----------

General Setting:
A sleepy medieval town( so please try to fit in that timeframe) on a forest covered mountain. It is surrounded in every direction by a beautiful forest filled with all assortments of creatures from scary to cute. The town has an Inn, some private homes, a general goods store, apothecary, an armory/blacksmith, miscellaneous merchants selling their wares on the streets, monastery, and abandoned, dangerous, haunted temple.

-----------

Specific Setting: (where Characters are at the moment, will be updated as people move around/join)

Abandoned Temple General Desc:-A once beautiful temple with many statues and shrines, covered in ivy and other growth with a roof falling to pieces. Small balls of light, the various haunting spirits, float among the grounds. They are known to attack if they feel the temple shrine is threatened. The structures are a mix of European and Asian influences with many shiny relics still in tact due to the spirits scaring of trespassers... At the center is a well that once had the purest water for miles, rumored to have had healing properties, but has suffered from the spiritual corruption so it now is dark and thick like sludge. Drinking is not recommended…
Characters At The Temple: “Li” (Female), Arisu (Male), Addison(male)

------------

Start Post:
Lilith Reynard, who tended to go by Li, had been hired by the local monks to purify the spooky old temple… despite her inhuman appearance people had learned to respect her spiritual ability long ago. She stood at 5’10” and had a lithe but shapely form, with short, punky, spiky orange hair but with the ends tipped in black. From that hair came orange ears with black tips a matching tail on her bottom, orange with a black tip and stripes reminiscent of a tiger. Her eyes were a pale icy blue, her full lips set in a frown. Her hands and much of her forearm were covered with short black fur, claws coming from her fingertips. On her cheek was a crescent moon shaped brand scar... Hooked to a studded black belt on her waist was a fox plushie, a strange aura surrounding it though the temples own energies made it difficult to sense.

The woman with a pretty blue flower in her hair was dressed in a cropped white jacket, trailing asymmetrical white skirt, Blue corset top, and blue boots with studded belts around it was standing near the well. At her side was a long sword, her hand wrapped around the hilt as she stuck it in the dirt, a frown on her features. There was many spirits here… but they felt like they were serving another greater spirit that was difficult to find… “Come out, come out, wherever you are….” she muttered to herself, the doll speaking to her briefly though only she could hear it so she would look a little nuts most likely. “fool… why would anything come to you?” it muttered. Li rolled her eyes, “I don’t recall asking your advice…” She responded, inwardly muttering she hadn’t meant it seriously and was just debating how to start…

He was approaching the haunted temple. On feet that were nearly silent, his steps careful. He was tired, hungry, and thirsty. A soldier that was no longer needed. A creature that instilled fear into whomever he passed by. Infact..it was most of the men in the town that had caused him to come to his haunted place. As he had passed through the streets, women jerked their children into their homes and locked the doors. Watching warily from windows as he passed. The men grabbed anything close by that could be used as a weapon and brandished them threateningly at him.

A light sigh left pale pale grey lips, his skin an almost pale blue color, his eyes black as midnight. The tell-tale signs of a Catevari. A creature who's skin and bodily fluids were poison. No matter how breif or gentle the touch. A poison so potent it could kill almost anything within minutes. The making of a Catevari was very tedious. A baby born was fed small doses of poison it's entire life until it became immune and it's very body became a deadly poison. So many poisons flowed through him, some well known and some that had no names. Pale blue hair streaked with pale green and pale grey flowed down to his shoulders.

Black gloves covered his hands, a black sleeveless shirt that laced up the front covered his chest. Black pants adorned his lower half, that shirt tucked neatly into them. His pants tucked into tight, thigh high boots that had low heels. He wore no cloak. Not even trying to hide himself, to hide what he was. He stopped as he drew closer to the well, his intentions to drink the waters, if any, that flowed there. He had stopped only because someone was already there.

Li shook her head, turning to glance into the well so she could focus on its energy when one of her vivid ears twitched. She caught just a whisper of a step but it was enough for her to instantly turn towards the man, her hand holding the blade raising it before her only to see his aura was not that of any of the dark spirits here…

Putting the tip of the blade in the ground again she leaned against it, her pale eyes flowing over him. “Hello… You probably shouldn’t be here…” She said matter of factly, her tone cold as it always was with people she didn’t know. She watched him then, her senses focused on the spirits but fully aware of him too. Shed never seen anything like him… but at the same time the spirits were stirring even more now, as if preparing to attack… two intruders, it seemed, was not to their liking…

A weapon. He eyed that blade for only a moment. Weapons didn't frighten him. If she attacked, all it would take was one opening...meh. He could just spit on her and it would poison her. His body relaxed. It seemed she wasn't going to attack him. He shrugged slightly at her words. Ignoring the spirits that haunted this place. He began moving again. Moving towards the well.

"Everywhere I go, I am told I shouldn't be there." A soldier with no war to fight. A soldier with no ranks to join. Catevari had fought for the kingdom of Kasenaria. A kingdom far to the south east. A kingdom whispered to be ruled over by a Vampire prince. A kingdom that had no more use for Catevari as tools of war, a kingdom that had slaughtered nearly all of it's own Catevari army. A few had survived, a few had escaped. Some only to be later killed by people of other cities, of other kingdoms out of fear.

He was at the edge of the well now. Placing his gloved hands on the stone rim and peering down at the black waters. He assumed it would taste to any human the way clean water tasted to him as soon as it touched his tongue and became tainted by his body. For a moment. Only a breif moment he wandered about the true taste of clean water. Then he was lowering that bucket on it's old and fraying rope down into the murky water.

“Probably not for the reason I’m saying it…” She responded with a raised eyebrow and a shrug, looking over to the nearest spirit. She knew they were debating attack now, something about the Catevari making them… hungry. Slowly Lilith turned as he bent towards the water, about to say it was a bad idea when she noted how his aura didn’t flicker from the water at all as it should have…

“hmmm… interesting…” Li muttered as much to herself as others. She then felt the spirits curl in anger that the well was not affecting him. “lovely…” She said in an annoyed sarcastic tone. Suddenly she put one hand on the well and launched herself over to his side as one of the spirits flashed beginning to send what looked like a bold of lightening and a few began to gather around them.

As she raised her sword it flashed, the blade managing to deflect the attack as it was made not of metal but spiritual energy despite it’s appearance. With her free hand she took the fox doll from her belt and held it before her, her eyes flashing a bright white as the fox opened it’s mouth. The orb that was the corrupted spirit was sucked into it somehow, a shiver of Lilith’s spine showing that it was far more difficult then the simple holding out of the doll suggested… “THAT’S why you shouldn’t be here….” She muttered, eyeing the other spirits who were currently fearful of the doll as they saw their brethren trapped…

The bucket made a soft splash as it touched the water's surface and fell over. The Catevari seemed to be mostly ignoring the girl and the spirits. Really he had nothing to fear from the girl and spirits. Well, he wasn't sure what they could do and honestly he didn't really care. He didn't seem concerned at all for his well being. He did look up when the girl landed next to him, watching her critically for a moment until she deflected the attack and her toy ate the spirit.

He shrugged and pulled the bucket back up. His movements were careful. As if everyone was already planned out. The Catevari had even taken two small steps to the side, as if to make sure he didn't accidently bump the girl with an exposed part of his arm. Once the bucket was at the top he reached out and grabbed it before letting go of the rope. Pulling the bucket towards him and bringing the whole thing up to his face. Tipping it up slowly, careful so he didn't spill the water onto himself or splash any of the obviously tainted droplets onto the girl that was so near him. He drank deeply from that bucket. So thirsty. When he was done he let the bucket fall back into the well, weighed down by the water still in it.

Shrugging slightly he only glanced at her and began moving away from her and the well. He wasn't moving to leave the Temple grounds, but infact moving further into them.

Li sighed, shaking her head and watching him a moment. She read nothing in his aura that said he knew how to stop a spiritual attack… and he was moving further in? Was he trying to get himself killed? Yes he was a bad ass but bad asses have spirits that taste good to corruption too….

“Let him die… the monks aren’t paying you to protect him” The doll interrupted as if reading her thoughts. Her only response was to mutter ass hole, though whether she was talking about the man or the doll was anyone’s guess. As she did so, however, the doll suddenly seemed to cough and a purefied soul appeared only to slowly fade as it finally was freed to pass on. That meant .. Some where simply bound here so there was something even greater around here somewhere.

“Lovely…” She repeated, quickly catching up to the other and standing next to him as she watched the spirits who were beginning to gather and follow around them. Ambushing them was clearly going to be the plan which had her hooking the doll to her belt and preparing her energy which caused the sword to glow faintly. Speaking a little louder she spoke to the man, “ Are you suicidal?” she asked bluntly.

He continued moving, not even looking at her as she caught up to him. He didn't stop or look at her when she asked him that question. He just kindof shrugged a bit. "I'm just looking for a quiet place to sleep, and maybe something to eat." He was exhausted. Not just physically, he was exhausted all the way to the depths of his soul. It wasn't the type of exhaustion that resting could cure. Though he was tired of walking, tired of traveling, and that could be cured by resting a bit.

"If I happen to die, no one would cry for me."

“Then you’re in the wrong place…. From howling ghosts to hungry ones that want to eat you you’ll find no quiet here…” She responded with an annoyed look, rolling her eyes at what he said next. She remembered when she felt that way…long, long ago. Father Brenden Reynard, from whom she’d taken her last name, had taught her otherwise… taught her every life was important. She doubted she had the patience to do the same…

Li put one hand on her hip, her ears tilting downward and her tail lashing the air with annoyance. She bit her lip, shuddering as one of the ghosts screamed almost on cue, shrieking its eternal pain. She looked almost… scared. She hated loud noises…sharp and sudden… she reminded her too much of the man who branded her and what he had done… “Who are you anyway?” She asked irritably, more to cover up her brief fear then anything.

He shrugged. "It's quiet enough." Ignoring what she said about spirits wanting to eat him. Glancing at her for a moment when she asked him 'who' he was. Honestly, did this girl know what he was? If she did she probably wouldn't act friendly towards him. This was the most anyone had spoken to him in a long while. His brow knitted for a moment. "I'm just a wandering abomination."

“Wandering Abomination…….right” She snorted, rolling her eyes as she paused to see the spirits were suddenly retreating. Why weren’t they attacking yet… suddenly she smiled ruefully as she realized why. They knew she was waiting for them too so wanted her to relax a little most likely… Shaking her head before looking towards the shrines’ nearest structure… “Not much of a name you’ve given me, find a better one will you? ”

"It's as good a name as any for my kind." He shrugged. He seemed to be doing alot of that lately. "Besides. It's what everyone else calls me and my brethren." He was looking at her. Not a glance, but fully looking at her. "You've no idea what I am, do you, girl?" A gloved hand was raised and he rubbed his forehead lightly. A gesture of weariness really. He thought it a bit odd that someone didn't know what he was. If anything his almost pale blue colored skin should give it away.

“More don’t care… but feel free to enlighten me.” Was Li’s answer as she glanced at him and flashed him a smile that flashed her cat like fangs. She then turned to gaze at the shrine again, looking for markings really or any clue. Something about this place… it felt different then her usual cleansing… absently she then added “excuse me for thinking you an individual.” She chuckled to herself but dismissed it, her mind more on her job then the species of the man she was now required to protect….

"If you don't care, then why would I tell you?" He was frowning slightly as he stared at her for a few more moments and then, turning on his heel started off in another direction. Those long legs and light footsteps carrying him away from her. He moved through the temple grounds and finally came to a stop in an open area of grass. Lowering himself to the ground he laid on his back. Feet crossed at the ankles, his gloved hands resting under the back of his head. The grass his hair touched, the grass his uncovered arms touched withered and died not long after being touched. His black eyes were closed and he sighed softly. Well..at least he wasn't thirsty anymore.

“Because what you are seems more important to you then who you are…” She answered simply, shrugging at him. She had never asked what he was, and honestly wasn’t concerned with it. She glanced over as she heard him beginning to leave, shaking her head. Sliding her fingers into her boot she pulled out a knife, slicing her own palm open so her blood would touch the blade and she could enchant it with her spiritual energy.

Walking to him she glanced at the dead grass curious but beginning to remember something she’d read… something that was supposed to have died out. She dropped the knife next to him, turning to look at the structure again. “If one of the spirits attacks you, use that.... I need to check on something…” She muttered honestly, walking back to the structure. She began running her fingers down one wall, trying to read some aura, some energy off it as this didn't quite make sense and also trying to lure out the spirits. Absently she twitched an ear towards the man, watching for some sign he was being attacked again.

"Who I am...what I am. Those things aren't important. People already know what I am." He licked his lips, opening his eyes just as she dropped that knife next to him. Watching her as she walked away. He made no move to take the fallen knife. Though if he really felt his life was in danger from the spirits, he might use it. Might. Another sigh left those lips and he closed those eyes again.

The man was beginning to annoy her… she’d half gathered what he was and knew it had to be hard but really… she had no time for this. Maybe he was suicidal… which meant she’d still have to do the ‘right’ thing but that it’d be harder. How inconvenient… “I told you, you should let him die…” said the fox delightedly which merely caused Li to roll her eyes.

“If you say so sunshine.” She responded only to the man, ignoring the fox completely which caused the plushie to seem to almost frown. She dismissed them both then, simply studying the energy that felt more like a curse then angry spirits…. Unless he was attacked she saw no reason to keep from continuing her work…

The Catevari was silent, grimacing just slightly when she called him 'sunshine' but he didn't say anything about it. Really, thinking it best to not distract her from whatever she was doing. Those eyes opening a bit to look around some. A soldier he had been, and still was for the most part. Soldier instincts telling him danger was near, and the girl who seemed to want to keep him safe was over there. A sigh passed those lips as he reacted to the three spirits that came at him.

He rolled to the side, picking that knife up as he moved. Coming up in a crouch and facing the spirits. One had come at him from each side and the third had come at him from above. When he rolled out of the way, emerging in that crouch unharmed, the three spirits were perfectly lined up for him. He was quick. A soldier's reflexes. He threw that knife. Straight and true. It pierced the first spirit and kept going, hitting the second and third.

It seemed the spirits had been surprised by how quickly he had reacted to their attack. His aura never flickered or wavered. He hadn't been afraid or startled for a moment. The knife landed on the ground a few feet away from him. He stood and moved to retrieve the knife.

Feeling the spirits start their attack she turned, raising her blade and starting over to his side. By the time she got over there he was already dispatching them. She half smiled and nodded her head, saying only “Good job Sunshine…” before turning and looking at the spot she was. That energy was everywhere… in the grass, the trees, the buildings… the very air. Where was it centered…?

"I'm a soldier. I know how to handle a weapon." He shrugged, picking that knife up and looking at it for a moment before watching her as she returned to whatever it was she was doing. He ran a gloved hand through his hair. "If your trying to purify this place..I'd start with the water. It runs below the grounds. Probably everywhere beneath our feet. All around us, as it were." He was lowering himself to the ground again. That knife held in his hand. Not loosely but not too tightly. "Then again..I'm not sure what your trying to do."

“Purify is close enough….” She responded with a shrug, saying nothing of his suggestion. She could, of course, but the water was not the source… the ghosts were not the source… there was something, something else she couldn’t quite put her finger on. Something with a will, a mind… Putting her hands on her hips she glanced back at him, watching him a moment. “do you care what I’m trying to do?” A simple blunt question… she was curious.

He was laying on the ground. His hands behind his head and dead grass around him wherever his bareskin or hair touched it. Those black eyes were on the sky and he shrugged slightly. "It looks like your trying to find something...I'd start by purifying the water. If the purification is strong enough, it'll spread the purification to where ever it flows..at least a little. Then I would check the temple's altar." He had closed those eyes. "But..then again...I don't know much about this spiritual stuff."

One of her ears twitched twice, an expression of annoyance. It was a simple question really… did he answer anything? She shook her head and turned away with an annoyed sigh, not saying a word for a moment. She shrugged, still gazing up at the structures as she puzzled over it. She wasn’t interested in wasting her energy… she’d kill the source then purify the damage… “Do you ever answer a question directly?” she asked absently, inwardly betting he wouldn’t answer even that directly.

"Only the right kind of question gets answers." He didn't look at her, his eyes remained on the sky. "Still, if I were you...I'd check the altar area just in case." For a moment, his eyes glanced this way and that but still not looking directly at her. His eyes were quick and sharp. He was mostly just looking to see if anything else wanted to attack him. Those eyes closed slowly. "But like I said. I don't really know anything about anything."

“…. How cooperative you are…” She muttered in response, looking towards the main building again. She flickered one ear, inwardly debating. Honestly checking the alters more closely, of which the were almost five in this place, wasn’t a bad idea but she couldn’t walk away and leave him here… Again the fox reiterated his suggestion of just what to do with the man and her response was to snort slightly and look at the doll. “oh hush…” Was all she said to the possessed doll before looking back to the man. “you going to come with or are you going to sit out here and bait the spirits some more?” she asked in an uncaring tone.
