"I...I had some of my family reject me after I told them, so I've been reluctant to say anything to anyone else..." Kiwi murmured. He patted Meriel's head. "Th-thanks..."
Deckle seemed amused, but then frowned upon hearing the story of rejection. "Pah. I hate it when people do that. It's irritating." |
Gavin frowned, lightly punching his best friend's shoulder. "Mate, do you really think I'm gonna stop buggin you and leave you be because of that? Sure, I may be surprised and I might have been a little akward or confused at first, but trust me, you ain't getting rid of me that easy, you're stuck with me mate, get used to it!" Gavin smiled at his best friend, chuckling at Meriel's antics when she was around him.
Meriel simply smiled and then hugged Kiwi a little closer when he looked upset by the memory. "Kii! Kiwi is welcome, but Meriel doesn't know why Kiwi says thank you though.." |
"Ouch..." Kiwi rubbed his shoulder. "I should've known that, but you know me...I'm awful with self-confidence unless I've got a lot of sugar in my system..." He didn't quite know what to say to Meriel...
Deckle chuckled and turned to her. "Finding someone attractive means you think they are bodily appealing." |
Gavin patted his friend. "Well, speaking of sugar, what about that sweet snow you said we'd get mate? I want my sweet snow dammit!"
Meriel let go of Kiwi and turned to the dark haired female, smiling innocently. "But he is bodily attractive!" Hearing this, Gavin began to snicker, grinning at his best buddy. |
"..." Kiwi coughed a few times. "Um. That ice cream is sounding pretty good right now." He headed on over to the ice cream machine. "The damn thing better be working..."
Deckle was laughing silently, unable to speak too much due to how much she was laughing. |
Gavin wasn't faring any better, snickering and bent over laughing with Deckle as he watched Kiwi try to change the subject. For a flirt, he really was quite sensitive and shy around the mermaiden. Meriel was simply smiling and watching them in delight and mild confusion, following Kiwi to see what this 'ice cream' was.
Gavin scuttled over, still snorting and grinning like an idiot all the while as he got a big bowl to fill with his favorite treat. |
Kiwi got two bowls for himself and Meriel. He filled one up for her first, sticking a spoon in it, and handed it to her before filling up his bowl.
Deckle snatched a bowl off of the pile, laughing uncontrollably. "Ah...this is great..." |
Gavin of course filled his with the vanilla chocolate swirled ice cream, sprinkling it with some cherries and chocolate chips before digging in, muffled hiccups of laughter coming out in between bites.
Meriel smiled, holding the bowl steady as she scooped a rather large first bite. "Thank you Kiwi." she chimed happily, swallowing the entire spoon of the ice cold dessert. At first, she was about to say she enjoyed it, but unfortunately for Meriel, laws of the universe dictated that she get a massive case of brain and throat freeze. Whimpering, she wondered why something that tasted so good was making her head split? |
Kiwi, already having dug into his, noticed. He sighed. "Slowly...slowly. Eating too much of it at once can give you 'brain freeze.' It gives you a headache and nearly freezes your throat up."
Deckle, nearly wheezing, ate her ice cream plain. |
Gavin had to concentrate and even stop for a few moments to keep from choking on his ice cream from laughter.
Meriel nodded, eating it slower, mimicking Kiwi and almost giving up before it died down, then, she smiled, enjoying it once more. "S-sorry." |
"Nah, it's okay. That's how I was when I first tried it," Kiwi chuckled, sheepishly. "Nothing to be sorry about. It's a natural reaction." He frowned at his other companions. "Come on, guys...enough is enough."
Deckle tried to calm down, almost crying from laughter. "T-trying!" |
Gavin had his hand over his mouth, not that it was doing much good. "D-dude, you gotta admit this is hilarious!"
Meriel smiled, looking relieved that Kiwi wasn't upset at her. Mimicking him, she ate her ice cream slower and in smaller bites. "Kiwi did too?" she found it hard to believe he ever made mistakes, for the human was so..flawless and wonderful in her eyes. Soon enough, she finished her ice cream before the other three. |
Kiwi groaned. "Guys, shut it..." He scratched his head, sheepishly. "Well...we all make mistakes. We're not perfect, after all."
After a moment of collecting her breath, Deckle finally calmed down. "Ah...I'm done. I'm fine. Promise." |
"I'm not!!!" hooted Gavin cheerfully after Deckle spoke, grinning ear to ear for about 30 seconds more before he started to calm down.
Meriel nodded, but she disagreed. "Kiwi is perfect though." she murmured with a smile, content to watch him. |
Deckle lost her calm aura and began to snicker again, leaning against Gavin and watching this unfold. It was just great watching Kiwi flounder...
Kiwi cleared his throat, going a little red. "Err...thank you..." |
Gavin lost it, snorting and hooting into his hand with barely contained laughter. Gavin tried, really he did, but seeing his friend so flustered from an innocent mermaid was just too priceless and amusing.
Meriel smiled at Kiwi, nodding as she remembered the proper response to his phrase. "You're welcome." Watching the other two, she grinned, giggling a bit, despite not having a good idea of why Gavin and Deckle were so amused. |
Deckle sighed, grinning. "Ah, this is great...and you call yourself a flirt?" she accused, eyeing Kiwi pointedly. "You're no flirt if you can't take compliments like that, hun."
Kiwi grumbled, honestly wanting to chuck them overboard for a while. "Thaaaanks..." he muttered, rubbing his temples a bit. He glanced around once everyone seemed to have finished or were almost finished with their ice cream. "What should we do, now? We've got some free time..." |
Gavin snickered, nunging Deckle gently. "H-he's never acted like this before...heehee, guess he likes the shy, non human type best..always gotta be different huh mate?" he giggled, clapping Kiwi's shoulder good naturedly before cuddling beside Deckle. "Nothing tastes better than sweet snow, well, except you."
Meriel smiled at the three, enjoying her time as a human. As Kiwi inquired about what to do, she shrugged, content to follow them in their activities. "Let's take a dip in the pool and jacuzzi!" Gavin cheered without thinking. |
"Only a private jacuzzi would work, if you want us all to go in," Kiwi reminded him, nodding at Meriel. "Don't forget what happens to her when she touches a lot of water."
Deckle happily cuddled Gavin back. "Thank you for the compliment..." She nodded silently, agreeing with Kiwi's statement. |
"Oh yeah, well, private jacuzzi would work!" Gavin grinned, holding Deckle's hand and looking at Kiwi and Meriel to see if they objected.
At the unfamilliar word, Meriel blinked in confusion. "Jacuzzi? What's that? Sounds funny." |
Deckle held his hand contently, also glancing at the other two.
"Um...it's like a giant bathtub. But everyone stays somewhat clothed. It's filled with warm, bubbling water. It's relaxing," Kiwi tried to explain, scratching his head. "I wouldn't mind it. What about you?" |
Meriel smiled happily, nodding in approval and interest at the idea. "Meriel would like to try."

Kiwi nodded, happily, then turned to Gavin. "Where can we find a private jacuzzi? I really never looked into it..."
Deckle closed her eyes, resting her head on Gavin's shoulder. |
Behind the main pool and jacuzzi is the spa area, individual sauna's and a few private jacuzzies are there. Near the private tanning pavillion, you know where that is." grinned the brown haired male, hugging Deckle to him.
Meriel smiled, delighted at the idea of spending time with Kiwi in his friends, but mostly Kiwi. "Jacuzzi!" |
"Ah, shut up," Kiwi grumbled at Gavin. "And...I didn't know they had private jacuzzis back there. Sweet!"
Deckle slung an arm around his waist, amused by Kiwi's irritation. "Shall we get proper attire? I have a bikini top Meriel can wear." |
