Nightsong watched her with faint surprise in his eyes; it was hard to believe a fairy could fit so much food in her stomach.
Realizing Nightsong was staring at her, she swallowed her food and wiped her mouth on a nearby leaf. She chuckled in embarrassment, and apologized for her rudeness. "Sorry....I get hungry...." She gave Nightsong a cute smile, showing her teeth.
Nightsong nodded slowly and turned back to the fire. He poked it a few times to see how it was.
Eleanor finished her food, and put the bowl down on the ground.
Nightsong poured some water into the bowl and some soap, then washed it out with a rag. He washed out the copper pot as well, then packed those away and banked the fire.
Eleanor blew on her hands and rubbed them together to keep them warm. She shivered in the cold, and looked around for something to wrap around herself. She walked over to a little bush, and pulled off a leaf, and used it as a blanket.
Nightsong sat back against the nearest tree and leaned his head back. He closed his eyes and soon fell asleep.
Eleanor curled up beside Nightsong and closed her eyes, but her fear of the evil fairies kept her awake. The wind blew, rustling the nearby bush, and made Eleanor's head jerk up, tensing her entire body. She tried calming down, but failed.
Although Nightsong was asleep, he was aware of everything happening around them, and was ready to wake up at any moment. Nothing threatened them during the night, however, and he didn't awake until the next morning.
Eleanor, with extreme bags under her eyes from severe lack of sleep, watched Nightsong awake from his slumber slowly. "Morning..." she groaned to him, once his eyes were opened and aware.
Nightsong looked at Eleanor. He picked her up and put her in one of the pockets on his coat. 'Sleep,' he said, as he began packing the camp site away.
Eleanor nodded drowsily as she was dropped into a small dark room made of soft material. not 1 minute after being in Nightsong's coat pocket, she was fast asleep.
Nightsong walked throughout the day, carefully tracking the men who had captured the fairies.
(I'm going to be offline for a long while, maybe a couple of days.) |
After sleeping half the day, Eleanor woke up in Nightsong's pocket. She poked her head out of his pocket, watching the graceful surroundings of the forest go by as Nightsong continued walking.
Nightsong didn't notice Eleanor wake up; he was too focussed on what was in front of him. The trail indicated the people who were walking had sped up, and he did to a point as well, wondering what could have caused it.
Eleanor fell back in Nightsong's pocket when he sped up. "Hey! What's up? What's the big rush?"
Nightsong looked down at his pocket. Had speeding up affected her that much? He hadn't gone very fast, at least for a human. He slowed down a bit. 'Whoever took the fairies sped up,' he said, looking back down at the trail.
"hmm...." Eleanor tried to think of reasons why they would speed up. "Maybe they were on some sort of deadline..."
Nightsong nodded in acknowledgement as he continued walking. He stopped frequently to take close looks at the trail, hoping for some sort of clue as to why they had begun walking faster.
