other. "I'm not too good myself," he said as he started back over towards her, a crooked grin on his face. "Why do you think the general wears an eye patch?" Quote:
|
Quote:
"Moderation. Got it," Devi repeated to herself, determined to make the most of these new experiences. She had some background info on the topic, having overheard her fair share of soldiers reminiscing about bars and hangovers. She knew the basics, but had no first-hand experience of her own. Quote:
Devi cringed, subconsciously bringing her hand up to guard her eye as she replied, "A-are you serious...? Maybe you should just teach me how to play billiards then..." Quote:
"Please!" he replied, forcing a laugh. "If I were injured every time you screwed up, I'd be dead by now." |
Quote:
"Do you still want to learn?" he asked, holding the dart out toward her. "Or we could try the billiards. I don't mind either way." Quote:
Havoc seemed to notice that he'd misfired with the joke about Mustang's eye and grinned disarmingly before giving a small laugh of his own. Riza breathed a indiscernible sigh of relief, glad that the lieutenant had had the sense to allow Mustang the final word. She looked up at him, smiling warmly. "Let's do something else. Just you and me." |
