On the fly! Just start posting. Profiles will be added to the beginning post. (COME JOIN!!)
So, I want to start a roleplay without a predefined plot. Anyone is welcome to post. This can include romance, fighting, and adventures, but I'd like posters to be somewhat skilled, and to respond in the same style as my starter here. Third person, past tense, quotes for speech, etc etc. Also, it's supposed to be more realistic, as far as the situation. =)

Profile format: Please fill this out and PM it to me when you join! Name: Played by: Age: Birthday: Orientation: Likes: Dislikes: History: /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\ Mark was a pretty typical young man. Twenty-two years old, working on a Master's Degree in English. He was in the midst of a busy day- later he would go and meet some potential room mates, in an attempt to finally get out of the dormitories. All he wanted was to have a room to himself, and to finally a kitten. With light brown hair and green eyes, Mark didn't stand out much. He was a little on the short side, maybe, and had a slim build. Sometimes, he wore glasses. He didn't really drink much, didn't belong to a fraternity. His home was across the country, but he didn't mind that, either. His parents were dysfunctional enough without him being there. It was the beginning of his summer break, the middle of June to be precise, and Mark was also looking for a job in his free time before his appointment at the apartment. After poring over the ads in the local paper, he discovered that the paper itself was hiring some office help, in an intern sort of position. Figuring that was a perfect job for an aspiring writer, he headed in to see if he could submit his resume. Tugging down on the front of his gray button-up shirt, he pushed the door open to the classy reception area, eyes landing on the receptionist with an automatic smile. "Hello..." He said, a bit uncertain. His parents and scholarships had made it so he'd never really had to work before. He'd always been focused on his studies. Now would be the moment of truth. Could he handle a taste of the real world? |
The receptionist, a girl that had to be around Mark's age, looked up and smiled. Her dark blonde hair was pulled back in a bun, and she wore a burgundy, sleeveless blouse that went well with her pale skin. She had a rather large chest, but Mark tried not to look at that, instead focusing on her pretty oval face.
"Oh... I-I was hoping to turn in my resume for the listing in the newspaper... I heard there was, um, a job opening here at the Post." He explained, feeling awkward and thrusting his resume at her over the counter. The young woman smiled at him politely and held up a clipboard with an application clipped to it instead. "Go ahead and fill this out, sweetie. There's a waiting area over there." She pointed a manicured fingernail toward an area with a few couches and chairs, where several young people who looked to be in much the same position as Mark were already writing. Trying not to look disappointed, Mark took the clipboard with a smile in return. "Thank you, ma'am." He turned to go, but her voice gave him pause. "Bethany." She told him gently, clearly feeling his pain. "Bethany." He repeated, and went to sit down with the others. ((You can be anyone you want, ya'll! A boss? One of the applicants? Go for it. Please?)) |
Katsa sat slumped on a chair, again in a waiting room. How many times had she found herself staring at the clock, slumped on a chair, applying for a job, and being rejected. She really had some serious problems. She hadn't tried too hard in school, but she wasn't bad, she was average, sometimes a little better, but unfortunately she never got the best. Katsa sighed. She had never been into drinking, smoking, she was still a virgin, hell, she hadn't even had her first kiss!
At that thought, she slumped lower in her chair. Katsa, a girl in around her twenties, wore her frizzy brown hair loose, waving all over the place. Her grey eyes were a contrast to the hair, and with the very defined cheekbones and the sharp chin, her face showed no flaws. Of course, this was not how she felt about herself, but she truly couldn't care less. Katsa had never cared about her looks, she would wake up in the morning and not brush her hair! She hadn't even worn make up once, well.. besides the times her parents practically tied her to a chair and put it on, and she hadn't exactly been very interested in sex either. Sure, she had her moments of staring out at the horizon and thinking the one for her was staring at the same landscape, but all girls had to think of it at one point... right? Her eyes fluttered as she opened them and took a look around. All the people slumped on the chair seemed in the same kind of condition as her. She sighed and smiled kindly at the others, before feeling the chair beside her creak as someone sat down. She turned to look at a man with gorgeous green eyes, and light brown hair. She smiled. "First time getting a job?" she asks. |
"Oh... oh, yeah." Mark looked up belatedly and flushed, fiddling with his clipboard. "Is it that obvious?" He asked, jotting down his dorm's address left-handed before giving the girl another look. He could tell she was pretty, but barely. There was so much frizz.
"What about you? Have you had a job before? Do you know anything about the newspaper itself?" He asked, realizing it would probably be polite to keep the conversation going, though it was probably bad to fraternize with the competition. He didn't even want to THINK about how many other applicants there were for the position. All aspects of landing this job would be good for Mark. He needed the work experience, the writing experience. He needed some spending money, since all his housing allowance would soon be spent on rent. And he needed to prove he could really do something for himself, without his parents holding his hand the whole time. At least he'd gotten accepted to his first choice school without anyone needing to make a call. Fiddling with his wristwatch he went back to the application while he waited for her to answer, nervous. |
Katsa grinned before shaking her head once. "Not much, but if you knew me, you would know why it was obvious to me," she explained. It probably didn't mean much to him, but being in a waiting room was like calling it home, she had been here so many times. So she could practically tell when someone had been rejected a couple of times, or if it was their first time applying for a job. She didn't bother explaining this though, since he probably couldn't have cared less.
As he returned the question, she shook her head again. "I've been here more than once. Been rejected more than once. You get used to it," she said with a shrug. She listened as he asked a few more questions, and she raised her eyebrow, but didn't comment at his bombarding. "I have had a job once, but it wasn't a very stable one. So I'm sort of looking for one with better salary," she explained, before continuing to answer the second question, "And yes, I've read the newspaper." "How about you? You read the newspaper? And how come its your first time applying for a job?" she countered back with a twisted grin. (( I'll fill out the profile skeleton now. )) |
Mark filled in some information about his education, quiet. At first it seemed like he wouldn't answer, but that was because he was thinking. Not to mention the whole, 'being-terrible-at-being-social' bit. "I've just been going to school full time. I never even had an interview before." He admitted in a hushed, somewhat embarrassed tone. "I helped my dad some when I was in highschool, but other than that, I just studied. I usually read the city paper, not the local one. But a chance to write is a chance to write, right? Even if all I got to do was file things, I would still be happy. Besides, I'm hopefully moving out of the dorms soon and my scholarships will be spread thin." He added, scratching his cheek absentmindedly with the back of his pen.
"Do you go to school here? I'm not even from this part of the country, so even though it's small I still feel kind of out of place." He still wasn't sure whether he should be talking to her, but he wasn't really capable of telling anyone no, so he was pretty stuck. Besides, she seemed harmless enough. |
Katsa watched as he didn't answer. Sitting back in her chair, she glanced at him again, glanced at what he was doing. That was until he answered, finally. She nodded as he talked, and spoke when she needed to, but when she was absolutely sure he had finished saying what he needed to say, she spoke up.
"I go to a university around the corner from here," she mentions as she fiddles with her fingers, picking at the skin. She feels kind of awkward, like she shouldn't be talking to him, and like he didn't want to talk to her. So instead of continuing the conversation, she turned to face the front and stared at the clock again, counting the seconds in her head as the small hand moved. Duncan made his way into the restaurant. He had a small break today, luckily, so he grabbed the first moment he could to get a coffee and a bun, with a newspaper. Sitting down, he ordered what he wanted before opening the newspaper that seemed to be glued to his hand, and started reading. It wasn't long when his coffee and bun was served, and he picked at it calmly, content with his day. // Sorry it's so short. \\ |
Kero walked into the building, He is 20 years old and is 5'7, He has an athletic build and has Blue eyes, his hair is brown and is cut short, Around his neck you see what looks to be a collar with a small blue tag with words engraved on it, he is wearing jeans and a black polo shirt.
Kero walked over to the receptionist desk and he handed her his resume. He smiles, "here is my resume, I saw your guys ad in the newspaper and was interested." Kero picked up the clipboard containing the Application and walks over to the waiting area, He sat down in one of the chairs and looked around before starting on his application. He looked up again, this time noticing there was others here. "Hello, I am sorry I didn't say anything earlier." he sayed smiling softly "I was so caught up in stuff I didn't seem to notice." He looked back down and continues to fill in the application. He looks over to the others "is this your first job?" he asked softly. ((sorry if this seem short)) |
((Could you please try to keep it past tense?))
Mark looked up and sat up straighter, his application completed. "Don't worry about it. Just a second." He went to turn in his paperwork to Bethany, then came back and sat down with a small smile. "Um, yeah, it's my first time looking for a job." He explained, picking at his slacks. "What about you?" He asked, clearly no good at coming off as confident. Nonetheless, he offered a smile and lifted his butt up for a minute to get his wallet out of his back pocket. Opening it up he started to pick through his various cards and receipts, just for something to occupy his hands and eyes. Pulling out some coins, he started to count them, feeling stupid. Bethany got up again, walking into the lobby. Her heels ticked on the ceramic tiles, a forgotten pen stuck behind her ear. "Kasta... Tempest?" She asked, looking up from her paperwork and peering around at the handful of faces. "Mr. Evans will see you now." She said, gesturing for the girl to follow her back into the office. |
((sorry, I will try on my next post))
Kero looked up again, He watched as the other went to turn his application. He looked down again and finished his, he got up and walks over to the receptionist's desk and turned it in. He smiled as he sat back down. "This is my first as well." he said with a smile. He watched Mark play with his wallet and the coins. "My name is Kero" he said softly to introduce himself. He pulled out his phone and checked the time. Kero sighed as he heard Kasta's name being called. He looks up and watched them walk out of the waiting area. Kero then looked over to Mark "so what brings you to the area?" he asked smiling. |
Mark looked back to the guy who was sitting near him and smiled faintly. "Um, I'm Mark. I'm a student. I want to be a writer, so I thought I would kill two birds with one stone and get the experience out of something like this, if I get hired on. Not that I want to be a journalist, but... you know? I think you should surround yourself in stuff that suits your needs." He explained, feeling like a bit of a dork and fiddling with his wallet some more.
"Are you from around here?" He asked lamely, looking at his own hands rather than Kero. |
"Bethany! Are those kids applicants?" called Lois as she briskly walked into the waiting room. Unscrewing her thermos, Lois turned to view the newcomers with shrewd eyes. "I hope your ready to to work hard here. This is not just another desk job." Pointing at the nearest male, she added more kindly "I'll interview you first." Opening the door behind Bethany, she walked into a large room that had eight cubicles; some of which were empty. There was a small corner office with privacy, on the door was labeled the works 'Editor.' Walking in, Lois sat down on her chair and waited for the young man to take a seat. She swung around on her swivel chair a bit, this was probably the only fun thing her office had to offer. Last week had been horrible; she had to fire half the staff because of their incompetance and to top it off, her computer died and all of her files were deleted. Time to start things up from scratch again, but this time she needed some decent workers to back the paper up.
((interviewing Mark, sorry for the short crap post)) |
Kero looked up and nodded, "yes I am, I am a student myself and its a pleasure to meet you." He looked up at Lois as she came into the waiting room. He nodded to her as she talked. "yes Mamn I am ready to work hard" he said with a smile. He watched as Mark got up and walked away with Lois. "Good Luck Mark" he called out with a smile. Once they were out of the room Kero sighed softly and looked up at the ceiling.
((sorry if its to short, I will put more if needed)) |
