There are seven whole seas, and you manage to run us onto a reef!? (Jauni and Jujubes)
Peggie the bosun coward beneath his bench as his captain bludgeoned his considerable rear end with the flat of a blade. He cried and screamed, and begged frevently for mercy, but none was to be had. He'd done it again.
"You (he whips the blade down ruthlessly, and the loud slap obviously stings quite a bit, as his bosun squeals out in agony) dithering (another cry for platitude, and another slap) oaf! I give you the tiller of my ship, (SLAP) and you steer her onto a razor reef. Not once (SLAP), but twice! (SLAP, SLAP, SLAP!)" Finally, the bosun can take no more, and he passes out. Disgusted, the captain turns away. "Get him to his bunk. Duron, take the tiller! Merg, get my dingy in the water! Let's pray that the hull hasn't been too badly holed. I swear, if Peggie wasn't the best navigator in this hemisphere, I would have thrown him overboard years ago! I should have saved myself the trouble!" Captain Lorek Tath ranted as he stuffed his scimitar into his broad belt. He was quickly tiring of his bosun. He would have to put him back on dish-scouring duty if the blundering kept up... |
Ah, the wonderful sea air, that salty scent and the great breeze. Dark eyes slowly fluttered closed as she sat on the edge of the ship; her fingers holding to the same edge that she sat on. Her bare feel were currently dangling off the edge as well as she inhaled deeply, bringing in that salty scent into her lungs. The female laughed loudly before she expertly swung her feet up and back flipped herself back into the ship. Again the girl deeply breathed in, her eyes turning the attention to her fellow crew mates.
"One of these days, you're going to fall off when ye do that," a voice from behind somewhat warned. Turning around the girl blinked, before flashing the person a cute smile. "Eeee, but I'm sure I'll be saved~" the girl laughed before she pranced toward the front of the ship. And the moment she reached the front, she quickly whipped out her spyglass, staring out into the horizon--Only to find a... Ship? "Ehhhh?" she blinked as she turned around and glanced up at the crewmate who sat on the Crow's Nest, "Oy Johnny! Do you see that?" "Aye!" Johnny called out as he peaked through his own spyglass, "That'd be a ship, Cap'n!" Captain Kayori Tsumi merely laughed, returning her attention back to the ship ahead, "Take her there, let's go see what happened... Or we'll raid'em~" "Aye Cap'n!" |
As Lorek inspected the damage to his ship, he groaned. Straight through the hull. Fortunately, the ship had actually bellied up onto the reef, what with the force of impact, so the breach was mostly above the water line. The Hawkwake would not be sinking. Not if he could help it. "Merg, when we get back aboard, check our wood stock, see if we've got enough to mend this ourselves. I don't want to have to row ashore for a tow. Chaunce, tell Otis to watch out for other shi-"
His voice cut off suddenly as he heard the aforementioned crew member crying out. "Captain Tath! A ship on the eastern horizon!" Lorek's head snapped around, and as he faced in the indicated direction, he espied a large blob marring the blue vault of sky. Cursing, he took ahold of one of the lines that tethered the dingy to his ship and shimmied up with the speed and grace of a young man who'd spent his entire life at sea. "Arm yourselves, men! There's a ship on the horizon, and and our lady's lamed! Seth! Get the ballista and cannon teams prepared, in case it comes to the worst! Chaunce, get up top with Otis. I want to know who it is out there, and I want to know now!" |
Again the female whipped out her spyglass, seeing as they were much closer to the sea vessel than before. Kayori couldn't help but frown, they were preparing for an attack. Sighing, the girl pulled the telescope away from her eye before putting it away and stared up at the crewmate who continued to stare to the ship, "Oy Johnny, keep an eye out on her... They may be preparing for attack and if they shoot, we're shootin' back!"
"Aye ma'am!" was the only thing Johnny said as Kayori walked over to her bosun, who was currently steering her sea vessel, who she happily named the Black Jade. "I just want to get close enough to see what's going on with that ship," she told the aging seadog, "You think you can get us close enough, Jack? I wanna talk, unless they shoot." "Of course Ma'am," Jack answered as he flashed his captain a smile. Kayori nodded as she turned to the rest of the crew with sharp eyes. "Alright! I want everyone prepared for an attack if it comes down to it!" she shouted rather loudly, even with such a small figure, "Johnny, you better keep an eye out on that ship! No shooting until I call it! And will someone tell the cooks that I want soup tonight!" "Aye ey' Cap'n!" everyone yelled as they all scrambled to do their orders. |
Now Lorek had his own spyglass in hand, and he cursed as he saw the deck of the approaching ship come alive with feverish activity. His heart ached at the thought of losing the Hawkwake. His father had left him the trireme when he'd died, and Lorek had risked life and limb on many an occasion throughout his twenty-three years on the earth to defend it. He cared more for the safety of his ship than his own well-being.
He climbed a short ways up into the rigging, for a better view, and as he watched, he spotted a girl with a spyglass in her hand. Frowning, he called down to his first mate Chaunce. "They've a woman aboard. Keep the men on stand-by, but do not fire unless I give the order!" He watched as the burly Grecian man made his way through the bustle on deck. He trusted the man with his life, as he did many of his crew, and he felt secure knowing that he had such loyal men at his back. He turned his attention to the other ship once more. |
Kayori merely waited as Jack steered her vessel toward the other ship. Everyone continued to wait patiently and soon enough, the ship was near distance enough for her to yell, "You guys know what do right?" The crewmen merely nodded as they prepared and anxiously awaited for their further orders, "I'll see what's up... Diz, you're in charge... If I can't call the counter, you may call out the order to fire."
"Aye ey' Ma'am~" Diz nodded as he walked over toward the front of the ship. Once there, her first mate Diz had ordered her men to drop the anchor before she strapped her sword to her waist and jumped toward the edge, where she was sitting earlier, "Ahoy there!" Kayori called out with a smiling face as she held onto a rope that was tied to the sail. Yes, her tactics were a bit on the odd side, but hey... It got her this far. |
Lorek felt the hairs on the back of his neck tingle as the other ship sailed near. Having another armed ship so close by when his lady was scuttled set his nerves to jangling, and his teeth ground audibly. He gripped one of the thick rigging lines so tightly that the bones of his knuckles stood out white against his skin. Eyes narrowed, he watched as they dropped anchor. He had hoped that they would sail by.
Much to his surprise, and somewhat to his chagrin, he watched as a girl jumped up onto the ship's rail. She looked to be younger than him, but she was certainly no child. He smirked at her as he sighed inwardly. ’Well, how pleasant,’ he thought to himself. "What do you want, Miss? Where's your captain? I'd much rather speak to the man in charge than bandy words with a flower such as yourself, if you would forgive me saying." |
The female captain could only sigh. Oh here we go go again, she mentally pouted as she managed to continue with her cheerful smile. It seemed only her crew could take her seriously... Then again, no one wanted to believe that the Black Jade's captain was actually female, so she decided just to go along with it. Besides, she loved the reactions people gave out the moment they found out that this little 'sea flower' is actually the Captain.
"As much as I would like to give that privilege, the Captain gave me special orders to fill in, for him~" she replied, still flashing that cute smile, "So, you're stuck talking to lil' me... I hope you don't mind~" |
The black-haired young man sighed with exasperation, and he began pinching the bridge of his nose with the thumb and index finger of his left hand, head bowed slightly. It had certainly become a trying day. He stood there for a moment, still as a statue as he composed himself, then inhaled loudly as he lifted his head. Though his eyes were still aggravated, a silky smooth smile graced his lips.
"Very well then. What do you want?" he demanded, his tone light, though traces of his growing fury were evident. He crossed his arms across his chest as he stared at her, his nails digging into his elbows as he strove to calm himself. It was always a feat, though. The Hawkwake was not all that he'd inherited from hsi father. With it had come his father's temper, as well as his good looks. |
And all she could do was stare. Ooooh, this must be annoying~ she mentally laughed as she decided to sit on the edge. This guy was clearly irritated, that was no joke right there... Especially since his aura radiated with all of this negative energy. A soft sigh escaped from her lips as she awaited his answer, before she quietly hummed. It was then he decided to speak... Allowing himself to talk to her. Kayori's wide eyes lit up at this as she swayed her body rather childishly.
"Well boys, unless I manage to annoy him--I say there'll be no action for us today~" she laughed loudly, turning her attention back to her boys. The crewmen then relaxed; however, they were still on alert. Returning her attention back to this... Rather amusing eye candy of a man, Kayori continued with her speaking, "Ooooh, we spotted you from a mile away and it looks like you weren't moving... My Captain was a bit curious and wanted me to check to see if anything was wrong. Turns out his curiosity paid off." |
Lorek snorted impatiently and began tapping his left foot on the planks of his ship's deck. Her jests weren't as amusing to those on his ship as they were to those aboard the other. He heard his men grumbling, and his ears distinctly caught the words 'slit her throat and hang her from the bowsprit', but he made it a point to ignore this remark. He was not nearly as brutish as some of his crew.
Though he had his moments. "If you're looking for easy prey, look elsewhere. I broke (accept) no ridicule from tarts like yourself. Tell your captain that if he orders any sort of attack, I will sink his ship. I am in no mood for idiocy and banter," his voice dripped sarcasm, laced with a bit of disdain, and he gave a 'stand-easy' hand signal to his men as he began to turn away. |
"Wow... Someone jumped off the wrong side of the plank this morning," she couldn't help but frown before she jumped up and swung herself so she was now hand standing on the flat surface. Tipping herself over, Kayori landed gracefully on her feet and her back nice facing the male, "You be try to be nice today and no respect, eh boys? Oh well, good luck towing, you're days away from the nearest port. Anchors up, we're leaving."
"Aye ey', Ma'am!" everyone called out as the crew began to scramble around once more. It was then Diz walked up to his Captain, a slightly disapproving look on his face as he looked down at her. "You're just gonna leave them there?" he questioned. Kayori merely shrugged, "Yeah... And we'll do them the favor of sinking her~ Ready my boys up and prepare for an easy target," She smiled gently as she walked up to her bosun, who began to steer the ship away, "Ugh, this is why I men... Ironic, isn't it Jackie?" "Indeed it is, Cap'n, indeed it is," was all Jack said as the Black Jade moved away from the ship. |
Lorek watched suspiciously as she jumped down and began to speak to one of the men of her ship's crew. He had a sneaking suspicion that He'd been speaking the the captain all along, and that he had better have his men load the guns...
"Chaunce! Merg! I want all ballistas and cannons loaded and ready! I don't trust her any more than I would a smiling shark," he allowed himself a chuckle here, for that was quite how she'd appeared. No matter. He drew his scimitar and began waving it about, embellishing his orders with vicious slashes and savage sweeps at the air around him. "Duron, you've the best eyes of any aboard this ship; get up in the rigging and let me know the second they bring arms to bear! Merg, where are my ballistas?! I only here three cranks turning, and there are sixteen of the overgrown crossbows aboard this tub! Chaunce! Once the fighting starts, keep those cannons going strong and steady. I want them firing in three ranks! Don't give them any breathing room!" |
Even though the Black Jade was good distance away, Kayori could hear the hustle and the bustle of the the opposing ship. This time, she couldn't help but roll her eyes as she yanked out her other weapon... Well, her main weapon at least; the Golden Dragon, a gun who often protected her whenever she was forced into battle, "Do you see what I'm seein' boys?" She questioned out loud, a lot of yelling soon echoed afterward, which caused her to smile casually, "Canons and launchers ready and aim!"
The wonderful sound of heavy cannon balls and harpoon poles being placed on their designated launcher was like a song to her ears. So, this guy wanted a brawl, he'll get one... Kayori normally hated battling, but if there was no choice, she was ready to fight back, "They're sitting prey!" She yelled, "Sitting prey that are just askin' for a death wish! Fight dirty if you have to! I want to see nothing of that giant piece of drift wood and I better see her sink! Johnny, I need you to be my eyes! The moment they fire, give 'em everything... And I want that Captain!" I'll show'em what this little flower can do... She finished with narrowed her eyes and readied her gun. And if worst came to worst, she also had her firedancer sword. |
Lorek's eyes narrowed and his lips settled into a grim line as he watched the other ship. Cannons, and some sort of harpoon launcher. Not too bad. The heavy, steel-tipped 'arrows' that his ballistas fired were three time longer and five times heavier than a normal arrow. A decent handler could get two men in a shot easily. And the cannons were plenty capable of holing the other ship's hull. He wasn't going to lose the Hawkwake. Not if he could help it.
He would fight to the last breath, and then he'd swing on. He knew what dire straights he was in. He could not afford to go on the offensive, even if it would surely be the most proactive thing to do. Then again, he didn't have much to lose. Most of his riches were safely ensconced in banks scattered around the northern hemisphere. Only that which belonged to his crew, and that which they had aquired in the brief time they'd been to sea afort last dropping anchor in Java. In fact, the Hawkwake was an ancient old tub, and despite his emotional connections to the ship, he could easily aquire, or even commission the building of, another. Grinning in a death-to-all manner, he swung his sword to the deck, signalling his second to fire all guns. It had begun. |
The boom of the opposing ship echoed violently, causing a huge uproar within the deck. The canon balls had missed, thank you; however, a canon managed to splatter some crates near the bow end, besides that... Everything else seemed alright. But Kayori wasn't too happy about that... The crates held things her ship needed and that no good mongrel just blew it up! "Oh for the love of-- FIRE THE CANONS!"
Her retaliation began. Not long afterward, her own canons were fired; those loud explosions echoing within the waves in intervals. She could hear her higher ranking crewmen give the signal to fire. Within that moment, Kayori's dark hues narrowed angrily as she ran up toward the wheel, "Take us back in Jack, we're going in!" The bosun nodded determinedly, turning the wheel quickly, which the ship had followed. Once they were in perfect distance, she had then ordered her harpoon launchers to fire, "The rest of you! Get ready to charge in!" she yelled as she grabbed onto a rope and readied herself to swing into her opponent's vessel. |
Lorek slashed at the air like a mad-man, cursing at the sea. A rouge wave had jarred his ship, dropping them three feet, throwing off the canons, and dropping the hole in the hull beneath the water line. He could feel the tremble of the ship as vibrations from the water rushing in traveled the length of the ship. "Aim again! If we don't hit them this time, I'll skin the lot of you!" He howled as he jumped up onto the rail of his ship, holding onto nothing but his scimitar and a long dagger. His balance was excellent.
He laughed like a mad-man as a volley of arrows let out, which by all rights ought to tear gaping holes in his new enemy's sails. He watched as she took hold of a rope. He slashed the air before him, intent that if he couldn't disembowl her in midair, he'd at least dump her into the ocean, putting her and most of her men out of commission until she was back aboard her ship. |
What a weird fellow... She mused as she turned her attention at a launched arrow tear through her sail. The girl then fumed, her eyes returning to his ship... Which seemed to be loosing itself. Oh! This was just perfect! She laughed loudly as another interval of arrows and canons filled the air before landing onto random things in the sea... And his ship, "Don't stop firing until that drift wood ain't drifting no more!" She ordered before holding onto the rope and soon swung herself (along with a good amount of men as well) into their opposing vessel.
As she flew toward the other's deck, she then grabbed her gun, shooting at his crewmates before landing gracefully on his the railing some paces away from him. Her other crewmen followed the suit; guns, swords and other weapons in their hands and began the raid. |
A raid that would end in nought but loss of life. Well, for Girly's crew. Perhaps the most valuable thing aboard his ship after so brief a sail was his scimitar, and that was something he would die before giving up. It, like the ship, had come from his father. Had the Hawkwake not been holed, he could have sailed circles around the girl. Under full sail and oar, there wasn't a ship on the maine that could keep pace with the trireme. So far none of the enemy's cannons had done much damage, and he felt giddy as he saw how quickly his ship was falling beneath the waves.
Yes! He cheered as he thought of a solution that had not occurred to him before. Just let the ship sink! Later on, he could hire another couple of ships to come out and haul her back up. All he had to do was open the bilges, and the water would drain right out as the ship was raised. But first, of course, he had to survive. Thus, he began hacking into the girl's crew, slashing left and right with his lethally keen blade. He would not have his ship taken from him! |
By the looks of it, she was officially wanting this stupid piece of sinking wood to be unfixable and just be another lost vessel in the sea. Angrily, she launched herself forward, shooting and slashing at his crew that attempted to touch her. Kayori quickly plowed herself through the large horde of seadogs before she finally was just a few feet away from him. And after gunning down another one of his crew members, Kayori then threw herself at his large body (while getting nicked on her exposed side) before yanking on his hair and attempted to floor him.
"You're going to be paying for this," she hissed loudly enough for him to hear. [OoC| I hope you don't mind that... Need more of an encounter~ :3] |
Growling as she yanked on his hair, he reached back over his shoulder with the dagger and cut his lovely hair off short, freeing himself from her grip. As he did this, he turned swiftly and snaked an arm tightly around her waist, her arms pinned to her sides as he crushed her to him, squeezing as hard as he could as his dagger threatened to dig in between her ribs and into her chest cavity. He continued to slash at her cronies with his sword.
"Me? I'm not the one who plotted to attack a scuppered vessel! I prepared my ship in defense, and I only fired when it became evident that you thought me some peasant whom you could sweet talk, then shoot in the back and rob blind!" his voice was husky, his breathing heavy, his stunning blue eyes clouded with rage. ((No problem at all, so long as I am allowed to reciprocate. xD You can just use one of your big burly crewmates to knock him upside the head in a few posts? xD Also, I would like your opinion on something. I can't decide whther I should buy an Onyx Regis Cloak for my avatar or not. With or without, once I get the black and silver harem overskirt I'm saving for, my avatar will look like my OC Leucion, but I can't decide whether she'd look better with or without the cloak. Without the cloak or with the cloak?)) |
The girl yelped as she fell off of him, losing her tight grip the moment he slashed off the portion she was holding onto. But before she had a chance to grab onto anything else, he then grabbed her and practically bear hugged her form onto him. She could also feel the dagger that was just about ready to impale her if she did anything stupid. Oh, if only this was under different circumstances... She couldn't help but think as she eyed him with an amused expression. Yes he was clearly angry, everyone knew it; however, she still found this rather funny. He was handsome, the girlish side of her somewhat swooned, but the Captain side of her had an idea...
"My my... Is this the way you treat a lady?" she questioned as she flashed him a helpless expression, "I merely wanted to help out... But then you became so hostile. You hurt my feelings too... And we were only trying to protect our ship, but then you fired at us... Of course we were going to do what we can to protect ourselves~" [OoC| Lol, yeah~ xD And will do~ But I have this funny idea that'll maybe faze him a bit so a crewmate can knock him upside the head. Uhm... I'd go... Without if you're wearing anything like a necklace.... If you aren't, go with the cloak. o.o] |
He growled again and wiggled the dagger viciously so that it scratched her deeply without stabbing or letting her bleed too much. Yet. He squeezed tighter, the lean muscles of his lithe body straining between fighting her men and trying to crush her. With the fighting came the bloodlust, and his actions became more instinctive and he ducked blows, weaving himself around her men, his scimitar singing through the air like the conductor's baton of some sinister symphony.
With the bloodlust came the rushes of adrenaline and testosterone, and as he began to relax into that primal state where true warriors inevitably find themselves, his smooth, well-mannered facade gave way to the pirate his father had been. His voice was more gutteral as he half-growled his words, though his vocabulary did not slip an inch. "Shut up, you filthy wench!" he yelled as he shook her. "You were planning this before I ordered a shot fired! Admit it!" The dagger dug in more fiercely, but still not more than a flesh wound as limbs and heads were hewn from her crew's bodies by his blade. ((Okies. Feel free to bludgeon him either in your next post (as in right after this) or in the next after that, before his arm muscles give out ! xD And thanks. xD My dad said almost the exact same thing.)) |
Wincing at his dagger nicking her, she then averted her attention toward one of her crewmen; mainly Diz who decided to come rescue his dear Captain. This man was clearly too engrossed in his own rage, she had the chance to escape and the moment they held their Captain, this entire crew would fall apart and this silly ship would be no more. She then allowed him to yell at her and shake her...
"It'd be careful if I were you, sweetie~" she cooed gently as Diz slowly crept closer, "You're easily distracted... So, I believe I just won~" And with that, Diz took this chance to hit the back of his neck with the hilt of his cutlass. Kayori then took this moment to scoot away, regaining her air supply and her posture. [OoC| Lol, kk~ xDDD And okay!] |
Lorek was about to whip his head forward, to butt her and shut her up, when he felt a tremendous pressure at the base of his skull. His limbs went limp, though he kept his grip on his scimitar. Nothing could make him let it go. Not if he was going to lose his ship after all. Not if it was the only physical possession he had left of his father's. As he slipped to his knees, the world darkening around him, a low string of curses passed through his lips, barely more than a whisper, and his eye rolled back in his head. He pitched forward onto the deck of his beloved shipas he slipped into a blissful oblivion.
((Shall we time-skip? And method of confinement is up to you, though I request that his scimitar be stashed somewhere for safe-keeping, to emerge later in the thread... xD)) |
