LESSONS OF TOTEMS

The Legend

“When the earth was young
and the air was sweet
And the mountains kissed the sky
In the great beyond, with its many paths
Man and nature lived side by side

In this wilderness of danger and beauty
Lived three brothers, bonded by love”

Six Thousand years ago, the Ice Age had passed and once more the earth was warm, the land covered with lush forests teeming with life. People lived at this time as well, humans perfectly in tune with Mother Nature. They lived by the sacred laws governing their land, or sea, depending whether they lived on an island or on the main land. The main laws were this:

1. You must never harm another hunter of the Earth, Sea and Sky.
2. You may only take from the Earth and Sea what you need to survive, and no more.
3. You must NEVER offend the Great Spirits for they govern our world and they will punish you with their divine power.
4. If you kill another creature, you must use all of it, not only the meat. (Ex: meat to eat, fur for clothing, bones for weapons etc.)
5. Respect all living beings, even in death their spirits are sacred.

Everyone obeyed by these rules and life was peaceful. However, one day three brothers broke three of the Main Laws. They were each out hunting by themselves to see who would bring home the greatest kill. This in itself was a breaking of a law as they were taking more than they needed. However, each brother was confronted by another hunter. The eldest was fishing when an Eagle swooped down to take his fish. Out of Anger, he threw his spear at the mighty bird, killing it instantly. The middle brother was returning with a young deer he had earlier caught when a Wolf stood in his path. The brother, frightened by the proud beast attacked it, spearing it through the heart and killing it. Finally, the youngest brother was back at their camp with his Salmon. He was waiting for his brothers to arrive when he heard a strange sound. Getting prepared to fight, he stood, spear in hand, and threw it at the source of the sound. When it stopped, he cautiously approached it, to find he had killed a Great Brown Bear.

Once the other two brothers had returned, each recounting their tales to their youngest one, they became uneasy, for they knew they had broken three laws. Never take more than you need to survive, never harm another hunter of the Earth, Sea and Sky. Last of all, Never, NEVER offend the Great Spirits. Killing three hunters and taking more than needed was bound to offend the spirits. However, when nothing happened for some time, they drifted off to sleep. That is when the Spirits acted.

The next morning, each brother awoke, only to find that in the place of their siblings lay a strange beast. Where the eldest had slept, an Eagle sat nestled, where the middle brother had lain, a wolf was stretched out and finally, where the youngest had rested a bear laid curled. As punishment for their crimes, they had been transformed into the being they had killed. Now, I could go into a long-winded story and tell you what they did and of their journeys as these creatures, but that is not what this story is about. I can tell you though, that each brother, when he eventually was returned to his human form, had learnt something. The eldest had learnt that he must let wisdom guide him, not anger and thoughtless emotions. The middle brother had learnt that he must allow the truth to guide him. That he must first accept it and learn it before making decisions. The youngest brother learnt to let Courage guide him, to face danger head on and not take a cowards way out.

In memory of their lives as beasts, each brother went their separate way, gathering people around them to form tribes. When they finally died, and their Spirits returned to the home of the Great Spirits, those they left behind named their tribes after their leaders.
The Sitka tribe
The Denahi tribe
The Kenai tribe
They never forgot the lessons their leaders taught. To this day the tribes exist and, when a person reaches sixteen, they go through the ‘coming of age’ ceremony, where they are given a totem to represent the one they must allow to guide them through life.

The names of the tribes, lyrics to the song and some of the ideas of this roleplay belong to the author of Wolf Brother, Disney and everyone involved with Brother Bear (That’s where the inspiration for this thing came from ^^)

THE STORY

http://fc06.deviantart.net/fs17/f/20...y_luna1000.jpg

This is the year 2010. Ten students, each different to each other, are called upon during assembly. An old Inuit woman has been invited to give a talk about her people and their traditions. She gives each of the ten students a small wooden carving of an animal hooked onto a piece of leather cord to go around their necks. Their totems. Naturally some will find this stupid and will forget about it, take it off the moment they sit down and stuff it into their bags. Others may find it sweet and keep the totems on. It doesn’t matter what they do to the totem, as long as they keep them.

Not long after the assembly, each student will begin to feel strange, drowsy and nauseous. They will go to their medical centre to lie down for a bit, hoping the strange feelings will go away. When they next wake up, they are certainly no longer in school.

These ten students have been transported back in time to the same era as the Sitka, Denahi and Kenai tribes when they were still new. Naturally, they have no idea how or why they are here, only that for some reason, they all have their totems around their necks. They will be found by a nomadic Shaman who will understand their situation, for he has been pre-warned by the Great Spirits. He will tell them that to return to their true time, they must go to the top of the Mountains, where the lights of the Great Spirits touch the earth (The aurora borealis). Will they be able to make it back to their time? Or will they be for ever stuck in an age of mystics, of forest law and hunters, where the Great Spirits rule supreme.

The Spirits tell us stories. We just need to listen.

----------

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Resident Jerk - Jauni – This guy is the typical ‘bad boy’. He’s the school’s bully and no one messes with him. Quite often he’ll skip class and he has already been held back a year. This means he’ll be a year older then everyone else. Like The Slut, he lives life in the fast lane, always out for excitement and the next ‘Kick’. His totem will be the Deer of Kindness and his best friend is King of the World.

The Class Clown - Cows Go Moo– It’s obvious he can’t take anything seriously. To this guy life is one big party, a laugh, a joke. And why shouldn’t it be? Life is so much more fun the way he lives it, so he says. He’s not exactly the brightest bulb of the batch, and this has got him in quite a bit of trouble, both in and outside of school and he’s currently failing academically. But, is there a reason why he acts like such a clown? Or does he do it naturally? His best friend is The Slut and his totem is the Eagle of Wisdom.

The Plastic - Lady Chello – No she is not stupid, and no she is not some Barbie doll, though sometimes you’d think she was. This girl will do anything to fit in with the crowd, much like The Secret Keeper. However, she prefers to change everything about herself instead of lie. This girl has changed her personality, her wardrobe style, everything about her. You could hardly tell between her and a crowd of similar looking and acting girls. She follows the changing trends religiously and would NEVER be friends with a ‘social reject’. Her Best friend is Little miss Perfect and her totem is the Cat of Individuality.

The Slut - Tim'rous Beastie– Well what would you expect with her? She’s been with pretty much every guy in the school and town and isn’t above going round for seconds. Needless to say she’s no pure or innocent little girl, certainly no virgin. This girl lives life in the fast lane and she’s accustomed to getting what she wants through charming the guys. Her totem is the Swan of Love and her Best friend is The Class Clown.

King of the World - Remaro – As his title suggests, he cares only for himself. To him, he is the only person worth caring about, he is the most important. It does help he’s pretty darn rich and could probably get any girl if he tried. He’s not above stepping on people to get what he wants, after all, who cares about them? Quite a few people want to be his friend, but his best friend is The Resident Jerk. His totem is the Fox of Sight.

The ‘Emo’ - Remaro– Poor girl has had life pretty rough. For whatever reason, she’s had a bad childhood and isn’t having a very good time of life at the moment. Because of this she doesn’t let anyone particularly close to her, other than her best friend, The Teacher’s Pet. She’d rather hurt others then let herself get hurt again. Her totem is the Otter of Healing.

The Teacher’s Pet - Cows Go Moo – You can probably guess this guy is pretty smart. He’s well behaved and all the teachers love him. However, this is bound to lead to bullying isn’t it? It always does. He can’t stick up for himself poor guy and regularly gets bullied in various ways because he’s a ‘swot’, a ‘boffin’. His closest friend is The Emo and his totem is the Bear of Courage.

Little miss Perfect - jehneefur – She’s involved in pretty much everything. Captain of the sports team, Class President, Head chorister and who knows what else? She’s probably amongst the most popular people, but that doesn’t mean she’s being herself. How could you be if you’re pressurised by parents to do better, to be better than your siblings, to be the best? She’s quite comfortable with her life at the moment, her closest friend is The Plastic and her totem is the Horse of Freedom.

The Secret Keeper - Jauni– She’s the newest addition to this school, it’s her first year here. Already she’s managed to fit in with the popular crew, but not without a lot of hard work. This girl has a dark secret she will never tell anyone, after all, it’s the reason she had to leave her previous school. Now she’s willing to do anything to fit in here and keep her past mistakes hidden, even if she has to lie her way to the top of the ranks. Her best friend is Mr Stability and her totem is the Wolf of Truth.

Mr Stability - Raccoon_Chronus – To put it bluntly, he despises change. Anything out of the ‘norm’, anything different from his every-day life is a No-no with this guy. Change can be a scary thing for some people, but this guy will refuse to acknowledge it, going on as if everything were still normal. You could say he’s ‘stuck in a rut’, not moving forwards or backwards. Same routine each day, same friends, same prejudices, same grades. If something were to come along out of the ordinary, he’s the kind of guy to turn his back on it and continue as per usual. His totem is the Fish of Adaption and his closest friend is The Secret Keeper.

I jumped slightly in alarm as the shrill bell signalling the end of assembly sounded. It was like someone had taken one of those horns and blown it right in my ear. Glancing around, I was surprised to see how quickly the hall had begun to clear, already most people were out of their seats. Slowly, reluctantly, I stood as well. I had been having a rather pleasant dream to be honest, nothing really exciting. You know how people dream of flying at least once in their lives? Something like that anyway. Well, I dreamt I was soaring, beautiful black wings were attached to my back but they didn’t hurt, it was nice and warm and everywhere was sunny. Then the stupid bell had to go and wake me up. Grumbling under my breath I gradually began to shuffle towards the doors, reaching up to flip up the big hood of my coat. This was a little tip I’d learnt a couple of years back. Keep a hood over your head and people tend to ignore you. It gives off this whole aura of ‘don’t come near me or bother me’ and ‘back off b****’ and almost ensures you’re left to your own devices. Fairly useful when avoiding human contact in the bustling corridors. As I walked, I clung onto the small wooden charm that was strung on a rough cord necklace. The charm was carved into the shape of an otter, a fairly simple carving, but at the same time cute. When the old lady had given it to me, I couldn’t help but smiling. Otters are one of my favourite animals, just under all felines and rabbits.

Thinking about the woman made me shudder slightly. She’d been kinda strange when she gave me the ‘totem’ as she called it. Actually, she gave nine others to the other students who’d been forced up onto the stage. Public appearances aren’t my thing so I had remained effectively silent as a mouse while I was up there. I wish I had asked her to explain why she was giving us the totems. The names of them were weird as well. I mean, the Otter of Healing? I didn’t need healing, I was perfectly fine. Ok, strike that, I’m not perfectly fine, but I don’t need healing, I’m coping fine by myself.

I had traipsed back to my first period. Double Maths. It must be the most boring lesson I’ve ever had, why anyone invented the subject is beyond me. After all, all anyone really needs to know is how to add and subtract, occasionally multiply. None of this algebra, trigonometry and circle circumference stuff. Anyway, it was about halfway through that something strange suddenly happened. I was writing the notes down, head bent over the desk. Occasionally I would glance up to get a better look at the board. I missed Vinh. Normally we had similar lesson schedules, but it seemed he wasn’t with me for maths, either that or I’d gone blind and hadn’t seen him. It wouldn’t have been the first time. A sudden wave of cramps in my side forced my eyes to widen slightly. I hated getting cramps, they made me breathless, I couldn’t breathe too deeply or they’d get worse. Thankfully the cramps faded away fairly quickly, but what came after them made the pain almost preferable. I became light headed, my vision becoming a little blurred. Nausea was building up inside of me and I had to force myself not to start gagging there and then.

I must have looked pretty pale because when I raised my hand the teacher looked a little wary.
“Sir, I’m feeling really sick. I gotta go to the med centre.” I said, groaning faintly as I almost threw up. I hate being sick, definitely not on my list of priorities of what I want to be. The teacher nodded his bald little head, waving me away without a word or protest. Not that I was complaining. I staggered from the room, using the wall as support as I made my way down the corridor. There was very little doubt that on reaching the medical centre they would get me to lie down, call home, find no one there then let me stay until the end of school. For all their ‘professions in medicine’ stuff they weren’t very good at making you feel better. Sure enough that’s what happened. According to the nurse I had a high temperature, it was probably some stomach bug. She led me to one of the beds, hard and stiff, I really wasn’t looking forwards to spending my day in it. After giving me some water and a pill of some sort, the nurse abandoned me, again, not that I was about to start complaining. I laid down, propped up on several pillows. Perhaps I could try to sleep? My eyes flickered shut, although I was wide awake. I could hear every little sound , able to concentrate on them more with my eyes closed. So it was no surprise that I heard the medical centre’s door open again, causing me to look up to see who would possibly be joining my sickly company.

((I'll post my second character after a couple of other intros otherwise this'll be too long XD))

Lady Chello 04-01-2010 12:14 AM

I had been in my boring English class when the bell rang in the hall. I rolled my eyes along with the others in my little group I had found this year. None of us really wanted to go to the assemble. But it had to be better than going of Shakespeare's random poems, that our boring teacher found amazing. Instead of giving us something to entertain our brains like Poe. The monotone man gave us boring views of love, in old English. The poems where bad enough put keeping them in Old English was just torture. I kept in steeped with the others in my group as we made our way down the halls. We each took our respective places as we lessened to the strange women. There was something about her that made me feel uncomfortable just looking at her. I had some colorful words for the women as she picked me along with nine others to come on stage. She gave me some weird thing with a cat on it.

I sat in Biology class as I stared at the totem around my neck by this time. The others had said that is was befitting me. They thought is was kind of ironic that I had received the cat, since my nick name was Cat. "Cat of Individuality. What dose she know about me?" I was a little mad and to be honest afraid. Did the women know my secret? She couldn't have I decided as I began to work on my experiment again.

Halfway through the class I started to feel strange. I thought it was from staring down at the microscope to long. Though when I closed my eyes and laid my head down on the table, my world still spun like I was on a spinning top. My stomach began to act up cramping and making me very uncomfortable. By this time my teacher was by my desk staring down at me worried. "I-I think I need to go to the nurse please." I finally managed to slip out of my lips as I wished I could have died. The others in my group where trying to help me but I assured them I was fine though I almost feel just outside the door from being so dizzy. I stumbled down to the nurse's room and took a set on one of the beds. I noticed one of the others with the totems was there too. Her name was Diana....I think. I can't be sure she wasn't part of my group so I can't be sure her true name. I just know that she was looked down upon by the people around me. Personally I thought she was an ok person.

jehneefur 04-01-2010 01:53 AM

There goes the bell- time for science class.. She stood with the rest of the swarm of students- smoothing out her skirt as she shuffled down the aisle, eager to escape the weird aura the assembly had cast. Her unoccupied hand raised to the "totem" hanging along her collar bone. .. The Horse of Freedom She hurried to her pocket to text Kay about how totally weird it was that we both got a totem. Out of all the totems, Victoria wouldn't have wanted any other one.. horses are the most royal and majestic of the lot- and it being of Freedom! ..Who doesn't like freedom?? She snickered remembering the good laugh everyone had at "The Fish of Adaptation".

Finally making it through the cramped hallways to her science class- she sat at her desk and got ready for the class to start- of course ignoring the stares and glances of the less popular beings.. Oh.. She turned her cell back to silent as the class began to start along with a head ache. It would pass though they usually do.. She took an Advil and tried to listen to Mrs. Collins but it just got worse. Ughh! I can't miss this- we have a test tomorrow! The pangs were unrelenting- sweat drops started to form above her brow and her stomach began to turn from impending dizziness. I have to get out of here before I barf in front of everyone!! She jumped up leaving her belongings- Mrs. Collins understood the weary yet urgent look on Vic's face and nodded in approval as Vic dashed out the door.

Despite her deteriorating condition, she still could not let go of the anxiety of missing a class- let alone with a test tomorrow. How long would she have to study to make up for missing it? What about history class next period? She finally stumbled into the medical center- immediately resting in the first seat she saw.
"I don't feel good.. at all...", she murmured- defeated by this overwhelming sickness and hardly noticing the nurse walking her over to a bed and laying her out.

Jauni 04-01-2010 02:30 AM

I got jabbed a few times by the idiot who I was forced to sit next to for this equally stupid assembly. Jumping slightly, I quickly turned to him with an annoyed glare before smacking his hand away. He then pointed at the room, which I finally noticed that everyone was packing up for the next period. Rolling my eyes, I began to dig out for my iPod. Thankfully my boring physics teacher decided to let us leave, so we didn't have to go back to the classroom. Well, this assembly probably took all of his precious lecturing time anyway. Mentally, I was glad... I didn't want to go back to the classroom anyway. Can people be any slower...? I wondered as I held onto my folder, waiting for the student traffic to disperse. Well, I can probably put my earphones while I basically waddled my way to the exit of this building. So I did that, untangling the cord and placing each bud on their respected place. Staring down at the screen, I quickly looked around... But being rather indecisive, I decided to just put the silly thing on shuffle. I listened to all of these songs, because if I didn't, they would have been removed. I smiled, the song Qing Tian/Cloudless Day by Jay Chou was the first thing that started to play. That's what I needed, a complete relaxer and this song was a good one to listen to while I walked around.

As I placed the iPod in my pocket, an object suddenly fell. Staring down on the floor, I noticed the totem that I was given to fell from my jacket pocket. For a moment, I just stared at the said item... Watching as it rolled off the concrete and laid right side up on the corner of the glass. I kind of frown as some kid stepped on my little gift and getting it all dirty. Within that moment, I walked over to the side and picked up the wooden totem. The Wolf of Truth... I remembered the old lady at the assembly tell me when she handed me the totem. Wolf of Truth? What truth? I hope she wasn't implying anything... Or it could have been a coincidence? That definitely had to be the case... It was a weird name but I merely thanked her when she gave it to me. The old lady was weird... But it wasn't too surprising since I had grandparents who were just as weird as she was... Ah, the stereotypical Asian family. That caused me to smile as I brushed the carving off. It was still a bit dirty, so I quickly made my way toward the girl's restrooms and decided to give the poor thing thing a better cleaning.

As I finished rising out the dirt and mud, I then watched over to grab some paper towels. Smiling silently and still listening to my music, I gently dried off the said totem and examined it. It was pretty cool looking, I did like wolves but I wasn't obsessed. Oh well, another decoration for my room, I told myself as decided to wear the totem around my neck.

My next period was probably one of the classes that I somewhat enjoyed. It was my Foreign Language class... Japanese to be exact. It was an interesting class and I actually did enjoy it. But we had an oral presentation today and I wasn't mentally prepared for that. But as long as I finished the one minute project, then I should be fine. I had practiced at least a few times a day and I actually had everything memorized... But I hated standing in front of people and being the center of attention. However, I needed to suck it up and just get it over with.

After attendance was taken, Tomoe-sensei went straight for the project. Taking out her little name bucket thing, she pulled out a strip of paper... "Carter-san?" I froze, the the air around me started to feel heavy and thick. I suddenly didn't feel all that well and I noticed that my hand began to shake. The girl who sat next to me whispered if I was okay and I just nodded and attempted to walk straight to the front of the class. I had a bit of a stumble, but everyone thought I was just being silly because I was the first one up. I found myself in the front of the class room, my eyes staring at my peers, who started to get really blurry for some reason. "Tomoe-sensei, Runa-chan guai ga waru soo shi nai.../Teacher, Runa doesn't look so good..." I overheard the same girl who questioned me call out. For some reason her voice sounded so deep...

"Carter-san, daijoubu desu/Miss Carter, are you okay?" Tomoe-sensei questioned me as I stood rather awkwardly in the front. Placing my hand on my head, I started to suddenly start breathing heavily and before I could speak... I saw nothing but darkness.

I don't know how long I was out, but I regained my conscious... I was on the floor and I saw a few of the school staff surrounding me. At first everything was blurry, but my eyes finally decided to work again and I was helped up by someone. The staff members questioned me if I was alright and I just dumbly nodded, still rather dizzy. A few more moments passed by and I was then helped into one of the carts and taken to the nurse's office. As I was escorted inside, I noticed that I wasn't the only one there... Three other girls were there as well. The same three girls who were also given totem figures at the assembly earlier today. But before I could do anything, I was then taken to one of the extra beds that wasn't occupied by anyone and helped to lay down. And before the staff member left, she informed me that they were going to try to get a hold of one my family members to pick me up since I was still pale looking. With that, the woman left... Leaving me alone with the other three girls.

[OoC| I'll do the same since this was kinda long... xDD]

Cows Go Moo 04-01-2010 02:50 AM

Quote:

“Perhaps I know best why it is man alone who laughs; he alone suffers so deeply that he had to invent laughter.”-Friedrich Nietzsche
History was a class that bored me to tears. So much so that I had decided to make a game of things. Rather than pay attention to what my teacher was doing I'd take a shot (of energy drink) every time that my teacher either said "um" or referred to the textbooks issued to us for what to say. It was ironic in a way since he was also the teacher that supervised the Speech and Debate Club of the school. It was ironic in the way that he told us not to use such fillery words when presenting presentations (or perhaps hypocritical is the word? I don't know. I'm not all that good at them). And the last piece of oddness here is that I'm the one using one of his techniques: repetition. Well not really, but I feel like he's rubbing off on me.

The bell had rang and left me to leave class, admiring my eagle "totem" that I received at the assembly earlier today (during math class too so three cheers for missing boring stuff!). With my stuff packed and my bladder full, I headed to the bathroom, twirling my wooden carving as if it were a hall pass. Eagle of Wisdom? I'm sure that a few people got a laugh out of that knowing how my grades were. You see, during the assembly, me and a bunch of other kids were asked to get onto stage where some old woman passed out one totem to each of us. I hadn't paid much attention to the others, but I knew that Archie (my oh-so clever for the narcissist who's got every Betty and Veronica vying to be his friend) had received the Fox of Sight and Sunshine had gotten the Deer of Kindness. Now that I think about it, I'm starting to wonder if it was opposite day in Totemland.

But I'm getting off topic. After my whole bathroom business I headed towards English class, an old pass from my teacher in my pocket in case someone decided to stop me (not that I couldn't charm my way out if I wanted to). Arriving in class, I slowly made my way to the back, snickering at how oblivious my teacher was. According to the girl next to me, she had been ranting on about her life as opposed to talking about the book we were reading. Usually, this would be the class that I napped in or did something constructive (like play flash games), but for some reason I felt weird and not just from my excessive drinking! "You okay? You look pale," a concerned Alyssa asked. I simply shrugged it off, though couldn't ignore the oncoming migraine. "I'm fine. I mean come on. Does this look like a face that's in pain?" I asked back with a cheeky grin, biting back my pain.

"Considering the stuff you've pulled, yes," Alyssa said. I glanced over at my teacher's desk, noticing the "temporary" fixes for her rolling desk that that been disassembled previously and in effect, caused all of her papers to fall off into a haphazard stack. "Oh please, I'm a saint," I scoffed before a wave of pain struck me, "a saint that's going to go to the nurse." Disregarding a small "I knew it", I raised my hand and waved it around several times, only to get ignored by my senile teacher. With a strained sigh, I realized that it was better to just walk out of class and did so, but not without peaking back in to see if she noticed me. Nope, nothing. As I continued, I noticed myself clutching my totem more closely as if it were some sort of stress ball despite that it did me no good. Thankfully, the nurse wasn't far and I was able to make it there without passing out (or screaming in pain) where I found others around, all seemingly in the same predicament. What was this: some new virus that gets transferred through totems?

((Same as pretty much everyone else doubling.))

Wondering about PE class, Luke Nugent soon began to feel a pain in his side. Sitting down on the bleachers he looked around. People were chatting and being completely annoying. They had just come form the assembly and they were hyped up and majorly hyperactive, Luke hated this. Hyperness leads to changes, which lead to a schedule deficiency. Sighing, Luke let out a large breath of air as the teacher yelled at him to get back on the field. Rolling his eyes, he made his way onto the field. He does not play football so why was he on the field. The girls get to sit on the bleachers and do nothing. Luke thought of this as unfair.

Luke watched as the players on the other team soon headed his way. “Why are they coming to me?” “LUKE RUN!!!” Luke looked down he had the ball. “Oh Holly f-“ he could not even get out his words as he was soon tackled and dog piled on top of. Luke’s eyes closed as the pain surged throughout his body. Soon little by little the weight was lifted from his body and he was being lifted in the air. He opened his eyes and noticed that he was over some one’s shoulder as he was soon in the locker rooms.

“Nugget lets see what hurts.” Coach started to poke in random place, feel up his arms and legs until Luke said ow. Wincing he held his arm at his side and shook his head. “I’m fine coach, really now.” The coach tried to argue but Luke held to his ground. Luke was soon left alone in the locker rooms. He grabbed his t-shirt, jeans, and shoes and headed into one of the stalls. Changing from his PE clothes into his normal wear he soon walked back out and worked on his hair. Spraying it in place and making sure it was perfect, he put all the PE stuff in his locked and grabbed his backpack. He waited outside for the bell to ring, as he then walked off to photo class. He spoke to no one on the way to classes for he wanted to be early he hates being late.

Walking into class, he sat down at her desk and put the computer on. While it was loading, he looked through his backpack and soon found that totem that the Inuit woman had given him and a few others. He looked at his, Fish of Adaptation, and smiled. Looking at his cloths, he did not know if he should wear it. Looking at his belt, he soon hooked it to her belt and wore it there.

Class soon began and as usual, he went online to surf the web. He was busy with nothing when all of the sudden his arm started to hurt uncontrollably. It froze up and then spazzed up. He cried softly to himself as other weird feeling happened to him. His head started to spin everything around him was spinning. He stood up slowly and walked to the teacher’s desk, while holding onto chairs, desks, and some people. “Teach, I’m not feeling well at all.” The woman looked at Luke and nodded, she could tell right away. “Riley take Luke to the nurse.” Riley nodded and took Luke’s arm and put it around his shoulders, grabbing Luke’s backpack they soon walked over to the nurse’s office. Luke could see other people were there, his friend Runa, or as he called her Ruru.

“Ruru?”
he asked softly as Riley put him on the bed near her. Leaning on his side, he looked over at the girl. His sight was there but things were spinning, bleeding into one another. A small but very powerful headache soon made home in Luke’s head. Closing his eyes, everything seemed to stop spinning and his mind was clearer. “maybe just a little nap, then back to normal.”

Block. Block. Fake kick. Upper cut. Grab. And flip.

"Third point! Team Red!" the referee called as I pressed my fist against my opponent's chest. The kid looked up at me, this hilariously astonished look on his stupid face as I stared down at him. I couldn't help but smile smugly at him, I figured as much that this kid was nothing but talk. But then again, I was also angry at the moment as well... You see, I decided to actually come to school today. I had a break from work and I was planning to go see my grandparents after class. And of all things, we had an assembly today and some Indian lady picked out random students from the crowd and oh so lucky me got chosen to get a little gift. Wanna know what that gift was? According to her, it was called a totem... Yeah like a totem pole but I call it a damn little kid's chew toy. Wanna know what's worst? I got the the most girly one. The Deer of effin Kindness. Yeah... Deer... Kindness... Me? Oh hell no! I just wanted to stab that old hag with that Deer's antlers, yeah that's how pissed I was.

"Uhm, can I get up now?" I heard the kid ask me, causing me to break from my thoughts. I only glared, before I willingly brought back my fist and stood up. And due to respect, I bowed to him but the kid didn't... He ran out of the room. I overheard a few of my teammates snicker loudly and I could already feel the hot glare of our teacher telling them to shut up. I knew that because it suddenly got silent again. Turning around, I then rolled my shoulder as my teacher walked up to me and patted the shoulder that was bothering me. "Another undefeated round Mr. Sun... Keep this up and I may consider you into the Captain spot next time promotions come around." I nodded, before I was greeted by the people I suppose I was to call teammates. To be honest, I really didn't like any of them... But I tolerated it because I somewhat owed it to my teacher about giving me this opportunity. Sure, at this rate, I could probably go to an outside school for Judo, but these people somewhat grew onto me.

Like hell I'd let them know that... I added as I was handed a towel to wipe off the sweat I managed to build up. Normally I'd never really work up a sweat, but since I came out of that assembly, I suddenly felt really dizzy. Although I pushed it off... I continued with my matches for today. Honestly, I had a really bad migraine and I was still undefeated? Ugh... That really proved a lot of our opponent school.

As we were dismissed, I decided to take the outside route to the locker room. I really needed the fresh air because my migraine suddenly got worse. Dragging myself to the door, I leaned against the building's wall, closed my eyes and crossed my arms. I had no idea why, but I really felt like crap... And all the noises of giggling girls and people talking super loudly at the PE grounds was starting to bug me. Screw it, I'm going to go to the nurse's office... I told myself as I ignored a few girls giggling near me. Oh my God, it's Danny Sun! Isn't he so sexy? And you should see him with Archer and Freddie, they're so hot when they're walking together!

I suddenly had this urge to punch Mickey.

Well, that kinda got me in a happier mood as I entered the locker rooms. The guys were still hanging around until the bell rung, but I decided to take a quick shower before I went to the nurse's office. After that short rinse, I dried myself off and slipped on the clothes I had wore to school today. The wife beater (where the hell did that name come from anyway?), an over shirt, my loose fitting jeans and my shoes. Stuffing my judo suit into my duffel bag, I had accidentally dropped the Deer totem I got from that weird old lady. I decided to ignore the questions from my teammates as I stuffed it back into the duffel bag and left the locker room.

I felt a bit better when I walked outside. My hair was still a bit wet, so it cooled me down as I felt the heat of the sun's rays. This cause my migraine to pound harder. I don't often get sick, but I often suffered really bad migraines whenever smoke, alcohol or some other weird scents came my way. Which I found really weird about this migraine. It basically appeared out of nowhere, but I got permission from the school to take Excedrin whenever my migraines popped up. Gotta thank the grandmother one of these days for arranging that for me.

As I entered the nurse's office, I noticed that I wasn't the only one there. What the hell? I kinda stared at each and every one of them... It was the same group who received a totem pole at the assembly. Shaking my head, I decided to take a seat on the chair that was near the door... All I wanted was my Excedrin and I could leave.

Ugh, Fred Flintstone was here...
I frowned and turned away. I didn't need a bigger headache than what I was suffering already. But it seemed that would be too late. All we were missing was the Leonardo DiCaprio wannabe and we'd be partying.

I laughed.

Quote:

"Treat everyone with politeness, even those who are rude to you - not because they are nice, but because you are." -Author Unknown
"Swot!" "Boffin!" "Nerd!"

The words were nothing new to me since I heard them everyday and if I was lucky, those insults would be the only things thrown at me. Of course, this wasn't one of those lucky days. Today I was on the receiving end of the moves of the guys who didn't make the Judo team. "Oof!" It was the only sound that I could utter out of my mouth when I was punched in the belly. I had built up a slight resistance to pain after all of these years, but couldn't help doubling over. It hurt, it really did, but I couldn't fight back or even talk back. I couldn't hurt them even if I wanted to. "Please...stop," I groaned, gradually getting up. I soon realized that it would have been better staying down. They kicked me again and sent me to the ground, though not before noticing something wooden on my neck. "Oh what's this?" one of them asked, pulling it off of my neck. "Hey that's mi-" I couldn't finish my sentence, suddenly feeling a shot of pain go through my skull.

"Oh that's right, you were in the assembly. Bear of Courage huh? So much for that coward!" Laughing like a pack of hyenas, they threw my totem to the linoleum floor and left me to writhe in my pain. Slowly though, I was able to get up, holding myself as I did so I grabbed my totem, stuffing it in my pocket as I dusted myself off. It was a common occurrence nowadays, but I still had the hope that they would someday stop, at least for a day. I mean, I let them copy my homework so what more did they want? For me to kill myself? With a pained sigh, I slogged my way to my locker and grabbed my Calculus textbook (as well as a brownie), heading to class before the bell rang. I soon arrived and took my seat in the front, doing the warm-up on the board and then waiting for the rest of the class to follow suit. I really did miss Di though. She made math class fun, even if she was one of the only friends that I had here.

Sadly, this made me alone in this class. I barely knew anyone here and those that I did know didn't bother to talk to me. I guess this is what happens when most of your friends are on the Internet and Xbox Live huh? It leaves you a little introverted. Class continued on at a snail pace with me reading ahead in the textbook while the teacher guided everyone through the notes slowly. I felt something sharp poking at the back of my head though (only irritating me further) and causing me to look back and find two girls seemingly innocent. "Did you need something?" I asked, trying to be polite. Maybe they were just trying to get my attention. "Yeah, your spiky ass hair is blocking my sight so how about turning back and shutting up?" one of the girls quipped...or maybe not. Maybe they just liked screwing with me. Feeling deflated and full of pain, I slumped over, chin resting on my forearm as I watched the teacher put up some practice problems. "Now then in order to find the answer to this you-Vinh are you okay?" He looked at me with concern before I nodded briskly.

After a boatload of arguing I ended up being written a pass and as I walked to the nurse's office I ate part of my brownie, hoping that it was simply a hunger headache and here's a spoiler: it wasn't. Once I arrived at the medical center, I peaked inside and was immediately plopped over where the beds were, my face paling (even more) when I saw the others around, one of them being Daniel Yu Yi Sun. He was the resident jerk, the bad boy of the school who would pretty much snap me in half if he wanted. Suddenly I was feeling less headache-y and more skittish.

Remaro 04-02-2010 09:54 PM

I yawned casually as I kicked my size six feet up onto the desk in front of me. The chair I was sitting in was tilted back onto two legs, balancing precariously on the carpeted floor. It’s a usual position for me though, one I would like to say I have perfected over the years. I had both arms crossed over my chest and in one hand I held the strange little wooden...Thing...

A tacky little ‘gift’ really. Some old woman was standing on the stage in the assembly earlier, preaching on about her ancient, dead culture. As if anyone was actually listening. I mean, who cares about some spirit stuff and tribes? What does that have to do with our modern life with stuff like technology? Or better yet, indoor plumbing? The girls sitting next to me giggled slightly as I turned the wooden totem around between my fingers. I couldn’t help smirking slightly. The thing wasn’t even carved very well, it only vaguely resembled the animal it was meant to be. Fox of Sight, what the hell was that meant to mean? In my opinion the old woman must have been a little senile when she gave it to me. Perhaps the Lion of Royalty would have been better, after all, you can’t get much better than me around here. The others were pretty amusing too. My two friends for example got totems as well, weren’t we all such lucky privileged kids huh? Sunshine got the Deer of Kindness. I couldn’t help cracking up when he got given that thing, it was so far from the truth, and hell, it was probably the girliest of the lot! Freddie got Eagle of Wisdom, again pretty bad picking from the mad old woman. She must have gotten them mixed up or something.

Now I know I’m sounding just a tad big headed, but when you look at the scum I’m surrounded by, you’d realise it’s pretty true. Sluts wanting to get into bed with the nearest person, weaklings hiding beneath another’s strength yet pretending they’re tougher. It’s a cut throat world round here, and we haven’t even left school yet. The final bell sounded, declaring any new comers to the class room as officially late. Of course, there were a couple dashing in, only to get a ’firm scolding’ from the teacher before being pointed to their seats. I could only offer a contempt smirk, pitiful really, how could they ever think they will amount to anything with such tardiness? At a look from the teacher, I raised an eyebrow before sighing and letting my feet slip down from the desk, returning the chair to its correct, upright position. Geography was always pretty boring. I mean, it’s the same kind of stuff really,. ‘Look at this rock here! This is a volcano! Earthquakes are very dangerous’. After a while of the guy speaking I found myself slowly beginning to drift off...Again. What can I say? Unless it’s worthy of my attention I’m unlikely to stay awake.

It must have been only a couple of minutes before someone was shaking my shoulder. I glanced sideways to see one of the girls, this one seemed particularly clingy, staring at me anxiously. I attempted to give her my trademark smirk, the one that always got them giggling. However it didn’t quite come off as that. Picture a pained grimace, then double it. Got the image? Yeah that’s what I looked like. Stabs of pain in my gut had me groaning softly as I closed my eyes, the pain quickly migrating a little to join my head in on the fun.

“Archer Saunders, is there something wrong?” I squinted up at the teacher now standing beside my desk. Why were the lights so bright? It hurt to open my eyes even that little bit. Nodding slightly, I bit my lip to prevent another groan, though clutched my stomach at the same time. I hate showing pain, but man did this really hurt, I mean, imagine getting kicked in the area where the sun don’t shine, imagine that happening repeatedly for the next hour. Pretty damn painful in my opinion. After a quick conversation the teacher backed away to let me stagger to my feet. It took a while, but I was able to get myself out of the classroom without falling over anything or looking stupid. Not that I ever look stupid.

I’ve never been one for looking at the time. As long as I’m never late, or too early for that matter, then I don’t really care. So I wasn’t sure how long it took me to struggle to the medical centre, too long though. I was feeling like I was going to collapse on the floor any second, not something I wanted to do in front of anyone!. Still squinting slightly, I let the nurse guide me to the room with all the beds. I wasn’t listening to her rambling on at me, though I did catch something about some bug racing around suddenly. Were there others who’d gotten sick or something? I forced my eyes open wider as I slowly sat, then laid down on the bed, only to have them open fully in surprise. God how many people were in here? More importantly, why was Sunshine, I mean Danny, and Freddie here? They were perfectly fine earlier. I noticed a few others, seven others actually. Not that it mattered, I didn’t know most of them, which meant they were nobodies. Most of them anyway.

“Hello Sunshine, someone been raining on your parade today?” I asked in a teasing tone to Danny, who happened to be in the bed beside me. I can’t resist those sun jokes, and yes I know they’re bad. But I’m not gonna be the guy who passed up on peeving the guy off, it’s too much fun.

Jauni 04-03-2010 06:48 PM

Geez, what was this? Some sort of epidemic with those totem poles? That seemed to be the case since practically the entire group was in the nurse's office. I kinda just stared as I watched one by one, these people walked into the room. It was getting kind of annoying because there was too many people in one room, not to mention those Three Stooges were also in the same room... Together. That only meant one thing... One hell of a headache. I hope someone hurries and picks me up... I didn't want to stay in this room any longer.

However, my attention was averted when I heard my special nickname coming from my only best friend. Only my best friend ever called me that... Not many people really knew because I tried not to acknowledged it too much. But since he was also in the nurse's office, of course I'd be really concerned. As I somewhat wobbled from my bed, I overheard a snicker of somesort... My eyes landing on a certain person who I didn't like nor knew all that well. And I also didn't want to get to know him either... He was part of that group of people. The top three I sometimes heard people say; they had an semi inner circle of friends or whatever you wanted to call the group of people who hung around them at times. I managed to make my way into that group, but I hardly acknowledged them or really tried to talk to them.

I glared at the one they called Danny, or was it Sunshine? Probably because of his last name being Sun. And that jerk merely flashed me his infamous smug before he turned away to acknowledge Mr. Emperor of his imaginary dynasty (or he considered to be) himself, Archer. "Ben Dan/Idiot..." I muttered as I pushed past the two and walked over to Luke. Just because I was normally quiet, didn't mean that I was shy or timid. I'm far from that... Especially when it came down to people I did not like at all. Take the Three Stooges for example... And I don't mean the comedians either. That was until I heard him reply with the same tongue I used at him. Ah, so he wasn't completely Americanized to the point he forgot to speak or understand his native language. I decided to ignore him though... He wasn't worth the headache.

"Luke..." I gently called out as I sat on the edge of the next next to him, "Are you okay...? What happened?"

Oh hey, it's the school's punching bag! Wonderful... I was stuck in a room full of wimps, a Flintstone and sickly women. This really had to be my day... I knew I should have skipped school, but I knew my Judo Teacher would probably had my head if I skipped out on the match we had today. Rolling my eyes, I decided to ignore the Prince of Wimps and just turn away from everyone else. My head only started to pound harder as my mind began to run with all these stupid thoughts. I just wanted to take my medicine and leave this sick room.

That was until I overheard that weird looking (and personally wise) kid who I often saw hanging around that quiet new girl. I sometimes had some run ins with her and I also did share a class with her... She was a TA for my English class. She also hung around the people who hung around us (meaning Mickey Mouse and Freddie...), but that girl hardly made her existence noticeable. Ruru? What the eff? I couldn't help but snicker rather loudly as she wobbled out of bed and she turned to glare at me. Eh, well what do you know... She had another personality trait within that quiet exterior. I then decided to give her one of my trademark smirks that often made the girls swoon. But that was until Archer entered the damn room and called me by that retarded nickname he labeled me as when he found out my last name.

"Screw off, Mickey Mouse," I replied with a glare. Seriously, this guy pissed me off to no end and I still have no idea why I bother with him. But suddenly, we're best friends. I was just about ready to make him a cripple, until that Ruru... Runa chick muttered in an all too familiar language. I then turned to her, "Bi zhi biao zi/Shut up bitch!"

But she ignored me and went to comfort her future boyfriend. Ha! I'll give her some credit, not many girls had the guts to do that, especially toward me. Okay pounding headache... Pounding headache. I grunted before I began to massage my forehead. I really shouldn't get angry right now... And she was lucky.

Damn this effin world!

Cows Go Moo 04-03-2010 08:02 PM

I tried to divert my focus from the Judo master and instead look for someone else that I knew. The other two that hung around Daniel were also here as well as a few others that I didn't know so well. But even through that I found my best friend Di. Holding my head I walked over to her, though faster simply because of the feeling of a sledgehammer being driven against my head. Like everyone else, she had the same sort of illness, only for her it landed her in a bed. I wanted to ignore my pain and find someway to comfort Di be it finding some Advil or some sort of Eastern herbal cure, but I wasn't a doctor. Geez, why couldn't I have two doctors as parents (and no watching reruns of Grey's Anatomy and House does not make one a doctor)?

"You okay Di?" Okay terrible question but I wanted a gauge on whether she was dying or just in pain. "Don't worry I feel your pain too, almost literally." It was only then that I noticed the wooden totem on her neck. That's right she was on stage too like everyone else! Did only the people with totems contract this head-Ow, ow brain hurting now. Again I had to clutch my head before rubbing my temples, the throbbing pain increasing even more. Funny how I ended up going to the nurse over a headache as opposed to my physical injuries. With that I gingerly rubbed my belly where a bruise was starting to develop. It was painful to the touch, but I knew that it would be better than just letting it sit there and get worse. I closed my eyes and tried to envision a happier place free of headaches as if somehow it would make my current issues magically go away. It was better than being here at the very least.

---

"Sunflower! Mouse! You made it to our totem-flu epidemic!" I announced with a mocking happiness when I saw them arrive. We all loved to make up nicknames for each other, some nice and others...not so much. Still it didn't really get to the point of insult unless someone else used them. Then it gets a bit personal. I turned to Mr. Sunlight as he became irritated at said nickname, a laugh forming in my throat. "Aw, is little Danny Phantom getting cwanky?" I cooed, hiding my own surges of pain. I had a feeling that riling up the guy wasn't such a good idea, but I figured that if he punches my lights out that I can at least go to sleep. Maybe then the migraine would go away. I mean what's the worst that could happen? Waking up in another world like some generic video game plot?

Remaro 04-03-2010 10:08 PM

Glancing up, I was surprised to see a familiar face. Too many of the people entering the room were those who were either idiots, big shots or bullies, the type of people I tend not to associate with. One of them had even deigned to look at me, before passing out. How privilaged I felt! In case no one got that, it was riddled with sarcasm. Anyway, you could imagine the joy that was...No, would have been on my face had it not been for the pain in my stomach, when I saw my best friend.

Shaking my head slighty, I drew my legs up to create room for him to sit comfortably on the bed as well. Rolling my eyes slightly I couldn't resist a weak smirk.
"Of all the questions Vinh...What about you? You're not looking so good yourself." I answered, mentally slapping myself repeatedly. Why my voice go all breathy? Stupid cramps, stupid head ache, stupid dizzy feeling, I wouldn't have been able to speak any louder even if I was screaming. Of course, as I pushed myself up into a proper sitting position, I frowned slightly. Was he here for the same reason it seemed everyone else was? Or had he gotten hurt again? Most would say he was just clumsy, the idiot probably made up excuses. For all the brains he seemed to have in the class room, he wasn't too good at lying. Or maybe that was just me being able to see through them. I've been told I'm pretty perseptive at times.

"I think the Inuit woman poisoned us or something, kinda funny how everyone in here has a totem huh?"I mumbled, closing my eyes again. Partly from the pain and dizziness, partly because I didn't want to catch the eye of over half the people in the room. God even the top three idiots of the school were here. Ok, so maybe not all in academics...Wait strike that, I knew for a fact funny boy and his jerk friend weren't exactly brain boxes. Still, they were three of the people I did not want to see, especially in this situation.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I laughed softly, raising both hands up in an 'I surrender' motion. Boy did Danny get touchy when he wasn't feeling well or what? Well, I suppose most people tend to get a little grumpy. Not me though. I'd rather take it in my stride, try to do the things I'm still capable of doing. At this point they would be breathing and speaking, with occasional slight movement.
"God Sunshine no need to dampen down the mood" I muttered under my breath before glancing sideways again. Perfect, just what we needed to liven up this little show of the dead and dying.

Now, I might add that their little names for me do get annoying. Very annoying. I mean honestly, who wants to be associated with that damned mouse huh? It's embarrassing and childish, but I put up with it. After all, I get to tease them with their names so I might as well let them return the favoure. Raising an eyebrow slightly when Freddie called me mouse, I shrugged.
"You know me, never one to miss a good party" I answered with a smirk. I couldn't resist looking around though now. It seemed what Freddie had said was true. Everyone stuck here had been given one of those tacky, crudely made 'totems', if you could even call them that. Again I smirked as the oppertunity to tease showed itself to me. Like the man I am, I gladly took it.
"Looks like we've got a mystery on our hands 'gang'. Oh what should we do Freddie?"

Raccoon_Chronus 04-05-2010 09:29 AM

Luke listened and watched, his eyes shut slightly as he wished the spinning would stop. He wanted to nap but soon heard the words and talk from many different kids. He looked around and finally sat up, his eyes opening to see who was there. Why.. These guys.. Totems.. Weird. his mind didn’t, couldn’t go any farther then that. He watched as Kuru soon mad her way over to his bed, but not before going through the Jerk. Oh Luke wished his head were not spinning as much as it was, he really wished to beat some sense into the boy, especially after he was so rude to Runa.

When Runa came and sat next to him, he sighed and closed his eyes. What was wrong with him? “Uh, had a small crash in PE, football. Um them sudden headache and spinning, pretty much sums it up I think.” He nodded slowly she then turned to Runa, “Are you alright, well of course something must be wrong, but are you okay Ruru?” he spoke softer, not really in the mood if someone decides to say anything to them, but then again what could he really do. The most damage he could do would be to fall on the floor after trying to get up. “What happened, what is happening?” He wasn't paying to much attention to what everyone else was talking about.

[o.o was I supposed to speak in I and such.. 1st person? Cause I have not done that in so long lolz ^^; sorries]

Cows Go Moo 04-05-2010 11:20 PM

Hearing Di speak made me smile a bit inside despite the spikes of pain that shot through my head. "No use in worrying about myself. I'm more concerned about you," I said, shrugging off her worry. My bodily health didn't matter all that much since it was always between okay and beaten up where as Diana was usually healthy so something like this was a bigger cause for concern than just my small issues. "That's the only explanation I can think of. She probably hates children or something," I muttered wryly. It was probably true though. Why else would only this group of people get sick? We had nothing else in common except for these wooden carvings and the fact that we were on stage for the assembly.

---

I snickered once again when Daniel's nickname was used by Mick (Jagger), rubbing the back of my neck as if it would somehow relieve my pain. I couldn't really tell where it was since it seemed to come only it bits and where it hurt would always change, as if the pain were trying to screw with me (well it probably was). And for that matter, why exactly was it that I got this after the totem? Maybe that emo chick was right and these were poisoned. I pulled out my totem, staring at it with a slight distaste before Archer's voice pulled me out of my death glaring. "That should be my line dear," I said with a smirk, "and I'd ask Velma over there." As I said that I gestured to Vinh who simply gave me a look as if to ask "what the hell?".

Raccoon_Chronus 04-08-2010 09:50 AM

[-pokes the thread softly- peoples? anyone.. i knows there was a want to rp here.. -pokes softly- peoples?]

Jauni 04-11-2010 03:43 AM

Runa merely smiled gently before she reached up and placed a hand on Luke's arm. It felt nice to be near him again, Luke was probably her only support since she first attended this silly high school. And his presence comforted her whenever she needed it. "Really?" she questioned as she loved over him. He seemed fine, which was good... Nothing seemed off. Well, if there was something off, he probably would have already noticed it by now. The boy was like that... If anything changed, it bothered him to no end. "Ah, you don't have to worry about me," she laughed gently as she gave him a small smile, "I just had a small fainting spell. It happened during my oral presentation... You know." Again she laughed as she pulled her hand away and placed it on his head, "You know... Your guess is as good as mine. Probably a virus or bug going around..."

"Totem flu epidemic...?" I unconsciously repeated, mainly to myself. Seriously, that guy gets weirder and weirder everytime I see him. Whatever. Shaking my head, I only decided to just give my best friend a look before I leaned against the wall. Really, I had a bad migraine... That Disney reject wasn't making it any better and I was beginning to suffocate in this tiny room.

"You guys are really cracking me up..." I muttered as I lazily turned my head to face the two, "I'm laughing so hard... I can hardly contain myself. My God! Just shut up already!" I actually really didn't mean to suddenly yell so loud. But the violent pounding was seriously bugging the hell outta me. And it only got worse when I rose my voice. Awww... What the hell? I groaned as I turned away from the crowd and held my head.

[OoC| o.O What the hell? I didn't realize that I typed in the 3rd person... xDD Aw well, I don't feel like fixing it.]

My eyes slowly open as I drifted in and out of reality. I had been awoke from the commotion that was erupting in the room. As my eyes adjusted I could tell that the room wasn't as empty as it had been. I moved my hand to my pocket where my phone was singing the owl city letting me know some one had texted me. I opened my flip screen as I read the text smiling slightly as I wished I didn't feel so bad. It was Vic. I shifted my eyes as I saw Vick in the room with me. I sat up on the bed as I looked over at her. "Hey Vick, do you think this was from those totems we got?"

Drifting in and out from nausea to pain, Victoria lay deathly still as if a suspicious boogie man were beneath her. Why meeee???! As if her parents and school weren't enough of a burden, now her health and well-being too? Tears began to well up but listening to the commotion kept them at bay- She couldn't cry in front of her fellow student body.. that's just embarrassing.

She was so caught up in how terrible life was at the moment; she barely realized Kay was in the room as well.
"Hey Vick, do you think this was from those totems we got?"
Vic's eyes popped open at the mention of her name. "Huuuh.. Oh hey Kay. Sorry I'm really struggling here.." She rolled over grumpily onto her side towards Kay. Uhm yah, I guess so. Stupid totem.. If I'd known this would of happened..grr.. I'm missing History right now because of this." She let out a painful sigh, biting her bottom lip and holding in the obscenities running behind her breath. Why can't this just end already..

"How're you holding up, Kay?"

I tried to give Vick a slight smile though I failed thanks to my world beginning to spin again. "I-I think I want to die personally. I have never been this sick. I don't think anyone else is doing any better. I just want to know what the strange woman put on these things to make us this way." I shifted my eyes to the totem around my neck not liking the cat anymore. I closed my eyes and held onto my stomach as the cramps started again. I meant it when I said I wished I could die. My world was spinning out of control, the noise from the others chartering was unbearable, and my stomach was trying kill me from the inside. I wandered if I called my parents one of them one come to get me or even pretend to care that I was so sick.

I smiled softly as Ruru seemed to be worried about my well-being. I was okay besides that spinning, pounding headache and then the pain form that game. ‘Damn, what’s wrong with us, all of us.’ I turned and looked at Runa, she seemed to still be in a good mood as all ways. I smiled and took her hand form my head, kissing it softly. “Silly Ruru.” Playfully teasing her, I then turned to the rest of the kids in this place. They seemed to still be talking about why the hell they were here. What caught my attention was Kay talking with Victoria. I listened closely, wondering what they were truly talking about. I could pick out, ‘I just want to know what the strange woman put on these things to make us this way.’ I had no idea what she was talking about, but I wanted to find out. I straightened up and looked her way, “Kay, I’m sorry, but what did you mean that you want to know what the old Inuit woman put on the totems.”

I rolled my eyes slightly as Vinh spoke. He was a good guy and friend, my only real friend to be honest. And yes, he was probably one of the smartest people I knew, but sometimes he could be really stupid. "It's that lack of concern for yourself that gets you into situations like this!" I answered with a faint smile before yawning slgihtly. What ever this illness was, it was making me begin to feel exhausted. "We can hardly be counted as kids though...I'm seventeen after all!" I protested a little before laughing again, despite the increased throbbing it caused to my already aching head. Sighing I leant back on the pillow, closing my eyes briefly before forcing them open again. It would be rude to just fall asleep in the middle of a conversation! I glanced to Vinh again, giving him a sheepish grin while listening to others. It seemed they had come to the same conclusion as me and Vinh. At least we all agreed on something.

I smirked faintly as Freddie pointed to Vinh, just resisisting in laughing at the guy's face. "I don't think she's in a good mood Freddie, perhaps we should ask Danny Phantom instead?" I offered with a sly sideways glance to Danny. However I did pause and both looked, and felt, mildly confused as Danny decided to yell at us to shut up. Hey, it was in the contract we signed! As long as we hung out together we were allowed to make fun of each other's names...So what if there hadn't been a real contract, it was metaphorical anyway and still held the same meaning! Rolling my eyes I sighed, closing them briefly. Perhaps if I fell asleep this pain would vanish for a while? It was a tempting thought to say the least.
