(thanks so much and lmfao That is funny. She left her coat there though ><)

Jax woke up to bright sunshine in his eyes. He moaned and blinked so he could figure out exactly where he was this time. He sat up. He looked around him with a frown. He noticed a jacket drapped over his lower body and stared at it for a moment. It seemed familiar. He wondered whose it was.

He stood up and stretched. He put the coat on. It was nice and went down to his ankles. It would work till he got home and got some clothes. He walked slowly down the path. It didn't bother his feat because he was a werewolf. He was always running around bearfooted. He made it to the villiage quite easily. He ran to his butcher shop and went upstairs. He got dressed quickly and then sat on his bed staring at the coat. It belonged to someone. He wondered if that person knew he was a were.

He headed downstairs and got ready to open his shop. He prepared all of the meat and turned on the open sign. It was time to concentrate on work. He would worry about the jacket later.

((^-^ Giving a reason for her to go and get it baaack~! ))

By about noon Layla was done once more with business and had closed up shop. She'd been reprimanded by Jared Simins, the rescue squad organizer and the local law department all rolled into one beefy mountain of a man upon her return. She'd been gone too long again and he'd been about to send out the call for another search party. It had also been made official to her that the timing for when he'd send out another search party would be lengthened so she'd have two days in order to roam around. Plus, he'd given her a new cellphone, out of his own pocket, for emergency uses only. It had a high frequency, and a very strong satellite connection too.

Closing up shop, she sighed tiredly and rubbed her eyes as she headed for the kitchen to find something to eat. There, she found out that she needed to buy some groceries, so, tucking a bunch of things to trade for food into a newer and slightly less battered basket, Layla got dressed into a pair of jeans, another peasant blouse, this one white, and re-tied up her hair in the small fabric clips. Once that was done she headed for the door and the main street where the vegetable sellers, fruit vendors and....yes, the butchers shop was located.

It took less than thirty minutes before she was done with the first two places, having loaded up on fruit and vegetables that she couldn't get from her farm in the mountains, and then she was opening the door to Jax's butcher shop and looking around. He always had an impressive supply of meat, and it was a mystery to everyone there how he got it all in since no one ever saw a delivery truck or something. True he did appear to go hunting, but he'd never invited anyone to go with him and none of the other men who hunted in the town ever saw him with a gun either. 'Well, now I know...not that I'll be rude about it of course...' After taking a look at some venison, she chose a small roast of it and looked around for him with a tiny smile on her face.

(of course lol)

Jax was just relaxing in the back when he heard someone in his shop. He grinned. He went out to the front and when he did he stopped short. He looked at the coat he had under the main counter and sighed. He now remembered where he had seen it before. THis woman had worn it. He had seen her in it many times when she was shopping. He went to the counter really fast and picked up the coat. He walked over to her and handed it to her.

"I beilive this belongs to you. I found it."

He wasen't sure just how much she had seen. He wanted to know so bad but was not quite sure how to say it.

The abrupt, not rude or mismeaning, way that Jax approached her made Layla blink. Looking down at her coat in his hand she took it from him lightly before she looked him in the eye again boldly. She never had had any issues with looking Jax in the eye ever since he'd come to Moonfall, for some reason she hadn't felt the need to look away or anything like the other grown women most times did.

"Thank you. Found it did you? I'd hope so since I left it over your...erm...yeah. I was a little afraid to wake you up after your rather.....painful experience this morning.... I was also rather uncertain how you'd be when you woke up so I left. How much would you like for this roast?" Keeping her tone of voice neutral, Layla lifted the roast with her free hand and tilted her head slightly. She had more she wanted to say of course, but they were currently in a slightly public place and she figured he wouldn't appreciate his 'condition' being broadcasted around the village if a person walked in while they were talking. To be honest, she was almost ITCHING to know more about him and his....doggy problem, but she wasn't about to just barge into the back of his shop like some kind of madwoman or something, she DID have some civilized-ness to her!

He looked at her a moment. He knew there was more she wanted to say. He frowned a moment. He hoped she wasent planning on blackmailing him. He figured it would be worth it to discuss this with her so he walked to the front of the store and locked the door. He looked at her as he turned off his open sign.

"Free if you follow me."

He headed upstairs slowly. He tried to think of exactly what he was going to tell her. It was a bit complicated. How do you explain your a werewolf to a human female? How do you beg her to not blackmail you or tell anyone without risking your dignity? He didn't even remember what happened while he was a wolf. Apparently she was not harmed so he must not have attacked but it left him wondering what exactly he did do.

Well. She never turned down something if it was free! Layla nodded, watching him warily as he locked the door and turned off the sign. When he headed for the stairs to his upperfloor home she followed at a slight distance, not entirely sure what he planned. If he wanted to kill her to protect his identity then he'd have the whole town come down on his head and Moonfall did NOT treat murderers kindly. Murderers and thieves.

When they got to the top of the stairs she looked around his home and smiled slightly. It practically screamed Bachelor Male. In capitals. It didn't bother her much though, she was more interested in what he had to say, if anything since he looked so pensive she felt tempted to poke him in the ribs or something to get his attention. She didn't though, it'd be both rude and if he was what she thought he might be then it was pretty much a guarantee that he'd be faster than her in catching her if she made him mad and tried running away.

When he didn't speak up after a few moments, she did so to try and break the ice. "So....you can say this straight out and let me know if I'm crazy, but last night I was gathering herbs and food for my shop and pantry when I met this very big, very menacing grey-black wolf. It acted really scary at first and to be honest I completely expected to become it's dinner. However....I guess I kinda DID go insane. I yelled at it after it growled at me one too many times." She offered a slightly embarrassed laugh at that then continued. "Well.....things carried on like that for a time and somehow or other we ended up...I dunno, friends is a big word....agreeable with each other. So, I started to pick up some things that I dropped, it helped me out and then all of a sudden....well, it looked like he was in pain and then this where I think I went absolutely insane; I swear I saw him turn into you."

Jax watched her closely as she spoke. He took a seat on his bed with a sigh. It was made up so it wasen't that messy. He motioned for her to sit next to him. He looked her over quickly. She was an attractive female. He would give her that. She had nice features. He very much liked her hair and eyes. Her eyes in fact made him think of someone he knew a long time ago. He shook his head chasing away that thought.

"A long time ago I was attacked by a strange animal. It seemed to be a wolf but instead of the usual bite that heals and then goes away this one caused me to transform during a full moon. I become an actual wolf myself. That is who you met. I have a few traits in human form that makes me different from most humans. I have super sensitive hearing and smelling. I also run faster and tend to have a temper problem. Haven't you ever wondered where I get all my meat from and how I get it so quickly?"

He always found it funny that no one suspected him of being Lycan before this considering that fact.

"Mm, I've wondered about that little piece of you. You don't ever have a delivery truck or anything come to drop off meat." Sitting down on the bed beside him, Layla set her basket of fruit and vegetables down on the floor beside it and looked him over in turn. He was definitely interesting, and she admired his physique in a purely female fashion for a moment or two before turning a light pink and looking away. "I've always had a feeling that there's other types of creatures out in the world beside what everyone figures they 'know' exist. So you are a werewolf. Or...do you prefer the term Lycanthrope?" She laughed quietly, her cheeks deepening their coloring a little. "I've....read stories about the....erm...'magical' side of humanity when I was bored...."

She didn't disprove what he was, in fact she felt almost absurdly fine with it, after all she'd seen it happen, the change, with her own eyes. And he certainly wasn't bad looking in either form....the in between form was a little on the awkward and frightening side but she'd only seen a little of it as he'd changed from wolf to human.

He smiled at her and put his hand out to her. He picked hers up in his and kissed it.

"See I am not as scary as most assume I would be at all. I am a nice guy and I am human most of the time. As for the term It dosen't truly matter. Either one is quite accurate. I would much rather you call me Jax. I will provide you a lifetimes worth of free meat if you keep my secret. THe villiagers might not be as accepting of my predicament as you are."

He closed his eyes and laid his head back. This was complicated. He had kept it hidden for years and now suddenly she figured out everything. He sighed. This was going to be a pain indeeed.

Layla turned bright red. not pink, red when he kissed her hand. She'd expected to just shake hands with him. Returning his smile with one of her own, she chuckled when he mentioned free meat for a lifetime. "I don't eat alot of meat Jax so it realy wouldn't be much. Anyways, can you imagine me trying to tell everyone that you're a werewolf? Preist Andrews would think I'd been posessed, the baker and the dairy families would think me insane and everyone else would never come to my shop because they'd think I'd start raving about the butcher being a wolf in disguise." She grinned and shook her head. "Even if I wanted to tell anyone, they'd not believe me. Besides, I'm not one to give out confidences, especially ones as important as yours is. You've got my word that I'll never say a word to anyone about your being....more than human." After a few minutes of silence, thoughtful and not awkward, she spoke up again haltingly, a little wary. "Erm....do you....mind if I stay to meet your wolf again sometime? He's a little frightening but....he was more company last night than I've had in years really......"

He had to laugh at this. The problem with her request was that he knew his wolf side could be unpredictable. That presented a serious issue. He would hate to see him hurt her. It would hurt him a big deal if that happened.

"I am not sure if I could let you. My wolf side is very unpredictable. Its a difficult thing to deal with. I really would hate to see him hurt you. He is so dangerous."

He sighed. It was true. He was so unpredictable. He is after all just an animal.

Layla paused for a few minutes to think about what he said. She could certainly believe it! His wolf side was very dangerous, and she knew she'd have to be careful....but he was very interesting nontheless... "I know it'd be a dangerous thing to do, I really do, but I want to know more about him...and you too really. No one else knows much about you except that you seem more like a cranky sort of fellow than anything else." She said that a little teasingly and smiled. "On the other hand, I really don't feel like being eaten or mauled...that would hurt and I tend to NOT enjoy seeing my own blood. Pain too is rather...painful, ya know?" She chuckled at that.

He looked at her a moment and contemplated what she said. Was he really that much of a recluse? Did no one know anything about him? He supposed it was true. He really didn't have any freinds. He knew his customers and they knew him but just namewise. He did not have anyone that he talked to. He was lonely.

"I never thought about it. I suppose it would be nice to have a friend."

He smiled at her.

"If you wish you may spend time with him at anytime you want to but I don't control him so its kind of complicated. I can't guarantee that you would indeed meet up with him. Unless right before the change I came to your house."

"That could work...my backyard goes right up to the forest, so if he wanted to run away or something he could go, the fence I've got it mostly just for decoration anyhow."

Her 'fence' was a white picket that went to her knees, tiny, but cute. "I'd like to get to know him better. And yes....considering I have no real friends myself I'd appreciate it if you'd be mine as well." Raising an eyebrow Layla offered a small smile, uncertainly in his direction. "Since we're in the business of telling and finding out secrets I might as well tell you mine I suppose....every wonder why not more than two or three people are allowed in my shop at a time? It's because I'm um...sensitive. Extremely sensitive to energy. Emotions give off energy, and it drains mine immensely so that I get migraines and sometimes end up sick. One or two people at a time near me is fine but three gets to be too much sometimes and any more than that makes me sick."

Tugging on a bit of her hair she looked everywhere but at him. She might be human entirely, but the last 'friend' she'd told this had thought her a freak and had refused to even acknowledge her existence to this day even though the woman had moved out of the town three years ago.

He grinned.

"I am glad of this. Hopefully we will become great friends and possibly even more."

He kissed his way up her arm to her shoulder and then her cheek. He smiled at her.

"I think you are a great person. I would never stop being your friend. I think you are much more than even you know. I am sure that after a while we will know each other so well that nothing will suprise us about each other."

He stayed there and stared at her with his dark eyes. She was getting more and more attractive as he looked at her. He blinked slowly as a memory came back to him.

He was sitting down in a field with Tori. He remembered her in complete detail. She was the prettiest girl in the world.

"Please Jax do this for me. Turn me. I want to be able to stay with you forever."

He looked at her sadly.

"But you will be in agonizing pain. And You will suffer like I have to."

She smiled at him.

"I just have to be with you."

He could feel tears falling down his cheeks. He had agreed and He had ripped her to shreds.

The kisses had Layla, who was not used to physical touching other than dealing with patients, blushing bright pink yet again. Very quickly, so she didn't have to think about it and possibly coward out, she leaned forwards and kissed his cheek back lightly. He did smell good....kind of earthy, not like one would expect a butcher to smell like. "I'm sure we will eventually...."

When he looked at her and sort of spaced out, Layla frowned and tilted her head slightly, then she reached out, frowning worriedly when he started crying silently. "Hey...hey,hey, what's all this Jax? Don't tell me you're so emotional over getting a friend.....?"

He shook his head and looked at her. He smiled suddenly.

"No its not that. I just was remembering someone. She was a lot like you. She was very stubborn and very headstrong."

He leaned back towards her and kissed her again this time on her lips.

"Anyone would be lucky to have you. So tell me who is the Mr. in your life right now?"

He figured now would be as good of a time as any to get to know her.

The kiss on her lips had Layla looking at him with some bemusement. "Well, that was nice, but I think we may be going right to the something more of a relationship a bit too fast, don't you think? As for a mister....with how oddball I am, do you honestly think that a normal guy would have me at all? Not possible, when I start talking about energy and stuff." She added that part a teensy bit bitterly, then shook her head and stood up.

"Come on over to my house a bit later on, I'll make dinner and we can watch a movie or something. If nothing else I do pride myself on my movie collection at least, I'm not a complete hippy." Offering a grin, she picked up her basket, licking her lips lightly as she straightened. She did like his kiss, it had been very nice and the thrill that had gone straight down her lower area had been a surprise, and a pleasure, but to be honest, Layla had never had anything of a relationship sort with anyone and to kiss someone after only, maaaybe twenty minutes of having met him? That was out of character for her.

He chuckled a bit and stood up. He stretched his arms above his head. It felt so good to stretch his muscles out a bit.

"I suppose I should go unlock the door for you then. I would love to come over for dinner and a movie. I hope it wont be a burden for you. I hate to impose upon you. It is rather annoying when people do that to me."

He headed down the stairs and opened the door for her. He bowed to her politely.

"I shall be there at what time ma'am?"

Layla laughed at his galantry, and curtsied, kinda hard to do in jeans but she accomplished it nontheless. "Mmm, I'd say about six thirty. That'll give me enough time to tidy up and stuff. Maybe you could bing over some popcorn? I'm out of it right now and I'm not sure I have enough money to pick up more..." Reaching into her basket for her wallet, a small pouch she'd made from a scrap of cloth, she counted some money then pursed her lips in annoyance. "Shoot, I don't have enough. Could you pick some up?" She was already making a list of what she'd make for dinner later on, but then had to ask. "Also...what movie would you like to watch? I've got pretty much every kind from 2000 and up year-wise...."

He laughed some. She was just so sweet and kind. She cared so much for others and he loved it.

"I will be there at 6.29 sharp. As for the popcorn I would be honored. I will buy you a huge box. As for the movie I have many I like. But you may choose. It dosen't bother me to let the woman choose after all that is the gentlemanly thing to do."

Jax thought again about Tori. She was so sweet and generous. She always made sure to put what he wanted ahead of what she wanted. He had always loved that about her. This girl was so similar to Tori. He thought about that kiss and frowned. He had done that to Tori and she had reacted the same exact way. One thing about this girl that he loved was she had a kind heart. He always did love a womans heart more than anything.

Noticing his frown, Layla smiled a bit then turned and waved. "Alrighty, so I pick the movie, you bring the popcorn and I'll have dinner set up for when ya get here. See you in a bit!" Cheerful and smiling, the healer began to walk, glancing back every now and again to get a sight of the white haired man who'd kissed her. She really did find him fascinating. Though he did try to move pretty fast for a guy who didn't have any friends. Touching her lips lightly with her fingers she smiled as she turned finally after looking back once more and hurried hom eto tidy up and get dinner started since it was nearly three in the afternoon already.

(ok and btw love teh dress)

He watched her leave. When she was out of sight he shut the door. He figured he would go and get a nap before going there. he was rather tired and needed to catch up on his sleep. He went upstairs and climbed into bed. He set his alarm to wake him at six.

When he woke up to the sound of the alarm he grinned. This was going to be fun. He got up and went to the shower. He took a quick shower and then put on a fresh outfit. He stared at himself in the mirror and grinned. He looked good.

He took off down the road heading for her house. When he got there he knocked on the door. In his hands was a bouquet of flowers and a box of popcorn. He was all ready. He smelled his skin. It had been washed with a special body wash that made him smell so good.

((Thankies! ^_^ It took me a while to figure out what sort of dress I wanted my avi to wear, but this one looks cute enough, and I can accessorize nicely too......wow...I just sounded like my fashionista cousin Amy...^-^; ))

As soon as she got home, Layla changed into an informal broom skirt in teal and a peasants blouse in emerald green before she grabbed an apron and started dinner. She'd grabbed a shower earlier in the day and hadn't done much to work up a sweat or anything so she figured she was fine. She certainly didn't stink.

Heading into the kitchen and tying back her hair into one ponytail instead of how she normally did it, the woman snagged a knife, a cutting board and various other things to begin making dinner. She'd decided on making a stir fry and cut up some of the deer roast into strips before putting the rest away into the fridge to portion up and freeze later on. After cutting the meat up into bite sized chunks she got out her second favorite kitchen item; a wok, and began to work on dinner, keeping the temperatures low so the meat and vegetables would cook slowly. Once she had the sauce made and added, she stuck the lid on the wok and got started making the dessert for afterwards, a simple batch of zuchini bread with chocolate chips in it. Yes, she wasn't much one for having overly sweet things to eat like cakes or candy.

At the exact time that Jax showed up, she'd turned off the stove, leaving the loaf to bake for another fourty minutes or so, untied her apron and headed to the door. Opening it she found him holding popcorn and flowers and grinned. "Well, you look like your ready for a date there my friend, I wonder who the lucky girl is." She spoke teasingly as she accepted the flowers and stepped to the side to let him in. "These are beautiful Jax, thank you."

He smiled at her and gave her a quick hug. He stepped inside and looked around. Her house was so cute. It was spotless which he figured since it was a girls home. It was nice and roomy but not to big. He noticed a lot of bright things around. He was never one into bright things. He much perfered the dark. He was into night not day. He was into black not white. He looked at her furnature. It was very pretty and soft.

"Your house is so nice. Its bright and pretty and suits you perfectly. I don't think anything could possibly make it look any better than how it looks now."

He smiled at her and kissed her hand. Most women loved that. Flowers, Compliment and handkiss. Yes it was just like a date.
