Serenity sat behind the counter as she read a gaming magazine waiting for the one kid in the store to pick out the game he wanted. She knew that there would be a new worker coming in that day and couldn't wait to meet him. Serenity loved meeting new people. and she would be talking to everyone at school, if she didn't have all her friends around her 24/7.

He walked into the gamestop to find it utterly empty and a girl behind the counter. "Hi, I am the new worker my name Is Lucian." he looked at the girl and smiled waiting for her to look up from her magazine.

Serenity looked at the boy that walked in. Her eyes glanced over him, at least all that she could see for the moment. She gave him a smile. "Hi. My name is Serenity. You can come back here," she set the magazine down and moved somethings off of another chair and put it near hers for him. "Is this your first day?" Serenity asked as she sat back down in her chair.

"Yeah it is but its not my first time in the store. I own almost every system you could think of." Lucian smiled at her, woah whats a babe doing here. "You look familiar you wouldn't happen to go to the high school right around the corner would you?" he asked her.

She kind of laughed when he said he owned all the systems. "Ya. That's the highschool i go to. do you go there as well?" Serenity looked the boy over again to see if he might be someone she knows, but he didn't look too familiar. then again, she does see very many different faces around the school. and a lot of the times, she is surrounded by her friends that she doesn't really see anyone at all.

"Ya im in one of your classes i think its english." he said looking back at her. She is even prettier than i thought he turned slightly red at this thought. "Wait your really popular why are you working at a geek and nerd haven?"

"really? I don't remember seeing you in my english class. where do you sit?" she asked him. then in responce to his question, she answered, "i love video games. I also want to learn digital animation in college. I would love to create the games that i love to play!" she smiled brightly.

"I'm the one that is always in the back corner near the windows and I'm there before anyone else because i have study hall right before that in the same room." He smiled at her enthusiasm, "so what games do you like to play?"

"really? hmm. I always go in with a group of friends...."
She paused for a moment thinking about what games were her favorite. "I really like Mario. Liked it since it first came out with Nintendo," she kind of laughed at that then went on, "I like a lot of fighting games. Dynasty Warriors, Dead or Alive, Halo's pretty fun. But i don't own an xbox so i don't really play it. I like Kingdom Hearts too. it's cute."

"I like the tekken games." out of the corner of his eye he watched the little kid pocket some ds accessories as well as a brand new 360 game. Lucian got up and stood at the entrance of the store looking down at the little kid. "Could you please put back the merchandise that you took off the shelves without paying for."

"that game is fun as well," she watched Lucian get up and stand in front of the door.

The boy glared at him, "I didn't steal anything!" he practically yelled back.

Serenity stood up and picked up the phone, ready to call the cops if the kid tried to get away.

"We have a security camera right there" Lucian said calmly pointing directly to it and it was pointing right at the boy. "I am pretty sure that if we look at it we will find that you stole two sets of styluses and one 360 game." still keeping a calm tone looking now over to serenity while the boy was looking at the cam mouthed call the cops.

Serenity started dailing 911.

the boy got scarred. he pulled the things out of his pockets and handed them over to Lucian. small tears rolling down his cheaks.

Serenity stopped dailing and pressed the down on the "hang up" thing (sorry. not sure what it's called....).

"Thank you for returning the items. Where is your mother?" he looked at the kid.

"sh.... she's.... at a... different store...." the boy sniffled in between each word.

"Well does she know that your here?" as he said this he handed the items to serenity and knelt down to be on the boys level.

Serenity took the things and put them back where they belonged.

"yes. she'll be back to get me..." the boy answered.

"here why don't you play some games till she arrives and i promise i wont tell her ok." he then took the boy over to the 360 and then sat back behind the counter. "So is work always this fun?" he asked her.

Serenity slightly giggled at the "fun". "No.... most of the time theres no one in here until later. sometimes not at all. I'm truely amazed that the store is still open. but i guess it comes from all of the holiday shopping. you know?"
Then she added, "You're really good with kids. do you have a sibling or is this natural?"

"I'm an only child so i would have to say that its natural." He looked at serenety and smiled. She is beautiful and with this thought he blushed. "It will be a shame if it does close because the next closest is 30 miles away and i wouldn't be able to see you alone like this."

Serenity's face turned a light shade of pink and she looked away just in time to see the boy's mother walk in. She smiled to the woman and watched them leave.

"So now that we are alone." he looked at her and winked "Hahaha im only kidding, a popular girl like you shouldn't date a guy like me. It would hurt your reputation."

Serenity looked back at the boy. she gave him a look that said "reputation?" then she stated, "I didn't choose to be popular dear. When i changed schools, everyone decided they had to be friends with me. I don't mind. I love meeting new people and making friends. I just don't get to do it that often because of everyone being around me all the time...."

"Oh i didn't know that you had moved here since you were so popular." He looked at her differently now. He then took her hand and kissed it softly "please accept my apologies, i had no idea that you didn't chose to be popular."
